Monday comes by its the day of the tournament. Their school joins a lot of tournament. She was seated with Yuna whi she didn't know was also on the chess club because Yeji was seated with Yeonjun.
"You're the one who beat Taehyun. Lee Chaeryeong right?" Yuna asked.
"Yes." Chaeryeong answered.
"What's your ranking?" Yuna asked.
"I'm unranked. It's my first time joining actually." Chaeryeong said.
"An unranked player? You'll be accelerated for sure." Yuna said.
"Accelerated?" Chaeryeong asked.
"Some has the chance to accelerate and compete with the higher ranked ones. These tournaments will look at your games and check your level specially new comers and unranked ones." Yuna explained.
Note : I would like to remind everyone that this is fictional and it's almost impossible for anyone to accelerate this much specially on chess tournaments. But since as I said this is fictional Chaeryeong will accelerate very fast.
Chaeryeong's first match starts. Taehyun decided to watch since he's higher ranked their matches often start late or at the end of the tournament.
Opponents play five games of chess to determine the winner. If the player wins three games they will be paired with a higher level or somone like them who won three consecutive matches.
Chaeryeong sat down and offered a hand to her opponent but she ignored Chaeryeong.
Chaeryeong moves her pawn to d4 a common opening for Ruy Lopez openingavoidingthe Marshall Attack but this not Chaeryeong's initial plan, her opponent quickly responds moving her pawn to c4.
The knights go to their natural squares, c3 and f3.
Chaeryeong's opening is called Queens Gambit. It allows her to control the game and act as the threat to restrict her opponent to develop her moves.
As expected Chaeryeong easily won that round using the same tactic for the second round she won again and for the last round she decided to use the opening she commonly does with her game with Taehyun. She was confident because the Ruy Lopez opening is one of the hardest to master. Meaning a starter like her possibly doesn't know how to do proper defense to win.
Chaeryeong's smiles as she finished that round with a clean victory.
"Ms. Lee based on your record. You're unranked but a lot of professionals are reviewing your plays and they're saying they believe youre at least at a 1800 ranking." One of the coordinator said.
"We're considering if you're eligible for acceleration. We recommend taking on a match with the same range as you." The coordinator added.
Chaeryeong looked at Yeji, Yuna and Taehyun who was watching her.
"Taehyun would you mind helping her out with the coordinator?" Yeji asked.
Taehyun went near Chaeryeong who was talking to the coordinator.
"I'm her schoolmate, she's a student from JYP Academy. Is there an issue?" Taehyun asked the coordinator. The coordinator then explained to Taehyun.
"You should do it Chaeryeong. You need to beat your opponent five times it would automatically raise your ranking higher that theirs." Taehyun said.
"You think so?" Chaeryeong asked and Taehyun nodded.
"Then I'll do it." Chaeryeong nervously said. "Let's go this way then." The coordinator said.
Taheyun went back and informed Yuna and Yeji with what was happening.
"We should go to her match then." Yeji said.
"I have an upcoming match starting soon. I'll see you two around." Yuna said.
Chaeryeong sat down. She saw her previous opponent talking to her new opponent.
"So you're the one who beat my sister. Let's see how good you really are." The girls said.
Chaeryeong just smiles she played white for the first two games. Her first win was by using the Ruy Lopez Opening a4 as her first move. The second win was using the London System.
Her opponent requested for them to switch solors making her opponent White thus moving first.
She noticed her opponent go for e4 a common Ruy Lopez opening. If her opponent does continue with the Ruy Lopez opening she will counter it using the Marshall Attack.
As expected Chaeryeong seem to always predict her opponent. Another win for Chaeryeong. It seems like first or last to move she'll still win. Chaeryeong managed to secure her fourth win easily.
The last game Chaeryeong showcased her knowledge.
Taehyun and Yeji was still spectating.
"Sicilian Defense?" Yeji asked focusing on the chessboard why asking Taehyun.
"Not just Sicilian Defense. That the Najdorf Variation. It's one of the hardest ones to master." Taehyun said.
"Chaeryeong is great at predicting opponents moves." Taehyun added.
"She knows almost everything." Yeji said.
"She's perfect." Taehyun replied as he heard Yeji scoffed making Taehyun look at her.
"Do you like her?" Yeji had a playful smirk plastered on her face.
"Why do people always say that when I compliment her." Taehyun said in annoyance.
"I don't think you just say 'She's Perfect' to somone." Yeji mocked him. Taehyun just crossed his arms glaring at Yeji.
"Checkmate." Chaeryeong said.
5:0 Chaeryeong has officially accelerated.
At the end of the day one competition we saw her ranking boost to 2090 almost the same level as Yeji at 2250. We still have 2 more days for the tournament. They stayed at a hotel paid by their school. JYP Academy are leading in a lot of sports and activities. Climbing from unranked to top is rare but not unheard of in the campus. Taehyun was the same just two years ago he was unranked. He was accelerated as one of the top chess players internationally.
Second day nothing much happened for Chaeryeong but her rankings had spiked up to 2730 being accelerated further she was ranked 2nd just next to Taehyun their match will be on the third day.
Yeji and Yuna was eliminated on the the second day too but they were excited to watch the two compete. Taehyun had watched Chaeryeong's moves in every game and studied well how she played but still for him she was incredibly unpredictable.

Chaeryeong as white wins by using Ruy Lopez Opening.
Game Two
Taehyun as black wins by using Falkbeer Couner - Gambit to Chaeryeong's King's Gambit.
Game Three
Chaeryeong wins as white by using Sicilian Defense, Najdorf Variation.
Game Four
Taehyun wins as white by using Queen's Gambit.

Taehyun knew that even if he was winning Chaeryeong was manipulating the game. She will win and let him win.
"Why are you doing this?" Taehyun asked her before they start the last game.
"What's in the fun of winning always. It's fun this way. Since it's our last game I'll do it for real. This is the real game Taehyun." Chaeryeong smiles but Taehyun felt a bit intimidated.
Taehyun plays as white again. He used London System which he also have seen Chaeryeong play so possibly she already knows a lot about the opening. The two probably had the best match if you ask anyone who watched. It wasn't intense but the atmosphere was also quite serious. It felt like a friendly match at the end........
Taehyun won. He still had his title this is the first real victory. He knew it because of how Chaeryeong gets confused and frustrated with her moves but he will admit. 'Chaeryeong is cute when she's sulking or upset.'
"Congratulations to us!" Taehyun said the two stood up and hugged.
"JYP Academy are leading." Chaeryeong said.
"We should celebrate!" Yuna said.
"Congratulations Taehyun and Chaeryeong!" Their chess coach said.
"Chaeryeong will surely get that Most Improved Chess Player title." Yeji said.
"She really is the most improved." Taehyun said.
"Yieee!" They all teased.
"Stop it Chaeryeong might feel uncomfortable." Taehyun said.
"No! It's okay. I know they'rejust joking around." Chaeryeong giggled.
