After obtaning the soul Badge at Koga's gym, the gang arrived at a lot of fields that had fences built and pokemon gazing around in the fileds.
"Do you think we are in the country side?" Yellow asked
"We maybe in the countryy side or near a farm or ranch." Ash answerd
Just then they field the ground is shaking.
"Is this a earthquake?" Yellow asked
"No. It is those pokemon over there." Brock said
A heard of Taurous were stampeding around the field.
Ash scanned the Tauros through his pokedesk:
[Tauros, the wild bull pokemon. It is famous for its violent nature. Once it aims at any thing, it makes a headlong charge.]

"I would like to have a Taurous, I wonder where the owner is." Ash said
Just then suddenly a Growlithe came up from behind them.
"Hey look a Growlithe. " Brock said
Ash
"Hey Growlithe, Where is your master?" Ash asked the puppy pokemon.
"I am right here." A female voice replied
The voice belonged to a girl . Ash rememberd the girl as Lara Laramie. Ash also spotted a ponyta which she was ridding.
"A ponyta." Ash said and scanned the ponyta through his pokedesk.
[Ponyta, the fire horse pokemon. As a newborn it can barely stand. However through galloping its legs are made thougher and faster.]

"Excuse me but can you tell us where are we?" Ash asked
"You are at the pokemon ranch. We preserve and raise variety of wild pokemon here." Lara said
"So those Tauros are yours then?" Ash asked pointing at the Taurous.
"That is correct. I am Lara Laramie and my family runs this ranch." Lara answerd
"My name is Ash ketchum." Ash introduced himshelf. Ash said pointing at pikachu, "And this is my patner pikachu."
"My name is Misty." Misty introduced hershelf.
"My name is Yellow." Yellow introduced hershelf.
"My name is Brock." Brock introduced himshelf.
"Nice to meet you all." Lara said while smiling.

Lara showed the group the fields of the ranch, which held different pokemon. One field had sandslash, Nidoran, Tauros and other fields held different pokemon.
"Breeders from the Laramie Rancb are superior to others. They raise the pokemon in the wild and they are little stronger than most of them." Brock said
Lara smiled and got down of ponyta and said,"I am glad that there are some floks who knows about all our hard work that we do. We are very proud of how we raised our pokemon."Lara said
Then she got an idea and said," Hey, we are having a big party here tonight. Why do not you all come as my guest?"
"A party." Yellow said with little enthusiasm
"Sounds like a great idea." Brock said
"You can stay here tonight that way you will able to see the big pokemon race tomorow." Lara said
"Pokemon race?" Ash asked
"It is a race where people, riding on their pokemon, compete against each other. And the winner becomes a member of the Laramie clan." Lara said
"That sound amazing." Ash said
"Defenitely." Glissle said
Just then they felt the ground shake once more.
"The Tauros again?" Yellow asked
"No, it is not the Taurous." Lara said
A flock of Dodrio ran past them with great speed.
"Wow those are fast pokemon." Yellow said
"Those are Dodrio." Ash said
Then they saw one of them r an up beside them, with a boy, riding on its back.
"Hello, Lara." The boy said
"Dario." Lara said
Ash scanned the pokemon through his pokedesk:
[Dodrio, the triple bird pokemon. It can run faster than it can fly.]

Dorio smirked at Lara and said,"I thought I do let you know that Dodrio and I are going to race tomorow and I hope you are ready to lose."
After that he left with Dodrio.
"Who was that guy?" Yellow asked
"That is Dario, a Dodrio trainer. He lover to show off his pokemon's speed." Lara replied
"Somehow he reminds me of Gary." Glissle said
"Yes. " Misty said

That evening Lara brought the gang to the festival. Lara got a lot of good luck from many people for the pokemon race.
"Lara sure is popular." Yellow said
"Yeah, both her and ponyta have a lot of fans." Brock said
"I have a feeling that tomorow's race will be great." Glissle said
"Hey Lara, Your Tauros are goung crazy at the ranch." A male voice said to Lara.
Lara and the gang gets shocked.
Lara whistled for her ponyta over and jumped one and rode off to the ranch. She nad the gang went to the ranch at a high speed.
Ash and Glissle glanced over their shoulder and saw Dario smirking. They narrowed their eyes at it but ignored it.

When they got to the ranch, Lara's Tauros were tackling each other like mad. It was like they were having a fight with each other.
"What?, Quick Growlithe get in there and settle them down." Lara said
Growlte ran around the Tauros, barking, to gain their attention within a few seconds, the Tauros had clamed down.
"What the actual heck was that?" Brock asked
"I do not know. " Ash said
Lara was just about to inspect them when suddenly something flew past ponyta, frightening it. Ponyta was so frightend that Lara fell off ponyta.
"Arg." Lara gasped in pain as she landed on her left arm. She tried to move her pain but again gasped in pain.
"Lara." Yellow said
"Do not that arm." Brock said
Ash immediately ran over to ponyta and grabbed its reins, trying to claim it down. Then soon he was succesful.
"What was that all about?" Glissle asked
Ash knew Team Rocket was behind all of it beacuse of Dario as he wanted to win the race by cheating also.

