[After their adventures in the Pokémon Tower, our heroes have made their way back to Saffron City. Ash and Charmander were looking out at Saffron City]
Ash:We made it, Charmander!
[Charmander nods in agreement with its trainer].
Ash:And this time, I KNOW we're gonna win! Right, Green? [Ash asked his best friend]
Green:With a Ghost Pokémon helping you, your victory in the Saffron Gym is guaranteed.
Fern:Ivysaur [Fern said as Cubone nodded in agreement with its trainer and his starter's opinions]
Ash:What about you, Brock? [Ash asked the former Pewter Gym leader]
[They turn to see Brock standing a few feet away]
Brock:Uh, if you say so. [he said nervously]
Ash:What's the matter?
Charmander:Char?" [Charmander asked]
Green:Could it be that you're scared of Haunter?
Fern:Ivysaur? [Bulbasar asked while Cubone cocked his head in confusion] Brock:I Think I'm allergic to ghosts. Kinda feel sorta dizzy.
Lexus:Come on, Brock. Haunter can't be that bad.
Misty:Please. You couldn't be afraid of such a cute little thing.
[Haunter then begins to nuzzle Misty making her giggle]
Lexus:Misty is right. Haunter is kinda sweet once you get to know it.
Brock:Cute, right [Brock said as he backs up slightly]
[Haunter then licks Misty in the face. Ash and Green gasps as they saw Misty paralyzed]
Misty:It just crossed the cute line. [she said before falling over]
Lexus:What happened to Misty?
GreenI think Haunter used Lick on her [He explained] It's a Ghost type attack that has a chance of paralyzing opponents.
Carwyn:Cubone [Carwyn said as he hid behind Fern].
Ash:Haunter, you paralyzed her! [Ash scolds at Haunter]
[This caused Haunter to burst into tears. Ash softens his glare]
Ash:Hey, Haunter. It's really not that big a deal.
Green:Yeah. You didn't mean to paralyzed Misty. You were just being playful.
[Hearing this caused Haunter to cheer up. It then goes up to Ash]
Ash:Haunter, in Saffron City there's a trainer named Sabrina who uses Psychic Pokémon. Ghost Pokémon are strong against Psychic Pokémon, right? Will you help me defeat her?
[Haunter nods it's head]
Lexus:Looks like Haunter agrees with you.
Ash:Yes! That Marsh badge is as good as mine! [Ash yelled]
Green:Let's get down there!
Fern:Ivysaur!" [Fern said]
Carwyn:Cubone [Carwyn added]
[The gang were standing outside the Saffron Gym]
Ash:That Sabrina sure showed us up last time. She made Pikachu and me look like a joke! [Ash thought as he recalled his last gym battle against the Saffron Gym leader ]This time the joke's on her.
Green:You said it, buddy
Misty:We're with you all the way.
Fern:Ivysaur! [Fern said]
Carwyn:Cubone! [ Carwyn added]
[They then notice that Lexus, Brock, and Charmander weren't there]
Green:Where did everyone go?
Ash:Hey. Brock? Lexus? Guys?
Misty:They're right over there [she points to the left]
[The boys and Pokémon turn to see Lexus, Brock, and Charmander cheering on Ash while holding some flags and banners]
Lexus:Go give it your best shot, Ash!
Brock:Yeah, let us know how it turns out!
Charmander:Char,Char Mander!
Green:You gotta be kidding me [He said with a facepalm]
Fern:Ivysaur" [Fern said in annoyance].
Carwyn:Cubone [Carwyn said as he placed his bone over his eyes]
Misty:Come on, you guys!
Ash:Stop goofing around! Aren't you even coming in with us?!
Lexus:Last time she wanted to play with us and pretended we were her bowling pins. Remember?
Brock:And she almost bowled a strike!
Misty:Was it really that bad?
Lexus:It was, misty.
Ash:Now that I got Haunter, that won't happen again. [Ash said confidently]
Brock:I wouldn't be too sure, Ash. What if Haunter is the one who's controlling you? [Brock asked cautiously. Ash and Green looked at each other and smile at them]
Ash:Me and Haunter are pals!
[Haunter the begins to laugh]
Green:Yeah. Haunter chose to help Ash. There's no way it would do that.
Lexus:Haunter isn't worried at all. [She said nervously].
