"𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐨?" your dad asked, turning around with a small smile.
"Ready than ever..." You knew you were lying, being new to the small town of Nockfell increased your desire to hide away forever. Just the thought of having to meet new people and not knowing what to expect gnawed at your confidence. Despite all the nerves, you tried your best to sound excited. You knew your father was worried about you, considering you never had a mother figure around made him worry about your wellbeing more often than not.
"Want to stop by the gas station? We can get a treat, your choice!" Turning around to face you with the voice of happiness, your father asked you the question. You couldn't help but smile, he always put you first. Nodding your head, you continued looking out the window, listening to your favorite songs.
~ Arriving At Addison Apartments ~
"We're here!"
You looked up, observing the gloomy looking building. A sweat drop appeared on your face, 'Damn, this place looks...raggedy.' Putting on a hopeful smile, you faced your dad. "Our new home, huh?" You saw your dads' eyes soften as he listened to you talk.
"Mhm..sorry it's not the best." He put his hand on your head, giving you a little pat.
"Don't be sorry, as long we have together, we can concur anything!" With motivation in your voice, you proudly told your dad what you thought. You could see small tears in his eyes and you felt your blood rush cold...you knew exactly what was coming next. You didn't even have a moment before your dad lifted you in the air in a tight hug.
"Y/nnnn! What would I do without you?!" You couldn't feel yourself breath as he hugged you.
"Dad....n-need..to..breath-" you spoke, trying to catch your breath. Letting you go, your dad apologized profusely. You laughed and told him it was alright.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's start unloading!"

Unloading and unpacking took a few hours, but you and your dad were alright. He played some music inside the apartment while you both got settled in. As you were putting up the picture frames, a knock on the door caught your attention. Opening it, you were met with a blue haired...girl, or boy? You didn't know at the time. "Oh, hey there. Is there something I could help you with?" you ask politely.
"Hey, I'm Sal Fisher but some call me Sally Face. I saw you moving in and I wanted to introduce myself. I live just next door with my dad." You smiled, you had a good feeling about this kid.
"It's nice to meet you Sal. I'm y/n, I also live here with my dad. I still have unpacking to do but I would enjoy getting to know you more, if you'd like that?" You were nervous, new people made you have shivers. 'God, I hope he doesn't think I'm a creep. What if he thinks I'm weird? I hate socializing.'
"Sure! I'll see you later y/n, good luck unpacking!" Just as he arrived, Sal left. You closed the door and let out a breath, maybe he could be a new friend? You shook your head before going back to putting up photos, helping out your dad once you were finish.
~ The Next Day ~
You decided to explore the building as well as try to find Sal to get to know them better. Before you left, your dad made sure you had everything you needed for being out of the apartment for longer than an hour. He prepared snacks and drinks in a small backpack as well as a medic kit and a "womanly sanitary container."
"Be back before sundown, k? I'll be making something special for dinner." He kissed your forehead before waving you a temporary goodbye.
"Alright." Closing the door, you observed your surroundings. The hallway had a small hint of mold and peeling wallpaper, but it was tolerable. Making your way to the elevator, you checked out each floor, trying your best to spot blue hair. 'Where is this kid?'
As you were walking you felt a hand on your shoulder. You screamed and swung your hand around to wack whoever had touched you. "OW! FUCK!" Finally seeing who was behind you, you ended up finding the blue haired kid and another boy he was with. He had a nice length of brown hair and was wearing a Sanity Falls shirt.
"I'm so sorry! Hold on, let me just-" You quickly opened your bag to get the medic kit. You helped the boy stop the bleeding from his nose and apologized nonstop. He laughed lightheartedly and told you it was fine.
"Your good dude, man though, you can really pack a punch! I'm guessing you're y/n? We were looking for you...well, at least he was." Looking up to where he was pointing, you spotted Sal.
"Glad I finally found you! I went to your apartment but your dad said you were already gone. This is Larry, I thought it would be cool if we all hung out, if that's alright with you?"
"Of course! The more the merrier, I was just looking around as well. As a matter of fact, I was actually looking for you to," you said with a small laugh.
"Really? I guess it all worked out then. We were going to head to Todd's apartment after we found you, you don't mind if he joins us right?" Sal asked, wanting to make sure you were comfortable with meeting more people.
"Not at all, let's go!" With a voice of fake confidence, you follow the two boys. 'Ughhhhhhh, more people? I'm gonna need snacks and a good show to recharge after this...'
~ At Todd's Apartment ~
You were surprisingly having a good time hanging out with these boys. Being particular with the type of people you hang out with, you easily connected with them. They were funny, laid back, and just overall nice guys. When one talked, they didn't forget to include everyone else. You guys ate snacks, watched some shows, laughed at each other's dumbass choices, it really was a fun time. You commented on how cool the guys were and how it's nice to be around them. This caused them to talk about their other friends. One name stood out to you however, Ashley.
They talked highly of her and described her as a really nice gal. You were intrigued, she sounded like a sweetheart. "Do you guys think I could meet everyone else? If you don't mind," you asked.
"Hell yeah! They'll definitely love you. We'll just have to wait till school rolls around again," Larry said with a laugh, holding a thumbs up. Todd and Sal agreed, they really were reassuring. You checked the time and realized you should start heading to your dad soon.
"Aw shit, I gotta go, don't want to be late to dinner. Thanks for having me over Todd! I'll see you guys later." Everyone wished you a good night and you headed back to the apartment. When you opened the door, you heard the TV playing, saw the lights turned off, and heard the sound of sniffling. You saw your dad sitting on the couch holding a pillow close.
"Dad?"
"Y/n?" He looked at you with small tears in his eyes. You laughed lightheartedly.
"What movie was it this time?"
"The Princess and The Frog...Ray didn't deserve to die! At least he's with Evangaline." You pat your dad on the back.
"Goodness, you need a moment?"
"I'm good. Would you like dinner though? I made you all your favorites, I know the move was hard and stressful on you so I thought it would help to put you at ease." You wrap your arms around him, he never failed to make you feel loved.
"Thanks dad...you're the best."
"No, you're the best y/n. I love you very much," he hugs you back, holding you close with a smile. "Now, go and eat! I need my child to be healthy and full so I can't have you missing a meal!" Your dad gently pushed you to the kitchen, you smiled before rolling your eyes jokingly.

