First Love/Late Spring

Juliet slept through the entire day, for the second time in a row. She hasn't been scheduled to work for the past two days, so most of her time was spent with Mike, or asleep. She drove down to Mikes house a bit early, and parked where she always did. She knocked on the door.

"Jules! I just made dinner come sit."
she was rushed inside

"Juliet!"
Abby ran up to hug her.

"Hey guys."
Juliet smiled awkwardly.

Juliet didn't know how to move on from the semi-deep conversation she had with Mike last night. She didn't like getting all emotional like that. She guessed Mike wasn't thinking as hard about it as she was, because he was already making her a bowl of soup.

She also hated eating at other peoples houses. She didn't wanna feel like she owed anyone anything. But he was making a plate and it was rude to refuse, so they ate together.

"Hey Abby, we need to talk about last night, okay?"
Abby looked up.

"So those, uh, machines..."
Mike moved his spoon around his bowl, scraping the edge.

"My friends?"
Abby asked.

God that freaks me out
Juliet thought

"Your friends? are they...?"
Mike appeared to be looking for the words.

"Ghosts?"
Abby questioned.

"Yeah."

"Of course. How else could they make the robots move?"

what the fuck

"Right..."
Mike said, exchanging glances with Juliet.

"Hey, Abs. You know we used to have a brother, right?"
Mike reminded.

Juliet guessed Abby wasn't alive when garret was taken, so she never got to meet him.
Juliet wanted to step out of the room. What the hell is it with him and hard conversations?

"Garrett..."
Abby said, her voice lowering a bit.

"I don't... I don't really talk about him very much."

"Neither did Mom or Dad."
Abby sighed

"Yeah, it was hard for them.
It's hard for me, too."
he paused and pulled out a drawing. Juliet leaned over to look. It was a photo of a sad boy in the back of a car.

Garrett

"Can you explain this to me?
You-you drew that, right?"
Mike started to stumble over his words, and Abby nodded.

"Okay, and-you know what that is?"
Abby started to look away.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. I'm not- I'm not mad.
I won't get angry at you.
But I really need you to help me understand, please. That's when Garrett got taken. Abby, who told you about that?"

His words sped up, he was getting ahead of himself.

"Was it a boy with blonde hair? Did that boy ever tell you anything about the man driving that car?
Anything at all?"

She nodded no.

"Okay, just think, think really hard, okay?"
He looked hopeful.

"No. All they talk about is a yellow rabbit."

Mike sighed.

"Okay. But... I can ask."
Mike looked up and smiled.

"I would really appreciate that."

What the fuck did I get myself into.

They drove to Freddy's, and saw there was another car parked there. A police car?

Mike turned around to talk to Abby in the back seat.
"Abby, if I asked you to wait in the car, would you?"

"No"

So they walked in.

"Whats with the police car?"
Juliet asked.

"That's probably Vanessa"
Mike said, unlocking the door.

"Should I know who that is?"
Juliet laughed.

"Nah"

"Alright, I'll add Venessa to the list of things I should ignore, along with the ghost kids and the giant possessed robots."
They both laughed and started to walk into the entrance, this time Abby lead the way.

"Mike, who's your friend?"
A pretty blonde girl said sweetly.

"I'm Jules, it's nice to meet you."
Jules stuck her hand out, and waited for Venessa to shake it.

She didn't.

"I missed you guys"
Venessa turned to the robot animals and waved.

"Oh look! She talks to the robots too"
Juliet stated sarcastically.

"You knew about this?"
Mike said to The Blonde.

"Guess you figured it out."
She smiled.

"Ghost children possessing giant robots? Thanks for the heads-up."
Mike said.

He's so sassy it's kinda funny.

Abby started whispering to the robots.

"Abby, look. Now, this is all really fun and exciting, but these things are big, and they could be dangerous, so I think we need to lay some ground rules, all right?
Vanessa, Jules, what do you think?"
Mike said.

"I think your right. We just want you to be safe, right Vanessa?"
Juliet said looking between the group.

"I think we could use the tables for the fort."
Venessa said with a smile.

They started to build a fort. Juliet's guard was up completely, but it was fun. She would turn to Mike sometimes, asking questions like
"Is this for real? like they actually possessed?"
and he would answer the best he could under his breath.
At the end of the day, these robots, if that's what to call them, are kids. Kids that wanna build forts or something.

They all layed down under the makeshift fort. It looked like Juliet and Mike were the only ones uncomfortable being that close to the robots.

"I like it in here.
But I think it's gonna rain soon."
Abby said.

"Sounds like we need a roof.
I'll go see what I can find."
Venessa said.

"I'll, uh... I'll-come with you. You too Jules"
He volunteered Juliet, and whispered to abby.

"Abby, don't forget to ask."

"Okay."
she whispered back.

They walked into the dark storage room. It was creepy. The vibes were just- off.

"What are you looking for exactly?"
Mike asked while Venessa fumbled around the dark room.

"Tablecloths. They used to keep 'em back here for big events."

"Right. And remind me how you know that."
Mike eyed her suspiciously. He was asking good questions. Was Venessa just a Freddy Fazbear super fan or something? Why does she know all of this information.

"Found 'em."

"oh ok just dodge the question."
Juliet said under her breath, which was ignored by Vanessa.

Juliet poked around the storage room and came across a creepy looking suit thing. She put her hand near it-

"Don't- I wouldn't do that."

Juliet moved her hand.

"They're spring locks. They're on all the older models. They were designed to keep the animatronic parts in place so that, uh, a person could safely wear the suit. They tend to be pretty unstable."
Vanessa explained, and grabbed a broom.

"Let's see."

