Kya aap dosti karenge mujhse?" She asked him while forwarding her hand. He looked toward her for some time thinking that how someone was this much of mature. He was very impressed with her talks. He smile and put his hand on her. They felt something strange something like they know each other from so long. They felt their touch very familiar but shrugged their thought.
"Haan Bondita main jarur karunga tumse dosti" he said smilingly.
"Matlab aaj se hum dono dost?" She asked him.
"Sabse pakke wale dost jo kabhi bhi ek dusre se kuchh bhi nahi chhupayega" he said.
"Hum kabhi bhi kisi se kuchh nahi chhupaayenge chahe sukh ho ya chahe dukh hi kyu na ho hum milkar samna karenge haina?" She said.
"Haan Bondita" Anirudh said with a smile.
Barrister Babu Aapke paas koi tasveer hai Saudamini ji ki" she asked him.
"Haan hai" he said.
"Kya main dekh sakti hoon?" Bondita asked.
"Haan kyu nahi" he said. And took out Saudamini's photo from the side drawer and give it to Bondita. She saw that photo and smiled.
"Ye to bahut hi sundar hai, bilkul pari jaisi, kitni pyari lag rahi hai inse kisko bhi pyar hojaayega" Bondita said with a smile.
"Haina? Tumhe bhi achchhi lagi? Anirudh asked her.
"Haan ye to kitni pyari hai, aur mera dil kahta ki ye jitni surat se sundar haina utni hi dil se bhi sundar hogi" she said.
"Par pataa nahi kyu maa ko kabhi mini pasand hi nahi aai" he said.
"Har insan ek jaisa nahi hota, her insan ki pasand - napasand alag -alag hoti hai maa ji ko bhi kuchh aur pasand hoga" she said.
"Haan ye bhi hai" he said.
"Ek baat puchhu?" she asked him.
"Haan puchho na" he said.
"Aapki maa ke saath kya hua tha" she asked. A tear rolled on his cheek as he recalled the incident happened with his mother that day.
"Us din jo hua wo bahut hi bhayankar (horrible) tha, wo raat bahut hi kaali thi, us raat ne ek pati se uski patni, ek bhai se uski bahen aur teen bachcho se unki maa chhin li... chali gayi wo hume chhod ke... us din jab maa mandir se wapas ghar aai........" he started narrating.
FLASHBACK....
yaad hai kopal kya kahta tha " vivaah karunga to sirf baani se karunga aur kisi se nahi" said Shubhra maa while mimicking Anirudh. And they laughed.
"Tab main bachcha tha maa, samajh nahi thi mujhme itni" said Anirudh. All laughed.
"Mera ho gaya maa main chalta hoon"
Said Anirudh. "Hamara bhi ho gaya" said Trilochan kaka and everyone start leaving for their respective work. Suddenly Shubhra maa saw that a jhumar which was about to fall on Som.
"Sommmm" shouted Shubhra maa and ran toward Som and she pushed him aside. The jhumar fall on her blood start oozing from her whole body.
Everyone saw this and got shocked.
"Maaa/ Shubhraaaa/ Shubhra behannnnn" they shouted and ran toward her. Anirudh and Binoy with a great difficulty remove the jhumar from her. With the trembling hand Anirudh hold her head and placed on his lap.
"Maa" Anirudh voice muffled.
"Ko... kop....kopal" she said with a great difficulty.
"Shubhra ye kya kiya" Binoy said. He is highly shocked.
"Ko.. kopal meri baat sun.... mere... mere paas samay nah... nahi hai.." she started but Anirudh interrupt her.
"Maa ye... ye aa.. aap k.. kya keh rahi hai ku.. kuchh nahi hoga aapko... hum.. hum abhi hospital jaayenge aap bil... bilkul thik ho jaaengi aap... aap bas..... " he said but she interrupted him.
"Kopal... me... mere paa... paas jya.... jyada sam... samay nahi hai mai... main jaanti hoon ab... ab mere jaa.. jaane ka sam... samay aa gaya ha.. hai... bas jaane se pa... pahle tujhse kuchh mangna chahti hoon..... tu vivah kar le meri sahe... saheli li beti se kopal" she said. Anirudh got shocked that how his mother said that. She already know that he loves Saudamini but here she said him to marry someone else how could he do that.
