(Ruby)
Y/N and the others are thrown back after their initial assault by the Nuckelavee as it raised its human-like head back, twitching as it screams loudly again, and everyone covered their ears at the sheer intensity of the sound. After that, the Grimm look at its surroundings. It then turned took at Y/N and the others, who are very clearly surrounded in a smoke of black mist that are outline in the Grimm's vision. The Grimm tilt its head to their left to straight at the biggest cloud of darkness, Qrow along with the large smoke of black and red mist surrounding Y/N. Realizing where it's looking at, both Ruby and Y/N turn to Qrow.
Y/N #1: "Qrow!"
Immediately, Y/N ran towards the immobile huntsman. Without warning, the Grimm extend its long arms towards Y/N, but Ruby uses her semblance to speed over their direction, grab and pull them away from the Grimm's claws. Not used to carrying the weight of a two individual, Ruby stumbles at the end of her dash and has to readjust. Acting quickly, Y/N put one of Qrow's arms over his own shoulder and lift him up to his feet as Ruby does the same.
Y/N #1: "Thanks, Rubes."
Ruby: "No problem."
Suddenly, they look around to see the horse part of the Grimm charging towards them. Y/N's free hand went to the hilt of his blade instinctively, but this is when Ren drop to the ground and use his semblance spread the gray scaling on the ground, Ruby, Y/N, and Qrow.
Y/N #1: ("What the?")
Ren: "Just get him to safety!"
Y/N and Ruby nod gratefully and began walking away as fast as they could with the help of Y/N mimicking Ruby's semblance. The Grimm stops, confused at their "disappearances" just as a barrage of grenades from Nora slam into its sight. The red-eyed Y/N and Ruby dragged Qrow to a secluded spot at the foot of a building, hidden away from the battlefield, settling him down.
Ruby: "We should hurry back."
Y/N #1: "Right."
Before they turn to leave, Qrow's hand shout out and grab Ruby's hand.
Ruby: "Qrow?"
Y/N #1: "Can you hear us?"
Before he could say anything, Qrow pass out, letting go of Ruby's hand. Ruby and Y/N share a quick look before nodding and rushing back to the fight where Nora, Ren, and Jaune are circling around the Nuckelavee. During this, Y/N and Ruby draw out their Grimm Slayer and Crescent Rose respectively.
Y/N #1: "What's the plan?"
Jaune: "We're moving around in a circle and attacking pot shots at it."
Y/N #1: "Sounds like a plan."
Y/N then goes to sheath back Grimm Slayer and goes to take out his pistols. With the Nuckelavee distracted with Ren, Nora, and Jaune circling around it, Ruby rushes towards the Grimm to slash its head only for one of its lengthy arms to knock her out of the sky.
Jaune: "Ruby!"
Seeing this, the red-eyed Y/N use Ruby's semblance to dash over to her and manage to catch her bridal style.
Ruby: "Thanks for the save."
Y/N #1: "Circle straight, Ruby. It can't lock onto any of us."
Ruby: "Got it."
Placing her back on her feet, Y/N and Ruby rush over to join the others in circling around the Grimm, taking swipes and pot shots at it, while it's unable to lock onto any of them. Nora's grenades do land a hit on the Grimm only for a few to be knock away by it and slam into some buildings nearby, causing a noticeable fire on top of the buildings. With all this running around, the Nuckelavee raise its head up high suddenly, and began to spin quickly, its long arms extended outwards. Y/N and the others tried to avoid the arms but, it ends up knocking them off their feet.
Y/N #1: ("Damn, those arms are too fast.")
It then rips its mouth open and extends the spikes in its back as it let out a loud, horrific scream.
Y/N #1: "Damn it, it's getting stronger. Its attacks will be faster now."
The Grimm jogs over to where Jaune has fallen and slams down at him with its front hooves. Luckily, Jaune blocks it with his shield but, between his struggling and the crater below him, it's carving his body. He's only to a few seconds before being crushed. Seeing this, Y/N goes to shoot Crimson at it to get its attention, which it does as it use its other arm to attack him. Only for Y/N to quickly take out Grimm Slayer to block it, despite the pain he's feeling in his left arm.