It felt to soon, the first day at your new school. You stood at the door, your dad taking multiple pictures of you with his camera. After he finished, he made sure you had everything for the school day. He had packed you everything you could ever need, in fact he packed more than what you needed. "Dad, I don't need another pencil sharpener, you already packed me three!"
"I did? But do you have-"
"I'm going to be late for the bus if we keep putting stuff in my bag!"
"Oh, sorry about that. Have a good day y/n! I love you!"
"Love you too dad." You waved to him as you made your way out and to the bus station. Luckily Sal, Todd, and Larry were already there waiting for you. They comforted you and told you the first day will be no problem with them by your side. You calmed down a bit but still had a nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach.
When you finally made it to school, you walked with all the boys in the hallway. They spotted a girl and called out to her. When she turned around you could feel your heart skip a beat. 'Woah...she's really pretty, god, how is it legal for someone to look that good- lord have merthy' You could feel your face heat up and cold sweat run down your face. "Y/n, I'd like you to meet Ash, you remember us talking about her, right?" Larry said, holding your shoulder.
"Hey there, my name is Ashley, but you can call me Ash. I love your outfit! It's very cute!" You gulped, why were you so nervous around this girl?
"T-thanks, my name is y/n."
"I heard," she laughed. You mentally shoved yourself in a 6 feet deep hole. 'DUMBASS, god damn it y/n, you done fucked up'
"Right! Uh, I like your sweater. I love the color purple!"
"Me too! Look at us, we already have something in common. I'll see you soon though, I should probably head to class. See ya guys, see ya y/n," she winked at you before waving. 'omgomgomgomgomg' You felt eyes in the back of your head and turned around to see Sal leaning against the wall.
"I know that look y/n, you've got the hots for her, don't you?"
"What?! No way," you blush furiously, refusing to admit it.
"Mhmmmmm."
"Fine....maybe a little. Any advice to get her to notice me? You've known her longer than me."
"Uhhh, I mean, we can try some dating tactics?"

And so began the worst attempts at trying to get Ash to notice you:
You tried baking cookies...you ended up burning them.
You tried getting her flowers...she said, "Aww, thanks y/n, you're such a great friend!"
You tried telling her flirty lines...you couldn't even finish saying the first line.
You tried to get her attention...someone would always interrupt.
You tried getting her gifts...it ended up with you and her having a war of who could give the other more gifts.
You tried the letter in the locker...it fell out and the janitor threw it away.
After months of trying and having nothing work, you finally felt defeated and hopeless. "Nothing's working Sal! I've been friend-zoned!" you say with a sad and dramatic voice. "I've tried for months and every time I do something, something goes wrong!"
"How about the dance? You could try and ask her out?"
"Nah, I'm done. I'll just keep imagining she accepts my love in my head and just go out with the guys as a friend group." As you spoke, Sal pats your back comfortingly.
"Whatever you want, I just want you to be happy."

You are now heading inside the school with the gang. Everyone is dressed in their best fits and looking snazzy. Todd had said Ash was waiting inside for us. You felt your heart hurt a bit but ultimately decided to ignore it, wanting to forget about your dating troubles and just have a good time.
After adjusting to the lights and the loud music, you began to feel your nerves calm down. The dance was going well, you were tired but was still having a fun time. When a slow song came on, you saw Ash slowly approach you. You glanced around nervously, pulling on your collar a bit. "H-hey Ash!"
"Hey y/n...I was just...I was wondering if you'd like to dance with me?" She brought out her hand, waiting to see if you'd accept it. Your eyes lit up and a big smile made its way onto your face.
"I'D- ehem, I'd love to dance with you!" You gently accept her hand and she brings you to the dance floor. You try to stay calm but your heart is racing and your palms are sweating.
"If I'm being honest y/n, I like you. Like, like you like you." She had a small blush on her face as she shyly looked away from you.
"Really?! I...I do to, in fact, I was trying to hint at you that I did months ago," you laughed, remembering all the awful attempts you tried.
"Months!? Gosh, I'm really oblivious, aren't I?" She laughed with you, spinning you around to go along with the music. "So, does this mean we're partners?"
"You know...I'd like that," you hold her close, enjoying the moment with her.

Extra: Larry was shaking the hell out of Sal, cheering you on as you danced with Ash. Todd also informed your dad that the plan was successful. Your dad wiped small tears in his eyes, looking at a picture of you.
"Took you long enough," your dad said, laughing.
