I came from a Wolfpack that associated with humans more than wolves. It had been in the ancient times that our clan remained in-tune with our wolves but now in the modern world, our Wolfpack was considered fully human. Our pack leader Draeden, was cold and callous and knew how to exploit the wolf-clans to thrive in human society.
We had lost all our wolf powers overtime as we converted to the mortal ways. The only thing that separated us from the humans was our knowledge of the existence of wolves and werewolves. We had lost our fast-healing, acute sense of smell and heightened eye-site.
Draeden made sure we remained allied with various wolf-packs and conducted trades often to remain in good terms. Few knew of his true nature. Over the past few years, many wolf-packs had shared their concerns of an inability to match with mates.
Draeden had been trading off young orphaned girls and boys in exchange for various privileges and opportunities. There was a wolf pack Draeden had recently shown greater interest towards, they offered us a healing gel no human technology had been able to mimic.
I had been sent out on a private mission to investigate under the disguise of a negotiation under Draeden's private orders. He had given me the specific instructions of meeting with the clan individuals responsible for the creation of the healing gel and not to return until I could give him names and descriptions.
He had told me the ploy would be to increase our monthly demand of the gel but our main objective was to secure intel on the gel recipe. This was no easy ask but I had always been Draeden's most trusted beta. He was a man of few words and even less patience. I would perform and be rewarded as was always the case.
