Me and benny woke up the next morning and got dressed, nd walked to the new kids house. When we got there he was sitting on his porch, but he had a black eye..?
"Hey" I said
"Listen, we are gonna go play some ball nd we need a extra guy" benny said "you wanna come?"
"No, but thanks" he said
"What....?" I said
"Why not don't you like baseball" benny said
"Yeah..But.." he said
"but what" benny asked him
he then got up and showed us his mitt
"But my glove, i-its busted, so you see, I can't go" he said "Thanks tho"
"Its ok" benny says, grabbing another mitt from his back pocket "I got a extra one"
Benny throw the mitt to him, who caught it
"Come on, lets go" I smiled
he then opened his front and yelled "Mom, im going to go play some ball!"
"come on!" benny said
The kid told us name on the way to Vincents drug store. his name was Scott smalls or scotty smalls, or whatever. we then got to the drugstore and went behind it to meet the rest of the sandlot playing a game.

ham then takes the stick out his mouth then says ''im the great bambino"

"the fuck.." I mumbled to my self i say putting my hand on my fore head looking the other way while benny just also looked the other way in embarrassment
everyone turned their heads to look at smalls in disbelief

"Anyways, Scott that's Timmy and Tommy Timmons" benny said as the two boys spit on the ground

"Thats really gross.." I said "umm anyways guys this is scotty smalls"
"Hi" smalls waved at everyone shyly
squints then spit on the ground again as me and benny looked at each other in disgust
"Yeah, well umm, he's gonna play some ball with us, cause he makes ten, so now we have a whole team" benny explains "were wasting time, come on, lets go to the sandlot."
"Its 9 o'clock !"
"benny is 9!"

we were all walking to the sand lot till Bertram spoke up
"why'd you bring him sel and benny?" he asked then everyone started to crowed us wanting the answer
"cause there is only nine of us nd he makes ten, literally what other reason?" I said with a attitude in my voice
"mhm, Yeah yeah so would my sister, but I didn't bring her!" yeah-yeah says
"Well he can play left center so its a full team!" benny said
"Well with elswenger, we had a full team" ham said "elswenger could catch"
"And throw" Bertram adds in
"Come on sel, he aint game, you saw the way he threw!'' kenny said
"right, come on benny man! you and Selena fill up all the empty positions since elswenger moved to Arizona!" Timmy says
"Right to me and sel get to rotate 8 positions instead of 7!" benny says "I need the practice but I don't know about Selena" he shrugged
"But your both the best on the team!" hams says "you guys don't need any practice"
"yeah you two are the best!" kenny says
"come on guys, the kids a L-7 weenieeeee!" squints said while making a a box shape with the shape of a L with both of his hands
"yeah-yeah,oscar Mayer even, foot long! dodger dog!! a weeine!" yeah yeah shouted over towards smalls
"What are you laughing at yeah-yeah, you run like a duck!" benny said
the whole team laughed at what benny said.
"damn yeah-yeah, you finna take that?!" I asked while giggling
"kk but im-" yeah yeah sayd
"part of the game right!?" benny asks
"well.. yeah!" yeah-yeah says
"Then how come he don't get to be?" benny asks pointing at scotty
"because he's a geek man! he can't catch" kenny says
benny then groans "man base up you blockheads"
everyone the sighs and goes to their positions on the feild
"smalls you take left center ok?" benny told smalls
"ok, uhm where is that exactly?" he asks
"its over there" I said pointing at left center
scotty then ran to left "HERE?" scotty asked
"ummm..." I mumbled
"no that's left she said left center!" benny says
scotty then ran to left center
"Here!?" he asks again
I then gave him a thumbs up and walked away
"Mendoza, you wanna bat with me?" benny asks
"yeah sure!" I say
"Yeah-yeah, get two!'' benny shouts, he then threw the ball up and hit it towards him
the balls gets thrown to second and then to kenny
"nice" kenny says as he threw the ball back to benny
"hey smalls, throw it to second!" benny says
"OK!" he shouts back loudly
then benny hit the ball to him. Scotty then tries to catch it but ends up failing and falling on the ground
"We told you both, we told you" ham says
"come on benny man, why'd you do that!" kenny says
"a square sel, the kids a square" squints says
scotty then got the ball but just stood there
''the hell..'' I mumbled to benny
he then just looked down and ran towards kenny and placed the ball in his mitt as we all just stood there confused.
"sorry, sorry" scotty apologized as he ran back to his position
kenny looked down at the ball in his mitt then looked at me and benny. me and benny then locked eyes with each other then started to jog towards scotty
when we got to scotty we just stood there not knowing what to say until benny book the silence.
''you can throw it? ya know?" he asks
''no, I don't know how'' scotty replies "thanks for bringing me here but I should go.''
I still just stood there looking dumb as hell cause what the freaky deaky...
just as scotty was about to leave benny stopped him
"hey, hey, you think to much. you probally get straight A's n shit huh?" he asks
"no I got a B once, well it was a A minus but it should've been a B" he says
I then finally broke and said " look this is baseball you gotta stop thinking!"
"yeah! I mean.. if you were having fun you would've caught that ball right there'' benny said
but scotty still didn't understand
"ok, have you ever had a paper route?" benny asks
"No, but I've helped a guy once" scotty says
"ok well chuck it like you would throw it" he says as he shows him a example of him doing it " and when you arm gets here just let go. its that easy"
me and benny just start to walk away until he spoke up again
"how do I catch it?" he asks
"just stand there, nd stick your glove out in the air, and I will take care of et" I said then we started walking away
"selena, not gonna lie he is slow" benny admits
" fax" I said
"About time, my clothes are going out of style!" squints shouts
"they are squints!" I shout