Y/N #1: ("Fuck, this hurt a lot!")
During this, Nora and Ren watch from their prone position as Nora comes up with her own plan. With a determined look on her face, she reaches into her pocket and pulls out an electrical dust. Ren see this with a shock expression.
Ren: "Nora, stop!"
Ignoring his words, Nora stabs the dust into her shoulder as a flurry of electrical sparks. She bursts forward to slam into the distracted Nuckelavee, taking it off balance enough for Jaune to escape and for Y/N to land a strike at it, followed by Ruby landing a strike of her own. Their attacks make the Grimm cry in pain.
Ruby: "You okay, Y/N?"
Y/N #1: "Don't worry about me. Focus on taking that damn thing down."
Still concerned, Ruby just nods to him before she and the red-eyed Y/N engage in quick strikes the Grimm's legs and body, using Ruby's semblance of course. Meanwhile, Nora collapses to the side, clearly in pain as her body twitches from the dust inside of her. While the Nuckelavee is preoccupied with Ruby and Y/N's speedy attacks, it turns to look at the same large black mist a couple blocks away, barely seeing the silhouette of Qrow, visibly shivering and groaning in pain from the position he's in. The Grimm starts to lose interest in Y/N and the others as it heads over the misery it can see on Qrow. Picking up on this, Ren climbs up on the dead tree in the center of town and fires at it, distracting it. He leapt off from the tree to avoid getting hit by its arm only to get hit in midair as the large Grimm used one of its long arms to pin Ren to the decorated wall of a nearby building.
Y/N #1: ("Huh?")
Y/N see that wall that has been painted with images of a giant swimming creature with flying creatures hovering around it with texts above it mostly smudged up with only one visible word below it saying: Korshira. Nora, seeing the Grimm about to finish Ren off, quickly turns to Ruby nearby.
Nora: "Ruby! Launch me!"
With a nod, Ruby use Crescent Rose to launch Nora in between Ren and the Nuckelavee's would-be fatal strike with its other hand as her hammer is pinned to the building above Ren, with Nora dangling from it. With a growl, the Grimm furiously start slamming Nora on the ground again and again until it flings to the ground, breaking her aura and seemingly leaving her unconscious. Somewhat recovering, Ruby turns to Y/N.
Ruby: "Any ideas, Y/N?"
Y/N #1: "I think I got something. Follow my-"
Before he could finish his sentence, Ren freed himself from the Grimm's grip, making a mad dash towards it. The Grimm knocked him aside with its arms but, Ren kept dashing at it furiously again and again with anger plastered over his face.
Y/N #1: "What the hell is he doing?"
Jaune: "Ren! Knock it off!"
Ren ignores him, letting out a shout as he made a final dash towards the Grimm, but it took hold of his ankle with one of its arms. It then flung him through the air, slamming him on the ground next to Nora. Ren's aura has also been depleted. Despite this, Ren staggered back to his feet as Y/N see the murderous glare in his eyes towards the Grimm.
Y/N #1: ("His glare is just like... mine...")
As the horse part of the Grimm starts charging at Ren and Nora, Y/N swiftly moved towards them with Grimm Slayer in hand, standing in front of them to block the front legs of the horse from slamming down on Nora and Ren. Following this up, Ruby fires at it from behind, drawing its attention away from them and Jaune goes to attack the horse itself. With the Grimm distracted for the time being, Ren stood up to move towards the Grimm but, Y/N blocked his path.
Ren: "Y/N, move."
Y/N remains still, staring at him.
Y/N #1: "No. Not until you get a hold of yourself, Ren."
Ren tried to move past Y/N but, Nora held him back by his wrist much to Y/N's surprise.
Nora: "Ren..."
Ren just glances over to Nora with her head down.
