(Y/N) pov

At the sight of your tears, Dazai's expression shifted from concern to a gentle understanding. He reached out and lightly brushed his fingers against your cheek, wiping away the tears with a tenderness that surprised you.

"It's okay, (Y/N)," he murmured softly. "I don't know what you've been through, but you're safe now."

You let out a shaky sigh, grateful for his comforting presence. The memory of that nightmarish experiment still haunted you, but being in this moment with Dazai brought a sense of solace.

"I... I had a terrible dream," you whispered, your voice trembling. "I was in a dark room, and there was this man, Dr. Ashcroft. He... he was conducting experiments on me."

Dazai's eyes narrowed at the mention of the name. "Ashcroft? That name sounds familiar."

You nodded weakly, trying to gather your thoughts. "He injected something into me, and I felt pain like I've never experienced before. But then, I... I summoned a creature. It was beautiful and radiant, but I couldn't control it. And the pain... it was unbearable."

Dazai's expression darkened, and you could see the gears turning in his mind. "Summoning a creature and feeling unbearable pain... That sounds like an ability experiment."

You nodded again, the memories still fresh in your mind. "Dr. Ashcroft mentioned a prophecy... about a chosen one who could summon a powerful being and make a wish. He believed I was that chosen one."

Dazai's gaze remained fixed on you, his concern deepening. "This is more than just a typical ability. It sounds like you're connected to something far greater and more dangerous than we imagined."

You swallowed hard, the weight of the revelation settling upon you. "Dazai, what do you think Dr. Ashcroft wanted with me? And what creature did he want me to summon?"

Dazai's eyes bore into yours with a solemn intensity. "I don't have all the answers, (Y/N), but one thing is clear: we need to find out more about Dr. Ashcroft, his organization, and the true nature of your abilities. And I promise you, I'll do everything in my power to protect you from whatever threat lies ahead."

You managed a small, appreciative smile through your lingering unease. "Thank you, Dazai. I don't know what I would do without you and the others from the Armed Detective Agency."

Dazai's lips curled into a playful grin as he leaned closer. "Well, you see, I am quite extraordinary, so it's only natural for you to feel that way."

You couldn't help but chuckle at his cheeky remark, appreciating the way he could always find humor even in the darkest of moments. Dazai had a unique ability to bring a smile to your face, no matter the circumstances.

Before you could continue your conversation, the door to the room swung open, and a no-nonsense voice filled the air. "What's all this chit-chat about, you two?"

Yosano stood in the doorway, her medical coat and sharp expression leaving no doubt about her profession and personality. She was known for her medical expertise and her straightforward, often gruff demeanor.

Dazai couldn't resist a playful grin. "Ah, Yosano, we were just discussing our plans to conquer the world. Care to join us?"

Yosano rolled her eyes, unimpressed by Dazai's antics. "I'm sure you'd find a way to get yourself killed within seconds before you tried that. Now, (Y/N), how are you feeling?"

You nodded, still somewhat shaken by the memories you'd uncovered but determined to move forward. "I'm okay, Yosano. Just a bit overwhelmed."

Yosano walked over and examined you with a critical eye. "Well, you look alive, at least. Too bad you weren't at death's door; I wanted to try on you my new instrument."

You laughed awkwardly at her words, grateful that you didn't have to go through what other members of the agency experienced.

"We'll need to keep an eye on you for any adverse effects from that locket, but I'm sure you'll be back on your feet in no time."

Dazai piped up, his tone mockingly exaggerated. "Oh, I'm sure (Y/N) will be up and running, summoning creatures and saving the day in no time."

Yosano raised an eyebrow. "Is that so? Well, I'll be sure to prepare for some unusual cases then."

You swallowed hard, your unease growing. Deep down, you prayed hard that you wouldn't have to experience her ability on you one day.

Dazai, always the one to diffuse tension with humor, waved a hand dismissively. "Come now, Yosano, there's no need to scare our dear (Y/N) away. They're already dealing with enough, don't you think?"

Yosano let out an exasperated sigh, but her features softened ever so slightly. "Fine, fine. Just remember, (Y/N), if you ever need patching up, I'm the best there is. Just don't make a habit out of it."

You offered her a grateful smile, appreciating the reassurance despite her gruff demeanor. "I'll keep that in mind, Yosano. Thanks."

