He slammed the pitiful yet durable table once again, losing another game.
After you'd gifted him the chess set the days after, he surprisingly began to bring it every day albeit coming here a little later than before and parting ways more early. But he seemed entertained by such a game which you can see as good.
Admittedly you were indeed worried about what he would do with it whether it be for display at home only and collect dust or playing it with you every day, and a satisfying small surprise he chose the former.
Obviously, your time of tea has mostly been set aside as a sort of accommodation and peacemaking in your mind as the tense game continues on.
"Well, you did better than the other matches."
You can't deny that.
After teaching a simple guide by your poor yet best explanation, he had managed to understand quite well where even you had close calls on some matches.
Well- 'some' feels like an overestimation to think and say...
"Whatever, whatever.... let's play another round!"
He looked on with determination in his eyes, ready to challenge you once more. Amused by this you couldn't help but grin and nod. Seeing this he immediately sat down and leaned by the edge of the chair, taking it quite seriously.
Capture the highest authority of the land. The capturer will stand victory and be honored to stand in the scales which is called life, whilst The captured will stand to lose and be banished to the tipping scales of death.
A tie.... a draw... If it is a draw, it means immortality. There will be no true winner to stand, nor a loser to lose. A thin line to stand between the sides of life and death, forever to live and never to die.
"f-six, checkmate."
The satisfying sigh as the piece was placed echoed like a melody in your ears. You let go of it hesitantly as Jing Yuan on the opposite side whined and pouted in his defeat which was done so gracefully.
You chuckled and took a final sip of the tea, fluttering your eyes close as you do so. Bittersweet. What an intoxicating taste for something which gives you ease.
"Ugh... okay okay, no more! I'm done!"
His voice boomed right at your ears as your eyes opened abruptly feeling shaken by the disturbance, though it was followed after by a chuckle seeing his obliviated state.
"I might as well go now, both of us have to work early right? B-Besides..."
He looked away as his cheeks puffed whilst his arms crossed still denying his defeat. You caught on and can't help but let out a laugh whilst you nod in amusement.
"Go now."
Swift as lightning he packed up the starchess set and left- of course bidding you a little goodbye of course.
Work early....
Right, you remember a thing or two about this. The Xianzhou Luofu was in a disarray due to an incident which spreaded like wildfire, and you too had to stand up and work off a little more overtime, not like you'd complain seeing it was for noble causes; just feels hard to adjust at times like these.
Well might as well get working.

"Just how did I even get here..."
You look onwards at the massive gate which invited you to enter the ever so massive Artisanship Commission, Red ought to be everywhere you look.
Funnily enough, you thought about joining this commission out of its heavy aesthetics and designs of red. Well- never mind about that...
You look down at the paper in your hand, unfortunately you were chosen to be another errand runner for the week. Not like you can complain nor' lose anything, in fact you could even gain many benefits due to your often self-isolation.
'A sword commissioned to be picked up at the Creation Furnace, look for a young short-life species named Yingxing.'
This was a personal request from a patient of yours who's basically bedridden as per your advice, now you're out and about doing more errand running.
That patient... you remember his words. "I have no one to help me due to my lack of connections, and now I can only turn to you...." Lonely. He was indeed a lonely man no doubt even with comrades in arms in the battlefield— He did not have anyone else to talk and rely on, and now he's come up to you to make such a request, but you've known him for a long time.
How can you just turn down a request from someone you could consider a friend?
And in any case, this is just more free time to be quite honest.
For a few minutes you stood in silence, contemplating on whatever you could do next. But a booming voice shattered your moment of solemn thoughts as the recognizable delightful voice reached your ears.
"Hey! I remember you!"
You made a swift turn into the direction of the source, lowering your hand which held the paper. Your face lit up as you too recognize the patient. Baiheng, she seemed to be a social butterfly no doubt.
"Ah... greetings, Baiheng was it?"
She hummed and approached you, her expression bright as ever. After looking at her for a good moment you could somewhat recognize she'd just return from a trip or two, possibly an expedition knowing she worked as a starskiff pilot.
"Can I ask if you need anything?"
You asked to begin small talk, asking information about origins was private right...? might as well not hit it on the spot. Baiheng shook her head lightly in reply.
"Just visiting my friend, Yingxing."
Your face immediately lit up with her words, a coincidence but greatly fortunate one for you. Though you were indeed piqued in curiosity on the why's, you two weren't really friends in any case...
"May I come along? I too need to look for him."
"Oh?"
Her face looked curious as you, no doubt Baiheng may have known a thing or two about him, But she did not pry and let out an amused hum.
"Sure."
Well guess she'll be your travel partner for this trip.

So hi hello, yes I went down and low after a good number of days of posting like everyday, unfortunately school caught up so yea I had to sort some stuff out but I'll probably be able to post for a good minute.
Gotta say this again, so sorry for the past chapt again for being so short but I repayed it w this chap! I may post another if fortunate