At Lara's house, Lara was resting arm in a sling. She was looking outside the window with a sad expression.
Lara sighed and said,"With my arm like that I cannot ride ponyta na dwon't be able to race tomorow."
"Hold on. Ash you could ride ponyta for me." Lara said while smiling when she got the idea.
"Me? But I cannot do that, I mean ponyta will only listen to you." Ash said
"You can do it Ash, After seeing you clam down ponyta, I knew you are perfect for this. Everything will be okay." Lara said
"Give it a try." Yellow said to her boyfriend
"You can do it." Glissle said to her boyfriend
"We belive in you." Misty said to her boyfriend
Ash looked at lara and ponyta and said, "Okay I will give it a try. "
Slowly walked towards the fire horse pokemon but saw a look of worrines in its eyes.
"Ponyta, I know but Ash is turstworthy person." Lara said
Ponyta turned to Ash and nodded.
"Go on." Glissle said
Ash nodded and walked up to ponyta and gently placed his hands on his back. He blinked and smiled, his hands did not burned at all.
"Try and ride him, Ash." Glissle said
Ash carefully climbed on ponyta's back and grabbed its reins.
"Reay to win the race tomorow?"He asked
Ponyta nodded, meaning it was ready.

The next day it was time for the race to begin. Fireworks and lud cheers can be heard in the stadium. All those competing at the race were getting ready at the starting point.
" welcome ladies and gentelman to this Year's pokemon challange. Our course takes our challange through hard rocks and water test their speed and ability, whoever clears all the obstacles and crosses the finish linr is our winner."The anouncer anounced
"Will all the pokemon and trainers come to the starting line." Announcer said
All those who were cometing were getting ready at the starting line. Brock and Glissle decided to enter too. Ash with ponyta, Glissle with Arcanine, Brock with onix and Pikachu was riding on squirtle who wanted to try.
Lara and Growlithr along with Misty and yellow were sitting in the stands.
"Good luck guys." Lara cheered
"Do your great." Yellow said
"You all can do it." Misty said
Ash and his friends smiled at the encouragement.
"Ready ponyta?" Ash asked
Both he and ponyta were excited. So excited in fact, ponyta set his fire mane blazing making Brock and Glissle back away.
The countdown started.
"Ready?" The Announcer asked
All the competitors got ready..
"Go." Announcer said
The racers took off immediately.
"And they are off on this exciting pokemon challenge Rance, when the dust settles, we will be able to see who is in the lead." The Announcer said

"Now the constestans left the stadium, they are now on the first part of the obstacles course." Announcer said
"Hiyeaa." Dario said while smiling as he sped past the racers in first place on his Dodrio.
"And Dario riding Dodrio pulls away from the pack, if he keeps this incredible pace, he will be unstoppable. " The Announcer said
Everything began running smoothly, but Team Rocket started doing their dirty tricks. They shot two sling shots which hit a Tauros and its trainer. It spooked Taurs so much that it endes up tackling Nidron and its trainer.
Nidron soon started to fight out out off anger, ignoring their trainers.
"Look like they are out of this race." The Announcer said
Ash knows it was done by, 'Team Rocket.' But focoused back onto the race.

"Next obstacle is forty-five degree off hill climb, it is for the pokemon and their trainer, Dario still holds the lead." The Announcer said
"This may be tricky, But I know you can do it." Ash said to ponyta
The racers mangaed to get over the hill going downhill was easier. There was one pokemon that made it super easy for them, An Electrode and its trainer rolled past the racers at great speed, taking the lead.
Ash was little surprised by the elctrode speed.
"He is fast." Dario said with anger.
The bad news for all of them was Team Rocket had a dug a hole, and Electrode and his trainer fell into it.
Dario ran past them, taking the lead once more.
"And another accident, Electrode has fallen into a hole and Dario once again takes the lead." The Announcer said
Ash's eyes widend when he saw the glow and said,"Quick ponyta move to the side, Electrode is about to explode."
Ponyta immediately ran to the side, avoiding the explosion.
The fall did cause Electrode to explode. Bad news is that it hit two pokemon and their trainers in the process.
Ash and Ash's friend and their pokemon avoided the blast.
"Seems like ponyta and Arcanine were able to avoid the blast." The Announcer said
"This was definitely no accident." Glissle said
"Yeah. Someone is trying to get rid of all the trainers, Let's go." Ash said
Ponyta nodded.

