"Y/N, come quick!"

-

"Mama?! What??" I threw my phone to the side and ran to where she was. She was sitting down with her phone in her hand, a happy look on her face

"Oh, baby, your father is finally visiting!" She jumped up from her chair with joy, as if she wasn't cheating on him.

I felt happy, admittedly, but I haven't seen him in forever. He almost seems like a stranger coming over.

"How are you feeling, Mama?" I leaned down and hugged her, embracing her warmth.

"I'm delighted. He said he'll be here in about 2 hours or so. Why not tidy up your room a bit?"

"It's not like he's gonna go in my room -"

"I don't care, N/N. Just do it for me, okay?" She pulled away and looked me serious for a few seconds before smiling and patting my back. "Thank you."

I couldn't help but laugh and roll my eyes secretly. I turned around and walked up to my room and... yeah.

My bed was unmade, there were my uniforms all over the floor, there was a broken box there, too.

Speaking of that, I forgot about my suit! I quickly turned around and shut my door, making sure it's locked.

I want to try it on, I know I have time. Dad isn't gonna be here till 2 hours.

So I threw off my clothes and put on my suit. I grabbed the web shooters and slipped them on my wrist.

I walked to my mirror and examined myself. The webshooters looked out of place. Maybe if I put them on before my suit?

I took off the webshooters and took off my suit. I caught my breath for a second before putting the webshooters on first this time. Then, I slipped on my suit and looked at myself in the mirror.

"Damn... this looks good."

The suit fit me perfectly. It looked exactly how I imagined it. Not a thing out of place.

I aimed my hand up to the roof.

"How do I work this thing-"

When I accidentally pressed the button on my web shooter, it launched me up and upside down on the roof.

Only this time, I was effortlessly sticking to the roof, unlike before when I was in the stairwell with María.

I yanked my hand, and I fell onto the floor. My web shooter shot again and webbed to above my dresser. I was dragged, and I slammed into it and OUUCHHH.

Suddenly, my dresser began to tip over as I scrambled to get out of the way.

My dresser and anything that was on top of it made a loud crashing sound when it fell on the floor.

I yanked my web off the wall until I fell backward and knocked over my laundry basket.

Knock knock

"Y/N? Honey, are you okay?" My mom spoke through the door.

"I'm okay! I'm just.. I'm just cleaning!"

"Are you sure? I-I don't want you to be hurt!" My mom began to rattle the doorknob trying to get in.

I stood up and ran to my door, leaning against it. "No, Mama, I'm okay. I'm fine."

She hummed and left the door alone. I turned and looked at my room, which is a fucking mess now.

But woah. That is cool. This is cool.

But I have to clean my room now, and I guarantee that it'll take me 2 hours to clean.

-

"I'm kinda nervous.." I whispered to my mom. She tapped my shoulder and laughed for a moment.

"He's your dad. There is literally nothing to be nervous about."

"Yeah, but he hasn't visited us in like months! I'm not even sure I remember what he looks like." I groaned and leaned back onto my couch, hints of Miles' cologne flooded my nostrils.

"You'll be fine. Seguro que está emocionado por verte." She leaned down next to me and placed a small kiss on my forehead.

(I'm sure he's excited to see you.)

I smiled and fixed my posture. Although my mom told me not to he nervous... I was still nervous.

My mom got up from the couch when some small knocks were placed on the door. I thought back to what Rio said.

Mrs. Morales leaned a little closer and whispered. "You know, I heard she's been going out with the mailman."

No doubt it wasn't true, either. I heard them. I guess I just don't know how I feel about my mom cheating on my dad and her being so excited that he's coming to visit.

My mom opened the door and gasped with a smile. She opened her arms, "Hi honey!"

"Oh, I've missed you so much!" He pulled away and walked into the house. "Now. Where is my N/N?"

He walked over to me and engulfed me in a hug. I hugged back and smiled. I'm glad he was back.

"Look at you. You've grown so much in these past months!" My dad gave me another big smile while he pulled away.

My mom peeked her head over my dads shoulder and looked at me. "Y/N, how about you go out and hang with your friends while me and your dad catch up?"

"What? I want to hang out with my dad." I stood up from the couch and frowned. I can't believe she was sending me off already!

"Aw, baby, please don't do that to your mother. You know we need to catch up. I'll hang out with you later, okay?"

"But-"

"Y/N. Now."

"...okay." I grumbled. I threw on my shoes and grabbed my things. I walked out of the house and refrained from slamming the door shut.

I huffed some air and walked to the local playground. Since a lot of the kids in my neighborhood are more grown, the playground is rarely used, so there's a part in the overgrowth that hides a bench.

It's perfect for privacy, really.

I pushed through the brush and sat down on the bench. I pulled out my phone and re-noticed that unknown number again.

