Narrator:We join our heroes as they are still lost on the way to Vermillion City. Ash is currently looking through some binoculars to find a new Pokémon, but all he ended up finding were some Spearows. Until spotting what looks like a tiny Pikachu. Ash's Pokédex:Pichu Tiny mouse Pokémon,shiny form, Pichu stores electricity in the sacs on its cheeks but discharges it inadvertently when agitated or excited. Being yet immature, the Pokémon's handling of electricity is rather inept. Ash:Wow a pichu I'm gonna catch it Bulbsaur, start the battle off with Tackle [He said he released his bulbasaur]
[Bulbasaur charges in and leaps for a tackle attack, but Pichu dodges the attack. He then begins to uses Thundershock]
Ash:It's using Thundrshock. Bulbasaur dodge and use vine whip!
[Bulbasaur dodges the Thundershock attack. It then used vine whip to squeeze Pichu which angers him]
Green:Good work, Bulbasaur. Now try tackle!
[Bulbasaur rushed forward slamming into Pichu hard as it struggles getting up ].
Ash:That's great Bulbasaur![said Ash as he takes out a Poké Ball] Okay now. Go Poké Ball!
[He throws the Poké Ball at Pichu. It hits and sucks Pichu inside .The Poké Ball shakes two times and then locks. Ash smiles as he picks up the Poké Ball.]
Ash:Oh yeah!Pichu, is mine!
Bulbasaur:Bulbasaur! [He said victoriously he returns bulbasaur after the battle].
[he looks for more Pokémon all he sees are spearows sadly ]Ash:There's nothing but Spearow around here. On plus side I at least got Pichu.
Lexus:Well that's the least of our worries, isn't it?!
Ash:Just because we're a little lost, doesn't mean I have to catch all the Pokémon I can doesn't it?
Charmander:Char
Green:And just when we thought our luck would change after we left the hidden village.
Lexus:I know. Once again, we are lost in the woods without any sense of directions
Fern:Saur [said Green Bulbasaur]
LexusI'm going crazy! Where are we!?"
[Green pulls a map out of his bag].
Green:According to this, we're right in the middle of Nowhere. But it looks like Route 24 leads right to Vermillion City. [he said as he pointed where they are on the map.] Lexus:Does this trail take us to Route 24? Green:According to my calculations, it does.
Lexus:Alright! Then let's get this show on the road!" [she grabs her bag and runs down the trail. But she stops when she sees something ahead. Huh? Hey guys. Take look at this.
[Everyone also looks over]
Ash:It must be some kind of giant Pokémon.
[Charmander hid behind a bag in fright].
Ash:Charmander [Ash said in annoyance].
[The group then gets closer to the figure. When they got a closer look, they see that it is a Charmander on a rock.]
Brock:A Charmander?
Green:One of the starter Pokémon.
Charmamder:Char
[This caused Ash, Brock, and Lexus to fall over. Green at them with a sweat drop].
Fern:Saur [Fern said as it shook it's head].
[After recovering from falling over, Ash gets up as Green scans Charmander with his Pokédex]
Green's Pokédex: Charmander. A flame burns on the tip of its tail from birth. It is said that a Charmander dies if its flame ever goes out.
[Lexus widens her eyes at that]
Lexus:Wait. Did it say that Charmander will die if the flame on it's tail goes out?
Green:It sure did.
Lexus:It looks like it's in bad shape.
Green:Hey. You're right. [He said taking closer look]. Brock:Yeah. Catch it and we'll take it to Pokémon Center for help" Green:Ok I'll catch it. Be nice have a fire type on me go Poke ball! [He throws a poke ball].
[Charmander sees it coming and deflects the Poké Ball back with it's tail. Green catches it]
Green:It looks pretty healthy to me.You think I should have Fern battle it first to weaken it and make it easier to catch?"
Lexus:I would hold off on that if I were you. Look at Charmander's tail [she points at Charmander's tail]
[Everyone turn to see that the flame on Charmander's tail is small]
Brock:Lexus is right. There's no way it could still have the strength to battle. Green, try your Poké Ball one more time.
Green:Alright, I will. Poké Ball go! [ he threw a Poké Ball at Charmander again. This time, the Poké Ball was able to capture Charmander]Alright!"
[But Charmander broke out of the Poké Ball and it flew back which hits Green in the head].
