"You fucking ungrateful shit!" The voice was loud and the face was full of fury. A hand gripped him painfully and he was thrown. He landed with a thud and scooted backwards, his chest heaving.
He was scared. What was Alexander Lucian going to do? The alpha was unpredictable and he hated Louis with a passion.
Then he was on him and Louis was kicking, screaming, trying to escape what the man was trying to do to him. Tears streaked his face and he was going to drop.
Bang!
Harry rushed inside his omega's room. He was thrashing. Kicking. Screaming. What made his chest ache the most were the tears that streaked his face.
His movements were hurried as he rid himself of his shoes and kneeled near the bed. "Louis. Pup," he said as he slowly shook the omega with one hand while combing his fingers through the omega's hair with the other. His hair was damp as sweat glistened on his skin. He shook the omega lightly, scenting the air around him. "Come back to your alpha, pup. Wake up for me," he coaxed the omega.
Louis's movements ceased before he jerked upwards, breathing heavily. Louis was trembling. Harry had never seen him in this state. Completely out of control. Beads of sweat ran down his face as he attempted to calm his racing heart. Louis was distressed.
He tentatively reached out and placed his calloused hand on Louis's arm. The warmth seeped into Louis who was still disoriented. He turned his head slowly to see Harry. He pulled his hand away. He scrambled away from the alpha's grasp. "Out! Leave!" He yelled. His voice was hoarse from his nightmare. His mind was racing and he was distressed. "I don't want you here," he whispered.
"Louis, I know you don't like me right now, but-"
"There are no 'buts.' Leave." Louis looked away. He refused to look at his alpha. Not after everything he had said. Not after he stabbed him in his chest. He hated that Harry was his alpha. He hated that he knew. He wanted nothing to do with him.
Harry's restraint was grave as he stood to his feet after a final attempt. He marched out of the room, the door banging shut loudly behind him. Louis's hands were trembling as he pulled the covers over him while he tried to regulate his breathing. He hated that Alexander still haunted him. He hated Alexander for what he did.
He curled in on himself as he placed his hand over his racing heart and rubbed at it to soothe the ache. Harry's words replayed in his mind. "I will never love you." He was naive for even entertaining the idea of it turning out any different.
He was not loveable. He knew that and he was going to be stuck in a loveless bond for the rest of his life. He would never feel cared for. He supposed he would get used to it. The familiarity of being unloved was known to him. There was a soft knock on his door before Liam walked in.
Liam moved closer and gently pulled the cover off Louis's trembling form. "Can I do anything for you?" The beta asked in a pained voice. Liam showed kindness, but he was loyal to Harry. He could not be trusted.
"I want to be alone," he whispered still looking away.
"As you wish," Liam said reluctantly before he was gone. Louis was cold. He was cold, and alone in an unfamiliar territory. At least in the Lucian pack, he knew where to hide. Maybe Harry would get a consort and he would be ignored. Maybe Harry already had a consort. He sobbed into his palm silently.
His heart ached. The hurt spread through him viciously. He had always been dealt a cruel set of cards. He had never truly known love. Maybe he never would. He did not know how much time passed, but he was being summoned to dinner. He locked the door and tried to find a place to hide.
He did not feel safe. His omega was distressed. His eyes darted around his room until it landed on his cupboard. It was big and spacious. With one blanket in hand, he settled himself inside and closed the door.
There were knocks on his door accompanied by Liam's voice, but he did not respond. Then there were harsher knocks. "If you do not come and eat, you might as well go hungry tonight." It was his alpha. Tears bubbled to the surface at the harsh tone Harry was using with him.

Liam had told him, Louis was not coming to dinner and so he called him. Louis did not respond. There was no noise heard in his room. "If he does not want to eat, he can starve," Harry growled as he turned on his heels and walked away.
He was angry with himself for what he had said to Louis. Louis would not even let him comfort him even when his body was trembling. He refused Liam too. Louis was withdrawing and it was his own fault. Harry skipped dinner. He could not in his right mind eat if Louis was not going to. He quite liked his omega, but he ruined his chance to impress him when he put his foot in his mouth.
Zayn entered his office. "You messed up. Li told me Louis was so distressed when he went, but refused help. You hurt an already hurt omega Harry. I hope you know that he will detach himself from his omega completely if you don't find a way to make him feel safe. An omega can only spend so much time in an alert state of mind. He has been alert since he presented. Do the math." He hated that Zayn was right. He did fuck up. He fucked up so badly.
"I am not used to it. I am not used to having an omega. I can't help it." His defense was weak to his own ears.
Zayn shot him a glare. "That is not an excuse and you know it. You are his alpha. Fix things before you destroy him. He was kind to the people today. I heard they quite liked that he walked through the pack the day after he arrived. You mess this up and I will be the least of your worries," Zayn reasoned. "I have to get back to Liam. Goodnight Harry." Zayn left the office and Harry threw his glass paperweight on the floor. It shattered into tiny pieces.
"Fuck." He bent down to clean his mess. He seemed to be good at that. Messing things up.

Louis fell asleep in his cupboard and when he woke up the next morning, his back was stiff. He stepped out of the cupboard. It was dawn. He cleaned himself up in the bathroom and wore some new clothes. He peered out of his window to assess the height before he slowly climbed out of his window.
He breathed in the fresh air and slowly crept around the house before moving towards the pack streets. Shops were just opening and the smell of fresh baked goods made his stomach growl.
People gave him tentative smiles and Louis returned them. "Would you like some bread? Me mom always bakes extra. Can even butter it for ya," a blonde omega beamed at him. Louis did not have the heart to refuse a younger omega. He never did.
"Okay. I'm Louis," he said.
"I know. We all do. Your pretty. No wonder alpha likes you." Louis cringed as he walked towards the bakery. Harry most definitely did not like him. "Sit down. I'll get you some bread. Me name's Niall," he said conversationally as he rushed behind the counter to get some bread.
"I will pay you, I promise. I did not expect to stop." Louis blushed softly.
Niall waved at him dismissively. "You're our luna. It's my honour." Louis forgot for a moment. The ache in his heart was back. If only his alpha liked him. He pushed the thought away as Niall brought him some buttered bread.
It tasted heavenly. He shut his eyes as he chewed on the bread. "This is amazing," he gushed once he was done. "You have to teach me how to bake." Harry was forgotten. He was ecstatic. Niall seemed pleased.
"You sure we won't get in any trouble?" Niall asked mischievously.
"Not in the slightest." He grinned.
Niall was all too excited to teach his luna how to bake as he accompanied Louis to the back. He was given an apron once he had rinsed his hands thoroughly.
Louis was determined to learn how to bake and find a friend in Niall while attempting to shove Harry out of his mind.