Ren: "Nora! Let go! They're going to get hurt if we don't-"
Suddenly, quick as a flash, Nora backhanded Ren across his face. Ren turned around startled, to face Nora, and she stared at him with a sad look in her eyes.
Nora: "No, I won't let you kill yourself like this. After everything we've been through... I won't let it end. Not like this."
Tears filled Nora's eyes as she spoke, and Ren looked down at the ground, feeling a wave of guilt rush over him. Y/N place a hand on his shoulder from behind.
Y/N #1: "Ren. I get your anger and hate for that Grimm, for what it did to this village. But it's not worth throwing your life away like this. Revenge or whatever else, all of that won't matter if you die here."
As Ren turn to face Y/N, he continues speaking.
Y/N #1: "Look, I... I know acted like a jerk to you before, and I'm sorry. It's probably too soon for me to make this request, but... I'm asking you to trust me. I'm asking you to let us help you, Ren."
Ren then reached down and drew out a specially crafted dagger from his boot. He stared down at it in his palm before Nora reached out and closed it with her own. This time when she looked at him, there was determination in her eyes.
Nora: "We can do this."
Ren: "Right."
With a nod to her, he then turns to Y/N.
Ren: "Do you have a plan, Y/N?"
As Y/N nod to him, both Ruby and Jaune ran up to them.
Y/N #1: "Alright, so this is how it's gonna play out. That Grimm's arms are its means of both offense and defense. While Ruby, Nora, and Jaune take care of its arms first, it'll leave it defenseless for me to take out the horse, killing its mobility. And Ren..."
He quickly turns to Ren.
Y/N #1: "You handle the rest."
Ren nod in agreement as they all turn to the Nuckelavee, preparing to launch their assault on it.
Ruby: "Let's do this, guys."
As she said this, the Grimm charged with one of its arms at them. Everyone scattered to avoid its attack as Ruby fire Crescent Rose to draw its attention. The Grimm goes to attack her with one arm, but Ruby quickly dashed from building to building, firing shots from her sniper to boost her mobility. She landed on the ground and leapt up in the air again just as the Grimm's arm landed on the spot where she had been. However, before it could bring its arm back, Ruby dropped down and stabbed her scythe through the arm, pinning it down to the ground. The Grimm squealed in pain, just as Jaune rushed in front of it, blade raised high, pretending to make a strike. As the Nuckelavee shot out its other arm to Jaune, Nora dropped down immediately, intercepting the arm with her hammer, slamming it down on the ground.
Nora: "Jaune now!"
The blonde boy quickly run over and stab his sword through the arm, impaling through it and nailing it to the ground.
Jaune: "Y/N! The horse!"
Y/N #1: "On it!"
Using Ruby's semblance, the red-eyed Y/N quickly dash towards to the horse with Grimm Slayer in hand, despite the growing pain coming from his left arm. With a quick clean slice, Y/N manage to decapitate the head of the horse, which fell to the ground with a loud thud. The horned humanoid Grimm screamed loudly in agony as the horse dropped to the ground, completely lifeless. It violently twitched and jerked its head forward to roar in Y/N's face as he remains unbothered by it. He then hoists his sword on his shoulder, leaving his left arm empty, giving a disgusted expression at the Grimm's bony face.
Y/N #1: "I won't be your reaper, but he will."
As he said this, Y/N walked away just as Ren walked up to the trapped Grimm slowly, with his dagger gripped tightly in his right hand. The Nuckelavee scream once more in Ren's face, but he doesn't budge an inch or even blink. Instead, Ren just stare at the Grimm's face directly with a calm anger in his eyes.
Ren: ("For my mother...")
With one swing, he used the dagger to sever one of the Grimm's outstretched arms. As it squirmed and screamed in agony, Ren grabbed it by one of its horns, steadying it in place.
Ren: ("For my father...")
He swiftly slices off the second arm and it fell uselessly to the ground like the arm before it.
Ren: ("For all those that you've slain...")
He ran his dragger across the trapped Grimm's chest, making it scream even louder. Ren then close his eyes to take a deep breath.
Ren: "For myself."