"Don't worry about it; it's my job," she replied with a reassuring nod, her stern expression softening slightly. Yosano was known for her unwavering dedication to her work, and you had no doubt that she would ensure your recovery went smoothly.

She then turned her gaze toward Dazai, her tone more commanding. "As for you, Dazai, make sure our dear (Y/N) gets the rest she needs. No more running around Yokohama or getting into trouble for a while."

Dazai raised his hands in mock surrender. "Of course, Yosano-san. I'll make sure our charming little squirrel gets all the rest she needs, even if it means tying her to the bed."

Your cheeks flushed at his playful remark, and you couldn't help but protest, "Dazai, you really don't have to go to such extremes."

Yosano's lips twitched with amusement as she turned to leave the room. "I'll be checking on you later. Behave yourself, both of you."

Once she was gone, you felt that you had your energy back, making you feel the need to get up. You then sat up on your bed. "Now that she's gone, I can finally-"

"Oh no you don't." Dazai's hand then stopped you. "You need to rest, and you know that."

"Come on, Dazai-san, I want to walk so bad."

Dazai raised an eyebrow, his grin growing mischievous. "You know, I was only joking about tying you to the bed, but if you're that eager to escape, maybe I should reconsider."

Your eyes widened at the threat, and without a second thought, you swung your legs over the edge of the bed and attempted to make a dash for the door. Your determination was short-lived, as Dazai's swift reflexes kicked in. In a blur of motion, he intercepted you just before you could reach the door.

He effortlessly lifted you off the ground and carried you back to the bed, his strength surprising for someone who often appeared so nonchalant.

"Dazai, put me down!" you protested, half-heartedly attempting to free yourself from his grip.

He chuckled softly, his grip remaining firm yet gentle. "Sorry, (Y/N), but you're not going anywhere."

Before you could react, Dazai skillfully used some spare sheets to tie you securely to the bed, ensuring that you couldn't make another escape attempt. You let out an exasperated sigh, realizing that arguing with Dazai was a futile endeavor.

"There, now you can rest properly," he said with a satisfied smile as he took a seat beside your bed.

You couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation. "You really are overprotective, Dazai-san."

His grin softened, and he leaned in closer, his voice low and filled with sincerity. "You are part of us now, so you mean a lot to all of us, and we'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe."

As you pout leaning back onto the bed, Dazai's mischievous side resurfaced. "I have an idea," he said. "How about a little game to pass the time? If I can make you laugh, you have to stay put on the bed."

You raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the proposal. "You think you can make me laugh? I'm the master of not laughing at jokes, Dazai-san."

Dazai's grin widened as he accepted the challenge. "We'll see about that."

Before you could react, he launched into a series of absurd and humorous anecdotes, each one more outlandish than the last. Despite your best efforts to maintain your composure, you could feel the corners of your mouth twitching. Dazai's wit and comedic timing were formidable, he knew exactly what would make you laugh, and he was determined to win this little game.

Then, he did something unexpected. With lightning speed, he began to tickle you mercilessly, targeting your most ticklish spots. Your laughter erupted uncontrollably, and you pleaded with him to stop between fits of giggles.

It was a battle of wills, but ultimately, Dazai's tickling tactics proved to be your undoing. Tears streamed down your cheeks as you laughed harder than you had in a long time.

Just as you thought you couldn't take any more, the door to the room burst open, and Atsushi and Kunikida stood in the doorway, their expressions a mix of concern and confusion. They had come to check on you when they heard about your condition, but they didn't expect this at all.

You and Dazai froze, caught in an awkward position. Dazai was perched on the edge of your bed, and you were still restrained by the makeshift ties he had used to keep you in place.

Atsushi blinked, taking in the scene before him, while Kunikida's face turned a deep shade of red as he averted his gaze.

"Um, we can explain," you began, but the uncontrollable laughter bubbling up inside you made it difficult to get the words out.

"(Y/N), are you okay?" Atsushi blurted out, his eyes wide as he took in the scene of you tied to the bed with Dazai sitting beside you.

Kunikida's face turned a shade of red as he stammered, "What is going on here? Explain yourselves!"

Dazai, ever unflappable, smirked up at Atsushi and Kunikida. "Oh, it's not what it looks like, I promise."

