The next morning, on a rooftop at an inn, Sanji found Zoro, Chopper, and Luffy.
Sanji: Here you are. We've all got rooms here, but no one's in their rooms. I guess none of us could sleep...
He saw Luffy sitting on a nearby building, staring at the city quietly.
Chopper: Where did you go, Sanji?
Sanji: I stayed by Rocky Cape all night keeping watch just in case Robin or (Y/N) returned. I wonder where they went. I was planning on searching the town again today. Whatever happens, let's make this in our contact point.
Chopper: I'll...I'll come too! To search!
Sanji: Yeah? Okay.
Chopper: I feel really bad for (Y/N)... I'm sure he didn't mean to do it!
Zoro: Of course he didn't.
Sanji: If he wasn't a Logia, we could've caught up to him much easier... Damn it...
He noticed Chopper was holding a book.
Sanji: What are you reading, Chopper?
Chopper: This was a book (Y/N) and I got at the bookstore here. It's about devils.
Zoro: Devils?
Chopper: I...I wanted to see if there was something in here that gave me an idea of how to help him deal with it... But I've found nothing... I just wanted to help...
Sanji: It's not your fault about what happened last night. None of us know anything about devils. We can't do anything about it except support (Y/N).
Chopper: But... I want to help everyone!
Zoro: A devil isn't an illness, Chopper. It's something beyond any of us.
Chopper: Do you think its taken him over?
Sanji: No... (Y/N)'s strong... Besides, if it did, half of the city would probably be destroyed by now.
Just then, Nami burst onto the roof.
Nami: Luffy!! Terrible news! The whole town's in an uproar... Last night, Mr. Iceberg from the shipbuilding yard was shot at his home!!
Luffy: Ice guy?!
Nami: Yes, he was shot. He's in a coma right now...
Sanji: Who is that, Nami?
Nami: A man we talked to at the shipbuilding yard yesterday. He's the president of the shipbuilding company and also the mayor of Water 7.
Sanji: He's quite the big shot.
Nami: There's never been a bigger incident in this town.
Luffy: Everyone loved and respected him... I'm gonna go check things out.
He jumped off of the building.
Nami: Wait, Luffy! I'm coming too!
...
(Y/N) sat in a dark alleyway. He sighed in relief. The voice was gone.
He shook his head, wiping the dried tears off of his face.
How can he be so pathetic? He easily let the devil get to him... And then he just took off running and didn't even face Luffy and the others!
(Y/N): <quietly> Damn it...
He had never given in to the devil's words so easily in his entire life. What the hell happened?
At least it wasn't talking to him anymore. The whispers were completely gone. For now.
The (H/C) haired male slowly stood up and leaned against the wall.
He didn't even know if he should go back to the Straw Hats after what he did. He knew they would forgive him, but could he forgive himself?
Alarms began to sound. He jumped a bit, startled.
Voice: This is an advisory from the Water 7 Weather Bureau. The entire island is on Aqua Laguna alert at this time.
(Y/N): <confused> Aqua Laguna?
He slowly walked out of the alleyway, his eyes adjusting to the light outside.
He bumped into a woman.
(Y/N): Oh, s-sorry...
Woman: It's fine? May I ask why you were sleeping in an alleyway?
(Y/N): Just...has a bad night, I suppose.
Woman: Ah, we've all had those. But you'd better find somewhere other an alleyway to sleep in. Or at least an alleyway high up. Aqua Laguna's coming.
(Y/N): What is that?
Woman: A high tide. This town will be submerged in water soon. Probably around midnight I think.
(Y/N): Really? Wow.
Woman: Yeah, it's an annual thing. Stay safe!
She waved him goodbye as she walked away.
As (Y/N) walked through the city, the voice over the loudspeakers continued to speak.
Voice: Repeat advisory. Tonight at 12:30, all of Water 7 is on Aqua Laguna alert.
(Y/N): <thinking> Damn. I really need to find Luffy and the others.

(Y/N) continued to walk around the city looking for any sign of someone from his crew.