She put the broom into the spring locks, and they crushed around the wood, breaking it completely.

"Damn"
Juliet winced

That coulda been my hand

"Like I said, unstable."
Vanessa said.

"Is there anything else that you want to tell us about, Vanessa? 'Cause you seem to know everything about this place. What if Abby came in here? What if she'd found that thing?"
Mike said, getting more angry with each word.

Vanessa couldn't dodge that one

"You're the one who brought her, Mike, not me.
What I can't wrap my head around is why."
She responded.

"Girl if you don't tell us what the fuck is going on I swear to GOD-"
Juliet started before she was interrupted by Mike.

"I think that they know who took my little brother.
I can't explain it, but when I'm here, I feel closer to Garrett.
My dreams are more vivid, and it... it's like I can almost..."

"Change what happened?"
Vanessa asked.
Mike nodded.

All Juliet wanted to say was,

"oh ok I guess we're just moving on from the fact that you definitely know what's going on and your not telling us,"

but it wasn't a good time.
Garretts a sensitive subject

"Did you ask them about this?"

"Yeah, I tried.
I don't think they like me very much.
But... they do like Abby."

It seemed a bit morally wrong to be using Abby to figure out who took garret, but it wasn't Juliet's place to decide. There was a lot at risk.

"Mike, you need to drop this."
Vanessa snapped, and Juliet's jaw dropped a bit.

"I don't really see how that's any of your business."
Mike snapped back.

"I'm telling you, you need to let it go."
She started to get a bit emotional

"Who the hell are you? Like actually. This whole friendly neighborhood police officer thing you have going on isn't working anymore."
Juliet said, defending Mike and herself.

"Just someone who's trying to help."
Vanessa said softly.

These ominous ass responses are starting to get on my nerves

They walked back into the dining area and saw Abby on the way to strum the blue rabbits guitar. They were all just dancing and having a good time. Of course Juliet and Mike didn't think anything of it because they didn't know.

Vanessa did.

"Abby! Don't!"

Vanessa ran up, but it was too late. Abby had strummed the guitar, and everything moved in slow motion. There were sparks in the air, and the next thing they knew Abby was on the floor.
Mike and Juliet both dropped everything and ran of course. They both took turns trying to wake Abby up, but she got up and started coughing.

"What happened?"
She sounded tired, but she didn't look too hurt.

"It's okay Abby, you just had an accident"
Vanessa said.

"Is it okay? Is it really okay?"
Juliet said, her words like venom.

Mike picked up Abby and they all walked out to the parking lot. He put her in the car and closed the door.

They needed to talk to Vanessa.

"I don't know what to say"
Mike said to Vanessa.

"Honestly I have plenty to say for the both of us"
Juliet responded, but before she could get into any of it, Vanessa had replied.

"Take care of your sister Mike"
She almost sounded, Sarcastic?

oooooo I could smack the shit out of her

Juliet thought, but she didn't do anything. She was a little too old to be getting into fights. Plus, she didn't wanna waste the money she spent on anger management.

"What are you so afraid of? In the storage room.
I saw your eyes. You were terrified."
Mike said, his voice rising.

Nothing could have prepared either of them for what Vanessa would say next.

"You can do whatever you want with your own life, but if you ever bring Abby back here again, I will shoot you."
Vanessa had already walked away.

"That sounds like a threat."
Juliet dramatically turned around throwing her hands up.

She always regretted making scenes like this.

"Anit you police? Hit me right now I dare you."

Juliet yelled as Vanessa walked away, but mike had already grabbed her hand and began to drag her back to the car.

"It's alright Jules. Abby's fine"
He said quietly.

Juliet scoffed and let go, dropping his hand. He looked a little hurt.

Abby spoke up.

"She looked so angry. Why does everyone always look at you that way?"

damn.

Mike didn't respond, he just started the car and sighed.

This drive back was tense instead of comfortable. When they got back to the house Abby ran inside, and it was just Mike and Juliet. He walked her to her car door.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what's going on either. Im sorry for-"

Mike took a breath.

"getting you into all of this. It's a wreak. I know"

Juliet somehow found it in herself to smile.
"I wouldn't want to be in this with anyone else."

"You know, if your too tired to drive home safe. You can stay here. I wouldn't want you to drive drowsy, or whatever. I think that's illegal."

He was looking at the ground.

"Okay."
She smiled.

She didn't know what she was doing. She hated help from other people, but for some reason, she said yes. Mike was good at getting her out of her comfort zone, which is weird because she didn't have much of a comfort zone anyways.

They walked in the house.

"We have a guest room across Abby's room."
he said. He looked, surprisingly happy.

"Well actually It was my room, but now i sleep in my parents room, cus'. well.."

It was quiet, he didn't look as happy anymore.

"I'm gonna get you some clothes, So you don't have to sleep in jeans and stuff"

It was so weird watching him talk like this. He was so quiet usually. He was learning to trust her, fully, and Juliet could tell. Maybe it had something to do with how she defended him.

He came back with some sweatpants and and old tee shirt. It might seem a little weird that she went from dropping his hand, to wearing his clothes, staying in his childhood room in the span of 30 minutes, but it seemed normal.

he handed her the clothes.

"Goodnight Jules."

"Goodnight Mike"

He turned off the light, and everything seemed to be moving incredibly fast. She started breathing heavy, and a couple tears fell from her eyes. And then she started to cry. It wasn't long before she was sobbing silently.

She didn't know why. She wasn't a very emotional person. It felt like everything that had happened for the last couple years had built up. She had hid everything in work, alcohol, boys and every hobby she could possibly pick up.

She was too good at burying things, and mike, for some reason, was too good at digging them up.