Brock:It's pretty confident. [Brock added]
Char! [Charmander said ]
Lexus:I guess Ash must be rubbing off on Haunter [Lexus said as she was next to Jake]
Ash:You got nothing to worry about. With Haunter on my side, I'm guaranteed to win that badge! Now, wish me luck.
Trio:Good luck [Lexus, Brock, and misty said]
Green:Go get her, Ash [Green said].
Ash:Thanks buddy [Ash said before letting out his Pokémon]
Pikachu:Pika Pika! [Pikachu said upon being let out]
Squirtle:Squirtle!
Squirtle:Squirtle [Squirtle said after it is released]
Bulbasaur:Bulbasaur!
Bulbasaur:Bulbasaur [Ash's Bulbasaur said when it is out]
Ash:Are you all ready to face Sabrina?!
[His Pokémon and Haunter all say their agreement]
[The gang then made their way inside the gym. Ash was standing on the battlefield facing Sabrina who was on her throne]
Ash:Sabrina, I've come back here to your gym to demand a rematch.
Doll:Another battle? Even after my Kadabra beat up your Pikachu during the last match? You don't have a chance.[The doll taunted]
Ash:This time, you won't have it so easy.
Doll:If you lose, you'll have to play with me again.
[Sabrina levitates off her throne and onto the battlefield. The lights turn on as she did so]
Doll:You know. Your friend Green and his Beedrill were able to defeat me. He defeated Kadabra with a type advantage. I highly doubt you would do the same, Ash.
Sabrina:Go Kadabra [Sabrina said as the doll throws the Poké Ball to let Kadabra out]
Kadabra:Kadabra
Ash:And I choose as my Pokémon, Haunter! Go, Haunter!
Sabrina:So, you captured a Ghost Pokémon, did you?
[Unfortunately, Haunter was nowhere to be seen]
Sabrina:Where is it? [Sabrina asked as her Kadabra looked around]
Misty:Good question [She asked]. Misty:Where did Haunter go?
Fern:Ivysaur?" [Fern asked]
Carwyn:Cubone?" [He said as rubbed his bone on his head. Ash gasped when he noticed Haunter is missing]
Ash:Haunter? Hey! Haunter! Where'd you go?!" he called before taking out a megaphone [Will Haunter please report to the floor?!] Green:This is bad,How's he's gonna beat Sabrina now?
Brock:Looks like the Ghost Pokémon got spooked.
Misty:Haunter is not the most dependable Pokémon in the world.
Green:Especially when it ditched us for some reason.
Ash:Haunter! [Ash yelled with tears in his eyes]
Sabrina:Enough stalling. Send out your Pokémon at once, or you'll all go back to the toy box. [Sabrina threatened]
[This caused the gang to pale at this threat. Even Carwyn shivered as he doesn't want to know what that would feel like]
Brock:Great! Back where we started! [Brock grumbled]
Misty:Forget Haunter, send out another one!
Green:You heard them, Ash [Green gulped]Do it before we're all her playthings.
Ash:Right! [Ash said] Pikachu!
[But Pikachu, remembering his defeat at the hands of Kadabra, refuses to battle as he backs away]
Ash:Pikachu! [Ash yelled before turning to his starters ] Charmander! Bulbasaur! Squirtle!
[But they too backed away as they don't want to faced Kadabra]
Ash:You won't help me?
Green:Oh man. None of Ash's Pokémon want to battle.
Lexus:What'll he do?
Sabrina:Well, are you ready yet?
Ash:Yeah, just a sec. [Ash replied nervously]
Sabrina:The battle will begin now! [Sabrina yelled]
[Frightened, Ash hold his arms in a cross]
Ash:I quit! [he cried before he and his Pokémon ran out the door]
Sabrina:Quit?
Green:Not without us, Ash! [Green yelled as he and his Pokémon follow after them]
Misty:Hey! Wait for us!
Brock:Hurry!
Lexus:Let's get the FUDGE out of here! [She yelled as they followed after the boys]
Doll:It's fun to catch them.
[The shutter leading to the main door of the gym begins to slide down]
Ash:The exit! [Ash yelled as he, Green, and their Pokémon continue to run]
[But it was too late. The door completely closes just as they reached it]
Green:She sealed us in!