Damn. This bitch went out of her way to find my number and text me this shit. It feels like she's obsessed. I haven't thought about her since the last time I saw her.

I shut off my phone and looked up at the sky. It was clear. Which was usually nice, but it was a too hot.

"I wonder how Miles is doing right now..." I caught myself muttering. If there were someone around, I'd ask them to punch me.

"UUGGGHHHH," I groaned. I got up from the bench, moved through the brush, and left the park.

It's like I could walk around and still not find anything to do. Seriously, they kicked me out as if I had a plan.

-

So about an hour and a half of walking in Brooklyn, I stopped at foam party. I didn't really have money to buy myself a drink, so I sat at a table and pretended I was busy.

I gazed out the window and examined the people passing by. Some tall, some short, that girl, she's really tall.

Over in the distance, I saw a small beam of light flash for a moment, catching my attention.

It seemed as if no one else saw it, and I saw someone in a black suit with red stripes jump into the light. It quickly disappeared when the two prowlers appeared.

"Y/N?"

I turned my attention back to the world and looked to where the voice was coming from.

"Oh, María. I didn't know you went to foam party?"

"I usually don-"

"Y/N!"

María and Christine in the same place at the same time within 5 feet is crazy.

"Oh... you're here with... Christine?"

"Yeah, well, she was looking for you but i told her you were sick. What happened to that, by the way?" Christine and María both took their seats in front of me.

"I think it's a uhm... you know..." I leaned forward a little bit and whispered, "a spider power."

They both nodded and looked at each other. Here, I got a little jealous because I thought Christine hated María but now they're hanging out.

"So. Did you get your suit? How does it fit?" María reached into her bag and pulled out a notepad. "This is for Freddy, by the way."

"Oh, it fit perfectly. Even the web shooters. I'd definitely need more practice, though." I watched as she wrote some things down on her notepad and then shoved it back in.

The three of us sat in silence for a few moments, not knowing what to say.

"..so... what'd I miss today in physics?" I nervously moved my foot up and down as the conversation became more awkward.

"Katrina was throwing a fit that Miles wasn't there, and Jackson was sitting in your spot."

Oh! Well, back to the quietness.

"Hey, María. Do you think Katrina and Miles make a good couple?" Christine piped in.

María nodded her head no and sighed. "She's really toxic for him. Speaking as her best friend, she's still cheating on him."

"Whaaatt?? With whom?" This piqued my interest. Using this, maybe Miles might realize what a terrible girl he was dating.

"I think his name was Isaiah."

"Miles' friend?" Christine looked at me, and then María. The realization dawned on me.

If I could somehow expose Katrina and Isaiah to Miles... then maybe, just maybe, he would figure out that what he's doing is wrong.

No. That's stupid. I need to get over Miles, he's a terrible guy.

"Y/N, as much as I like Miles and I love my best friend, you need to separate them."

That was the last thing I expected to come from Marías mouth.

"Wait, you said you love your best friend?" Chrstine held a laugh in.

"Are you stupid or something? Friendship love-"

"No. She's right."

"WHAT? You like Katrina?" Christine and I's eyes widened when we found out that María had a secret crush on Katrina.

"Obviously. But she likes her men just as I do. It's a stupid phase. It'll go away." María leaned back and crossed her arms, glaring at the table.

Christine glanced at me for a moment before leaning back in her chair, too. "Wh- are you like Bi or something? I mean, I'm not homophobic or anything"

"I said it's a phase! It doesn't mean anything." Her attitude grew a little bigger, but Christine seemed to be extremely curious.

"And uhm, how long have you... you know, felt that way?"

"Stupid questions from stupid people. For like 3 months, but it's a phase."

"María... you know, never mind. I need to like... go or somethijg." I stood up from the table and grabbed my bag.

"Wh- wait, Y/N, don't go." Christine grabbed my arm in hopes I would stay. To be completely honest, I was getting tired, and I wanted to go home.

"Sorry. Hang out with María more, okay?" I pulled my arm away and waved goodbye. I slowly walked to the front door of the store until Jackson decided to enter.

Why is everyone at Foam Party today?

"Oh- Y/N! I missed you today!" He smiled and hugged me slightly. "I just had a pickup order. Stay right there."

I fakely smiled at him and just stood there. I watched him walk up to the counter and grab a drink. He turned around and smiled at me.

He opened the door with his free hand and held it open for me. "You wanna come to my place?"

I guess that wouldn't be so bad, wouldn't it?

"Your mom would let me? I guess I don't see a problem." I smiled and followed him at the door. I didn't notice Christine and María eyeing us both down.

-

"Weren't you sick? What happened to that?" Jackson asked me as he led me to his room. That was the second time I was asked that today.

