Matt and I have been married for about 2 years now, and we have been dying for a baby.
We both absolutely adore the idea of having a baby, it just hasn't happened yet. I have tested a few times and it was positive once.
The pregnancy was going amazing, until it went downhill and we had a miscarriage.
We were absolutely devastated, but we never gave up. I had tested last week and it was negative, I could tell Matt was upset.
I was relaxing in Matt and I's bed while he was working in the office downstairs. I was scrolling through my phone when I realized I was a few days late for my period.
I paused and turned off my phone. I thought for a second and decided to not get my hopes up.
I sat up and climbed out of bed and walked downstairs. I walked into Matts office while he was typing on his computer.
"Hey, babe." He smiled while focusing his attention on me. "Hi, baby." I smiled back. "What's up?" Matt asked.
"Um, I'm a few days late for my period." I said. Matt perked up a bit. "Do you want to test again?" He asked softly.
I thought for a second then nodded. Matt smiled and got up from his chair and walked over to me.
He smiled and I took his hand and he got the car keys and we headed to the car.
We got to the store and I had to drag Matt past the baby clothes isle. "Babe, come on, look at how cute the clothes are!" Matt pleaded, trying to tug me towards the isle.
"Matthew!" I tugged him away. Matt sighed dramatically and we headed towards the isle we needed.
I grabbed a few tests just in case. Matt smiled and took my hand while we walked to the checkout.
I put the tests in front of the lady at the cashier and she smiled brightly at Matt and I while she scanned them.
Matt paid and I took the bag. "Good luck." The lady smiled at us while we started to walk away. "Thank you." Matt smiled back.
We got back home and I went upstairs to the bathroom and tested. I didn't look at the test and immediately put the cap back on.
I walked back downstairs and Matt was waiting for me in the kitchen. He had a nervous but excited expression on his face.
I set the test face down on the counter and turned to Matt.
I was really fucking nervous, and I knew Matt could tell. His facial expression softened as he looked at me.
"Hey." Matt said softly as his arms snaked around me. My arms did the same and he pulled me closer.
"Whatever it is, I love you so much." Matt spoke softly in my ear. "I love you so much." I smiled and kissed Matt's cheek.
We pulled away and Matt gently pressed his lips against mine, softly kissing me as I kissed him back.
We pulled away and Matt kissed my forehead. "Ready to check?" He asked, almost whispering. I nodded.
Matt and I turned towards the counter as his hand placed on my back.
I hesitantly picked up the test and turned it over, holding it close to my face.
Pregnant.
My eyes widened. "Oh my god." I gasped. I handed the test to Matt. He gasped as well and set the test on the counter.
"Oh my god!" He smiled, I turned to him and laughed. Matt wrapped his arms around me and lifted me off of the ground.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, and my legs around his waist and kissed him. "We're having a baby!" He smiled brightly at me as we pulled away.
I giggled and nodded and kissed his cheek. "We are!"
The pregnancy started off great, Matt did literally everything for me. He got me food when I needed it, and took super good care of me.
Tomorrow we were going to find out the gender of our baby, and we're having Matt's brothers and our parents over for it.
I was laying in bed while Matt was finishing cleaning up dinner.
He came up a few minutes later and smiled and came up the my side of the bed.
Matt kneeled down beside me and kissed my head before moving to my belly. He gently placed a few kisses on my belly.
"Hello, little baby." He said in a babyish tone. I giggled. "I bet you're gonna be as beautiful as your mom." Matt smiled, placing another kiss on my belly.
I giggled again. Matt kissed me.
The next day Matt set up dinner while I waited for everyone to arrive.
Nick and Chris were the first people to get here. Matt answered the door and immediately hugged them both.
"You're actually a dad, Matt!" Chris smiled as they all let each other go. "I know!"
Nick shoved Matt out of the way and walked over to me and hugged me. "Hi, Y/n! How are you?" Nick smiled.