Brock:We're trapped! [Brock yelled as he, Misty, and Lexus ran up]
[Suddenly, Sabrina's doll appeared over them. She then used her psychic powers on Brock, Misty, and Lexus. They screamed as they were transformed into dolls]
Ash:Brock! Misty! [He yelled]
Green:Lexus! [He yelled]
[The dolls then dropped onto the floor]
Ash:They're dolls! [Ash said as he and Green looked at them]
[Sabrina's doll then floats in front of them]
Green:And I think we're next[He gulped]
Doll:Now I'm going to turn all of you into dolls!
[Ash's Pokémon panics and hid behind their trainer. Carwyn also panicked and hid behind Fern who was glaring at the doll.
Ash:Hey! Take it easy! [Ash said before looking at the Sabrina's doll who is just about to turn him and his friend into dolls]
Green:Looks like this is the end for us [Green thought in worry]
[Suddenly, the same stranger that they had encountered teleported in front of them]
Green:Hey. Aren't you that guy that warned us not to come here?
Ash:Where did you come from?
Man:Sometimes you gotta retreat to win. [the man said] Teleportation.
[And with that, they were teleported away. Sabrina walked up in front of the dolls]
Misty:He's back.
[Meanwhile, the stranger teleported out in the park. Ash, Green, and their Pokémon ended up in the air. They fell right on top of the man].
Green:That's going to takes some getting use to" [He said who was on top of Ash's starter Pokémon along with Ash]
Fern:Ivysaur [Fern said as it and Carwyn were on top of him]
Pikachu:Pika Pika.
Ash:Hey, Pikachu! I'm glad you're safe, but would you please get off my back?
Pikachu:Pika pi.
Green:And do you mind getting off my back too, Fern? Carwyn?
Man:Will you all please get off mine?[the man asked]
[After getting off of each other, Ash's Bulbasaur was taking a nap while Ash's Squirtle was chasing after Ash's Charmander. Fern was seen talking with Carwyn. Ash, Green, and the man were sitting on a bench].
Ash:Sabrina's the meanest trainer I ever met. [He said with a sigh].
Green:I know. How can someone like her ever turned out like this [Green added.] Man:She wasn't always such a mischievous girl. [the man said]
Ash:You mean you knew Sabrina before she changed?
Green:I'm with Ash. How do you know Sabrina?
Man:Huh? Well, I've. I've heard stories. [the man said as he began to tell his story]
[A flashback shows Sabrina as a young girl practicing her psychic powers on some silverware and breaking the holder. She was also seen attempting to test her powers on a golf club]
Mother:Please, stop, Sabrina. That's enough!
Father:That's not a toy! [He scolded as the father took the golf club away]
[In response to this, Sabrina unleashed her psychic powers on her parents which flings them away]
Man:Though she was very young, Sabrina became completely obsessed with her psychic training.
[We see Sabrina using her powers to completely melt down her house]
Man:She didn't want to make friends. All she wanted was to be left alone to develop her powers. [the man continued]
[The flashback ends and returns us to the present]
Man:Her parents tried to help, but Sabrina used her psychic powers to drive them away. [the man said as he took out a photo and gives it to Ash ]The conflict caused Sabrina to split into two girls. The strong Pokémon trainer who is always causing trouble, and the lonely little girl who desperately desires to make friends. That doll that Sabrina always holds represents her true self, before her training. Before she rejected her own heart.
[Ash and Green look at the photo. It was of young Sabrina with her parents]
Green:She looks really happy in that photo [He said with some sympathy]
Ash:Sabrina had this picture of her family in her room.
Green:She does?
Ash:I saw it when Sabrina shrunk me, Brock, and Lexus into her toybox [Ash explained before turning to the man ]If you have the same picture, then that must mean you are.."
[The man flinched in surprise]
' Does he know? He must have figured it out by now, along with his friend. After everything I've said, they must have figured out the truth about Sabrina and me. He must realize that I'm Sabrina's father.' the man thought
Green:He does know Sabrina well. Could this man be? [He wondered]
Ash:Then that must mean you're a photographer![Ash said to the man]
[This caused the man to fall over in disbelief. Even Ferrn and Carwyn fell over as they stopped to hear the story]
Green:Huh? [He said in confusion and just pure annoyance]
[The man got up looking very annoyed]
Man:Don't you see!? Don't you get it!? [he snapped]
Ash:Get what?