He eventually came upon a crowd of people looking at something.
A huge structure came tumbling down.
(Y/N): What the hell?!
He pushed through the crowd. That's when he heard a familiar voice.
Nami: Luffy!! Kick that speedo guy's butt!!
(Y/N) couldn't help but smile at the sound Nami's voice. He continued to move through the crowd.
He came upon Luffy and a light blue haired man in a speedo. They looked to be in a fight.
Luffy: <to the man> Well, either way, I'm gonna beat your brains out.
???: <laughs> Just try it. Your attacks won't have any effect on me!
He held up his arm at Luffy, and his hand snapped to the side, revealing what looked like a cannon.
(Y/N): <shocked> What?!
???: Weapons Left!!
He shot a blast at Luffy who dodged the attack.
Luffy: Gum-Gum Whip!!
He kicked at the man, who blocked the attack with his arm.
Suddenly, both of them were thrown into the pile of rubble from the structure they had just knocked down.
(Y/N): What the—?!
Luffy glared at the people who had attacked him.
Luffy: Who are you?!
A group of five men stood in front of him. They looked angry.
He and Nami's eyes widened like they were familiar with who these people were.
A blond man with a cigar, Paulie, glared at Luffy.
Paulie: You've got some nerve. Just what is It you're after, Straw Hat?!
The man in the Speedo looked confused.
???: Galley-La... Why are you here?!
Meanwhile, the crowd watching cheered.
Crowd: Yay!! It's the foremen from Dock One!!
Nami: It's the shipwrights from yesterday! They'll be on our side, right?!
(Y/N): <thinking> So those are the people who looked at the Going Merry...
Crowd: It's the foremen! What a relief! That was close! Thanks to Franky and those pirates, the shipbuilding factory came this close to being destroyed!
(Y/N): <thinking> Franky? So that speedo man is Franky, huh?
Two women with dark hair in the shape of squares rolled their eyes. Probably Franky's lackeys.
Franky: Hey, now, Galley-La boys. You know, you shouldn't stick your noses into other people's fights. Do you want to get hurt?
The foremen with a long nose (like Usopp's), Kaku, spoke up.
Kaku: You're one to talk. Looking at what you did to our factory, we were bound to come after you.
A large man with a white beard and mustache, Tilestone, shouted in rage.
Tilestone: That's right, Franky, you fool! How are you planning to atone for this?!
Paulie: Just hold on, Tilestone. We'll deal with him later. We have more important business here, remember? Don't we, Straw Hat Luffy? You know what I'm talking about. I'm amazed you showed your face here again.
(Y/N): What the hell's he talking about?
Luffy: Why? When we heard about the old guy, we—
Franky: <sighs> So our family wasn't enough for you, huh? You had to go and mess with Galley-La too? You must be at that awkward age when you hurt everything you touch!
Luffy: <angry> We didn't do anything!!
Paulie: If you're gonna play dumb, I'll just turn up the heat!!!
A rope flew out of his sleeve which wrapped around Luffy's neck.
Luffy: <choking> Gack!!! It hurts!!! It hurts!!! Ugh...!!
Paulie: Rope Action: Half-Knot Air Drive!!!
He swung Luffy into a pile of rubble.
Franky: You jerks!! I told you not to get in the way!! What part of that don't you get?! I'm the one who's got a score to settle with that guy!!!
The other members of the Galley-La Company got ready to fight.
Crowd: Go get him, Galley-La Company!! It's a fight with the company's five strongest guys!!
Nami: <shocked> Huh? Why? Why are all the shipwrights out enemies too?!
Paulie moved towards Luffy when all of a sudden, a fist surrounded with swirling wind rammed into his face, sending him crashing into a wall.
The crowd let out a scream.
(Y/N): You son of bitch!!! How dare you attack my captain!!
Nami/Luffy: (Y/N)!!!
The Galley-La members turned to look at the newly arrived pirate.
Nami: (Y/N), where'd you come from?!
Luffy stood up.