"I'm amazing, thank you." I smiled back. "Oh my god, I'm so excited. I'm going to be the best uncle ever." Nicks expression lit up.
I laughed and Chris came over and hugged me. "You're going to be the best mom, Y/n." He smiled. "Thank you, Chris." I hugged him back.
Justin and Matt's parents arrived next, shortly followed behind my parents.
Everyone told Matt and I sweet things until it was time for the gender reveal.
We were all sat at the dinner table still and Matt handed me the paper. I took a breath before opening the paper.
Girl.
I smiled at Matt. "It's a girl!"
Matt immediately hugged me while everyone cheered. I kissed Matt and he smiled. "I love you." He whispered. "I love you." I giggled.
The rest of the pregnancy was amazing as well, until it came down to when my water broke.
Matt and I were getting ready for bed, I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth while Matt was fixing up our bed.
We had been preparing for me to go into labor for a week now, we had gotten a couple bags packed and the nursery all ready for our girl.
Matt walked into the bathroom as I just finished brushing my teeth and came up behind me. He placed his hands on my belly and I watched him through the mirror.
Matt rested his chin on my shoulder and I smiled. He gently placed a kiss on my neck, then my cheek.
"I can't wait to meet our girl." Matt said softly with a warm smile. "Me too." I giggled.
Matt left the bathroom a minute later and went into bed while I went to the bathroom.
As I was washing my hands there was a splash of water between my legs. I gasped and looked down.
"Oh my god." I whispered. I stared at myself in the mirror for a few seconds until I realized I actually needed to tell Matt.
I took a breath and spoke. "Matt?" I called. Matt quickly opened the door to the bathroom. "You okay, babe?" Matt asked.
I turned around and gestured towards the floor. Matts eyes widened. "Did your water just break?" He asked hopeful.
I nodded, a grin creeping across my lips. Matt smiled. "She's coming." I smiled.
"We need to call the hospital, baby." Matt laughed and ran into our bedroom and grabbed his phone and called the hospital.
I wiped up the floor and waited.
Matt and I got ready to head to the hospital, grabbing our final things and getting into the car. It felt unreal, we were actually gonna be parents.
We arrived at the hospital and I got situated. Matt stood close by me and never left my side.
Nick and Chris showed up an hour after we arrived at the hospital. Matt immediately got up and hugged them both, tightly.
They pulled away and Chris patted his back while Nick walked over to me. "You doing okay Y/n?" Nick asked softly.
"Yeah, just waiting. Insanely nervous." I sighed. Nick smiled and nodded.
My parents showed up 20 minutes later, then MaryLou and Jimmy.
Matt hugged everyone, and everyone said hello. We were all really nervous, but calm.
Everyone stepped out once I was getting closer to birth, Matt stayed though and held my hand.
He leant down and kissed my forehead then my lips. "I'm right here, squeeze my hand as much as you need, okay?" Matt said softly then kissed my head again.
"Okay." I whispered and kissed his lips again. "I love you so much, baby." Matt smiled. "I love you so much." I replied.
Time passed and our beautiful girl was finally here. They cleaned her up then handed her to me. Right as she was born, Matt started crying.
I turned to him right as they took her away and he was tearing up, but with a huge smile on his face. I laughed and cried and Matt leant down and kissed me.
"She's beautiful." Matt smiled and wiped away my tears. He leant up and I wiped his tears with a smile.
The nurses brought over our girl and she was placed in my arms. I smiled as I looked down at her.
She had Matt's beautiful, breathtaking blue eyes. "She has your eyes." I smiled up at Matt. Matt smiled brightly, I could tell he was incredibly happy right now.
I kissed her head then held onto her for a few more minutes then a nurse handed her to Matt. He teared up while holding her.
Matt gently rocked side to side and kissed her head with a smile.
Soon everyone else entered the room and held her and said hello.
Matt and I had decided on the name Bailey.
We brought her home a few days later, and Bailey has changed Matt and I's lives since.