AshAre you okay, buddy?
Green:Yeah I think so [he rubs his head].
[Charmander was looking at them with an annoyed look].
Brock:It sure has a lot of spunk.
AshA little too much if you ask me.
Lexus:I think we only seem to be annoying it
[Ash Charmander and Fern decides to step in. They both climbed on the rock and begins to have a talk with Charmander. After finishing their conversation, the two Pokémon went back to their trainers].
Ash:So what's the story, Charmander?
[Charmander then begins to make some movement].
Lexus:A necktie?
Green:Hmm. A man maybe?
[Both Charmander and Bulbasaur cried out in affirmation. Charmander then began to make another gesture].
Lexus:I don't know what that means.
Brock:Hey Ash, Jake. Why don't you two try to figure our what your Pokémon are saying.
Green:Okay
[The group kneels down to the Pokémon's level. Charmander and Bulbasaur both told them. They listened and nod to what they are saying].
Ash:Okay I think I got it.
Green:Me too.
Green:Charmander and Bulbasaur are saying that Charmander is waiting on that rock for somebody to come and get it.
Ash:Not only that, but Charmander already belongs to a trainer.
Lexus:Are you two sure Charmander belongs to somebody?
Green:We don't know for sure. But it could be a possibility.
Brock:Well if Charmander's waiting for someone, I think we better leave it. It's probably best if it's own trainer takes care of it.
Green:I hope it's trainer comes back soon.
[The friends then walks off leaving Charmander alone. Green takes one last look at Charmander with a sad glance. He then runs to catch up with his friends].
[The four trainers then walks down to where Route 24 might be. Lexus then spots something ahead].
Lexus:Hey you guys! Look over there! It's the Pokémon Center!
Ash:The one on the map.
Green:Looks like we're close to Route 24.
[Suddenly it started to rain].
Ash:Hurry! [Ash yelled as he and his friends rushed inside the Pokémon Center]. [Meanwhile, Charmander is still on the rock with nothing but a leaf to cover himself unaware of the fact that the fire on it's tail is starting to dwindle. Back in the Pokémon Center, the four trainers have gotten themselves safe and warm. Lexus was giving them soup].
Lexus:Here's some nice hot soup.
Ash:Thanks, Lexus.
Lexus:Have some soup, Brock, Green. Huh? What's wrong?" [Lexus asked as she notices Brock and Green thinking about something].
Brock:I wonder. Did anybody picked up that Charmander yet? What if it's trainer left it there?
Green:Like someone had abandoned Charmander? That's awful! If someone did that, then they would have to be very cruel and heartless monster! [He said slamming his fist against his leg ash holds his fist for once he calming Green down he slowly does].
Ash:I have to agree with Green. I don't think that Charmander would wait around this long. Do you?
Brock:I don't either, Ash. It's trainer must've gotten it by now.
[Green then begins to look out the window. Bulbasaur and Lexus notices him doing that].
Lexus: still Worried about Charmander?
Fern:Saur?" [Fern asked].
Green:You can say that. There's no way Charmander would last that long out there with the weather like this. I sure would like to know who told it to wait on that rock it brings back horrible memories. [Green said as he clenched his other fist].
[Just then, laughter caught the group's attention. They group sees a bunch of trainers with a bunch of Poké Balls on the table].
Blue hair:Just look at 'em. You have pretty strong Pokémon.
Trainer:Way cool [chuckled one of the trainers]
Other trainerYou're the man, cross.
Third trainer:Yo! I thought you had a Charmander too?!
Cross:Yeah, I had one. But that puny thing is so weak, it couldn't even beat the weakest opponents [Said the guy known as Cross how has wolf like Pokémon by his side ].
[Their conversation was overheard by the four friends who were glaring at them].
Brock:Charmander may be weak against Water Pokémon, but if their trainer's work hard, they can be strong.
Lexus:I don't think he sees it that way. [she glares at cross].
[Even Fern was glaring at them].
Fourth trainer:So what did you do with the Charmander?
Cross:Eh, I Told the weakling go wait on rock kept coming back over and over again so I told it that so it finally buzz off.
[The four friends widen their eyes in shock at what he said]
Cross:That thing is so stupid. No matter what I do to it, it keeps on following me. I finally got rid of it by promising I'd come back for it. It fell for it. It's probably still there waiting for me. [Cross said with a laugh which makes all is other friends join in].
