I turned my head toward the sound of the voice. It was Kevin. Hey Kev, I said smiling at my friend he hugs me, and I hugged him back and then pulled away. How are you? Kevin asked, I closed my locker and started to walk with him down the hallway. Ive been better honestly. Im happy I got my daughter back. I said, being honest and he smiled a bit. Yeah, shes so cute, Kevin said to me, and I smiled widely. When we turned the corner, I spotted one of the girls from my study hall class.
I let out a deep huff. Whats the matter? You got annoyed out of nowhere. Kevin asks, seeing the annoyed look on my face. That girl over there has been giving me a hard time like everyone else ever since I got here, I replied to him, motioning my head to the girl down the hall and Kevin met my gaze. Ugh, shes the worst. Her name is Melody Carson. Shes mean to everyone. Kevin scoffed as I then spotted Sadie coming through the double doors. Kevin and I saw her. Sadie! Kevin shouts her name catching her attention. Sadie looked at us and smiled and waved at us.
Kevin and I waved her over to us and she starts walking this way and past Melody and her group of stupid friends. Hey, Sadie. I smiled at her, and she started walking with us. Hey Brooke, hi Kevin. Sadie greeted us, we turned a corner and continued walking. I saw my sister and Betty talking to each other at Bettys locker. We were just talking about Brookes daughter and how cute she is, Kevin said to Sadie, and she looks at me. You have a kid? Sadie asked, I nodded my head at her. Yes, I do, her name is Odessa, I said to her as we walked. Aw, thats a cute name!

We all walked into class, Kevin and I go to the 3rd row and sit down. Sadie stays back and hangs for a bit. How old is Odessa? Sadie questioned, and I pulled out my phone and went to my photos to show her pictures of Odessa. My baby is a one-year-old, shes turning two in December, I said to her, showing Sadie and Kevin some pictures of her. Shes so cute, will I have a chance to meet her? Sadie asks, gushing over Odessas cuteness and I giggled at her. Of course, youll see her a lot of the time I promise, I reassured her, as the first bell rang. Shit, I have to get to class. Ill see you guys at lunch?

Sadie left the class as Mr. Greyson came in as soon as the second bell rang. He went straight to his desk putting his briefcase on the desk. Everyone take out your textbooks and start reading chapters 3 and 4 please.
Everyone took out their textbooks and did as told. Mr. Greyson has been letting us work on our projects for this class for the past couple of days. I have more time on mine since I missed a week of school. We usually start bell work with reading in the textbook for the first 15 minutes of class then we get working on them.

I was at my locker putting away some of the books that I was done using for the day whilst typing on my phone replying to Sweet pea and Noelle. I havent heard from Jasper or Mia, so I was texting them too. I am worried about them since I also wanted to know how Mia is doing on her road to recovery. I havent gotten any updates on Dakotas arrest so Im trying to get a hold of Josiah and Grant too to see if they know anything. As I have mentioned once before, Im more scared than relieved when Dakota has gone radio silent on me.
Even if hes in jail, he would find some way to torment me because thats just the kind of psycho he is. Im putting on a good face for everyone; however, on the inside, Im scared shitless. Something told me that this isnt over, he might be in jail, at least, for now. It doesnt take away the anxiety. Hell find someone to put his bail and the tormenting will continue. Im more worried about my daughter than I am about myself. I just want Odessa to be safe and happy. Its all I want for her. I sent the last text and I put my phone away now. Its the end of 3rd period, and class ended early so Im waiting for the bell to ring so I can go to lunch and eat.
"Hey, Brooke! A sweet voice said behind me, I closed my locker and turned around to see Sadie. I smiled at Bettys sister. Hey Sadie, whats up? I asked, starting to walk with her to lunch. The bell rang and a sea of students came walking into the hallway. Oh, you know, waiting to go to lunch and all. Sadie joked and I laughed at her sarcasm. Same. I giggled and so did she.
While we made a few turns here and there trying to get to the cafeteria without being trampled, someone bumped into Sadie purposely and I turned around walking backward. Hey, douchebag! Watch where youre going! I shouted at the guy who stopped walking and turned around to look at me. I also stopped walking and so did Sadie. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Sadie getting nervous. What was that bitch? The guy said and I raised my eyebrows at the word bitch. Im about to lose my shit if he calls me that one more time. I said, watch where youre going, I repeated myself, putting my hands on my hips.
He laughed. Sadie grabs my hand and starts to pull me away before I could go up to him to slap the boy. Brooke, it doesnt matter, Im fine. Come on, lets go. Sadie says, trying to get me away. But I let go of her, and I stood my ground. I shook my head disagreeing with her. No, he needs to apologize, I said sternly, and the guy laughed more.
"Im not doing shit; she shouldnt have been in the way. The guy scoffed, and I glared at him. No, you shouldve walked past her. I snapped, and his face went white as he returned the glare. Apologize to her right now or else, I warned, and he looked in between us. Or else what? The guy laughs and he tilts his head to the side. I go up to him then I slapped him across the face. He swallowed thickly as he finally turned to Sadie while she walks up to me and grabs my hand to pull me away again.
Im sorry. He apologized.
"Its fine, just dont do it again, Sadie said to him. I let Sadie drag me away from him then we went to the cafeteria. Thanks for that by the way, Sadie said to me, and I gave my friend a sweet smile. No problem, dont let anyone disrespect you ever again though, okay?
Sadie smiled back at me and nodded her head at me. I promise I wont let them.

