Chad sighed, then coughed a little.
"Oh dear... oh dear, how will my girls survive without their parents for five days?" he sighed.
"Chad, your kids will be fine. They always seem fine when you get back from Actorville" said Sam.
"I just call that good luck" said Chad.
"Hey. The flu beats needing your tonsils removed" said Charles Wallace.
"It does" said Chad.
He sneezed again. "Gesundheit" said Charles Wallace and Sam together.
"Thank you. Well... Charles, if I'm not well before Jeremy comes back... just let him know" said Chad as he sadly walked away.
Charles Wallace and Sam looked on at their sick and dejected friend.
"Gee, Sammy. I wish there was a way we could keep Chad from worrying about Idina and Kristen" said Charles Wallace.
"Me too. He seems to care more about them than about his own health" said Sam.
"Hey. It's what dads do" said Charles Wallace.
"I wouldn't know" said Sam.
"You know what Jeremy did once when Matthew got sick like that?" said Charles Wallace.
"What?"
"He stayed by his side and made me cling to Lucy the whole time."
Sam cocked her head in interest.
"Y'know, I never realized what could happen if children are left alone because both their parents are incapacitated by some health problem" said Charles Wallace.
"Hmm. This ain't much of a mystery, but we still have a hurting friend to tend to. Let's sound the siren" said Sam.
"But, Sam, it's only us. We don't need our uniforms at a time like this" said Charles Wallace.
Sam thought on it. "Yeah, you might be right. Let's just find Calvin and discuss a plan."
"Good idea" said Charles Wallace.
So the two of them went to Carmichael's car shop and found Calvin in lot 2.
"Hey, guys. What's up?" said Calvin.
"Chad's temperature" said Charles Wallace.
"Yeah, he's got the flu. And Meg's getting her tonsils removed" said Sam.
"But what about Idina and Kristen? Both their parents are sick" said Calvin.
"That's exactly what we're here to talk about. Meg's been concerning herself with that a lot lately, so Chad says" said Sam.
"Interesting..." said Calvin.
