IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 1 MONTH. Through that month Val and Oakley have gotten closer. They call each other, they text, they FaceTime. At first, he was the one who would always reach out but that changed. Lately they've move past of just talking over the phone.
Now each person sees the other as a normality in their routines. There is not a day that goes by where they haven't talked to each other. They have started to hang out more often too.
This new found friendship is foreign for the both them.
Valentina doesn't mind being single at all. She is confident in herself and knows what she wants. Her standards for a boyfriend are very high and she is dating to marry someone, not for a little sneaky link or fling. But her problem is when people get to too close to figuring her out she pushes them away.
She becomes critical and starts to say things she doesn't mean. At some point she would even ignore her own heart when it tells her she wants something. She hasn't found that person that isn't afraid to work and be patient with her enough to stay.
She doesn't know if Oakley can present himself wholeheartedly to her and be able to encourage her to reciprocate.
Oakley isn't even sure if he believes in love. He has experienced so much heartbreak that he doesn't think falling love is worth it. All of his relationships were painful and gut-wrenching to the point where it was just too hard to keep trying and failing to find the right person.
The problem with him is he wants someone who will love him the way he deserves to be loved. It's hard to find that one person who can put 100% everyday into taking care of his heart.
When he met Valentina she fucked up his mind, in a good way. All of his beliefs and perceptions of love seemed to be thrown out the window. She has changed this new definition of what love could look like for him.

VAL WAS SHOOK. Today she woke up to a bouquet of red roses sitting outside of her apartment. 'Congratulations Love' the note read.
She was flattered but also confused. Nobody has ever done something like this for her before. All of her exes slacked in the gifting department but she wasn't a materialistic person so she didn't care.
The butterflies in her stomach scared her. Flowers were a romantic and personal gesture to her. Questions popped up in her mind of what this could mean. He obviously wasn't shooting his shot because that would be more direct.
Oakley has done everything right so far in Valentina's eyes. He's patient, has a big heart, he goes for what he wants. He even has a nickname for her.
But this is how all bad relationships start. Their nice in the beginning but then they don't stick that way throughout the relationship. Val didn't want to get her hopes up.
This sweet gesture made Valentina feel some type of way. Her cheeks were hurting from smiling so much.
She picked up her phone from the counter.