Luffy: (Y/N), don't attack them! We've got no reason to fight them!
(Y/N): What?! But they attacked you for no reason!
A man with glasses, a mustache, and one piece of hair sticking up, Peepley Lulu, shot his guns at Luffy and (Y/N).
The bullets went right through (Y/N) and bounced off of Luffy.
Lulu: Did you two eat Devil Fruits?
He then jumped at (Y/N), leg raised up in the air for a kick attack.
(Y/N) grabbed his leg and threw him away from him.
Another member with a top hat and a pigeon on his shoulder, Rob Lucci, began punching at Luffy.
He was able to knock Luffy into the ground.
Luffy: <coughing> These guys really are strong!
He shot up, angry as (Y/N) clapped his hands together, creating a shockwave that threw Lucci off of his feet.
Luffy: What's wrong with you?! At least tell me why you're doing this!!
Paulie stomped over to him.
Paulie: We're the ones who want an explanation!! Last night, somebody broke into headquarters and attacked Mayor Iceberg, and that somebody was you guys, wasn't it?!
Crowd: Huh?!
Nami: What are you suggesting?
Luffy: Don't be an idiot!! Why would we do something like that?!
(Y/N): What the hell?
Paulie: After the mayor came to, he said there were two assassins. When we asked the government, they told us one of them was a buddy of yours, a bounty named Nico Robin!!
Luffy/(Y/N): Robin??!!
Paulie: Did you come to this island intending to kill the mayor? Or did you decide that after you met him yesterday? I don't know what you pirates are thinking, but now that we know you're the culprits, there's no way we're letting you go free!
Crowd: They're the culprits?!! They won't get away with it!!
Franky: Hey, now! Does that mean Iceberg's dead?!
Paulie: You think these idiots could kill him?! We're doing this because he's alive. They could take another shot at the mayor, so we're getting rid of them now.
Kaku threw a knife at Luffy who moved out of the way. It managed to cut his cheek.
Kaku: Dead or alive... Do you know what it means to be wanted men? You pirates have no recourse, no matter what anyone does to you. In other words, world law doesn't protect you.
Luffy: That's right. We're outlaws. I know that! But you don't even know Robin!! Stop telling lies about her!!!
Nami: Luffy...
(Y/N) just glared at the Galley-La members.
Luffy: Let us see Ice Guy!! It's gotta be a mistake! It couldn't have been Robin!!
Lulu: There's no way we're letting you anywhere near the mayor! Who knows what you'll do!!
Crowd: Yeah!! Tie up the criminals!! They tried to kill the town's hero!! Off with their heads! They deserve no less!!
Some of them grabbed Nami, restraining her.
Luffy: Nami!!
Paulie: Give yourselves up!! The news will spread through town fast. You've got nowhere to run. We're gonna kill the whole lot of you!!
(Y/N) growled before pointing his finger at Paulie.
(Y/N): I'd like to see you try, shithead!! Lightning Shot!!!
A bolt of lightning shot out of his finger, going through Paulie. He fell to the ground.
The crowd screamed.
Luffy: No, (Y/N)!!
Lulu: Paulie!!!
Crowd: He just killed Paulie!! Get them!! Crush them, Galley-La Company!!!
Luffy: (Y/N), we have no reason to fight these guys!!
(Y/N) turned to look at Luffy. His (E/C) eyes were dark.
Luffy: (Y/N)...
(Y/N): If they're trying to kill us, then we'll try to kill them back!! They're accusing us of something we didn't commit!
Luffy stared at (Y/N).
Luffy: (Y/N), stop. Please.
(Y/N) sighed before running over to Luffy and throwing him over his shoulder.
Tilestone and Lulu ran after him, but he pointed his finger at them.
(Y/N): Tornado Finger!
A tornado shot out of it, picking up the two foremen and throwing them around.
Luffy stretched him arm out, grabbing Nami and pulling her over to him.
Nami: Whoa!!
As the three started running away, Franky shot an attack at some of the Galley-La foremen that caused the entire dock to be destroyed.
