[The school bell rings as you get out of school for summer vacation. You passed pretty nicely, but not straight A's either, you're (Y/N) a pretty average guy to say the least. That was the main feature about you, average. You were good at what you were good at and you were bad with what you were bad at. You weren't particularly bad looking, but you certainly didn't have girls swooning over you. You didn't play a sport like most guys in your school, you didn't even play band. Instead you just played video games and watch U-Toob all day, but something on TV caught your eye about a month ago, a commercial for a supposed reboot for the hit reality TV show Total Drama Island, with the same host, Chris McLean. It wasn't the mediocre looking shacks, the mediocre looking camp food, or even the wildlife. It was the offered 1 million dollar prize for anyone who could manage to survive till the end, you even signed up using their online forum and recorded a required introduction about yourself. You already knew you weren't gonna win, but you just thought it would be a nice experience, probably make a few friends, and who knows, maybe even get a girlfriend.]
(Y/N): "Like that'll ever happen." [You sigh and shake your head.]
[After about a 15 minute walk, you reach your house and open the door, only to see your mom cooking dinner.]
(Y/N): "Hey mom, guess dad's busy again?"
(Y/M) [Your Mom]: "Yup, he's out late again."
[This was your family, a mom who was really sweet, but stern when she needed to be, and a father, who always needed to work late, but was a pretty fun guy to be around. Pretty much an average suburban family.]
(Y/N): "Jeez, well, what're you making?"
[She doesn't turn away from the pot as she responds.]
(Y/M): "Just some soup, using the leftovers up. Oh, also you got something in the mail, I put it on your desk, and don't worry, I didn't snoop."
(Y/N): "Thanks" [You start to climb the stairs as your mom calls out to you.]
(Y/M): "Dinner will be ready in a bit, so don't get too carried away!"
(Y/N): "Yeah yeah I know."
[You finish up the stairs and go into your room. It's got a TV, a few consoles, and even a computer to name a few things. On the computer stand you notice a white envelope. You set down your bag and pick it up, everything looks hand written and normal. You shrug and open it, thinking it's just some more junkmail, that is until a letter and a ticket fall out.]
[You throw the envelope in the trash and look at the ticket, it's a boat ticket for...
Camp Wawanakwa...
Your eyes grow big as you pick up the letter, it reads:
Congrats! You are the 17th and final contestant to be chosen for the reboot of Total Drama Island! Please follow the coordinates as written on this letter so you can find your way to the island, but don't be late, this position closes in only a few days! Will you come back with your pockets full of moolah, or disappointment?

[You hurry out of your room and down the stairs, nearly startling your mother as she's putting plates out on the table.]
(Y/M): "(Y/N)! You know better than to run down here like that! Now what's got you all riled up?"
(Y/N): "I got on to Total Drama!"
[Your mother looks at you confused.]
(Y/M): "Total wha?"
(Y/N): "Total Drama? Ya know the show where the winner wins a million dollars if they out last all the other contestants!"
[Your mother thinks for a bit and as if a lightbulb went off inside of her, her face lights up.]
(Y/M): "Ohh! Like that Heavens Dreams, or Surviving show!"
(Y/N): "Yeah, like those."
(Y/M): "...Yeah you're not going."
[Your jaw practically hits the floor as you hear this.]
(Y/N):" W-what!?"
(Y/M): "You heard me, now what if you go and get injured out there, or worse! Those shows are too dangerous."
(Y/N): "Come on mom! I'm sure I'll be fine!"
(Y/M): "I said no (Y/N)."
[Suddenly you both hear a car door close and a car horn go off. You look over and see the front door open to reveal your dad.]
(Y/D) [Your Dad]: "Heyo! How're you two doing."
(Y/M): "(Y/N) got onto this "Totally Drama" show and I'm not letting him go out and get hurt!"
[Your dad stops for a second and turns to you.]
(Y/D): "Total Drama..?"
(Y/M): "Yeah, that's it."
[His eyes widen.]
(Y/D): "(Y/M), do you know what this means? If he wins, we could finally get out of this dump and move into a better house like we've been wanting to for years! And even if he doesn't win, imagine how famous we'd be!"
[Your dad did have a point, while the house was fine and all, it did have its issues. whether the windows didn't shut properly, or a leaky pipe in the basement that dripped water all over the floor, or even the wooden staircase that had a few too many splinters to be classified as safe. And with how expensive things were now a days, having the opportunity to get a free million dollars was a no brainer.]
(Y/M): "W-well yes.. but again the risks!"
(Y/D): "Hon, he's not 8 anymore, let him do this, besides, the scars are all apart of the experience!"
[You and your dad chuckle as he pats you on the back, all the while your mom looks on nervously.]
(Y/D): "Besides, if he does get severely hurt, we can always sue the show."
[Your mom ponders for a second and sighs.]
(Y/M): "Fine."
[You fist bump the air in celebration.]
(Y/N): "Yes! Thanks guys!"
(Y/D): "No problem kid, now lets eat, I want you to head to bed early so we can get their earlier! Just tell us where you need to go in the morning."
*Timeskip*
[One breakfast, a shower, and a bag full of necessities, double checked by your mom to be sure, the three of you make it to a dock that was a few hours away.]
(Y/D): "You have the ticket?"
[You pull out the ticket and show it to him as he smiles. When a girl with dark skin with freckles, brown eyes and brown hair sporting a red cap with a lighter red circle in the middle approaches the three of you.]
Intern: "Hello! I suppose you're one of the contestants?"
(Y/N): "Yup!" [You show her the ticket as she looks it over.]
Intern: "Perfect! The boat is all ready to go, I'll be ready when you are!" [She smiles and walks back over to the boat. You turn to a father who's smiling from ear to ear and a mother who looks like she's about to pass out from worry as you walk over and pull them into a group hug.]
(Y/D): "You try your hardest out there, alright kid?"
(Y/N): "I will dad."
(Y/D): "And remember, even if you don't win, we'll still be proud."
(Y/M): "And you be safe out there!"
(Y/N): "Don't worry mom, I will."
[The three of you separate as you walk over to the boat, bag in hand. You look back and wave to them as they wave back. The boat pulls away from the dock as your parents slowly fade in the horizon, waving the whole time.]
[And from this point onward, your life will change forever, for the best, or, for the worst.]