[Green can only face palm at how dense Ash was]
Man:Never mind [groaned the man]
Green:Let's put that aside for now. Green:Our friends are in trouble.
Ash:Yeah. Sabrina turned Misty, Brock, and Lexus into dolls.
Father:There's nothing we can do about that. [Sabrina's father sighed]
Green:What do you mean, sir?
Father:The only way to rescue your friends is to defeat Sabrina. Isn't that why you traveled to Lavender Town to get a Ghost Pokémon?
Green:Actually, my friend Ash didn't catch a Ghost Pokémon. One kinda followed us on our way back here. It's a Haunter by the way.
Ash:But Haunter's disappeared someplace. [Ash added]
Father:Than you two must find Haunter first. Without it, you'll never be able to defeat Sabrina and her Psychic Pokémon.
Ash:I guess not [Ash sighed]
Green:Not to mention, saving our friends [Green said as he stood up ]Come on, Ash. We got a Ghost Pokémon to find.
Ash:Right [he too stood up]
Father:I wish you two luck" the man said
[After Ash recalled his starter Pokémon, he ,Green, Charmander , Fern, and Carwyn were walking through Saffron City in search of Haunter]
Ash:Charmander. Where do you think Haunter could be?
Charmander:Char char. [Charmander replied]
Ash:What about you, Green? Do you know where Haunter is? [Ash asked his best friend]
Green:I don't know, Ash. Saffron City is very large It'll be hard to find a Ghost Pokémon around here.
Fern:Ivysaur.
Carwyn:Bone[He added]
Ash:Great [Ash sighed]
Green:But there's one thing I don't get. Why would Haunter leave us like this?
Ash:Yeah. Haunter agreed to help me fight Sabrina. I just don't understand why it would chicken out.
Ash:What do you think, Green?
Green:If I were to guess, Haunter probably had second thoughts. Or Haunter is not much of a fighter.
Ash:That the might be case. Haunter does like to play pranks.
Charmander:Charmander [Charmander added]
Green:I was actually lucky that I beat Sabrina.
Ash:I know. You did say that Psychic types are weak against Bug types.
Green:Uh huh. It was thanks to Beedrill that I was able to win [Green said proudly]
Carwyn:Cubone? [ Carwyn asked Fern]
Fern:Ivysaur saur [Fern said as it said it would explain it to him another time]
Ash:Too bad I Didn't use my Butterfree. I would've had a chance.
GreenThat is true. But on the plus Side if we can't find Haunter you can use butterfree I'll even have it train with Beedrill to make sure you win.
[Ash smiled[
Ash:You're right, Green. Thanks [he replied]
[As they continue walking through the streets of Saffron City, the boys heard the sound of crashing. Ash, Green, and their Pokémon turn around in alarm]
Ash:Huh? What was that?!
Green:Judging by what we are seeing, it looked like somebody fell from a building and crashed through the sidewalk [he looked at some holes].
[They walked over to see Team Rocket lying in the holes unconscious]
Ash:It's Team Rocket! [He yelled]
Green:I'm surprised they're not dead. [Green said as he sees them barely alive]
Fern:Ivy [Fern said]
Carwyn:Cubone [Carywyn said as he widens his eyes at the unconscious trio]
Green:Yes, Carwyn. Those guys are from Team Rocket. These guys have been after us since our journey began.
[Carwyn glared at the trio as he never forgot what they had did to his mother. Then, Haunter appeared]
Ash:Haunter! You stopped them from capturing Charmander and Fern!
Green:And I can definitely see why [he looks at the net in James' hand]
Ash:Way to go! Now, let's get back to Sabrina's gym!
[Haunter looked confused at what he said]
Green:Come on, Haunter. You're my friend's best chance at fighting Sabrina's Psychic Pokémon [He pleaded]
Ash:Yeah. You promised you'd help me battle Sabrina! I can't beat her Psychic Pokémon without you.
Haunter:Haunt Haunt Haunt [Haunter said in refusal]
Green:Is that why you left us in middle of Ash's gym battle? Could it be that you don't want to battle?
Haunter:Haunter [Haunter said as it nods his head]
Ash:Please, you can't let her make a fool out of me. [Ash begged]
Green:What he said. You gotta do this for us. If you don't beat Sabrina, then who will?
