averee met up with bella at the cafe to watch the girls band rehearsal. the girls had all gone swimming that morning, averee didn't join them, she wasnt in the mood for swimming. she watched bella sing as she sat by rikki, scabbing off the blondes juice. "ave, get your own." rikki warned the brunette as averee just shrugged, leaning back in her chair. averee watched as bella looked up towards someone before the blonde looked down. averee turned slightly, seeing will. she rolled her eyes, slouching further as she picked at her fingers.
bellas set finished and the group all clapped, averee kept picking at her fingers before she felt someone grab her hands. "don't." bella muttered sternly as the brunette looked up at her with an apologetic smile. "we are on fire. i cant wait for fridays gig." "me either." bella smiled down at averee before nate walked up behind the blonde, "great set, bella. were making magic out there." "thanks." averee kicked the boys shoe, "hands off." she mouthed as the boy looked at her with a glare, as she looked back up at bella she saw the girl watching will leave, she pulled at the bottom of bellas shirt trying to get the blondes attention as the blonde rubbed her hand before going to follow will.
averee sighed, glancing at rikki who was already smirking at the girl. "when are you gonna tell her?" averee creased her eyebrows together looking at the blonde, "tell who what?" rikki shook her head at the girl, "just ask her out, i'm sick of both of you." rikki muttered, only loud enough for averee to hear. averees eyes widened as the girl slapped rikkis arm, making the blonde laugh, "i dont like her like that." averees face slushed red as rikki muttered a "sure" before turning back to cleo.

"he's always had a thing about mako." "i think its different this time. he's completely fired up. i never meant to encourage him. i really tried to put him off, i really did." bella got up moving to sit by averee on cleos bed, the brunette didn't look up, keeping her eyes locked on the wall. maybe it was out of jealousy, or maybe she'd convinced herself she was mad at the girl for almost revealing them as mermaids to will again, though deep down, she knew she didn't care about that.
"well, how many times do we have to tell you? you need to forget about him before it's too late." cleo walked out of her bathroom, putting her hand up at rikki, "give it a break, rikki." cleo sat down by the two before rikki walked over, "i'm trying to help her. she's in over her head." "yeah well, thats what these things are like and he is obviously obsessed with her." averee scoffed rolling her eyes, "obviously." she muttered, bella glanced at her with a hurt expression before looking away. rikki pointed at averee, "exactly. does anyone else hear alarm bells?" "rikki.." bella turned around to the girls, "no. no, she's right. its gone too far already. its just too dangerous."

bella was hanging out with will around the beach. she'd only agreed to it because the boy said he'd back off the mako topic all together. she liked hanging around him, the two were similar in a sense. she found it refreshing, like she was talking to another version of herself. her mind kept drifting back to averee, the girl had been cold towards her all day. she didn't understand why either. she wasn't sure if it was just averee or if she had done something.
she noticed the brunette would have moments where she'd seem cold or snappy to anyone who even tried to speak to her but even on those days the girl was never like that with bella. now she was only like that with the blonde. bella tried to push the thought away when she was with will. the two walked along the beach talking as the boy tried to hold bellas hand, the girl looked down before pulling her arm back with an apologetic smile. he acted unbothered by it as the two kept on their conversation.
the boy went out to swim as bella waited behind sitting on the rocks. as the boy came out he went to lean by bella on the rocks, "are you sure i can't tempt you into a swim?" "maybe another time." the two stared at each other for a bit until will began leaning in. bella went to say something when will touched her cheek. the girl panicked moving back. "whats wrong?" "i have to go." the girl muttered, running out to the water.

averee had spent majority of the day at the cafe, sketching. it calmed her down. made her think about the work instead of what was going on in her mind. or sometimes, it helped her to ground whatever she was thinking about. either way, it helped. she sat by rikki as the girl scolded bella for how close will had gotten to figuring out bellas secret. averee tuned it out. the girl didn't care anymore.
averee glanced up as rikki stormed off, seeing will walk up by bella. "where did you disappear to before. one minute, you were there and the next.." bella sighed looking up at the boy. "we need to talk, can you wait outside for a minute? i need to ask ave something." the boy listened, walking out as bell got up to sit by averee.
"ave, whats wrong?" the brunette just glanced at bella, "nothing." she looked back to her book, not being able to draw much. "is it about this whole will thing that rikkis annoyed about?" averee shook her head, still looking at her book. "if you want him to be your little boyfriend and you want to tell him about you being a mermaid, thats not my problem, the other two did the same." bella stared at the girl, "who said i wanted him to be my boyfriend? is that what you're pissed about?" averee looked up, panicking slightly. "no? why would i be annoyed by that?" bella just shook her head, "i've gotta go, i'll see you later." averee looked back down at her book as bella left.