when we got to home plate I picked up the bat, then benny got the ball from ham and spit on it
"ew, gross" I say scrunching my nose
"just take the ball" he said while handing me the ball
"whatever you say Rodriguez " I say as I took it from him
"SMALLS, SEOND!" I shouted
"OK!" he said back
I then threw the ball up and hit it to smalls. he then lifted his glove up wit his eyes shut then the ball went into his glove
"Yes!" I smiled
"yeah!" benny said
"he's alright " squints says
"told you so man!" benny says to ham
Scotty then throws the ball to second and Bertram caught. Bertram then looked at the ball in his hand shocked
"Alright! Lets play some ball!" Bertram said
Bertram threw the ball to kenny as the rest of the team accepted that scotty could play with us
"Yeah I knew it....all the time.." kenny shrugged as he threw the ball to ham
Benny and smalls gave each other a thumbs up
I then smiled at what they were doing, then benny turned around and looked at me and gave me a quick smile as I smiled back

After we played ball, we all started to make our way back home dropping everyone off one by one
"Bye ham!" I say
"8 o'clock tomorrow" benny reminds
he was about to walk into his house until he turned around to say something
"Benny, wait! you glove!" he calls out
"keep it man" benny says

I then stop in my tracks and run towards scotty as benny shortly followed my steps
"Um scotty make sure you wear a T-shirt nd some jean tomorrow ight?" I say
"Oh yeah, yeah sure" he replies back
"oh yeah, you got a fire place?" benny asks
"yeah?" scotty asks "why?"
Benny then lightly flicks the hat that scotty was wearing. "throw that hat in there man
"Oh yeah, you know it was the only hat that I had so..." he trailed off
"Well, not anymore" benny say as he pulls his old had out his back pocket "just wear my old hat"
"why do you have so much stuff in your pocket Benjamin" I laughed
benny chuckles
"8 o'clock tomorrow" benny says to scotty
"Thanks benny 8 o'clock! great!" he says as he walked away
we then started walking towards my house then saw my parents packing the car up
"shit." I mumble
"What?'' benny asks
"I forgot my parents are going to Florida" I say "remember?"

we then began to walk closer to my house then my dad decides to speak up
"Hey benny how's it goin?" my dad asks
"im good, mr Mendoza" benny says
Me and benny then walk to the porch of my house