Atsushi blinked in confusion, while Kunikida looked far from convinced. "Then, what is it?"

Dazai turned to you with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Well, (Y/N) and I made a little bet. If I can make her laugh, she has to stay put on the bed."

Atsushi's eyes widened in understanding, "Dazai-san did?"

While Kunikida's expression shifted from anger to disbelief. "You tied her to the bed for a bet?"

You nodded, trying not to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. "It seemed like a good idea at the time."

Dazai, never one to back down from a challenge, began tickling you again mercilessly. Your laughter echoed through the room, and you squirmed in a futile attempt to escape his grasp.

"Okay, okay, I give up! I give up!" you pleaded, tears of laughter in your eyes. "You win, Dazai!"

Dazai finally relented, a triumphant grin on his face. He leaned back, satisfied with his victory.

Atsushi and Kunikida exchanged bemused glances, still trying to process the unusual sight before them. Atsushi finally spoke up, "Well, as long as (Y/N) is okay, I guess it's fine."

Kunikida sighed and rubbed his temples. "Just... no more tying people to beds, Dazai."

Dazai's grin remained undiminished. "Of course, Kunikida-san. I'll save that for a special occasion."

With a mixture of relief and amusement, you watched as Atsushi and Kunikida left the room, shaking their heads in disbelief. Once they were gone, you turned to Dazai, who was still wearing that triumphant grin.

"Hold on, what did you mean by that just now?"

"Mmm? What did I say?"

"..." you let out a sigh, "Forget it, maybe it was just my imagination."

Then, a thought came to you "Wait, now that I think about it, what time is it?" you asked, curiosity creeping into your voice.

Dazai glanced at his phone and casually replied, "Oh? It's 2 pm, why do you ask?"

Your eyes widened in surprise. "I slept so long?"

Dazai chuckled softly. "Of course, after all, you went through a lot yesterday."

You felt a warm sensation spread through you as you realized that Dazai had stayed with you all this time. "And you stayed by my side all this time?"

Dazai's expression softened, and he gently brushed a strand of hair away from your face. "I did. I'm your mentor, after all. I have to take care of my junior."

You couldn't help but smile at his words. "If you say so."

"Now, (Y/N)," Dazai continued, "you've had a good rest, but you need more. I can see it in your eyes."

You furrowed your brows, feeling strangely resistant to the idea of going back to sleep. "I don't want to sleep anymore, Dazai. I'm wide awake now."

Dazai's lips curled into a knowing grin. "Ah, but you see, it's not about what you want, my dear (Y/N). It's about what you need."

With that mischievous glint in his eye, Dazai reached for a cup on the bedside table, which you hadn't noticed before. He offered it to you with a charming smile. "Here, have some warm milk. It'll help you relax and get the rest you truly need."

You hesitated for a moment, suspicion flickering in your eyes, but ultimately, you took the cup. As you sipped the warm milk, you couldn't help but feel your resistance wane. It was as if Dazai's presence alone had a calming effect on you.

Dazai watched you closely as you finished the drink, and soon, your eyelids began to droop. You fought to keep them open, but the drowsiness overcame you once again.

You mumbled, "Dazai, what did you..." But your voice trailed off, and you drifted into a peaceful slumber. Dazai remained by your side, a soft smile on his face, content in the knowledge that you would finally get the rest you needed.

As (Y/N) went to sleep, Dazai gently settled her better on the covers, ensuring she was comfortable. With a final reassuring glance, he got up from his chair and headed quietly to the door.

As he closed the door behind him, Atsushi looked up from his desk, concern still etched on his face. "How is she, Dazai-san?"

Dazai offered a small smile. "She's resting peacefully now."

Kunikida stopped tapping on his computer and turned his chair to face Dazai. "So, Dazai, I think you have some things to tell us, don't you?"

Dazai nodded, his expression growing serious. "Yes, that's why I want to call a meeting. This concerns a rather serious situation, and I'll need all the members to attend."

Kunikida nodded in agreement. "Very well, if you say it like that, then I'll organize it. Let's gather everyone as soon as possible."

Dazai gave a curt nod of approval and headed toward the meeting room to prepare for the upcoming meeting. The events of the precedent night had taken an unexpected turn, and the Armed Detective Agency needed to be ready for what lay ahead.
