A little information before begining the story : "(F/s)" = "Favourite sweet"

(Y/N) pov

A new morning dawned, and you woke up with a sense of excitement, eager to embrace the day ahead. As you stretched and yawned, you couldn't help but feel a wave of contentment wash over you. Yesterday had been a whirlwind of emotions and surprises, but now you were here, in Dazai's apartment, ready to begin your journey as a member of the Armed Detective Agency.

After a moment of relaxation, you decided to freshen up and start your day. Quietly slipping out of bed, you tiptoed past Jumper and Looki who were still nestled in their slumber. Making your way to the bathroom, you took a refreshing shower, the warm water invigorating your senses and washing away any remnants of sleep.

As you hummed a cheerful tune under the shower, your thoughts wandered back to the events of the previous day. You marveled at how quickly everything had fallen into place – from your chance encounter with the agency members to the warm welcome you had received. It was as if fate had guided you to this path, and you couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity.

Once you were done with your shower, you wrapped yourself in a fluffy towel and stepped out, feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. You quickly dried off and got dressed in the new clothes that Yosano had given you. The outfit was comfortable yet stylish, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging as you looked at yourself in the mirror.

With your appearance sorted, you made your way to the kitchen, your stomach rumbling in anticipation. You had always enjoyed cooking, and you wanted to start the day off right by preparing a delicious breakfast. As you moved around the kitchen, the aroma of the food began to fill the air, a tantalizing promise of the meal to come.

A little while later, the breakfast was nearly ready, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at the spread you had prepared. The scent wafted through the apartment, and you were lost in your thoughts as you set the table and made the final touches.

Just as you were about to call Jumper and Looki to join you, you heard footsteps approaching from behind. You turned around, a warm smile on your lips, only for your smile to widen as you saw your two companions bounding toward you with excitement in their eyes. "Good morning, you two," you greeted them affectionately, giving them each a quick pat on the head.

And as you finished to add the last preparations, you heard familiar footsteps approaching – a distinctive cadence that could only belong to one person. It then sopped behind you. "Dazai-san, I swear, if you try again to tickle me, I might just have to start reconsidering my breakfast choices," you retorted with a playful roll of your eyes, determined to preempt any future unpleasant actions for you.

Dazai's laughter, like a melodious tune, filled the room, his amusement infectious. "Ah, (Y/N), you wound me with your rejection," he replied dramatically, a trademark smirk playing on his lips.

You chuckled at his theatrical response, the friendly banter between you two coming naturally. "Well, maybe you should focus on finding your own breakfast instead of a potential victim," you quipped, your tone teasing as you stood your ground.

Dazai placed a hand over his heart in mock hurt. "Ah, but the culinary masterpiece you're preparing is much more enticing than anything I could find in a mere kitchen," he declared with an exaggerated sigh, his eyes gleaming mischievously.

You couldn't help but laugh at his response. "Flattery will get you nowhere, Dazai-san," you teased, your lips curving into a playful smile.

Dazai's grin widened. "Ah, but what is life without a little flattery and whimsy?" he mused, his tone light.

As you exchanged witty remarks, the atmosphere felt surprisingly comfortable and easygoing. It was as if you had known Dazai for much longer than a day, and his presence only added to the sense of camaraderie that had begun to form among the two of you.

With Dazai's playful banter and your light-hearted retorts filling the air, you all sat down to enjoy the breakfast you had prepared. The table was soon adorned with an array of delicious dishes, and the aroma of the food seemed to enhance the friendly atmosphere. Jumper and Looki eagerly joined in, their tails wagging as they looked up at you with adoration, clearly excited about the feast that awaited them.

As you all dug into the meal, sharing stories and laughter, you couldn't help but marvel at how quickly you had become a part of this little group. Dazai's charm and wit, combined with the warmth of your companions, made for a truly enjoyable morning.

Once breakfast was finished, you took a moment to lean back in your chair, feeling content and satisfied. "That was delicious, (Y/N)," Dazai complimented with a grin.

You smiled back at him, appreciating the compliment. "Thank you, Dazai-san. I'm glad you enjoyed it."

Jumper and Looki chimed in with their own cheerful attitude, as if agreeing with Dazai's assessment.

As you began to clear the table, Dazai leaned back in his chair, his gaze thoughtful. "You know, (Y/N), today is your first official day as a member of the Armed Detective Agency," he then looked at you, a sense of anticipation as he smiled, "So? Are you exited?"

You paused, setting down a plate, and looked at him with excitement. "Yes, and I'm already looking forward to it."

Dazai's eyes twinkled mischievously. "Good, because we have quite the day ahead of us. And as much as I'd love to stay and bask in your delightful cooking, we do have some matters to attend to at the agency."

