As soon as we got home Jess and Malti crashed, both having a quick nap before we went out later.
It been just over a week since Jess came into our lives and we couldnt be happier, and her and Malti literally complete eachother like I cannot picture what it wouldve been like having Malti as the oldest child and Jess without a younger sister.
I already know that Alena and Valentina are going to become best friends with Jess even if I'm sure it will be a bit awkward at first but I know that they will end up being really close
We were going to go drop Malti off at Pri's parents house at around 4:30 and go to pick up the pizza from there, luckily we were all already dressed to go iceskating so we could just chill in the meantime.
Pri and I were cuddling on the couch when Jess came down around 4:15, ready and joining us on the couch sitting next to Pri in whats become her corner of the couch.
"You excited for tonight?" Pri asked her as she got her book out
"Definitely, its probably better than just sitting down for dinner honestly like meeting kids when you dont have to entertain them is so much easier," Jess explained to us
oh she was right getting kids to play when theres nothing entertaining is hard I'm glad Malti is so easy and Jess is at the age where she can entertain herself.
"Oh yeah entertaining young children is hard," I said laughing
"But Alena and Valentina always figure out something to do so you will never be bored around them" Pri added
"Oh by the way Kevin and Danielle know about the no posting you on social media, even if they do they will block you out of the photo," I said quickly, realising that theres a good chance Jess is exposed to the world tonight.
"Oh ok thats good, hopefully the people there are cool and don't say stuff about me but if it gets out then it gets out i guess," Jess responded looking down
"And if it does we'll ask the fans to respect your privacy, most of them have been good with the kids so its gonna be fine" Pri told her smiling encouragingly

Soon enough it was time to leave and Nick quickly went to get Malti and her things on the way out.
I had made peace with the fact that there was a good chance I was going to be known of by morning, even with everything Pri and Nick told me even if I didnt want it to happen, it was going to eventually.
The drive to Pri's parents house was like 20mins and then we'd pick up pizza on the way to the ice rink which was probably another 10mins back this way.
I love long sunset drives most of the time, it always reminds me of my family back home and I love it, knowing wherever I am they are seeing the same thing, it's kind of like the moon in that way just with the sun and the sky.
(a/n ok real reason why I love sunsets so much is because it reminds me of my grandma but in this fic shes still alive so I cant say that but anyway back to the story)
Once we got to her parents house I stayed in the car, Pri had told me earlier that her parents knew I wasnt ready just yet so I didnt have to meet them when we dropped Malti off
It was nice but I felt bad that what I told her the other day is making everyone take it slow with me, and Im really not a patient person so sometimes I feel like we should just get it over and done with but I cant do that just in case
The hand off was pretty quick and soon enough we were at the park next to the ice rink where we were gonna all have the pizza we picked up.
I saw them before they saw me, Kevin and Danielle with two kids are easy to spot out in a crowd especially of people slightly staring or glancing over at them.
It took a moment before Kevin saw us, he waved as we all started walking, meeting in the middle, Alena walking excitedly in front of her parents and little sister, and Valentina doing the exact opposite and slighly hiding behind Danielle
Alena got here first going straight to Nick for a hug after definitely being told by Kevin that she needs to go slow, making me laugh.
"Hey Lena, ok so I want you to meet Jess," He put his arm around me to bring me closer into the conversation, "Jess this is Alena, Valentina come here! Tina this is Jess, Jess this is Valentina, ok now you all know eachother lets go eat" Nick laughed saying hi to Kevin and Danielle
I stuck with Pri for a bit, helping her with the picnic blanket and pizzas that were left. Alena stuck to my side like glue asking me questions
"So are you Uncle Nick and Auntie Priya's daughter now?" She asked me, sometimes I forgot that she was so young and probably didnt know how that stuff works
"Um yeah I guess so, at least for the moment, your parents explain how its different than like how your Kevin and Dani's daughter?" I responded unsure what I should say
"Kinda but not really it didnt make sense," she told me shaking her head
"So I have different parents but they died a long time ago so I was raised by my grandma and grandpa for a bit until they got old and had to be taken care of, then your Uncle Nick and Auntie Priya took me in and flew me here all the way from Australia," I tried to explain to her in a very child friendly way
"are we your only cousins then?" she asked smiling hopeful
"Well theres you and Valentina, and Willa and Delphine, but I do have cousins that I've never met before that don't know about me but I am happy to have the four of you as my cousins now," I answered unsure of the answer myself
(a/n I'm making Joe's and Sophie's 2nd daughter be called Astrid because we dont have an actual name for her but if they do ever announce it I might go back and change it to the real thing || future jess a/n, i'm going through fixing her name to Delphine but her nickname will be DJ :) )
my grandparents always told me that my dad did have a brother but he didnt live in the same state as us and they had lost contact around when I was born so I never met him or my cousins
But I knew that he had kids and a wife after trying to find out who he was when I was younger, around the time I was put into the system just in case he may want to know I exist.
I found his instagram and he looked happy but I got scared and never reached out, hey I was 12 I was young and scared of people that I didnt know.
Just like Valentina, honestly she is exactly like how I used to act when I was younger, hiding behind my family when they were talking to people I didnt know.
"why don't they know about you?" she asked me innocently
"I'm not sure but if they did I don't think I would be here right now meeting you so I wouldnt change it for anything," I smiled at her as we lay out the blanket and sat down
I was suddenly very aware that Pri was listening to that whole thing and there was a good chance that she didn't know about my uncle until that moment.