Haunter:Haunter! [Haunter replied as it agrees to help them]
Green:Looks like Haunter agrees to help us.
Ash:Oh, gee. Thanks, Haunter! Thank you! Just help us save our friends and you'll never have to help me out again!
Haunter:Haunt Haunt Haunt Haunt Haunt.
Green:Come on everyone. Let's head back to the Saffron Gym.
Fern:Ivysaur [fern replied]
Carwyn:Cubone [Carwyn added]
Ash:Right. Let's go!
Charmander:Charmander! [The fire starter said]
[And they all head back to the Saffron Gym]
Green:I sure hope Misty, Brock, and Lexus are doing okay [thought Green] Who knows what Sabrina will do to them now that they're dolls.
[Back in the Saffron Gym, Sabrina had just placed Misty, Brock, and Lexus in her toy box. Misty and Brock are on a sofa while Lexus was placed on a chair in one of the houses.]
Brock:Misty, Lexus, what do you think is gonna happen to us?
Misty:I don't know. I've never been a doll before.
Lexus:And I don't like being one.
Brock:I don't even like dolls! Are we gonna stay stuck this way forever?
Female voice:That depends. It's up to Sabrina
Lexus:Who said that?
[They look in surprise to see another doll sitting on a chair]
Misty:That other doll just spoke. [Misty said in surprise]
Mother:It's nice to have company. I'm Sabrina's mother. [She greeted]
Lexus:No way! [She said in surprised]
Brock:Her mother?! [Brock yelled in shock]
Misty:She turned you into a doll too?
Mother:Please, don't think badly of Sabrina. She's really a good daughter.
Lexus:That's hard to believe
[They then heard giggling. The roof was taken off to reveal Sabrina and her doll]
Doll:My new dolls are so cute!
[Misty, Brock, and Lexus gasped]
Doll:What game should I play first with my brand new Brock, Misty, and Lexus dolls? Maybe we can have tea. [The doll guessed]
Brock:Sabrina! Turn us back into humans right now![He pleaded]
Lexus:You can't leave us as dolls forever!
Misty:I challenge you to a match! If I win, you gotta change us back!
Doll:If I change you back, you'll just run away from me. You have to stay as dolls! We'll play together all the time and we'll all be friends forever.
Ash:Sabrina! [He called]
[This gets the Saffron Gym Leader's attention]
Sabrina:I knew he'd be back. [she muttered]
[Ash, Charmander, and Haunter were facing Sabrina on the battlefield. Green, Fern, and Carwyn were in the back to cheer him on. Brock, Misty, and Lexus were placed on her throne]
Sabrina:Have you returned for more humiliation? Haven't you realized that you'll never defeat me?[Sabrina asked coldly]
Ash:Brock, Misty, and Lexus are my friends, and I can't leave them behind! Not even if you turn me, my friend and all our Pokémon into dolls!
Group:Ash! [his friends yelled]
Doll:If you and your friend want to be a doll, too, I'll be glad to play with you. It'll be a one on one battle. Sabrina's Pokémon will be.. [the doll said as Kadabra appears on the battlefield]
Kadabra:Kadabra!
Green:As usual [He commented]
Fern:Saur" [Fern nod it's head]
Carwyn:Cubone [He added]
Ash:And for my Pokémon, I choose Haunter!
Sabrina:Haunter?
Doll:Well, where is your Pokémon?
[The boys then realize that Haunter has disappeared again]
Ash:Oh no! Not again!" Ash yelled
Green:And just when it promised to help us! [He sighed feeling disappointed in ghost type]
[Fern can only facepalm while Carwyn looked around]
Sabrina:Why don't you forfeit?
Doll:That way I can have new dolls to play with.
Green:Uh oh! Quick ash send someone else out now!
Bulbasaur and Cubone both gulped when they heard Sabrina's doll say this
Ash:Haunter! Haunter! You promised me! Where'd you go!? Please, stop hiding! Haunter! Haunter!" [Ash called out]
[Charmander was a little disappointed that Haunter disappeared again]
Sabrina:This time you won't escape.
Doll:My new dollies [The doll laughed]
Boys:Dollies!? [They yelled]
Ash:then I got no choice Butterfree I choose you! [Ash sends out his bug as it flaps it's wings ready to battle]
Sabrina:Is this some kind of joke? [she asked emotionlessly]
Ash:It's not this is Pokemon that will grant me victory and my friends freedom!