You nodded, feeling a rush of eagerness. "You're right, let me just finish washing the plates."

Dazai pushed himself up from the table and stretched languidly. "Of course, and let me help you with that. It will be quicker."

"Thanks, Dazai." you responded with a smile.

With Dazai's help, you quickly tidied up the kitchen, making sure everything was in order. Once everything was settled, you turned towar, "Alright, let's go now!" you said excitedly.

"Our squirrel is excited, isn't it?" Dazai said, smirking as he looked at you.

"I'm not a squirrel!" you exclaimed, pouting at him, which only made him laugh.

As you both headed out of the apartment and towards the agency, you couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building within you. The thought of joining the rest of the agency members and taking on new challenges filled you with excitement. The day was young, and you were ready to dive into whatever awaited you as a member of the Armed Detective Agency.

Time skip

As you and Dazai walked towards the agency, your excitement grew with each step. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the city, and the anticipation of what the day might hold made your heart race. The streets were bustling with activity, people going about their business, seemingly unaware of the extraordinary world you had now become a part of.

As you walked, you couldn't help but glance around, taking in the sights and sounds of Yokohama. However, amidst the usual urban scenery, you felt as if you were observed, you looked around and something caught your eye. A brief flicker of movement, almost like a shadow, darted across an alleyway. You turned your head, trying to catch another glimpse, but whatever it was had vanished.

"Everything alright?" Dazai's voice broke your train of thought, and you turned to find him looking at you curiously.

You nodded, though your mind was still on what you had seen. "Yeah, I thought I saw something... Probably just my imagination."

Dazai's eyes glinted with interest as he leaned in slightly. "Oh? Do tell, what did you see?"

You hesitated for a moment, unsure if you should mention it. After all, it could have been a trick of the light or a passing shadow. But something in Dazai's expression encouraged you to share.

"It was just a flicker of movement, like a shadow, in that alley over there," you explained, pointing to the spot where you had seen it. "It was quick, so I can't be sure."

Dazai's playful smile transformed into a thoughtful expression as he looked at the alley you pointed at. "Shadows, huh?" As he lost himself in his thoughts, Dazai's gaze turned more serious, and a hint of mystery lingered in his voice. "You need to know something, (Y/N). In this city, things are rarely as they seem. Keep your senses sharp, and trust your instincts. Sometimes, what you perceive as mere imagination could be reality, and I advise you to be in guard when times like that come."

His words sent a shiver down your spine. You had momentarily forgotten that this world was not so different from yours, and danger could be lurking around any corner at any moment.

"I will keep that in mind," you said in a serious tone, your resolve strengthening.

Dazai's enigmatic smile returned, and you both continued walking, the looming building of the agency coming into view ahead.

As you entered the agency, the room seemed to come alive with greetings. "Hey there!" "Morning!" "Good to see you again!" Voices called out from various corners, and you found yourself surrounded by friendly faces. It was heartwarming to be welcomed with such warmth.

Among the welcoming voices, you heard Kunikida's organized tone. "Ah, (Y/N), perfect timing. Your desk is right over there." he pointed in front of him, "I've prepared a list of tasks for you to start with." Kunikida's gaze shifted to Dazai, and annoyance crept into his voice. "Dazai, go finish the work you haven't done yet."

Dazai responded with a teasing tone, "Yes, yes," a smirk dancing on his lips, which only seemed to escalate Kunikida's irritation.

Despite his momentary frustration, Kunikida quickly regained his composure. "Atsushi, make sure to assist (Y/N) in getting acquainted with the agency's basic procedures."

Atsushi, standing nearby, was taken aback but nodded at the order. "Yes, Kunikida-san. (Y/N), don't worry, I'll help you navigate everything."

You thanked them both, appreciating their assistance and headed toward your desk while Dazai went to what seemed to be his desk because of all documents empilled on it. Jumper and Looki, your loyal companions, couldn't help but explore the new surroundings. Jumper hopped onto a nearby desk, while Looki headed happily toward Kenji to play with him, both happily enjoying the bustling agency.

As you settled at your desk, Atsushi began to explain the basics you needed to know and showed you how to handle things correctly. It was easy for you to grasp, and you quickly got the hang of it, surprising Atsushi with your quick comprehension. It made sense, considering you had your passive ability 'Fleeting Absorption,' which aided you in understanding and grasping things more quickly than normal.

After a while, Atsushi left, confident that you were good to go on your own. As you focused on your work, you heard a voice calling your name.

"Hey, hey, (Y/N)! Want some sweets?"

You turned your chair and saw Ranpo offering you a bag of sweets with a mischievous smile. "A little treat to sweeten your day. Try it!"

You laughed and accepted the sweets, enjoying his playful spirit. "Thank you, Ranpo-san."