"Now for the difficulg part of the course, the pokemon has to jump from stone to stone to cross the river." The Announcer said
"Go Dodrio go." Dario said while smiling.
Dodrio easily crossed the steppingstones with ease. But it was not good for Onix and Rhyhorn. The Rhyhorn stepped on a steppingstone to see if it was all right. But the steppingstone sank, with Rhyhorn still on it.
Onix watched in horror and goraned. Brock petted Onix's head to reassure him,"That is okay. We tried."He said
"Ahh too bad floks, Rock pokemon cannot deal with water so onix is out of here." The Announcer said
Ponyta and Arcanine jumped from stone to stone, extremly fast as pikachu and squirtle swam fast across the river.
"Ponyta and Arcanine are great jumpers. Being fire type, ponyta and Arcanine shows no fear of the water, they could make a comeback. Squirtle is crossing the water with no problem as it is a water type." The Announcer said

"To Boost their energy each pokemon can resume the race only after eating the entire bowl of food. The pokemon decides which food to eat." The announcer said
Of course, Dario and Dodrio got to thr tray of food first. But as Dodrio had three heads, they were fighting about who should eat first.
This give a chance to squirtle, ponyta and Arcanine to catch up started to eat their portion of food.
Dario was getting furstrated and said,"Alright Team Rocket to get to work."
Ash and Glissle narrowed their eyes in anger when they heard what Dario yelled out.
Out of nowhere a thick cloud of black smoke appeared, covering their cameras that were set up.
Ash and Glissle hearx an familiar motto coming from the smoke.
"Team Rocket, what do you three want?" Ash said
"Let's just say that we want to mess up again." Meowth said
"So it was you three who broke Lara's arm." Glissle said
"And it was also who caused the accident in the race." Ash said
Arbok appeared and spooked ponyta, Ash immediately tried to clam it down.
"Go Dario now is your chance." Jessie said to Dario
"Thanks Jessie. Go Dodrio. " Dario said
"Team Rocket is working for Dario." Ash said
Ponyta nodded. Arcanine jumped up and takled Arbok away from ponyta.
"Ash catch up with Dario. Pikachu, squirtle, Arcanine and I will take care of Team Rocket." Glissle said
"And Don't worry about us." Glissle said
"Okay. " Ash said
Ash set of with ponyta.

The camara was fixed and everyone was able to see what was on the screen.
"Yes we have our picture back and Dodrio is still back in the leaf. Now let's take a look at the other pokemon and I cannot see anything wait who is that?"The Announcer said
They saw a red flaming aura appearing from the distance. The camera zoomed in.
" it is a giant Burning flame."The Announcer said
"Faster ponyta, we are way behind." Ash said
"It is ponyta, I do not know how it happend but it seems it has become a two race between Dodrio and ponyta, with nothing left but a flat out run to the finish line and Dodrio has eneterd thes tadium in the lead." The Announcer said
"I amgonna win this one." Dario said
Then th ecamera changed to Ash and ponyta who enterd the stadium and the crowd cheered.
"No way." Dario said in shock
"Now ponyta is closing on Dodrio." The Announcer said
"Okay ponyta, let's beat him." Ash said
"Now these two powerful pokemon are fighting for the lead." The Announcer said
"Do it Dodrio. " Dario said
As oderd one of his Dodrio heads pecked ponyta. The fire horse pokemon shook its head from the attack and started to slow down a bit.
"Something has happend, ponyta is falling behind." The Announcer said
Ash shouted at Dario, "Taht was cheap shot, Dario."
Dario smirked and said,"I do what I can do to win."
"Dodio is closing on the finish line." The Announcer said
Now ponyta really got angry as Dario and started to glow.
"Ponyta is evolving."Ash said
Ash and the others gasped and the audince watched as ponyta evolved into Rapidash.
"This is incredible, ponyta has evolved into Rapidash, the fastest pokemon of the world." The Announcer said
"I cannot belive it." Dario aaid
"Here comes Rapidash." The Announcer said
Rapidash jumped even faster and caught up with Dodrio.
"And Rapidash has caught up, they are neck to neck for the finishing line." The Announcer said
"You can do it Rapidash. I belive in you." Ash said
Dodrio was close but Rapidash put more effort and manage to cross the finish line first.
The crowd in the stadium cheered.
"An incredible offence, Rapidash makes an amazing comeback to win this pokemon challanage." Announcer said
"Cheater you interferd with me." Dario said
"You are the one who attacked me. " Ash said
"I will show you." Dario said,"Go get them."
Rapidash first and use its attack that sent Dario and Dodrio flying into the sky.

"Congratulation ponyta, I mean Rapidash, you are this year's pokemon challange champion. Let's give a big hand for its trainer Lara Laramie an dfor the winig rider Ash ketchum. " The Announcer said
Everyone cheered and clapped for them.
"Congratulation Lara." Ash said
"No Congratulation to you, Asj and thanks for your help. Not only did you win for me, Now I and Rapidash are member of the Laramie Clan." Lara said
"No worries. I was glad to help." Ash said
The gang and Lara laughed thinking of Dario.

As the sun set, Lara, Rapidash, Growlithe and the Tauros was bidding the gang farewell.
"If you are looking to catch some pokemon, there is a safari Zone just ahead. It is perfect for catching pokemon." Lara said
"Really? Thanks." Brock said
"Good luck Ash. I know you will become a pokemon master." Lara said as tehy shaked their hands.
"Thanks you Lara." Ash said

The gang waved goodbye to Lara as he and his pokemon watch them leave.
As our heors say goodybye to their new friend of the Lara pokemon Ranch, they are now headed towards the Safari Zone.