[Hearing this made Ash and Green very furious. They couldn't believe how selfish and uncaring that Damian sounded after he admitted that he abandoned his Charmander. Even Lexus , and Brock were angry at this. Fern growled at Cross].
Green:He's the one that abandoned that Charmander.
Lexus:Yeah and it's still waiting for him on that rock.
[Just as Brock was about to get up, Green immediately got up and storms over to cross and his friends. His friends were surprised at this]
Ash:Green,What are you doing?
Third trainer:I bet it's still up there wagging it's tail.
Fourth:It'll probably wag it so long, it'll put the flame out.
[Suddenly, Green grabbed him by the vest and pulls him up growling like wild animal].
CrossHey!"
Green:You horrid excuse for a trainer! Get out there and bring Charmander back! Now! [Cross orders wolf like Pokémon get him off as he Graps green pushed him away from his trainer ].
Ash:Green [Ash said in concern. He had never seen his best friend this angry...not sense she left]
Fern:Bulbasaur [said Bulbasaur in worry]
Cross:Why should I?
Green:Because your Charmander's trainer! You lied to that Pokémon and said that you'll come back for it. And now it's waiting out in the rain for you! If the flame on it's tail goes out, then Charmander will die! And you think this is funny!? Do you have any shame at all?! Green:He trusted you he loved you he was loyal to you, You just lied to him Left him behind using his emotions HOW CAN YOU DO THAT!
Cross:what I do is none of your business judging by your outbursts your just as weak if you care about such a wimp.
[All of Greens friends then walks up to confront Cross].
Ash:Do what he said!
Cross:What did you say?
Ash:You heard what I said. And you want to be a Pokémon trainer!
Lexus:You're disgusting!
[Charmander and fern stand by their trainers they growled]
Cross:You want to fight with me?" [he said as his wolf growls getting ready for a brawl]
One:You better not mess with Cross [said one of his friends]
Green:Too late.
Ash:Let's go.
[As the two groups were staring down each other, Nurse Joy comes in and claps her hands.]
Nurse joy:Let's break it up! You know the rules!" [Nurse Joy scolded. Everyone turns to look at her.]Pokémon are never to be used in personal fights! It's disrespectful to the Pokémon and their trainers" Cross:Yeah? Well tell them! They were the ones who had started it! [scoffed Cross as he and his friends walk off. One of the friends gathered up all the Poké Balls and follows after him. Green:What a bunch of jerks! [he watches them leave]
[Ash walks over and places a hand on his shoulder to comfort him].
Fern:Bulbasaur [said Fern as he rubbed against his leg].
[Their gesture cause Green to smile].
Nurse joy:I think you'd be better off not to get mixed up with them. They have a very bad reputation.
Brock:Uh. Thanks for the advice [Brock said with a blush. Nurse Joy giggles and walks off]
Brock:She sure is pretty. I'd never seen anyone as pretty as her [Brock said as he was still blushing]
Lexus:What are you talking about? She looks just like all the other Joys.
Ash:Alright, snap out of it [Ash said as he shook Brock on the shoulder. This snapped him back to reality].
Green:Guys! What about Charmander?!
Brock:Ah! That's right! We have to help it!
[The four trainers raced out of the Pokémon Center to find Charmander. This time they were wearing raincoats so they don't get wet]
[Meanwhile, Charmander was still on the rock with the leaf over it's head. A bunch of Spearows were watching it].
[As the four trainers ran through the forest, they suddenly heard the Spearows].
Ash:I hear some Spearows up ahead.
Green:Charmander must be in trouble. We gotta hurry. [he and his friends runs faster]
[As they went up, the friends looked in horror to see some Spearows attacking Charmander. Green took action by throwing a rock at them].
Green:Knock it off!
[One of the Spearows got mad at this. It flew over and begins to attack Green].
Green:Fern, Vine Whip!
[Fern shot out it's vines and whips Spearow away]
Ash:Flamethrower , Charmander!"
[Charmander used Flamethrower on the Spearows which burns them. The Spearow flock then retreated.]
[The four friends went over to Charmander. They see that the condition of it's tail].
LexusOh no! The flame on Charmander's tail is almost out!
[Green took off his jacket and places it over Charmander].