Sabrina:We shall see. [Sabrina said before her eyes glow red ]Kadabra Teleport.
[Kadabra teleports away. Ash and Beedrill look around to know where it is]
Ash:Keep your eyes peeled, Butterfree. You never know when Kadabra will strike.
[Butterfree looks around until Kadabra appeared behind him. ,ash saw this]
Ash:Behind you, Butterfree!
[Butterfree looks behind to see Kadabra]
Sabrina:Kadabra, Confusion.
Ash:Quick butterfree, fly up!
[Butterfree quickly flew in the air before Kadabra can use his move].
Green:Wow. And I thought Beedrill was fast [Green commented]
Fern:Saur [Ferb said]
[Carywn just look at them confused]
Sabrina:Kadabra, Psybeam.
[Kadabra then appeared in front of Butterfree. Kadabra then uses Psybeam which knocks Butterfree back]
Ash:Try to hang on, Butterfree!
[Butterfree got up and fired a new move Bug buzz at Kadabra full blast which hits it and leaving Kadabra hurt with super effective damage]
Green:Whoa! You got it, Ash!
[Fern and Carywn cheered for Butterfree]
Ash:That's it!
Sabrina:Recover!
[Kadabra used Recover to heal itself from the Bug buzz attack much to Ash and Green's shock].
Green:Oh no.
Doll:It's impossible to win. [Sabrina said as her doll laughs]
[Suddenly, Haunter appeared in front of Sabrina]
Boys:Haunter?! [They yelled in surprise]
[Haunter then looks at Sabrina and begins to laugh]
Doll:Two against one's not fair! [The doll yelled]
Green:What's Haunter doing?
[Then, Sabrina's father teleported into the gym]
Father:It's just playing around on its own. Haunter is not battling against you, so it isn't against the rules.
[The boys watched as Haunter begins to make faces at Sabrina. The Saffron Gym leader blinked as she watches Haunted lick his eyes off it's face and show it on his tongue. Haunter then takes out a bomb much to everyone's shock].
Green:Uh oh! [yelled Green as he covered his ears while Fern and Carywn duck down]
[The bomb the explodes causing everyone to gasp. As the smoke subsided, Sabrina was still alive except she is covered in soot. Haunter begins to laugh at the joke it made]
Green:Well, at least no one got hurt [he took his hands off his ears]
[After a few minutes, Sabrina's mouth curled into a smile]
Man:She smiled [the man gasped]
[Then, Sabrina bursts into laughter while joining Haunter's laughing]
Ash:Is that Sabrina laughing?
Green:It sure is buddy[he and his Pokémon walk up]
Father:Ever since she started her telekinetic training as a little girl, I've never seen Sabrina laugh like this. I've never seen her so happy in my entire life![tears flows from his eyes]
Green:I guess it's true what they say: Laughter is the best medicine[he watched Sabrina continue laughing]
Ash:But, if you've known Sabrina ever since she was a little girl, does that mean..?
Father:You figured it out, eh? [He assumed].
Ash:You must've taken her baby pictures, too!
[This caused the man to fall over while Green couldn't take it anymore he strangled him like Homer Simpson
Green:No, Ash! This man is really Sabrina's father,do you hear me father,dad pops,Daddy GOT IT!!! [He said as ash taps him many times as he lets go finally realizing this ].
[Sabrina's father then got up]
Father:Your friend is right! Just how dense can a person be!? [Sabrina's father said before recomposing himself ] But I'm glad you came back. That Haunter has helped Sabrina rediscover the human part of her heart.
Ash:What do you mean?! Haunter was supposed to beat the Psychic Pokémon and instead its making friends with Sabrina! Me and my friend are gonna be dolls!
Father:Look over there[he points forward]
[The boys look to see Kadabra rolling on the ground laughing]
Ash:I don't get it. It looks like Kadabra's in pain.
Father:It's not in any pain. Kadabra and Sabrina are joined telepathically. Kadabra is a-rolling with laughter, just like Sabrina.
Green:I remembered that during my gym battle against Sabrina.
Father:That's right.
[Ash can only drop his jaw in disbelief. Green simply pushed his jaw back up. Haunter continues to do it's comedy routine while Sabrina continues to laugh.
