Chapter 200 - "Mommy, Daddy asked you to wait for him to finish showering." (1)
The one who spoke was in a black trench coat that extended all the way down to her calves. Her hair cascading down behind her shoulder and she was pretty and elegant.
It was Chu Xun whom he hadn't seen in a while.
Chu Xun had some rough days a while ago. She was introduced to Jiang MingYuan by Mother Jiang and had thought that it was her opportunity to leave the Chu's and become Mrs. Jiang. In the end, the marriage didn't happen and she had offended Jiang MingYuan instead. Jiang MingYuan had sent a message to the Chu's over the photograph incident and Father Chu was enraged after he found that out. He called Chu Xun home, gave her a severe lecture, froze her credit card and upped her brother's status.
Until a second ago, she had no idea why Jiang MingYuan had overreacted so. Today, seeing the obviously family outfit, she seemed to have an idea now.
What wondered whether Mother Jiang was aware of this. Judging from the way that Mother Jiang was earlier, probably not. Her lips pursed a little as she thought about all these.
Regardless, none of these have anything else to do with her anymore.
"Long time no see," said Chu Xun as she pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear. With a gentle smile, she looked over at Cheng Huan and, with a surprised look, asked, "This one is...?"
"The one that I am courting." Jiang MingYuan's answer wasn't exactly what Chu Xun had expected. Jiang MingYuan nodded, then looked up and asked politely. "Anything that I can do for you, Miss Chu?"
"No, nothing. I am just here to say hi." Chu Xun was taken aback a little. She didn't think she would ever hear those words leaving his mouth. She gave Cheng Huan another look and she looked inquisitive. Finally, she smiled and said, "You two look like a nice couple together. Good luck, Boss Jiang."
"Thank you."
His attitude was obviously distant. In the past, Chu Xun could still trying to search for topics to talk about with that one slight hope but, now that this person has nothing else to do with her, she had no reason to anymore. She said her goodbye.
This person had both come and gone abruptly and she was odd. Cheng Huan turned to look and noticed that she had already returned to her seat and was chatting gleefully with a man sitting across from her.
Sometimes, there's no scientific explanation of a woman's hunch. Take the few exchanges between the two for example. Cheng Huan could already tell there had been something that took place between the two in the past. She sneaked a glance over at Jiang MingYuan with her mouth close but finally her curiosity got the better side of her.
"That one was?"
Cheng Huan's timing was off and the server had brought the food right after she had finished asking. Jiang MingYuan gesture her to wait with his look before he unfolded the napkin and placed it on XingXing. After the server was gone, he explained to her, "Daughter of the Chu's. Have you heard of Tian Lan? That belongs to her family."
"Oh, her." The Chu's daughter part clued her in to that woman's identity.
In the original novel, there were many women who desired the male lead. They ranged from employees working for him to the daughters of his competitors. There was no shortage of those who were so into him that they were vying over him with the female lead.
And this Young Mistress Chu was one of them.
From the parts that Cheng Huan had read, this Young Mistress Chu was one of the strong competitors. If the original owner was trying to score Jiang MingYuan with her son, then this Miss Chu has the benefit of someone strong who backed her – the male lead's mother.
In the story, she was the only one that Mother Jiang approved and had often created opportunities of the two to spend time with each other. By the time that she had stopped reading the book, the male lead's mother even suggested for a family trip, with Chu Xun included as part of the "family".
