"Wasn't this dirty?"
Eugene looked at the man who already had a bulging cheek as he chewed the food on his mouth. He laughed and said,
"Isn't your question too late? Besides, it's not dirty."
"Then why is it cheap?"
"Because it's a streetfood."
Orange balls were quail eggs that were boiled then covered by orange flour. Then fry it in oil. After that, you can eat it but if you want to make it tastier you could dip it in sauce.
They finished the food first and threw the stick on the garbage bag that was hanging on the side. Then the two left that stall.
Riel handed a handkerchief over to Eugene, as he ate quite messy. Eugene felt embarrassed and immediately wiped away the sauce on the corner of his mouth.
"Your Highness, there is a river near here where you can rent a boat to ride together. It would be perfect at night."
De An whispered on the side. Riel look up at the sky which was already turning on an orange color. He thought for a moment then nodded his head, agreeing to what De An have said.
"Then I'll make an arrangement."
After that, De An left the two alone.
The two quietly walked beside each other. As the sky went red the number of people earlier became less and less. The road wasn't that crowded anymore.
They didn't know who would talk first as the two didn't know what to talk about.
Riel couldn't tolerate it anymore and spoke.
"Wanna ride a boat together?"
Eugene looked at the man beside him, his gaze was curious. Silently asking what he meant.
"There's a nearby river here, we can rent a boat to ride it."
He said the same thing what De An said but modified it a bit. Seeing the youth nodding his head, he told him to follow behind him.
Reaching the river, the two saw De An standing there like he had been waiting there for a long time. Behind him was a boat with two paddles on both sides and two chairs.
Riel boarded the boat first before helping Eugene. They sat at the chair, face to face.
The boat wasn't that big so the space between the chairs wasn't that big either, thus when the two sat down they were close to each other. The gap was just half a mans forwarded arm.
They row the boat together, the sun already set and lights of the lamps lit up one by one. Illuminating the dark. This was the first time Eugene saw the nightlife in ancient times, though it wasn't as bright as the modern it was still beautiful and could calm people's hearts. He had an amazed expression on his face.
Riel was also the same, first time experiencing the night life of people in the City as he before was always stuck inside a room. Didn't want to go out to interact with people.
But his amazement was just for a moment as he turned his gaze towards the youth on his front. The ligths was cast on the youth's face making the already good-looking face became warm.
He took his hands and clasped it both on his palm which took Eugene's attention back on him.
Riel took a breath and asked.
"Can you be mine now?"
The confrontation earlier made his heart feel anxious as he thought someone might steal him away.
Eugene stared at Riel. He suddenly felt he didn't deserve his love. How could this man be so sincere that he could do and give almost everything to him? He was always there by his side, accompanying him and making him happy. Reassure him that he was the only one. But, he was already here and he somehow wanted to slap his past self that rejected this man before.
He recalled the man's background setting, he didn't have the word 'love' his whole life until he died. He didn't even experience even a simple parent's love. So, if he were the one who could give it to him then,
"Yes."
He let out the word that wanted to come out from his mouth. Riel's lips weren't smiling but his eyes were telling him that this day, hour, minute or second, he was happy.
"I won't hurt you."
Hmm, I know but Eugene just nodded his head as a response.
After that night,the two could almost be seen together. They didn't even plan to hide it in public as Riel even dared to stick and cling to Eugene every time. Asking if he could hug him, hold his hand or something.
At this point, Eugene became the most hated person in the Empire, as for why?There were plenty of reasons, the most was because they couldn't become the Prince's woman anymore.
They look down on him because of him being a servant. Riel can't take it anymore as he made a solution himself.
"I'm fired?"
Eugene's face was filled with shock as he looked at Mirvana. But when Mirvana agreed and said yes to clarify it his mood turned gloomy as he smile and said.
"I understand but why?"
Mirvana felt sorry for the young man, she didn't know what happened. Earlier the Prince's butler told him to fire Eugene as a servant. Was the Prince tired of him? Didn't want him anymore? Or was it because of those rumors?
She even wanted to asked why but the butler just solemnly stared at her and she could only just said she understood before the butler went away.
She shook her head then told the truth.
"This was the order I received from his Highness, why don't you ask him?"
Riel? Eugene's eyes widened. He couldn't believe it. That man just said last night that he won't hurt him. What happened?
Eugene said his goodbye to Mirvana before he walked towards the Yen's palace. He won't believe that Riel didn't want him anymore as long as he didn't hear the other party's reason.
The other servants he passed by whispered to each other while looking at his back, because they also heard the news that the Prince fired him. Oh, how unlucky. You really thought his Highness would like someone like you?He was just playing with you.
Knock.Knock.
"Who?"
"It's me."
After he responded he heard a bang then hurried footsteps until the closed door opened.
"Eugene?"
Riel step aside and let him in before closing the door again.
"Was that true?"
Eugene didn't beat around the bush and quickly asked him.
"Ha?"
What was true?What is it?
"I'm talking about you firing me."
"Oh that."
Riel scratched his head then faked a cough, not daring to look at Eugene.
"I plan to give you a new position."
Eugene frowned.
"Position?"
The other hummed.
"What kind of position? What kind of job would I do if I took it?"
"Well you just ah live here with me, stay by my side, eat with me, spend your time with me, and love me too."
Is there such a thing? What kind of job was that?A butler?
"You're asking me to become your butler?"
"No!"
I wouldn't dare to let you be the same as that old man!
"Then what?"
"I'm asking you to become my wife!"
