May 12th,
"Do you really think it's a good idea?" Javi asked Nova while they sat on her sofa.
"Why not?" Nova asked back as she finished wrapping the gift in front of her.
"Well the other day your mother wasn't so happy that I was there. And today is Mother's Day"
"And her birthday"
"What?"
"It's her birthday too"
"Oh, wow, uh maybe I shouldn't come then?"
"Oh come on Javi, it's gonna be a big family celebration, almost everyone brings a plus-one. Last time, she was just stressed because she invited that Daniel guy over, But he's definitely not coming today, so don't worry. And I want you to come with me, please"
He sighed, "Okay, sure. But we'll make a short stop on the way and I'll buy some flowers for her, okay?"
Nova grinned at him, "Sure" she whispered and slid closer to him.
Javi didn't think twice and put his arms around her waist. And just a few seconds later, their lips met for the second time. Even though Cinco de Mayo was only a week ago, they missed each other - but neither would admit it in front of the other.
But that didn't matter for either of them right now, the only important thing in this moment was their kiss. And Nova loved the way Javier kisses her. It felt so good and she never wanted it to stop.
And he thought the same thing, so he pulled her onto his lap and hugged her tightly as he kissed her harder. Nova gently put her hands in his hair and smirked into the kiss, "We're gonna be late" she told him.
He groaned, "I just wanna kiss you" he mumbled against her lips and pressed another kiss on her cheek.
"Okay five more minutes won't be bad" she replied and kissed him again.
He took her face in his hands again and gently stroked her cheek. His other hand then slowly slid down her back and he gently placed it on her ass.
Surprised, Nova broke the kiss and stared at him for a second.
"Shit I'm so sorry. I should have asked you," he said, removing his arms immediately from her body.
But she put her arms around his shoulders again, "No don't worry, it's okay. I just didn't expect it"
"So you don't mind?"
"No, I don't mind, actually I want you do to it" she replied with a grin.
So he put his hands back on her lower back and rested his head against her neck, „I'm still sorry"
"Javi please, it's okay. I like being with you"
"Yeah I thought so too, but you looked so shocked"
"Don't overthink it, you can touch me. I like it" she replied with a grin and only a second later his lips were on hers again.
And a few minutes later it turned into a heavy makeout scene, until her phone rang.
"Fuck, I guess we're late" she mumbled when she saw that her sister was calling her.
Nova carefully got off his lap and saw him fixing his pants while she picked up the call, "Yeah?"
"Hi Nova, where are you?" Adriana asked.
"Well, uh, I'm on way" she lied.
"And uhm, is Javi with you?" her sister asked.
"Yeah, but I told Ma and she said it's okay"
"I know, she just wanted to make sure, she wants to apologize"
"Really?" Nova asked surprised.
"Yes, so hurry up"

A few hours later Nova and Javier were sitting in her family's house. Her Ma apologized to him, told him she was glad his daughter was happy again and thanked him for the flowers.
And Nova was sitting across the room with her siblings, staring curiously over at her mother and Javi. She really wanted to know what they were talking about.
She stared at them intently for the next few minutes, until they both got up and came over to her.
"Nova, did you see what beautiful flowers Javi gave me?" her mother asked happily.
She let out a chuckle. Of course she saw them, because she chose them. Javier was really overwhelmed in the flower shop and didn't know which flowers to take.
"Yeah Ma" she replied.
"I have to get a vase quickly. And oh, Nova? Can I ask you a favor? Javi already knows about it. But I'm out of eggs and you know I need eggs to make the recipe right. You know it's your fathers favorite. Could you guys get some from the supermarket, please?"
Nova sighed but then stood up, "Of course"
And so Nova and Javier made their way to the supermarket and walked through the aisles to look for the eggs.
But when Nova stopped abruptly, he ran into her and then immediately grabbed her to keep her from falling.
"Nova?" he asked confused when he noticed that she didn't move and stared at other people in the aisle.
"Shit, I'm sorry" she murmured and immediately turned around.
"What's going on?"
"There's someone I really don't wanna see, let's just find the eggs quickly and then leave"
"Ah, sure" he replied, even more confused.
Nova grabbed his hand and pulled him into another aisle. And when they stood in front of the shelf with the eggs, neither let go of the other's hand. And so they were holding hands in the middle of the supermarket.
"Nova?" asked a voice that Javier didn't know. He turned around and saw a man about Nova's age standing in front of them.
"Oh, uh, hi Jake" she said and then looked over to Javi again.
"Can we talk for a moment? Alone?" the man asked.
"I'm sorry, I can't. And I don't want to" she told him.
"Nova, come on, you know I'm really sorry"
"I don't care Jake, I don't wanna see you anymore. And I thought you had a new girlfriend, so why are you bugging me now?" she asked back and Javi felt his jaw tense. He had already assumed that Nova knew that man a little better, but he didn't want to hear that it was her ex-boyfriend.
"Yeah, but she wasn't like you. I made a mistake, please let's just talk about it" he asked and Javi felt Nova's grip on his hand tighten.
And Jake apparently noticed that too, because his gaze lowered on their hands and he let out a sarcastic laugh.
"He's a little old for you Nova, don't you think?"
"Well you're a little too immature and childish for me, so leave me and my boyfriend alone" she replied annoyed and dragged Javi over to the cash register.
Nova was in a bad mood, and Javi recognized that immediately. He wasn't sure if he should say anything at all, but he was just too curious, "So, Im your boyfriend, huh?"
Nova immediately blushed, "I'm sorry, I figured he'd rather leave me alone then"
"It's okay" he replied, "You wanna talk about it?"
She shook her head, "Nope, he's an asshole and he cheated on me. And I don't care anymore. That's all" she replied.

The rest of the evening passed pretty quickly. The family ate together and even Nova's mother was happy that Javi was there. She also noticed how they secretly tried to hold hands under table, or how he put his hand on her thigh.
And in the evening they left the house and got in his car.
"Sooo, when's the next holiday?" he asked with a grin.
But Nova only looked at him. Does he really only wanna see her on holidays?
"Well, uh, I guess Fourth of July" she replied.
She got kinda sad she has to wait two months now to see him.
And especially since she didn't expect to see another woman at Javier's house in a few weeks.
