Chapter 184 - "You are very pretty too." (3)
After the broth had been boiling rapidly for 10 minutes, the soup began to turn a white. Cheng Huan pull the fish bones out and poured in the filets that she had prepared earlier. This dish was ready after shimmering for 2 minutes.
A fish was pretty sizeable. This one dish was enough for the three of them. As Cheng Huan poured the fish and pickled cabbage soup from the pot into a bowl, the pattern of the bowl reminded her that XingXing was just soaking his hands inside of it. That had, in turn, reminded her of the question that XingXing had asked. Then, inevitably, she recalled the reply that may or may not have happened.
The thought of that made her blush well after the fact. Cheng Huan placed the back of her hand on her cheek and proceeded to wash the pot out while biting her lower lip. Jiang MingYuan and XingXing were both inside of the living room and nobody noticed the girly look on her.
Cheng Huan did not use hot water when she washed out the pot. The cold water was enough to calm her down. After drying and hanging up the pot, she called to the other two to come over for dinner.
The two in the living room heard her voice and put down the toys. Jiang MingYuan took XingXing to go wash his hands. After they have washed their hands, Jiang MingYuan voluntarily set the table up with their kitchenware and utensils. The division of labor was perfect.
There was a full bowl of pickled cabbage in the bowl. As the pickled cabbage had been rinsed thoroughly, they tasted savory and not too sour. The filets were very thin and would melt in one's mouth. The two eaters did not speak too much nonsense but expressed their fondness toward the dish with the speed that they were eating.
Cheng Huan was a bit heavy with the peppers when she made the dish. It wasn't noticeable at first then the spiciness would creep up on one after a little while.
Cheng Huan was fine but she couldn't say the same for the father and son duo. XingXing's reaction was more direct. He drew in breaths as he asked for water. As for Jiang MingYuan, he was never a very expressive person. Even when the spiciness was bothering him, he still had the serious look on him. But his face was reddened and his eyes teared up a little.
The moistness in his eyes and the blush on his face "softened" him up greatly. With his aura gone, he matched the description of a handsome man described in history books very well.
Cheng Huan liked handsome men a lot. She had never noticed that before, now that she had noticed, she found it difficult to look away from him. Not wanting to be caught, she never looked at him for too long. She would take a glance, look away, and take another look again after a little while.
She had been stealthy about it but with just the three of them at the table, it would almost be impossible to not be noticed. She had only done that for three or four times when she was caught red handed.
Jiang MingYuan couldn't handle spiciness very well. When he was over for the hotpot last time, there were options of spicy and non-spicy soup base. With the fish and picked cabbage, there was no options. His mouth was on fire but he still wanted to have more. The more he ate, the redder his face was, and the more frequent Cheng Huan looked at him.
"Why are you looking at me?" Jiang MingYuan looked up and asked when he noticed her.
Being caught red handed, Cheng Huan couldn't focus her eyes for a little bit. She poked at the rice in her bowl speechlessly. After a long while, noticing that Jiang MingYuan was still looking at her, she made up her mind to tease him boldly, "I am looking at you because you are very good looking."
Normally speaking, the less timid person would have the upper hand in a situation and the same could be said about someone who was shameless. Once she had said that out loud, it was now Jiang MingYuan's turn to feel awkward. He looked down, a little frazzled, as though the plain steamed rice in his hand was dazzling.
Cheng Huan felt that she had won this round and felt a little bit proud of herself. Before she could remain happy for too long, the man sitting across from her retaliated.
With a grain of rice on his chopsticks, Jiang MingYuan stared at the tip of the chopsticks, thanked her calmly, and added, "You are very good looking as well."ve been real.
