The rising sun rays illuminated the pack house, casting a warm golden glow on everything in sight. The air was filled with a peaceful calmness that was unusual for a werewolf pack house.
Inside the house, the pack members had already risen and done their morning routines. Jimin and Jin were cooking while the others except for the head alpha were sitting in the living room.
"Hobi, I want you to check on some of our soldiers." Namjoon requested. It was necessary to keep a check on the health of the wolves.
"Ok, Namjoon." Hoseok nodded. "Bring them by evening" he added. Hoseok looked to his side to see Yoongi who was sipping on his third mug of coffee. He has noticed his mate's actions when he was nervous about something. And he is sure Yoongi didn't have a great sleep last night.
"Yoon, are you okay?" Hoseok asked concern etched on his face.
Yoongi looked up, startled by the sudden question. He quickly composed himself and forced a small smile. "Yeah, I'm fine," he replied, taking another sip of his coffee. But Hoseok was not convinced by his mate's answer. There is something Yoongi is nervous about.
The sudden echoing step caught their attention. As Jungkook walked inside the living room, all eyes were on him. Seems like the alpha also didn't have a great sleep. He was a little grumpy seeing by the frown on his face.
Jungkook sat opposite Yoongi who was in his thoughts. He could easily pick up the tension from the alpha. "Hm..did something happen?" He inquired.
"Nothing" Namjoon replied. "Except for Yoongi Hyung being a little lost," he added and glanced at his mate who was cooking in the kitchen. It was unusual that Namjoon felt Jin was a little weary and nervous. He can sense it from the mate bond.
"Can you all stop releasing this shit pheromone?!" Jimin yelled from the kitchen, fed up with the pheromones hitting right at his nose. Everyone froze in their place. He slammed the knife on the counter and glared at everyone.
"We are sorry, chim" Namjoon apologized. He knows it is not easy for Jimin as an omega to handle all the pheromones from the wolves here.
"There is a thing bothering you all" Jimin sighed, reading the faces of the members. "if you want you can share"
Just as Jimin finished speaking, a guard burst into the room, panting heavily. His eyes were wide with fear as he approached Jungkook, the head alpha.
"Alpha, we have a problem," the guard said, gasping for breath. "The rogue we captured last night has been killed."
Everyone in the room froze. This was not good news. Jungkook stood up with fierce eyes. Jin and Jimin moved to the living room hearing the news.
The news of the dead rogue hit the pack members like a ton of bricks. The fact that the rogue had been killed only added to their worry and anxiety.
Jin's face paled at the news. He had been the one who had locked the rogue up the night before, and he couldn't help but feel responsible for what had happened.
Yoongi's expression was also grim, and there was a palpable tension between him and Jungkook. It was no secret that the two alphas had been at odds lately, and this situation only added fuel to the fire.
"Who could have done this?" Namjoon asked, his voice low and menacing. Namjoon looked over at Jin who was shocked that he could feel the nervousness.
Jimin and Jhope glanced at Yoongi. They are damn sure that Yoongi won't do something like that but the words from the previous day make him suspicious.
"You aren't the one right?" Jimin asked slowly. All are aware that the question was intended for Yoongi. Yoongi sighed and looked at Jimin.
"If I were the one, then you wouldn't have seen his body, moreover we still have more to figure from him," Yoongi assured. Jimin nodded but still, he couldn't shake off his worry and thoughts.
"Jin and Jungkook are also behaving oddly. If any of you are the reason for the rogues' dead-" Namjoon was interrupted by Jungkook.
"Don't suspect each other. I know who's behind the rogue's death." Jungkook let out after a silence.
"What do you mean by that?" Jin asked. Members glanced at each other.
"Yesterday, I was warned by Taehyung about two people trying to attack me but I shrugged that since I don't believe him. In my view, the rogue might be one of them. In my view, the other person would be the culprit." Jungkook said.
The pack members exchanged glances, trying to piece together the information that Jungkook had just given them.
