12th of April 2009 - Windsor Castle

"What is he doing here?" Harry hissed taking his seat next to William in the chapel, a frown set upon his face as he spotted Simon enter with his family; he hadn't see his former friend since their clash last year.

This was the last place that he had ever thought that he would see Simon, it had always been a family event the Easter service with many of the extended family attending the service that was held at Windsor.

"Granny invited him," William replied with a shrug, his eyes also trained on Simon who looked rather nervous as he and the FitzClarences were lead to their seats; no doubt their arrival already being talked about in the press.

Afterall, like the Christmas service at Sandringham their arrival and exit were the only thing visible to the people outside as it was considered a private affair.

"You seriously can't still be mad? You can't seriously want them to break up," William stated with a shake of his head, his voice lowered as he peered down at the programme that he had been handed for the service.

He thumbed through the pages taking in the hymns and sermons that would be given today, it was usually rather quick before they headed back to the castle for the traditional easter luncheon that was held.

"I do. He doesn't deserve Adeline," Harry muttered with a shake of his head, it stung that his sister had barely breathed a word to him in over a year now.

He had assumed that she would get over his leaking of her relationship to the press and perhaps see it as a good thing that he had opened her eyes to the truth, it wasn't like she could hide it away forever.

"Then who does Harry?" William scoffed with a shake of his head, no one would ever be good enough for Adeline in Harry's eyes; it was like he expected her to become some sort of spinster with twenty cats or something.

If it wasn't Simon, then Harry would likely be tormenting whatever poor sod happened to cross Adeline's eye and he'd never learn his lesson.

"Listen. Simon's been putting up with your crap since school and the fact you derailed his military career so you wouldn't be lonely," William said taking a deep breath, he looked at his brother as he spoke wanting him to understand.

No matter how much he might disapprove of what Harry had done, he wanted to bring peace to his siblings before someone really got hurt in all of this.

Adeline and Simon had been together three years next month, the relationship wasn't going anywhere from what he could tell and Harry either got with the programme or would find himself iced out by Adeline.

"He's always been a good friend to you and probably knows more about your scandals than I do, is it truly that bad that they're together?" William questioned as their father and stepmother made their entrance, Adeline following behind them as they made their way to their seats.

He didn't say another word only offering Harry a look before everyone else took their seats, hoping that his words might have given Harry some food for thought.

He'd always been rather rash and William knew that he probably meant well, even if he didn't have the best track record; there was no ignoring more stories were coming out now about Harry's behaviour since the end of his friendship with Simon.

Harry was silent, staring at William for a moment before Adeline took her seat next to him in the pew; her face giving nothing away as she took her programme and started to read through it.

Was it really that bad that Simon and Adeline were together, he seemed to make her happy afterall and out of all his crappy friends, it wasn't like she had chosen the worst one to go out with.

Chelsy had said the same as William, she too couldn't understand his disapproval of Adeline's relationship even seriously questioning him on why he hated the idea of Adeline dating so much.

Grumbling to himself, Harry looked at his sister who was doing everything in her power to ignore him; it wasn't like he could ignore the fact that she dodged him at every turn these days.

If there was one thing worse than Adeline shouting at you, it was her giving you the silent treatment; he would have preferred it if she had screamed at him for the crap that he pulled rather than this.

The service passed by with little to note for Harry, his mind going back and forth on the situation that he currently found himself in; even William had seemed wary around him in recent months and didn't discuss his own relationship around Harry.

There had been a shift around him that at first he didn't notice, a wariness to share information with him and he couldn't help but feel annoyed that he was being treated differently.

Adeline was on her feet and moving away from Harry, as soon as she was able to; not even sparing a glance towards Harry as she moved as if he hadn't been sat next to her for an hour.

A frown forming on Harry's face as he watched her go, how was he meant to apologise or anything if she wasn't willing to spare a moment of her time it wasn't like she had anywhere important to go.

Standing from his seat, Harry followed the slow moving procession alongside William as they made their way out of the chapel.

His eyes focused ahead on Adeline, who was now walking beside their aunt as if nothing was wrong and she hadn't spent the last hour ignoring him.

The procession out of the chapel was slow, far slower than Harry would have liked and he pursed his lips wanting to get out of here faster than he was able to.

He nodded to the Dean of Windsor while William stopped to speak to the man about the service, it wasn't Harry's sort of thing and one of the many reasons that he was thankful that he wasn't the heir.

Scanning the crowd that had gathered to see the Queen and Prince Philip enter the car so that they could return to Windsor Castle, he paused at the sight of the Queen speaking quite cheerfully with the Countess of Munster.

A frown setting upon his face and he couldn't believe that the rules had been bent in such a way, it was highly unheard of for this sort of thing to happen.

Catherine, who had been with William for nearly six years had never been invited to attended such an event; even Chelsy, Harry's partner on and off for five years hadn't ever been invited to join the family at celebrations such as these.

Anger filled him at that, he didn't get why Adeline was afford such special treatment when she had betrayed him by going behind his back and stealing his best friend from him.

Once he was finished speaking with the Dean of Windsor, William moved to stand beside his brother for a moment; watching as their grandmother entered her vehicle with Prince Philip before making the short trip up to the castle.

Once the Queen was away, the rest of the royals started to make the short trek back to the castle separating into small groups as they talked amongst themselves.

William separated himself from Harry, his eyes locked on his target as he sped up wanting to catch him; he was more than happy to play his part in his grandparents plan.

A united front is what the press would see here, no one would be able to deny that the FitzClarences had been welcomed into the fold and that the royal family supported Adeline and Simon in their relationship.

"Simon," William greeted falling into step with the younger man, a warm smile upon his face as he did so; he could see that Simon was rather nervous and he couldn't exactly blame him for that.

The last time he was here at Windsor, Harry had punched him in the face before trying to ruin his relationship with Adeline by telling the press about them.

"My friends and I are planning a get together this next weekend, we'd love it if you'd join us," William insisted knowing that things had been a little dead for Simon in the social department as of late.

He knew that if he asked, Adeline would do the same thing for him by including Catherine in her plans; he knew his girlfriend did speak to Adeline more now especially in regards to what she should when she joined the royal family by marriage.

Catherine was eager to learn all she could, even before he had popped the question wanting to prepare herself for the role that she would one day hold.

There was no one better in her mind to learn from than Adeline, the Princess was only a couple of years younger than her and was about to make her change to full-time royal and it was the best way to learn what was awaiting her for when her time came.

"Don't worry about Harry, we might share some of the same friend group but he won't be there," William reassured him, he had no intentions on inviting Harry to this weekend retreat with his friends.

He didn't quite trust that his brother anymore and his decision to invite Simon would only cause problems down the line, William had no interest in fighting with Harry while he was in this sort of mood.