Brock:Let's get it to the Pokémon Center.
Green:I'll make sure it's tail flame stays lit
Ash:Then there's no time to lose! Charmander's life is on the line!
Fern:Bulbasaur!" [Fern yelled].
[The four trainers then racing back to the Pokémon Center while covering the Charmander with their jackets. Green was checking on Charmander's tail].
Brock:Hold on! You can make it, Charmander!
Ash:We're almost to the Pokémon Center. Just hang on a little longer! [they raced through the forest]
[The four trainers finally reached the Pokémon Center. They burst through the door panting]
Green:Nurse Joy. You have to help us.
[Nurse Joy runs over]
Nurse joy:What is it? What's wrong?
Brock:This Charmander is in bad shape.
[This caused Nurse Joy to gasp]
Nurse joy:There's not much time!
[As the storm continued outside, the four friends were in the ER where they were watching Nurse Joy checking on Charmander with a stethoscope. They were all looking very worried].
Nurse joy:Charmander is very weak. How could you let it get into this condition?! [she scolds them]
Green:It's not our fault. That jerk, Cross was the one who abandoned Charmander.
Nurse joy:What?
Ash:My friend is right. Cross promised Charmander he'd come back for it. Charmander's loyal to Cross, so it believed him.
Nurse joy:Poor Charmander. And Cross left already [Nurse Joy said sadly. Brock then runs up to her]
Brock:Joy, I'm begging you. Please, you have to save it! Charmander has to get better.
[Nurse Joy nods her head with a determined look]
Nurse joy:I'll do whatever I can.
[The four friends had to wait outside as Nurse Joy got to work on healing Charmander. It was a few minutes as the friends were waiting for Nurse Joy. Green was sitting on the bench and was looking at the door. Ash was sitting next to him. She notices his worried look].
AshAre you okay, Green?
GreenIf I'm being honest no I just hope Ash. I hope Charmander is doing okay in there.
Ash:Don't worry. I'm sure Nurse Joy is doing the best she can to help it.
Green:You know, you're right, Ash. I just need to have faith that Charmander will pull through.
[Green smiled as ash pats him on the shoulder. Bulbasaur also smiled at Jake's positive attitude].
Brock:Charmander. You've got to hold on. Please, keep your flame burning [thought Brock as he was watching the door]
[Then, the light in the ER room sign goes off which catches the four trainers' attention. Nurse Joy comes out and gives them a peace sign which means that the treatment was a success, much to their relief].
Nurse joy:Charmander recovering. It should be fine by morning.
[The four trainers peek in the ER room to see Charmander resting].
Brock:That's the spirit, Charmander [Brock thought happily].
[The next morning, Ash, Lexus, and Green were sleeping in the lobby of the Pokémon Center. Then footsteps were heard]
Brock:Wake up, everybody!
[Brock's voice startled Ash while Green woke up in alarm. Lexus slowly woke up. They looked to Brock panting].
Ash:What's up Brock?
Green:Yeah, what's with the wake-up call
Brock:It's Charmander! Charmander has disappeared from the ER!
Ash/Green:What!?
Fern:Saur?!" [Fern yelled]
[They rushed into the ER. Nurse Joy was waiting for them with a frown on her face and the window was opened]
Ash:Charmander must've escaped through the window.
Green:I bet it went back to that rock to wait for Damian.
Lexus:After what he's done to it?!
Brock:I'm with Green on this one. We've got to go back!
LexusBut that's no use. We can't force Charmander to come with us if it wants to wait for Cross. Even if he is a lying creep.
Nurse joy:She's right. There's nothing you can do until Charmander realizes the truth.
[Green frowned and look at the window].
[Meanwhile, Charmander was walking back to the rock to wait for Cross. It turns around to look at the Pokémon Center. Charmander couldn't help but think back to when Green, Ash and his friends saved it from death when it was raining. It now felt torn whether to go back and wait for Cross or go with those people that helped it].
[With no other choice, Green, Ash, and their friends left the Pokémon Center and started down the road. Brock was feeling down about Charmander].
Brock:I thought that Charmander understood that we cared about it.
Ash:Brock. Charmander knew that we cared. But don't you see, Charmander couldn't forget about cross.
Green:Ash is right. Charmander's loyalty to Cross is still with it. That's why it went back to that rock despite how awful cross was he can't ever forget him it's not easy human or Pokémon.