"Who is the other person?" Jimin asked, his voice laced with worry. He couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in his stomach.
"Taehyung said that the person is someone who knows every move of ours," Jungkook said, his voice low and serious.
The pack members sat in silence, absorbing the information. They were all in shock that someone within their pack could have been involved in the rogue's death.
"Who could it be?" Hoseok asked, his voice barely above a whisper. The tension in the room was palpable, and everyone was on edge.
"We will handle this ourselves without handing it over to others. If you suspect someone then we should inform each other." Namjoon said, his voice determined and everyone nodded in agreement.
The sound of steps gained the attention of everyone in the living room. They turned in that direction to see Ava walking down the stairs. As soon as she reached down she moved towards them.
"Hm...can I help you with the investigation?" Ava asked with hesitation.
"Were you eavesdropping on our talking?" Jimin asked angrily.
"Please don't misunderstand me. I was on my way to the living room when I heard that someone had killed the rogue. I stopped there and waited until your conversation was finished." Ava said with an apologetic look.
"That's what we say eavesdropping," Yoongi mumbled, clearly hating her unwanted presence.
"I do want to help you all with the investigation. My heart is aching after seeing him like that." Ava sounded sad.
"No...You can't. Investigation matters are only handed over to a trusted person and you are not the one." Jin said straightly without worrying about how she would feel.
"I know you all don't trust me a bit but please I would like to help-" Ava was cut off by Jungkook's voice.
"Don't make us repeat. You can't help us with the investigation."Jungkook replied sternly which made her gulp. He was in a rage and Ava didn't want to invite her death.
"ok alpha" She mumbled looking down.
Jungkook turned to Jin and Yoongi, "We will take a look at the rogue while Namjoon Hyung will have a word with the wolves on the border" With that said everyone dispersed to their works.
"Jimin, I am leaving for the infirmary" Hoseok informed. "Take care" He gave a chaste kiss on the omega's lips which brought a smile to his lips.
"You too take care" Jimin replied with a smile. After Hoseok left, Jimin was about to climb the stairs but was stopped by Ava.
"Jimin, one moment please" Jimin turned to Ava with a sullen face.
"What do you want?" he asked, having no interest in making a conversation with the omega.
Ava cleared her throat, "How is taehyung?" she enquired but it came out more eagerly. Jimin frowned at her concern towards taehyung.
"Why do you want to know?" He turned his body towards her in defense. "You don't even like him then why are you concerned for him?" Jimin questioned which shut her mouth.
"Just asking-" "Don't ever meddle in the matters of taehyung." Jimin strictly warned Ava who was shocked by the sudden warning. "Stay away" With that, Jimin climbed the stairs leaving a fuming Ava.
After the little fight with Ava, Jimin climbed the stairs with breakfast for tae. He unlocked the door and stepped inside only to meet with the omega who is sitting with his hand supporting the bed while his head was dropped down.
As tae didn't move an inch, it is sure that he didn't notice the presence of him. Jimin moved to the table and placed the plate. He then sat beside tae who was lost in his thoughts. It seemed as if he was disturbed.
"Taehyung, Are you alright?" Jimin shook the omega's shoulder gently. He was surprised that the other didn't even flinch.
"I am not" the fragile omega replied without glancing at Jimin. "and I can never be" he chuckled. Jimin was concerned about Tae's condition. Surely, tae will take up on all the mistakes in his head.
"Tae, it is not your fault. Some things are bound to happen. It is fate" Jimin reasoned trying to make him understand.
"Fate?" Jimin was caught off guard as tae glared at him. "Even fate doesn't show mercy to me" he saw tears welling up in Tae's eyes which made his heart clench.
"I lost my parents at a younger age, I became a rogue who was a target to everyone." His voice wavered as he was pressurizing not to break down. "Then I met my mate and he doesn't even want me" Sobs started to escape his lips. Jimin let tae open his sorrows. He needed some closure.
