Chapter Twenty-Three - Nena

Kara was stressing herself out, because what does someone usually wear on a date with a super fashionable woman who you've been crushing on for the longest time?

The blue dress? A definite no.

The pink shirt and her white jeans? Probably too much for a cafe.

A knock sounded at the door, and Kara went to open it.

"Missed me, Nena?"

Kara didn't know why Cami called her 'nena', but she liked it, even though she didn't know what it meant.

She hugged Cami, and the other girl gave Kara a kiss on her cheek. "Still deciding what to wear?"

Kara nodded, and Cami walked to the closet, brushing her hand through all the clothes before bringing out a yellow sundress Kara didn't know existed.

"This, with those white heels you love to wear." Cami winked at her. "And I'll do your hair, too."

That morning, after she sent Aru to go get her man, Kara had confessed to Camilla over text, which, if you asked her, was the lamest way to confess, but Cami had sent her a text after that which kind of cancelled the lameness.

Fucking finally, she'd texted, before saying it was high time they went on a date.

Kara caught the dress Cami had thrown to her, before rushing the other girl out of the room so that she could change.

She had to admit, she always did, that Cami's sense of fashion was actually the best. Then she realised she hadn't taken a look at Cami's outfit.

Cami was still in the main room when Kara exited her room.

"You look beautiful, Nena."

Said the girl who was wearing an white top tucked into green bell bottoms to the girl wearing a sundress she never knew existed.

Camilla patted the seat next to hers, a comb and a ribbon in her hand, and Kara sat next to her, with her back to Cami's front.

She combed Kara's hair, taking the top part of it and tying a rubber band before looping it with a white ribbon.

Kara felt like a doll.

After Camilla styled Kara's hair, she got up and gave Kara her hand. With a wink, she said, "Now, let's get to that cafe, shall we?"

Kara didn't realise how quickly time flew when she was with Camilla. One moment, they were walking down the stairs, and the next, they were in the breezy cafe, ordering their drinks.

"I'll take a cappuccino, and add as much sugar as you can. What do you want, Nena?"

The barista smiled as though she understood the meaning of the word, and Kara's face was overcome with a bright blush. "Same, but not too much sugar. And that dark chocolate pastry."

"Dark chocolate, huh? I'm going to keep that in mind."

Their coffees and pastry arrived not too long after, but they just sat in silence before Kara, very tentatively, reached for Camilla's hand, before taking it back halfway.

Camilla took her hand before Kara could take it back.

Kara didn't seem to stop blushing.

"You blush very easily–no, don't look away. It's a cute look on you."

Which made Kara blush harder. Any more blushing and she'd become a tomato.

Camilla kissed Kara's hand, before laying it down again, just sipping her coffee and looking at Kara becoming more and more flustered with each second.

They exited the cafe soon after, and Kara realised that Camilla preferred her coffee not hot, but scalding, and that she enjoyed sweet things more than anything else.

Cami nudged Kara's shoulder with hers. "Wanna go to the garden? Not one of the campus ones, obviously, that would seem like our date was coming to an end."

She was on a date with Camilla.
Kara Shah was on a date with Camilla Rivera.

The thought made her giddy, before she nodded to say that, yes, she wanted to go to the garden.

And holy hell, was the garden big.

Runner's tracks, cycling tracks, towering trees and small bushes, Kara felt really short after looking at the trees.

Camilla walked towards a particular flower bush, a plumeria tricolour, if Kara was right, and plucked one.

She came back to Kara, placing the flower in her hair. "I'm actually on a date with you." She said in disbelief and a strangely happy tone as she adjusted the flower in the ribbon. "I'm actually on a date with Kara Shah, and this is not a dream?"

Kara took Cami's hand, and turned around to look her in the eyes. "Definitely not a dream."

Camilla smiled that wide kind of smile when all your dreams suddenly come true. "I might just be the luckiest person in the world."

Her eyes flicked down to Kara's lips, before going back to her eyes and noticing Kara was staring at hers.

Exactly how did Camilla's lips look like rose petals?

Was it magic?

They instinctively leaned towards each other, and then their lips met and Kara's mind fogged up as she didn't know what to do.

Camilla, on the other hand, seemed to know exactly what to do. Her hands were in Kara's perfectly styled hair, running through the silky strands as she kissed Kara in a way no one had ever kissed her before.

Granted, her only kiss had been from her first crush, a snotty little boy who young Kara thought was the best person in the world and older Kara had to think back as to why she actually liked him.

Kissing that boy was one of her regrets, and she still remembered how gross the kiss was.

But this kiss? This kiss was the opposite of gross. It made Kara's head spin and made her stand on her toes even in those heels because damn, was Cami tall.

Cami pulled away, looking at Kara before placing her head in the crook of Kara's neck. "You don't know how long I've wanted to do that. Every time we were hanging out, I could only dream of a day where you'd willingly be my first kiss."

"That was your first kiss?"

Definitely didn't seem like that.

Camilla winked. "The shows I watch gave me a good enough idea of what to do. Want ice-cream? I can see a shop there."

Kara nodded. "Butterscotch."

Cami gave her another kiss before she walked to the shop.

Kara brought out her phone, opening google translate and translating spanish to english.

And if she said her face wasn't absolutely flaming afterwards, she'd be lying, because she definitely hadn't known 'nena' meant 'babe' in spanish.

Cue her internal squealing.