"Maa ye aap kya keh rahi hai main kisi aur se vivah kaise kar sakta hoon main to mini se pyar karta hoon main kisi aur se vivah nahi kar sakta" he said.
"Ko... kopal me... meri baat maan jaa beta wo... wo ba... bahut ach... achchhi ladki hai wo bil... bilkul waisi hi hai jai... jaisi mujhe chahiye th.. thi. Wo Som aur Batuk ka bahut achchhe se kh.. khayal rakhegi" she said breathing heavily.
"Main aisa nahi kar sakta maa" Anirudh said.
"Ko.. kopal meri baat maan ja beta, kopal ke baba aap hi samjhaaiye na ise.. me.. mere paas jyada sam... samay nahi hai.. aa... aap ka.. kahiye na aap kopal ka vivah usi se karaayenge na aa.. aap kah... kahiye na" she said breathing heavily holding Binoy's hand
"Ha... haan Shubhra tum jaisa kahogi bilkul waisa hi hoga bas ye bataa do ki ky... kya naam hai us ladki ka" he said.
"BON... BONDITA" she said.
"Bon... Bondita wo?" He asked.
"Haan wahi aa... aap wa... wada kijiye mujhse ki aa... aap kopal ka vivah usi se karaayenge... wada kijiye mujhse" she said. Binoy nodded his head holding her hand"
"Kopal tu vivah karega na Bondita se?" She asked.
"Maa main nahi... please" Anirudh said.
"Anirudh tujhe meri kasam, meri aakhiri ichchha puri karega na tu kopal bol na kopal ap... apni maa ki ye aa... aakhiri ichchha puri karega na?" She asked him. Her breathing gets heavier with each passing second.
"Haan! Haan! Main karunga vivah usse vivah pa... par sirf aa.. aapke liye" he said helplessly. She smile and a tear rolled over her cheek.
"Ab mu... mujhe ko... koi chi.. chin... chinta nahi hai.... main jo kar rahi hoon teri khushi ke liye kar rahi hoon ek di... din tu khu... khud kahega ki te... teri maa ne jo... ki.. kiya achchha kiya... hamesha khu... khush rahna beta" she said breathing heavily and kissed his forehead.
"Som apna aur sabka khayal rakhna apne dada ki har baat manana... rakh.. rakhega na sabka khayal?" She asked Som nodded with tear filled eyes she smile and placed a kiss on Som's forehead then on batuk forehead. She smile looking towards everyone and closed her eyes taking her last breath.
"Maaaa! Shubhra! Shubhra behan!" Everyone screamed and cried harder.
.....FLASHBACK END
"Maa ke saath saath is ghar ki khushiya bhi chali gayi" Anirudh said with tears rolled on his cheek. Bondita was also crying silently.
"Aap chinta mat kijiye ab main aa gayi hoon na ab sab thik ho jaayega... main sab thik kar dungi" she said wiping her tear.
"Ab... ye sab chhodo bahut raat ho gayi hai hume so jaana chahiye... tum yahaa bistar (bed) par so jaao main wahaa couch par so jaaunga" he said wiping his tear.
"Nahi nahi aap yahaa bistar par so jaayiye main couch par so jaaungi" she said got down from the bed.
"Bondita tum so jaao bistar par"
"Nahi aap so jaaiye"
"Bondita maine kaha na tum..."
"Achchha ek kaam karte hai hum dono hi bistar par so jaate hai" she said interrupting him.
"Ek hi bistar par kaise ho sakte hai Bondita" he asked. Bondita went to couch and took all the pillows placed there and came to bed place the pillows between the making a vertical line separating the side of bed.
"Aise, aap takiye (pillow) ke us taraf so jaayiye aur main is taraf ab to thik hai na" she said. He nodded smilingly.
"Aap so jaayiye main kapde badal kar aati hoon" she said and he nodded. She went into washroom and he laid on the bed.
"Bondita lock the door of the washroom. She turn on the shower and sat under the shower and start crying harder.