The pirates used that distraction to get away.

The three were now sitting on the rooftop of a building.
(Y/N): Sorry about what happened back there. I just... I'm having a hard time right now...
Luffy: It's okay, (Y/N). I know you're hurting because of the devil right now.
(Y/N): In any case, that shipwright that got hit by my lightning bolt should be alive, albeit unconscious for a bit.
Nami: So it was the devil last night?
(Y/N): <sighs> Y-Yeah... For some reason, I let its voice influence me... I don't know why I was so easily swayed...
Luffy put his hand on his shoulder.
Luffy: It's okay, (Y/N). No one got hurt. We're here, remember?
(Y/N) smiled and nodded.
Nami scanned the water around the city.
Nami: Hmm... It doesn't seem safe right now.
Luffy: What do you mean?
Nami: The island's topography and weather. If the wind keeps blowing like this and the air pressure drops, a typhoon might come through the island tonight. The city made a name for itself as the City of Water, but that's also its weakness. It's just asking for flood damage.
Luffy: What's that to us?
Nami: Mmm, well, it bothers me, so I'll look into it later.
(Y/N): Oh, apparently there's—
Nami: <pointing> Look!!
(Y/N): And I'm being interrupted.
She was pointing to a mansion across from them where a crowd of people were. It was labeled as "Galley-La Company."
Nami: Look down there! That's the place. A crowd of people who look like reporters are there. And that place connects to Dock One. The mayor has got to be in that mansion!
Luffy stood up.
(Y/N): Wait, Luffy, are you seriously going down there?!
Luffy: Of course! Why would Ice Guy say Robin was the criminal? I want to ask him myself.
(Y/N): Just don't forget that the entire island is after us.
Nami: Be extra careful, okay? Figure out where Iceberg's room is and don't make a move until you're sure the coast is clear.
Luffy: Okay. I'm off.
He stretched his arms to the mansion.
(Y/N): Huh?!
Nami: Wait!!
He swung himself over to the mansion window and crashed through it, causing a bunch of people to scream.
Crowd: <scared> We're being attacked!!! Straw Hat Luffy has broke into headquarters!!! Protect Mayor Iceberg!!!
Nami and (Y/N) both sweatdropped.
(Y/N): God damn it. What the hell is wrong with him?!
Nami: <sighs> There's nothing we can do. We just have to hope he doesn't get himself captured or killed.
(Y/N): Robin still hasn't come back?
Nami: No... I find it hard to believe that she was the one who shot Mr. Iceberg.
(Y/N): And what sort of motive would she even have to do that? Is he an old acquaintance of hers or something?
Nami: I don't know...
She noticed that (Y/N) looked agitated.
Nami: <smiling> You're really worried about her, huh?
(Y/N): Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?
Nami: I am too. We all are.
(Y/N) let out a big sigh. He rubbed his head.
Nami: I'm sorry about what you have to go through. I can't even imagine being stuck with something like that sealed in you.
(Y/N): It's okay. It's just... I don't know why I randomly gave in to its words... That's never happened before.
Nami didn't say anything. She didn't know what she was supposed to say to that.
(Y/N): The book that Chopper and I got, it said that the devil's switching tactics essentially...
Nami: So it's more dangerous now. But you're strong. I know you can fight it off.
(Y/N): I hope I can. I mean, I've last this long with it. But... I'm just scared. If it were to take control and hurt you guys...
Nami: But it's not going to. You're strong, I know you are.
(Y/N) smiled.
Luffy jumped back onto the roof. At the mansion, crowds were shouting and running around.
(Y/N): That was fast.
Nami: <to Luffy> Did you really get to talk to him, then? To Mr. Iceberg?
Luffy: <sitting down> He says he really saw Robin.
(Y/N): <shocked> What?!
Nami: That can't be...! Why would Robin do such a...?
Luffy: I don't believe it!!!
(Y/N): Neither do I.
Nami: Well, before we do anything else, we should go join up with the others.
(Y/N): Where is everyone else by the way?