Curiosity piqued, you tasted the sweets, and a glimmer appeared in your eyes. "Woah, they're really good! What are these?" you asked, excited.

"Those are (F/s)!" he replied. "So I assume you like them?"

"I love them!" you expressed happily.

"Good, I'll search for more sweets for you to discover and let you taste them later then!" With that, he returned to his desk, rummaging through his stash of treats.

As you continued working, a sudden movement caught your attention. Dazai had rolled his chair over, his signature grin in place.

"Well, well, our newest member is already making themselves at home," he remarked. "You're fitting right in, (Y/N)."

You smiled, feeling a sense of camaraderie with these people who had quickly become your colleagues and friends. "Yeah, and I like it very much here." you then sighed, "But I'm starting to get bored of all this paperwork."

Dazai's mischievous grin widened, "Oh? Then we should..."

Before he could finish his sentence, a voice, crisp and authoritative, interrupted the moment. It was Kunikida. "Enough, Dazai."

"Tch, always ruining the fun without it even begin." he responded annoyed.

"I have a task for you, (Y/n)," Kunikida continued, causing you to sit up straighter, immediately attentive. "We have a new case, and I believe you're more than capable of handling it."

"Me? Are you sure about this, Kunikida-san? I've only just started today..."

Kunikida's gaze met yours, his determination evident. "All of us are currently occupied with other matters, and you, along with Dazai, are the only ones available to take this on."

Dazai chimed in with his usual nonchalant demeanor, his smile hinting at something mischievous. "Look at it this way – at least you won't be bored anymore."

"True, but I'm not entirely confident in my abilities to handle a case just yet," you admitted, your self-doubt surfacing.

Dazai's expression shifted, and he leaned in slightly, his voice proud. "You have me to guide you, (Y/n). You'll do just fine."

"Besides, didn't you mention you enjoy taking on challenges head-on?" Ranpo chimed in from his reclined position, munching on a bag of chips.

You chuckled, a mix of nervousness and determination bubbling within you. "Yes, you're right. I did say that."

"Then it's settled," Kunikida affirmed. "This case involves a series of unusual deaths. There seems to be a pattern, each victim possesses a unique ability, and a different flower has been found at each crime scene. We suspect an organized group behind this, targeting ability users."

Your mind raced as you processed the information. "An organization with a vendetta against ability users?"

"Precisely," Kunikida confirmed. "Your ability and your fresh perspective might be exactly what we need to crack this case."

You nodded, a mix of excitement and determination coursing through you. This was your chance to prove yourself and contribute to the agency's work. "Then, I'm ready to take on this case."

"Great," Kunikida said, handing you a folder containing the case details. "Familiarize yourself with the information. The first step is to visit the crime scenes and find any informations we could have skipped to find the criminals. We're counting on you, (Y/n)."

As you held the folder in your hands, you felt a surge of determination. This was your first case, and you didn't want to fail it.

Dazai got up from his seat, his signature grin in place. "So, shall we get to work?"

"Absolutely," you replied, feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves. You called Jumper over, who hopped onto your shoulder, and Looki who trotted beside you. With your loyal companions by your side, you joined Dazai and made your way toward the exit of the agency.

Walking side by side, you both left the agency for a brief respite. The sun's morning rays warmed your skin as you found a quiet spot nearby to sit and review the case details.

Dazai leaned against a railing, his gaze fixed on the horizon as he began, "So, what do we have here?"

You opened the folder and started reading, "Six separate incidents, each with a unique set of circumstances and different time of death. But, the victims have a connexion, they are each time two to have the same cause of death. Moreover, the victims were found in different locations, and there's another common factor – a flower was discovered at each crime scene."

Dazai listened attentively as you continued to summarize the details. "The victims' causes of death were different – two drowned, two other suffered from poisoning, and the two last were found with mysterious puncture wounds."

Dazai tapped his chin thoughtfully, his gaze fixed on the horizon. "Interesting choice of victims and methods. It's almost poetic, don't you think?"

You shot him a quizzical look. "Poetic? People are dying in bizarre and horrifying ways."

Dazai's smile widened. "Exactly, that's what makes it poetic. Death wrapped in symbolism, a message hidden within nature's delicate beauty. Our adversary seems to have quite the artistic flair."

The gravity of the situation settled in as you realized the layers of meaning behind these murders. The killer wasn't just taking lives; they were crafting a sinister narrative, using flowers as their identifier.

"But why target ability users? And why use flowers ?" you mused aloud.

Dazai's expression grew more serious. "That's what we're here to find out, (Y/n). Let's dig deeper into this. First let's go to the crime scenes and see what we could find."

You nodded and with Dazai, you began to head to your first destination, the first crime scene. However, you couldn't help but still feel like you were observed.