"I just needed air. But I'm better." I mumbled. I didn't really know what to say. I wanted to be at home with my family.

He opened the door to his room and stood there proudly, waiting for me to say something about it.

"Your room looks nice." I smiled out. His face beamed as he ushered me inside of it.

"Y/N, I've been waiting for this for so long," he muttered under his breath. He shut the door to his room, and quickly hugged me.

"Oh- "

"Okay, okay, okay, take a seat on my bed and get comfortable. I'm gonna go get snacks!"

He rushed out of the room while I sat down. Damn, his bed was comffyyyy.

As I settled onto his cozy bed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. Jackson's genuine concern had drawn me away from my worries, if only momentarily. The room, though simple, held an inviting atmosphere with its soft lighting and neatly arranged items.

I took a moment to observe the posters on his wall and the books neatly stacked on his shelves. It was clear that this was his sanctuary, a place where he felt most at ease.

Just as I was beginning to appreciate the ambiance, Jackson returned with an assortment of snacks, placing them on a small table beside his bed. He handed me a bag of chips and a soda before taking a seat beside me.

"So, you and Miles? He said you blocked him?" Jackson cracked open his soda and took a big chug. All the worries flooded back to me. Why does everything have to involve Miles?

"Yeah.. I did block him. Why?" I opened my chips and almost grabbed one, but I wasn't feeling that hungry.

"I just wanted to know. Hey, I have an idea. Let me see your phone?" Jackson stuck out his hand, waiting for me to hand it to him.

"Why?"

"Please. Pleaseeee." He leaned closer, his soda breath wafting into my face. "Puh leaseee."

"Fine, fine." I unlocked my phone and gave it to him. He was under my supervision. I don't think anything bad would happen, would it?

He grabbed my phone and went to the messages. He unblocked Miles and began typing.

"Yo, what are you doing? Give me my phone!" I reached over and tried to grab it, but he moved away and started to laugh.

"Not until I'm done!"

"Jackson, this isn't funny!" I grabbed his arm, but he pulled me down onto his chest while still typing.

"Okay, okay, I'm done. Here, you can have your phone back," he laughed out. I quickly took my phone and gasped.

Miles.

Heyy, can we meet up? I wanna talk to youuu

"Jackson, what the hell! Dude, I'm leaving." I got up from his bed angerly. seriously, what am I supposed to do now? No doubt he's already gotten the notification, and I can't just block him again. And i-

"Did he respond? Tell him late at night." Jackson laughed some more as I threw more glares at him.

I groaned and looked at Jackson again, who was amused with this whole thing.

"Well, you could always not show up."

"But that's mean. You probably got his hopes up, so I have to show up now." I huffed out some air and grabbed my things.

"Wait, where are you going? You just got here?" Jackson got up from his bed and walked toward me, his arms opened as he tried to get me to stay.

"I'm going home. You pissed me off." I moved away from him and to the door. I sighed for a moment, really thinking about what he just got me into.

"Y/N, I'm sorry. Really, I am. Please, stay." He walked closer to me and held onto the door so that I wouldn't leave.

I shook my head no and sighed. I pushed past Jackson and left his room, making my way down the stairs and out of his house.

-

When I walked through the front door of my house, a nice smell filled my nostrils. My mom made cookies in celebration of my dad coming back.

They were both sat on the couch asleep as the TV quietly played. I smiled and shut the front door. I walked up to my room, trying to be as quiet as possible.

When I entered my room, I saw that the window was open and I groaned.

Prowler was there on my bed. He seemed to have been waiting for me.

Why can't I have a second alone today?

"Why're you in my house?" I quickly glanced around my room to make sure I hid all of my suit and gears. When I was in the clear, I walked closer to him.

"I know you missed me. Haven't seen me in a while, huh?" He chuckled quietly before getting up and walking to me.

When he got closer, my spider senses went off, but... something about him made it feel so familiar.

"Prowler.. why are you in my house?" My tone became a little more mean, but I didn't care. There's a villain in my house, and I'm the good guy. I'm supposed to be stopping him.

"Awww, come on... I know you missed me, Mama." He wrapped his arms around my waist, looking at me with his LED eyes.

His scent. That's what was so familar. He smelled like Miles. Exactly like him. Cocoa butter and that damn cologne.

"I.. I think you should leave." I pulled myself away from him. I didn't want him near me, especially if he smelled like the one person I didn't want to talk to.

"I'll be back soon. You just won't know when." He chuckled before backing away and jumping out of the window.

That made me terrified. Miles isn't the Prowler, obviously not. You know, I think I remember meeting like 4 other people who smell exactly like that.

I walked to my window and looked out. He wasn't in sight anymore. So I shut the window and sighed.

And I still have to go meet with Miles at 10. Thanks alot Jackson.