Lexus:Yeah. And it's like Nurse Joy said: there's nothing we can do until Charmander realizes the truth.
[As the group was continuing down the road. Charmander and Fern were walking in front of the trainers. Just as the trainers were walking over, they suddenly feel something]
AshHey, you feel something?
Brock:I did
Lexus:Feel what?
[Green looks down on the ground. It opened and the group falls in. Fortunately, Green was able to grab the ledge and pulled himself out. Fern and Charmander races over to the hole. Green looks over to see his friends lying on the ground].
Green:A pitfall trap? Now who could've done this?
[They then notice someone. It was Team Rocket who appears to be wearing some suits{
Meowth:I can't believe they fell for it.
Jessie:Our invention worked. We're geniuses.
Green:Team Rocket!
Jessie:Huh!? How did you get out of the trap!?" [Jessie asked as she notices him].
Meowth:Yeah. You're suppose to be down there with your friends [Meowth added as he points at the pit]
Green:I guess I was smart to know that something was wrong here.
James:Never mind that. Come with us Charmander and Bulbasaur. You two belong to us now
[Green and Fern gritted their teeth at them. Charmander then unleashes an flamethrower attack at them, but it doesn't affect the trio due to them wearing special suits. The Team Rocket trio then begins to laugh]
James:That won't work on us this time!
Jessie:Another example of our incredible genius at work [Jessie added mockingly]
Green:That can't be good.
Meowth:Enough talk! Let's just grab the Charmander and Bulbasaur and get out of here!
Green:If you want Fern, or Charmander you'll have to battle us first
Fern:Saur!" growled his Bulbasaur
Meowth:That's the plan.
[But before they can battle, Cross Charmander came up].
Charmander:Charmander!
Green:Charmander? [He said in surprised]
Fern:Bulbasaur? [Said Fern].
Jessie:What is that thing?
Charmander:Char char mander! [Charmander demanded]
Meowth:It's saying you better leave them alone or else your dealing with me. [He translated].
Green:Yeah. What Charmander said.
Jessie:It's got to be kidding.
James:Now step aside you insolent little fire bug. We haven't gotten the time to play with you.
Meowth:Team Rocket plays rough.
[Charmander then is about to let something out. Seeing this Jake looks at Bulbasaur].
Green:Something tells me. We might want to take some steps back.
[Green and Fern both backed up].
Charmander:CHAR! [Charmander said as it unleashes a massive Flamethrower at the trio].
[Once the attack is done, the Team Rocket trio was burned. As they gaped at how strong Charmander was, the trio screamed and ran off while leaving].
James:You see? Didn't I tell you we needed extra patch for suits! [James yelled]
Jessie:Shut up and keep running!
Meowth:Some geniuses. Meowth.
Team rocket:Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!
GreenHeh. Good work, Charmander. You really burned those guys up real good [Green said as Fern chuckled at it's trainer's joke].
Charmander;Charmander [Charmander said as it was rubbing the back of it's head]
Ash:Charmander!
Lexus:Is everything okay up there, Green?
[Green runs over to the hole].
Green:Everything's fine, you guys. Charmander came back and drove Team Rocket away. Also, your Charmander is safe, Ash.
Charmander:Char Char [Charmander said as he appears at the hole]
Ash:That's great! I sure am glad for that! [Ash said in relief]
Lexus:Now can you get us out of here?
Green:No problem.
[Green had Bulbasaur used it's vines to help it's friends get out of the hole. After getting them out, Jake told the about how Charmander unleashed a massive Flamethrower which scared Team Rocket away. Needless to say, they were surprised]
Brock:Wow. Thanks for the help Charmander [Brock said to it gratefully]
Lexus:You see, Brock? Charmander knew we cared. That's why it's here.
Green nods her head
Green:Charmander. How would you like to join up with us? I'm afraid you 'trainer' isn't going to come back.
Ash:Yeah. Unlike Cross, we all care for our Pokémon and see them as our family.
Fern:Saur [said fern].
[As Charmander begins to think about it. A voice catches their attention]
Cross:Hey are you weaklings really gonna try catch him?
[The friends turn to see Damian].
Ash:Cross. It's you.
Green:What do you want?
