"It's Alex."
I said after a while.
"I figured." Brian gently pushed me a little bit and reached for the box of tissue and hand it to me.
I took a few, wiped my tears, and blew my nose.
"But what happened?" He asked bowing his head to meet my eyes.
"I saw her downstairs with Daniel, you know, the actor guy that she's... she's dating, I guess." I wanted to say, the guy who is her fuckbuddy but I stopped myself.
"And again here, next to your room. They came out together and... They are happy and laughing and I was..."
I started crying again.
"Shhhhh..." Brian trying to hush me.
"You're gonna be okay, Cara. I know you're gonna be okay." He said while I cry in his chest. He put his head on top of mine and had his arm on my shoulder and his hand rubbing my arm.
"Shhhhhh... You'll be okay." He kissed the top of my head trying to comfort me.
We stayed in that position for a while till I stop crying.
"Would you like to lie down and sleep?" Brian asked.
"Where would you sleep?"
"I'm not gonna sleep, I'm actually... starving. So you sleep here, I will go down and have something to eat."
I felt ashamed when I heard him say that he was starving, I must've taken much of his time.
I remember he asked me to go down with him after we settle in the room, he must've wanted to grab some food. Poor guy, he drove for hours and now I am using him as my shoulder to cry on.
"Come on." I stood up, took his hand, and try to pull him.
"What?" He asked confuse.
"Let's go down and eat."
"But I thought, you wanted to sleep."
"No, I didn't. You told me to sleep." I told him forcing a smile.
He smiled back and obeyed me. He held my hand tightly and pull me out of the room.
It was already 9 in the morning, and the restaurant in the hotel was full of people having breakfast.
I saw Lisa and Tom waving at me in the corner, I waved back and Lisa winked seeing I am with Brian.
I think half of the people here stopped and looked at us for 2 seconds before continuing with their food.
"Get used to it already." Brian leaned over to me and whispered in my ear. He still has my hand in him.
We were approaching the buffet table when I saw Alex and Daniel again. They were seated at the far end corner of the restaurant, which was a little bit close to the buffet table.
Daniel was whispering something in her ear while smiling, while Alex was also smiling but her eyes were fixated on me, then diverted to our hands. The smile on her face faded away and I swear I saw her jaw clenched for a second.
But at the same second, she moved her face closer to Daniel's till their cheeks were touching and she let out that alluring smile that I haven't seen before but with her eyes still on me.
It was like, she was seducing me or something but in a hurtful way.
Brian noticed where my eyes were and immediately get my attention.
"Stop staring." He whispered and squeezed my hand.
"What?"
"I said, stop staring."
"Ohh..."
"Come here, let's get you something to eat." Brian led me to the food and turned our backs from where Alex was sitting.
Brian just put whatever food he could get on my plate then after, he guided me to a table that was so far from Alex and Daniel that I couldn't even see them. We were literally at the corner of the restaurant where only a few people are sitting.
"Eat, Cara." Brian pushed my plate a little close to me.
I obeyed him and started eating with my head down.
"Hey! No frowning at the food, please."
I know he's trying to joke and lighten the mood but all I can think are Alex and Daniel and what could be the two doing right now.
They must be kissing and ignoring the people around them, then maybe after, they will go up to their room and do god knows what.
Thinking about that made my eyes teary and I can't help but sniffle.
"Ohh, Cara!" Brian stopped eating and held my hand that was on top of the table.
I lift my face to meet his eyes. Worries and sympathy are across them.
"I told you she doesn't feel the same way." I grumbled at him.
He let out a small smile.
"I don't believe it, Car. You know why?"
"Why?" I sniffle.
"Because she looks at you the way I look at you." His voice was sad but at the same time encouraging.
"When we're together..." He continues.
"I could see the jealousy in her eyes. She doesn't like it when my hands were on you or just even when we were standing close to each other."
I shook my head still not convinced.
"Listen, I don't know why she's doing this to you when clearly, she feels the same way..."
"I know." I interrupted him.
"Why then?"
"Well, she said, she's not gay or not even Bi so then, we cannot happen."
"That's bullshit!" He exclaimed.
"Brian!" A few people started to look our way hearing him raising his voice.
"I just... I don't get it!" He said frustrated.
I let out a soft laugh.
"Why does it bother you so much?" I asked him.
"Because..."
"Because?"
"I love you, Cara. You know that right?" He said sincerely.
I felt a little uncomfortable but I nodded.
"I love you, to the point that even if you rejected me, I still don't want to see you get hurt like this and cry like earlier. That, even if it wasn't me and it was Alex, I would still root for you to be happy."
I stared at him intently and weighed his words. But I don't doubt what he said, knowing Brian, he would definitely sacrifice his happiness if it means his loved ones would be happy. He is selfless and generous.
Why can't I have feelings for him again?
"I have an idea." He said after a while with a smirk on his face.
"Yeah?" My brows furrowed as his facial features changed from being upset to being mischievous.
And I was right, his smirk turned into a coy smile like he was planning something bad and I'm not sure if I want to be part of it.
"Brian?" I called his name as he just continue smiling and looking at me.
"You're being creepy, you know that? What are you thinking?" I asked him still my brows furrowed.
"I just thought of an idea how we will know for sure that she feels the same way about you."
"And... What is it?" I asked impatiently.
"Well, what if we make her jealous?" He said smiling like he just figured out to solve the world's mystery.