We walked into the cafeteria. She let go of my hand to grab an empty tray and so do I. Sadie and I began walking down the line as the lunch ladies served us food. Has Cheryl bothered you since yesterday? I asked Sadie, while I grabbed myself some fruit and chicken nuggets. Nope, thanks to you she hasnt bothered me once yesterday. I think you mightve scared her. Sadie answered, I smiled evilly making Sadie giggle. Yay. I cheered, handing my lunch card to the lunch lady. She hands it back to me and Sadie and I went to walk outside.
Im glad, I dont like her sometimes. I told her, we walked out the double doors and then went to the courtyard. Sadie and I went to the empty table. I spotted my sister with her friends; she saw me and waved me over. I shook my head at her not wanting to go over there and motioned my head to Sadie to let her know that I had company. She just nods her head at me, and she goes back to her conversation. Sadie began to eat her lunch; I started to eat mine, it was silent for a few moments before one of us broke the silence.
"Youve heard whats happened to Mr. Andrews, right? Sadie asked. I nodded my head as I chewed. Yeah, the same day he was into brought to the hospital, AJ and I got the news when we got back to town, and we went straight to see him right away. I replied to Sadie, I ate some of my chicken. I felt my sisters friends staring at us, but I ignored them. Im so worried about him, I cant imagine how Archie and AJ must be feeling. Sadie said to me, and I took another bite of my chicken nuggets.

I grabbed my milk carton and opened it then took a sip. I noticed the scar on Sadies cheek that Cheryl made of yesterday. I tried to make it look like I wasnt looking at it. If you dont mind me asking, what happened to your cheek? You dont need to tell me if you dont want to. I asked, being gentle with the question as much as possible.
Sadie took a minute to answer. She sighed before speaking. I got into a car accident, and I got hurt in the process. Sadie said but trailed off and went silent for a few moments.
"This scar bothers me because no one looks at me the same anymore. Ive been stuck with Betty since the accident because my friends have treated me differently and I dont feel comfortable talking to people anymore. Sadie continued to say, she had a sad look in her eyes. I shook my head at that. Sadie, look at me. I said, and Sadie looked at me in the eye. Youre beautiful, okay? Just the way you are. Your friends arent really your friends if they treat you differently. Real friends dont do that.

I looked behind Sadie seeing Betty coming over. She was walking over with Veronica. I raised an eyebrow at our older sisters wondering what they were doing over here as they sat down next to us. Hey beautifuls. Betty greets us, and we look at Betty. Hi. Sadie and I said at the same time, smiling. What brings you guys over here? Sadie asks, looking in between our sisters. Well, we dont know if you guys know yet, but Pops is on the verge of closing because of what happened to Mr. Andrews. We were hoping that you guys would want to help us hold an event to save the diner.
"Ill happily help! I volunteered, which made Betty and Veronica happy. What about you, Sadie? You dont need to if you dont want to. Betty says to Sadie, Sadie looks at me then back at her sister.
Yeah, sure. Especially since Brooke is gonna be there.

Okay, so this is what we're gonna do.