Cross:I came check up what all commotion was about I figured strong Pokémon around shocked it was this runt did all that.
[Charmander looks back to the four trainers]
[Charmander still couldn't resist running to cross as he still missed him hugging his leg but sadly cross didn't feel same way kicking him off].
Cross:It must've been a fluke what you did because you still act so weak!
Green:Really?After everything you've put it through it still wanted come back to you Charmander still values you treat him like that especially after you abandoned him.
Cross:Good thing I did. That toughened it up. Besides, what's wrong with dumpin off a weak.
[Charmander was surprised by what Cross said].
Cross:I wasn't going to come back for it,must've been fluke what it did anyway pokemon worth only strength and power.
Lexus:That's terrible!
Green:Raising a Pokémon is the best part of being a trainer! You are no trainer I challenge you to battle right here right if I win you properly apologize to Charmander!
Cross:You wish! But fine let's do it time you know your place! [He chooses Lycanroc as Green takes out his Pokédex scanning the Pokémon ]. Green's Pokédex:Lycanroc,wolf Pokémon, midnight form. It's invigorated by powerful opponents—the stronger the better. A full-force headbutt from one of these Lycanroc can shatter giant boulders, This Lycanroc has an extremely vicious temperament. It will happily sustain injuries for the sake of taking down its opponent.
Green:And you have the nerve to call yourself a trainer after everything you did I'm gonna enjoy tearing wolf apart! Green:Mankey I choose you! [He unleashed his Mankey as let's out calm shriek as it felt off seeing how angry,feral his trainer was right now]. Cross:All that matter is strength and power I'll win show you how insignificant you are Accelerock let's go! [He howls charging at Mankey it gets punched ].
Lexus:You see? He doesn't care about you. He just wants to use you to win matches.
Ash:Yeah. He doesn't deserve a Pokémon like you.
[Charmander frowned as it finally sees Cross for who he really is: an arrogant trainer who only cares about power and strength]
Green:Mankey crush him now use Low kick repeatedly! [He said as Mankey charges in kicking Lycanroc repeatedly as cross just lets him ].
Brock:What is he doing why is he willingly allowing his Pokémon to get hurt it makes no sense?
Lexus:Wait,Green get Mankey away right now hurry up! [But Green looks in confusion not sure why she telling him this as it hits him he was so blinded by anger wasn't thinking straight cross smirks ].
Cross:That's it I was honestly hoping for more but what do you expect from weak trainer and his weak Pokémon Lycanroc finish it with counter!
[He hits Mankey hard as he ends up flying into a tree fainting he was knocked out cold]. Cross:I win honestly i expected more especially all that trash talk about not being a real trainer next time provide me more entertainment ok.
[Cross recalls his Pokémon as he left walking away as Green checks on his hurt Pokémon recalling it as he on his knees from that bad beat down ].
[Later the gang and the wild Charmander at Pokémon center as Mankey was getting checked up by Nurse Joy ].
Charmander:Char. [He said hugging Green leg he appreciated it petting his head ].
Ash:Hey at least you tried.
Lexus:You might've lost this time to cross but theirs always next time,Just have learn control your anger not let it control you ok. Green:Yeah.I will thanks guys I really appreciate all of this support I'll do better.
[Charmander then looks at them].
Lexus:You know, Green. I think you should catch Charmander. It would be a good addition to your team.
Green:Me? But Brock was the one who saved it. Shouldn't he catch it.
Brock:That's true. But don't forget, you were the one who kept it's tail lit. I'm sure you'll raise Charmander to be a great Pokémon.
Ash:Yeah. You'll be a better trainer to Charmander than cross ever was I know it buddy.
Green:Thanks guys [Green said with a nod as he takes out a Poké Ball. ]Come on, Charmander. Welcome to the group!"
Charmander:Char char! [Charmander said in joy]
[It leaps up as Green threw the Poké Ball. The Poké Ball sucks Charmander in. It then goes back and Green catches it].
Lexus:You've got a new Pokémon and a friend.
Green:Yeah I already got perfect name for him welcome to the team Helios.
[Lexus, Ash, and Bulbasaur smiled at their friend's success on capturing another Pokémon. And after healing switching up team with that, the four trainers continue on their way to Vermillion city]. ((And with that the chapter finally over I decided to add cross in if it wasn't obvious already he is officially Green rival in this story.