averee walked into cleos room, speeding to sit on the bed as rikki joined her, "well, it was really close." "i did try to stall her." averee laughed a little at how dramatic the girl was. "its okay. i fixed it" cleo walked into the bathroom as averee rolled to lay on her back. "yeah, but even with the shell gone, will is still a major problem." "i had a bit of a chat to bella about that and i don't think she'll be seeing him again." cleo moved to sit behind averee as the girl glanced up at her, "we can't stop her from..." "it had to happen, cleo. and she finally gets it, the important thing is, he will never know about us."

the four met at mako, averee sat by bella. she was still annoyed at the girl but she could tell the blonde was upset, she cared more about that than whatever feelings she had, "i know you warned me, and i tried. i really did." averee pulled bellas hand towards her, holding it as she looked down at the water. "this is a disaster. he's gonna tell everyone. we'll end up on display at the marine park with ronny." "lay off rikki." averee glared over at the girl as she squeezed bellas hand. "no, you wont. he only thinks that i'm a mermaid." "i think he'll figure it out." "no, he asked me. i lied. i said i'm the only one." rikki sighed, looking out. "thanks, for protecting us." bella looked down before glancing at rikki.
"please forgive me." she muttered at the girl. "i guess whats done is done." "i'll fix it. i'll deal with it. and you guys wont have to do anything." averee pulled the girls hand, making the blonde look at her as she smiled softly at the girl. "no. we're in this together. we'll fix this together." rikki said sighing.

the girls were at the cafe, averee stood watching bella pace as the girl called will. she walked over to the group, "nothing. i must have called him 10 times already. is it so hard to pick up your phone?" bella leant into averee, averee moving her hand around the girls waist, drawing circles on her hip.
"you've tried. that's all you can do." bella sighed, dropping her shoulders, "i don't think i can sing like this." bella glanced at the stage, "you know how i forgave you for blowing our secret, despite me warning you in advance?" bella glanced at the girl, being silent for a moment before muttering, "yes." "if you skip out on a paid gig, i will be no where near as forgiving." bellas shoulders fell as she pushed herself more into averee. "rikkis right, bella. i mean, we need to act as normal as possible." "but what.." bella started muttering as she trailed off, "not! don't even think about it." rikki pulled the girl from averees arms, "now go, sing." bella began walking off, kissing averees cheek quickly as she walked past.
as the girl began singing averee turned to see will walking in. averee, cleo and rikki watched as the boy went over to sophie. "great, he's probably dropping the bombshell as we speak." averee sighed, looking up at bella as the girl was singing. she sent her a weak smile as the blonde was glancing between will and averee. averee watched as bella panicked, the girl running off stage towards will. as the boy turned to leave, bella turned towards averee, sending the girl a smile as she made her way back to the stage.

the four sat on cleos bed, averee leant her back on bellas front as the girl laid down. "at least our secrets safe." bella ran her hands through averees hair as she spoke. "for now." "no, he wont change his mind." rikki chuckled shaking her head, "never say never." "no, no, he really wont. hes a good friend. hes a really good friend." averee moved herself further into bella as the girl closed her eyes. "hey rikki. that sketch that you saw of me, what was it like?" "oh here we go." averee rolled her eyes, pushing her hands over her face. "was it cute? would you tell me? "you are unbelievable." rikki threw a pillow at bellas face, bella quickly pushed it out of the way, glancing down at averee to check it didn't hit her as she looked back at rikki with a glare, "you'd wanna know too! what was i wearing? no, come on. would you tell me?" the girls all laughed as averee grunted.
after a while cleo and rikki went downstairs to get food as averee moved herself further into bella. "why were you all annoyed at me this morning?" bella muttered. averee sighed, "it wasn't anything you did i promise." bella pushed the girl up to face her. "was it because of will?" averees face scrunched up slightly, "you know me and him are just friends right?" averee looked down quickly, "he actually tried to kiss me today it was probably the worst experience of my life." bella laughed trying to lighten the mood as cleo and rikki came back in.