Nami: We stayed at an inn last night. I hope everyone's still there.
Luffy: Sanji and Chopper were saying that they were going to go look for Robin.
(Y/N): I'll look around for them while you two head back to the inn. If I can't find them, give me the name of the inn so I can meet up with you.
Nami: But you need to be careful. The whole city's looking for us.
(Y/N) nodded.

Sanji and Chopper stood in front of the schedule for the sea train.
Sanji: The sea train's in service, huh? There's an afternoon train, and then one more leaves tonight. It leaves in this terrible weather for Enies Lobby at eleven. Wow, the sea train's pretty impressive.
Chopper: You don't think Robin might have boarded the sea train, do you?
Sanji: If she is on board the train, then we're really in trouble. It's hard enough searching Water 7 without adding more islands to the mix!
Chopper: I wonder where she went. Maybe I did make her mad at the bookstore. Do you think so, Sanji?
Sanji: Dummy. You know that's not it.
???: Psst. Hey, Sanji! Chopper!
The two turned to see someone peeking from behind a corner in an alleyway.
Sanji: Huh?
Chopper: Wh-Who's that?
The two walked closer and saw a man with familiar (H/L) (H/C) hair. He was wearing a top hat, sunglasses, and a fake mustache.
Chopper: Who are you?
Sanji: <shocked> (Y/N)?!
Chopper: WHAAAA??!!
(Y/N): Shhh!! Keep it down, you fool! I can't let myself be seen.
Chopper started sobbing and jumped onto the male's face, hugging him.
Chopper: <sobbing> I-I-I thougbt youb were neber combing back!!
(Y/N) patted Chopper's back before taking him off of his face.
(Y/N): I just...needed time to clear my head. Sorry about all that happened back there and for scaring you.
Chopper: It's okay!
Sanji: Yeah. You don't have to apologize. We understand.
(Y/N) nodded and looked around.
(Y/N): Our crew is being hunted down right now. They believe that Rob—
His eyes widened as he pointed across the canal. Robin was standing there.
(Y/N): Robin!
Sanji/Chopper: Huh? Robin!!
Sanji: Where have you been?! We've been looking for you!! Everyone's worried sick!! Let's go back to the inn! We've been having problems of our own here too!
(Y/N): Chopper and I will need to find a way to cross the canal without getting wet. Sanji can just swim...
Robin: No! Don't bother. Stay there! I won't be coming back to the crew. This is where we part ways.
The three boys looked shocked.
Chopper: Robin?
Sanji: Robin, what are you saying?! Oh, I get it! This is about the newspaper thing! It's nothing to worry about! None of us believe it.
Chopper: Pirates are always getting falsely accused whenever bad things go down.
Robin: I'm sorry you all were unjustly linked to that business, but there are no lies about me in that article. I was definitely the one who entered the mayor's mansion last night.
(Y/N): What?
Robin: There is a darkness in me that you and the crew do not know. A darkness that will someday destroy you. Actually, it's convenient that the locals are blaming you for the attack as that will help me make my escape. Things will only get worse from here on out.
Sanji: What is all this?! Why would you do something so—?!
Robin: Why? There's no need for you to know.
Sanji: Robin! I don't understand what you're saying! What's going on?!
Chopper: Robin! Come back with us!!
(Y/N) took off his disguise. He was glaring at Robin.
Robin: We haven't known each other long, but after today we'll never meet again. Please give my message to the others for me.
She turned to leave.
Robin: I didn't deserve it, but thank you for the kindness you've shown me till now.
She was staring at (Y/N) as she turned.
(Y/N): Robin!! What do you think you're doing?! Remember what I told you?! We devils should stick together!! What happened to that??!! Robin!!!
She flinched but started to walk away.
Robin: Goodbye...
(Y/N): Robin!!!
Sanji: Wait... No one is going to be okay with this! Robin, wait!! Quit joking around!!!
He jumped into the canal to swim over to her.
(Y/N) just stared at Robin. He couldn't move for some reason.
He watched as she walked away.