"Now, Here I am losing my life trying to protect my mate who doesn't even glance at me" He mumbled enough for Jimin to hear it. Tears cascaded through his cheeks.
"I stayed here just because you asked me to." Tae gazed right into Jimin's eyes and felt a pang in his chest. " Then Lycus showered me with love and affection only to be shattered within a month. I lost my connection with my wolf because of my mate and now mine and everyone's life is in danger just because Alpha didn't believe my words." Tae let out everything.
Jimin eyes were blurred. Tears accumulated in his eyes hearing Tae's suffering. He felt guilty for his actions.
"Tae I am sorry for my actions not only me but Jungkook was also guilty for not believing your words, he even allowed you to stay in this packhouse," Jimin said hoping that he would be happy to hear this but no, Tae was already fed up with his life.
Tae chuckled and wiped his tear-stained cheeks, "I am no longer excited about being with my mate or this place" Jimin sucked on his breath. "I don't want to stay in this pack for another minute"
Tae slowly stood up but he stumbled since his legs were weak from the injuries. Jimin hurriedly held tae by his arms.
"Tae, please don't... You are-" Jimin tried to coax him but tae shook his head. He removed Jimin's hands and smiled at him.
"I am not mad at you. You were the first person who accepted me, Jimin. I am forever grateful to you for caring for me." Tae caressed Jimin's cheeks. "Please don't stop me" he whispered.
Jimin couldn't help but shed tears. He was helpless about the situation. Tae limped toward the door. He glanced Jimin over the shoulder. He doesn't have the heart to look at the omega who he hurt. Without waiting anymore, he walked away.
Jimin fell on his knee, bawling his eyes out. He couldn't bare the pain of losing the only person who he cherished a lot. Tae was the only omega he was attached to and it created a bond between them. Now realizing that he was also one of the people who hurt him made him heartbroken.
"I am sorry tae, I am really..." he tightly shut his eyes. Jimin quickly wiped his tears because he didn't want to let tae go. He can't let his only friend in danger. Without thinking he ran out of the room to the living room.
Taehyung limped down the stairs to the living room. When he looked up, he saw the others except for Jungkook, who was looking at him. Hoseok ran inside the house after getting informed by Jimin that there is an emergency. He meekly smiled at them.
"Tae, Why did you come down?" Jin questioned, hurrying to him and holding his hands.
"I want to leave," Tae replied leaving everyone confused. In the meantime, Jimin sprinted down the stairs catching their attention. Hoseok went to Jimin who hugged him.
Jin turned to Tae, "What do you mean by leave?" He sternly enquired.
"I just... I don't want to stay here anymore." He answered with his head down. Everyone gasped except for Jimin who wept in Hoseok's arms.
"What are you even saying?" Yoongi wondered stepping forward. "You are our Luna. Now you are in danger and we should protect you" He reasoned.
Tae shook his head, "I am not your Luna." He screamed. "Just accept that! I have already accepted it. Just leave me" He begged at them. Everyone knew what was tae going through that they can't blame him for behaving like this.
"I have to leave" Tae is determined to leave here. "It is not for me, it is you for you all. Please don't make it hard for me" he pleaded and removed Jin's hands from his. He looked at Jimin who was still crying.
Taehyung looked at everyone but he couldn't see someone he wanted to meet. His heart was yearning to have a glimpse of his mate before leaving. It seems like he didn't even know about this. With a sigh, he walked to the entrance with a heavy heart.
"Tae... Please don't" Jimin begged but tae didn't even listen to him.
As Tae stepped out of the pack house, a tear rolled down his cheek following a sob. "Thank you for caring about me" he whispered. "I would never forget you all"
Taehyung wiped his tear and stepped forward to leave when he halted in his steps. His brows crossed when he sensed a soft hand grabbing his wrist, stopping him from moving forward. He knew it was Jimin.
"Jimin" Tae turned around only for his eyes to go wide. His lips parted in surprise that no words came out.
"stay with me"
