Hailey called Jeremy immediately she arrived her father's large cabin. Cell service was better on this part of the mountain and she was grateful for that. The pilot arrived not long after to take her back home. He was a bit worried because she wasn't supposed to call him to take her home until the new year. He had tried asking her if she was okay but she only smiled brightly at him with closed eyes and brushed it off. She kept saying she was fine.
But she knew all too well that she was far from it...
It didn't take long before the helicopter landed on the helipad of one of her father's many companies. From there she found herself in a car, taking her back to her father's Mansion. Throughout the ride home, she was in a sort of daze. Her mind kept replaying what had transpired between her and the vampire ever since their first accidental encounter. She felt a tear slip from her right eye and she hurriedly wiped it away so as not to worry the driver. She just wanted to be left alone.
The maids and workers of the mansion greeted her as she stepped out of the black sedan that had brought her. She gave each of them the best smile she could muster and quietly walked into the familiar mansion, not even sparing a glance at the beautiful decorations placed in preparation for Christmas.
She climbed up the curved staircase and turned left towards her own room. It was like her mind was on autopilot and she was sure she didn't even hear a word Mr. Hugh, her butler had said when he'd welcomed her home. She slumped onto her soft baby blue bedsheets and sighed once she curled herself into a ball.
She felt her eyes sting and hot tears began to flow as she sniffled repeatedly over her broken heart. She couldn't believe she'd told him she loved him only to be met with silence in return. She never wanted to speak to him again.

When her silent cries died down, she picked up her phone to check the time and almost shrieked when she discovered it was already late at night. How long had she been crying?
Mika!
She sat up and checked her notifications.
"9 missed calls from Mika...."
"13 messages from Mika...."
MIKA: Are you okay?....
17: 36...
MIKA: Did you get mauled by a bear or something???....
6: 09...
MIKA: Answer my texts....
12: 47...
MIKA: Hailey!!!!.... What's going on?
9: 54...
And many others asking if she was okay throughout the days she hadn't touched her phone while in the mountains. She had worried her best friend and felt a pang of guilt. She immediately dialed her number.
"Oh!!.... So now you call me?... What's up, Hay?" Hailey heard her best friend's voice from the other side of the phone.
"Hi...." She said quietly.
"What's wrong?... You sound depressed.... Were you crying?" Mika scolded. Hailey almost dropped her phone when Mika immediately switched to a video call.
Mika looked like she was laying down on her stomach and there was a pencil behind her right ear. Her platinum blonde hair was styled in a messy bun and her red eyes appraised Hailey from where she laid down. She was a vampire.
"You were crying.... What happened, Hay?... Tell me..." Mika's red eyes narrowed and the small beauty mark just below her right eye seemed more prominent because of her expression and her pale skin.
Hailey knew her best friend was very perceptive. They'd met during one of Hailey's father's business trips to Germany five years ago. Mika had persuaded Hailey to sneak out of the waiting room to an amusement park. From there, they had grown very close. Mika, though always far away, gave Hailey a sense of comfort and happiness whenever they called or texted every single day.
Though far apart, they were inseparable and Mika could read Hailey like a book.
Hailey sighed and told Mika exactly what had transpired during her short winter trip, without revealing the name of the man who had broken her heart.
"So you're saying..... You're not a virgin anymore?!....You loved him?... Woah woah woah... Did all this happen while you were on radio silence?..." Mika tried to make sense of it all.
"Yes.... Apparently Laito isn't the type to fall in love.... I'm so stupid...." Hailey tugged at her shoulder length brown hair and groaned in frustration.
"Laito?!.... As in Sakamaki Laito?!.... " Mika asked to confirm. That was when Hailey realized her blunder.
"Oh!.... Umm.... Yes...How do you know him?" She sighed, defeated.
Mika was silent for a few moments before speaking again,
"Actually, I'm an old friend of the Sakamakis.... We used to play together... Well... I mostly spent time with the triplets because Shu and Reiji's mother was really strict.... Then Subaru's mother wasn't always outside of her room..." Mika seemed to reminisce about something before adding,
"I can see why you said he made you his pet... From what I know, which isn't much... Laito and his brothers had gone through alot as children... So it makes sense he had been a douche to you....... I'm not justifying what he did... But wouldn't it have been better if you waited to talk to him the next morning... After you... Had sex...?"
"Um... I don't know..." Hailey answered honestly. She was too hurt to even think about that when she'd left him that night. Mika signed and sat up in an Indian sitting position.
" Even though... Kanato is a bit bipolar... Ayato is very troublesome....and Laito is a pervert... They weren't that way as children... They were each abused both physically and mentally... And each of those six brothers have their own dark and hollow demons that they are fighting on the inside... So I'd advise that.... Even though I know you're mad and hurting inside... And you may not want to see or speak to him again... Please just talk to him... For both of your sakes... None of the Sakamakis have a great way with feelings and it'll take courage and patience to love them..." Mika's eyes sparked like she was talking about a specific person.
"Are you in love with one of them?..." Hailey teased. Mika felt her face flush and she looked away.
"Oh shut up... I hardly think he'd remember me after so long... It's been decades...." Mika's red eyes held a hint of sorrow in them.
"I wish I could've stayed with him... He was and still is my sunshine.... Be careful, Hay.... And answer my frickin' texts... I was hella worried... Tell me how everything goes...I think I have to go now...love you loads....Later!..." And with that she hung up.
All the way in Germany, a huge manor sat on a wide expanse of grass which has been covered by snow. Mika placed her phone on her vanity and wiped her teary eyes.
" I hope Teddy is taking care of you, my love.... I'll see you soon... I promise I haven't forgotten..." She whispered as she looked into her mirror with a watery smile on her face. The silver ring on her left ring finger glistened in the light.
Back at the Bach's mansion, Hailey hugged her phone and thought to herself.
I don't know if I'll be able to face him immediately... But I'll try.... I'll talk to him once I'm ready... Thank you, Mika....