I looked up slowly and tried to scan her face for any sign that she heard what I was saying, there was nothing so she either didn't hear, she didn't care that I had a mystery uncle, or she already knew and it didnt faze her.

I cant believe that one innocent question sent me into a spiral
luckily we all started eating and Danielle started talking to me to get to know me so I was free of those questions for now.
It was almost 6 by the time we all finished eating and put everything back into the car before our session and went to hire our skates.
No one had come up to Nick, Kevin, or Pri yet luckily, probably realising it was a family get together and didnt want to intrude even if we were getting glanced at a lot by strangers.
as soon as we got onto the ice I was holding onto Nick for dear life, Pri holding his hand on the other side.
Nick could skate, like actually skate, he apparently went a lot as a hobby by himself, and then there's me who only goes like once maybe twice a year and never can skate at first.
after doing a slow lap with help I let go, ready to do it by myself. Alena and Valentina both had the little helper penguin stroller thingos so they wouldnt fall on the ice and get hurt, Kevin and Danielle right behind them just in case something went wrong.
I did like two laps by myself just getting used to the freedom of skating alone and to let myself breathe. It felt like home again when we would skate for as long as we could and laugh when we all inevitably fell down.
during the next lap I caught up with the parents who had formed a line behind the girls, "hey having fun?" Kevin asked me smiling
"Oh I love going skating, the feeling always stays the same no matter who you go with" I smiled happily
"You wanna do something fun?" I nodded in response, "Hey Valentina you wanna go around with me and Jess without the penguin?" Kevin asked his daughter speeding up to catch up with her
"Yeah!" She said in reply, slowing down so the rest of us could catch up
Nick sped up in front of us skating backwards to take a few photos of the three of us.
Valentina was actually really good at this for her age, like I dont think I could even rollerskate when I was 6 and here she is almost as good as me right now, and I made sure to tell her that too
After a lap just the three of us Alena took my other hand and we went around again a few times with Nick on the other side of her.
soon enough we were all in a line, going around the rink together and making everyone stare but I ignored them, this is everything I couldve ever wanted
we took a little break after bit longer to get water and a snack from one of the food trucks, I checked my phone quickly as we were about to go back out.
no notifications besides from Lucy, Evie and the rest of that group talking on their gc in the last few hours. I may have been ignoring that chat a lot but I didnt really care and I dont think they did either so it was fine.
But the time did say 7:00 already, our session ends at 7:30 and I was not ready for tonight to be over yet.
I decided to do a few more laps by myself just so I have my me time before the speed skating races that every rink does at the end of their sessions
I joined back with the others when we had around 10mins left, Danielle was standing outside the rink watching with a sleeping Valentina on her hip
I skated past her and waved smiling as she waved back and I started skating next to Nick for the last few minutes
Sadly the speed skating started too soon, Nick ofc stayed on to participate, same with Kevin being a competetive brother and stuff, but Alena, Pri, and I left the rink and took off our skates quickly, joining Danielle and Valentina on the side.
Nick ofc won easily against Kevin but they were both having a great time laughing at eachother almost falling because they were going so fast.
And then that was it, the night was over. Some other person won the race in general but Nick was definitely close to beating him (*caugh* not *caugh*)
We said our goodbyes soon after, hugging Kevin, then Danielle and sleeping Valentina, and then finally Alena who didnt want to leave.
I told Alena that I'd see her soon and that I had fun. That kid was like sunshine, making sure everyone was having a good time the whole time
As soon as we got home I said goodnight and went straight up to my room to relax after today, quickly posting a photo I got of the rink and the lights on my instagram story with the song wonderland by taylor swift playing in the background
I soon fell asleep smiling

also if u cant tell this is a my realistic opinion on what would happen if I was fostered/adopted by Nick and Priyanka and I felt like I needed to keep my grandma in it to hold on to so idk whats gonna happen with the grandparents story line like theres a good chance I will completely abandon it but besides that I think the rest of the family storylines wil stay the exact same throughout the entire fic
again idk how long this fic will last for considering i'm coming out of the time in my life where I needed it but I think it will last while I am still back on my Jonas hyper fixation so who knows how long thats gonna go for
but to me its impressive that this fic has gone on for so long and I am so happy u all are enjoying reading it as much as I'm enjoying writing it and ily all so much and thank u for helping me get out of this time in my life by using my childhood comfort people and not thinking its weird at all