Immediately, Ren open his eyes as he swung his dagger with all his might, beheading the monstrosity's head. In a few seconds, the corpse of the Grimm slowly begins to evaporate into a huge cloud of black smoke, leaving the large tar-like skeleton behind. The last words Ren spoke as he made his assault on the Grimm were uttered in a low tone, low enough for Y/N, who was next to Ren, was the only one who heard it. Before he could speak to Ren, Y/N couldn't help but smile upon seeing this Grimm die as it let out its last cry in agony, for some unknown reason.
Y/N #1: "Some ritual you did there."
Ren just shrugs lightly.
Ren: "It was... necessary."
Y/N goes to place a hand on Ren's shoulder as he put away Grimm Slayer.
Y/N #1: "Well, I hope you got the closure you needed."
Ren: "Thanks, Y/N."
Suddenly, Nora slammed into Ren, tackling to the floor with a tight hug, laughing loudly. Ren hesitated for a moment before wrapping his arms around her too. As Y/N smiled at the scene, his eyes met Ruby's and they soon walk over to hug each other with Ruby holding him tightly.
Ruby: "How's your left arm?"
Y/N #1: "It hurts like hell, but other than that, I'm just exhausted."
After a moment of silence hugging, they quickly separate, both widened their eyes and uttered the name of someone they had forgotten about.
Ruby & Y/N #1: "Qrow."
With the help of Ruby's semblance, both Ruby and Y/N turn into a small tornado of red and black rose petals as they reach the spot of the building where Qrow was left. They share a sigh of relief upon seeing that seeing Qrow, laying in his spot, eyes somewhat open, and breathing softly. Slowly, Qrow turns his head to them as they approach him.
Qrow: "It's quiet... heh, good job kids."
Y/N just smirk as he clutches his left arm.
Y/N #1: "Was there ever any doubt?"
Ruby also smiles as she wraps her arm around Y/N's right arm.
Ruby: "We got through it as a team. Like we always do."
Y/N #1: "And we'll get through this as well."
Jaune: "Guys! I think I hear something!"
Ruby and Y/N turn to the sound of two Mistral airships landing down in the town's center with Nora pointing in Qrow's direction to a medic. With a smile on his face, Y/N turns to Qrow.
Y/N #1: "See? Maybe you're not so unlucky after all."
After that, two men in a brown flight suit with an air tank on their back carries Qrow on a green stretcher with Ruby walking alongside them, with Ruby's hand on Qrow's shoulder. As for Y/N, a medic put Y/N's arm around his shoulder and carrying him one the airship Ruby, Jaune, and Qrow are in. With everyone on board, the two rescue ships takes off. Jaune goes to ask one of the Mistral pilots.
Jaune: "How did you find us out here?"
Mistral Pilot: "We were on patrol and saw the smoke and fire all the way over in Sakuraso. Nobody's been out here for years, thought something might be wrong."
Jaune: "Please, take us to Mistral."
Mistral Pilot: "No problem."
While one of the medics treat Y/N's wounds, Ruby goes to crouch down beside Qrow and hold his hand.
Ruby: "What if we don't make it in time?"
Y/N #1: "Ruby. Look."
He points out the open-door space as Ruby raise her head to look at what he was gesturing to. She looks up and sees the flourishing city of Mistral before them, growing ever larger as they inched closer to it. Y/N bent down and put a hand on Ruby's shoulder measuredly, as he sees the joyful expression on her face.
Ruby: "We made it... we actually made it."
Y/N #1: "We sure did..."
As he said this, Y/N slowly drift to sleep as his exhaustion finally caught up to him as he lay down on the airship's floor. As for Nora and Ren, they sit on the edge of the open rescue airship, their legs dangling. Nora is looking out at the city, feeling happy. Ren is watching her, begins smiling and puts his hand on hers. She gives a slight start but turns her hand over to hold his. She looks at him and gives him a smile, and he smiles back. Nora scoots closer and rests her head on his shoulder as the airships fly into the city.
