berkleybecks posted on her close friends story!
"Mason, what is this?!" Berkley exclaimed, standing outside in just her sleeping shorts and the boy's old Chelsea hoodie as she covered her mouth in utter shock.
Her legs shook as she stood in the cold early morning weather while Mason laughed as he got out of the car, holding a little puppy in his hands gently.
"Surpriseeee," he sang out slightly as he approached her, looking at the pup while petting it before looking back at Berkley and her widened eyes and dropped jaw. He grinned, holding the pet out for her to take.
"Is- is this for me?" She asked him as she hesitantly took the puppy in her arms, looking at it with a look of awe as she stared into its cute little face. Her eyes lit up as she held it, smiling wider before looking back up at Mason. "No way..."
He couldn't help but smile as he stared at the girl and the way her face was immediately 10x brighter while holding the dog. Her smile was wider, something he always found pleasure in being able to create, and he never quite understood how genuine the term 'if you're happy then I'm happy' could be until he had first seen Berkley smile because of him.
"Little guy was in some box on the side of the road by the facility the other day," Mason began to say as he stood beside her and pet the little dog in her arms. His eyes bounced from it to her as she looked up at him, "and I figured we could give him a good home."
Berkley raised her eyebrows as Mason spoke. "We?" She piped, making him blush slightly.
"Well..." he chuckled a little, "I've grown a bit of a connection to him these past 24 hours and I know I'm going to be gone at camp for a bit but I was hoping that you and I could share custody. He could keep you company too because I won't be here to do it."
Berkley looked at the hopeful gleam in Mason's eye, chuckling a bit as she gave him a small smile. Coyly, she thought for a minute as she continued to pet the puppy, humming as she tilted her head. Mason stared at her patiently before she turned to him, holding the puppy close to her face as she spoke.
"I'm sure we can make it work," she said in a joking, serious manner. Mason beamed as he watched her hold the dog up in between them, smiling at it as a short sneeze came out of its snout. Berkley laughed, lighting up before looking at Mason in excitement, "you see that?! it's like our first child."
"First?" He questioned, smirking at her as she instantly regretted her words and blushed. Berkley rolled her eyes playfully, shaking her head with a scoff.
"Shut up," she grumbled before lowering her gaze back down to the dog in her arms, "what should we name him?"
"Chelsea." Mason suggested instantly, making Berkley shoot him a glare as he sent her an innocent smile.
"Absolutely not," she said, "how about Gunner?"
"Yeah, no." Mason laughed sharply, "if it can't be Chelsea related then it can't be Arsenal related either."
Berkley huffed as she rolled her eyes jokingly. "Life would be so much simpler if you just played for Arsenal."
"Or if you came to your senses and just support blue instead of red, maybe we wouldn't have some Romeo and Juliet situation in our hands."
Berkley glared at Mason, "you chose this life. I rejected you at first. Typical Romeo Montague behaviour."
Mason scoffed, shaking his head as a light chuckle escaped his lips. "Thou was deceived! and by the time thou found out, thou was in too deep."
"Thou must stop speaking of Shakespeare," Berkley laughed, shoving him lightly as he broke out into a smile at his terrible impression.
The two laughed and Mason stared at her, his mind beginning to work as his smile slowly disappeared before his face fell into realisation. Berkley knew that look, and she knew that the light bulb in his mind had just turned on.
"Shakespeare! That's it!" He snapped at her, seeing her look of alarm at his sudden exclamation, "William- or Willy? Whatever, that's it!"
Berkley furrowed her eyebrows as she processed his words. She thought for a moment, humming as the name replayed in her mind. She darted her eyes down to the pup and back to Mason before ultimately looking back at the dog. She smiled at it, "you look like a William, don't you?"
Mason beamed when the little guy suddenly let out a small bark, catching Berkley's excited eye as she looked up.
He couldn't help but look at her and picture what it would be like if William had been a little human with his eyes and Berkley's nose. He felt flutters in his heart thinking about it, something he never really pictured with anybody else before. He stared at the girl, and she looked up at him with the widest smile possible, and he found himself wishing that his future children could have that same smile someday. That same smile that he worked so hard to see everyday.
He had never really thought of a future aside from football, but looking at Berkley Beckham and looking at little Will laying in her arms, he supposed he didn't mind thinking of things outside of the ball and pitch he had loved all his life.
