Sophia's pov:
"What!?" She asked.
"I said no.." I replied.
"That's not what the what was for Sophia." She said.
Sophia. That weirdly hurt. She always calls me Soph.
"You like Miguel? Seriously?" She asked.
I nodded.
"Trust me i never did before but.. spending more time with him made me realize that maybe he's not actually that bad of a person. I don't know what im feeling either." I said.
She looked disappointed.
"Joy im sorry.." I said.
She ran over to me and her arms wrapped around me.
She world felt like it was slow motion.
"Joy?" I asked.
She hugged me even tighter.
"I love you!" She said.
"Where is this coming from?" I said surprised. I had a giant smile on my face.
"Oooohh my bestfriends in love! She's all grown up now!" She said, pulling away from the hug.
I smiled.
"Okay don't get ahead of yourself. He definitely doesn't like me back.. Not after yesterday.." I said.
"Oh my god. What did you do?" She asked.
"I mean i technically didn't do anything but when i told Miguel he just went.. cold." I started.
"I know you and this isn't all." She replied.
"And we almost kissed."
"What!?" She yelled.
"Fuck this im going to your house and we are gonna talk." She said firmly.
"Yes ma'am." I replied.
We walked to my house.
"Hey Joy!" My mom said when we walked im.
"I haven't seem you in a while!" She smiled.
"Yeah i know we've both been really busy." Joy smiled back.
"Yeah but we have to go now." I said.
I dragged Joy upstairs.
"Oh my fucking god." I said as i closed my door.
"You like Miguel? Seriously?" She asked.
I nodded.
"How? Soph, he was the boy who turned on the sprinklers so he could erase your chalk drawings, he was the boy who legit flirted with your mom at age seven just to taunt you, he was the boy-" She said.
"Alright i get it. He's my enemy." I replied.
"Exactly, so why do you like him?" She asked.
"I just.. I don't know.." I said.
"Hmm, i think you do." She replied.
"He's been pretty nice to me and.. I don't know.. Things have been kinda flirty lately." I said.
"Dish." She replied.
"I already told you about the almost kiss!" I said.
"Dish even more Sophia Hansley." She said firmly.
The love in the scene made me feel some type of way.
He looked at me aswell.
We had eyecontact.
For a second, i could imagine us.
I really slowly leaned in.
He looked at my lips.
The lights went out.
"What the-" Miguel started.
The tv went out.
It was dark inside. I heard rain drops fall onto the roof.
"What's happening?" I asked.
We moved away from eachother.
"I think the power went out." He said.
"What?" I asked.
"The power went out." He repeated.
We both stood up and started lingering around the room.
"Yeah i heard you dickwad i was just shocked." I said, slight raising my voice.
"What?" He yelled.
I stepped back, surprised by the fact he just yelled at me.
"Sorry." He said.
"You better be." I mumbled.
"Shut it Hansley." He said.
"Wait so what were you doing before the power went out?" She asked.
"Almost kissing?" I asked.
"No not that." She said.
"Oh we were watching brooklyn 99." I replied.
"He watches brooklyn 99!?" She shrieked.
"Oh my god you guys are soulmates!" She added.
She giggled and ran around my room.
"Joy untill t-30 seconds ago you hated him." I said.
"I've always thought you were soulmates but i just couldn't say it because you hated him." She replied.
"What?" I asked.
"Hes your Wes Bennet Soph." She said.
"Don't even joke about that." I replied.
She laughed.
"Ugh this is the cutest!" She shrieked.
"Calm down!" I said.
"Oh my god!" She started.
"What?" I asked.
"You know Jason? I think you have gym with him." She said.
I nodded.
'Shouldn't have spared me.' I thought to myself.
"He's throwing a party friday, i think Miguel's gonna be there." She said.
"I don't wanna go to a party Joy.." I replied.
"Do it for Miguel." She said.
"Miguel wouldn't go to a party for me, why should i go for him." I replied.
"Because you like him." She said.
I groaned.
"That's actually a really good point, fine ill ask my mom." I said.
I walked downstairs.
"Mom?" I asked.
"Yeah?" She replied.
"Can i go to a party friday?" I asked.
"Who's party?" She asked.
"Uhm Jason." I replied.
"Who's that?" She asked.
"Some kid from my gym class, whole grade is invited." I replied.
"Hmm.. You can go but ur home by 11. And no alcohol." She said.
"Thank you!" I replied.
I gave her a hug.
I ran back upstairs.
"I can go!"
