Von sat in his car which was parked right outside the police station. He had been waiting there for about 2 hours while his lawyers were inside trying to negotiate with the detectives on Herb's release.
Von ended up finding out that Herb was being questioned for the disappearance of Breezy aka Chris. He wasn't getting charged for anything at all. The police just barely had any evidence to keep him according to the lawyers. They were just dragging it out by keeping him for questioning as long as they could, hoping that Herb might slip up and tell them something.
Von wasn't really tripping about it though. For one, Herb wasn't no snitch. Plus, since Von made sure they got rid of Breezy's body... the police really had no case. For all they know, Breezy could've just ran off to some other country somewhere. They couldn't prove any murder being committed without a body.
This wasn't the first time the police did this to them. It was plenty of times in the past where the cops would bring them in for questioning about a case they just couldn't solve. The detectives would always try to see if Von or anyone associated with him would turn on each other.
Von knew that Chicago PD was always trying to investigate him and his people. It's like they had this vendetta against him. He knew they were itching to lock everyone up, including himself. Von wasn't afraid of jail at all though. He had been in and out of it since he was young. Getting locked up wasn't a huge problem for him back then.
But something felt different this time around. For some reason, his mind kept going back to Normani. What would happen if he did end up going to jail? How would she handle it? Von couldn't help but think these things. He knew Normani had a bright future. She was in school getting her degree. She had goals to establish a career.
He would just feel like too much of a burden for her if he ever got locked up....
The sudden sound of somebody knocking on the window of his car disrupted his thoughts as he looked up. Durk was standing right outside waving at him.
Von just sucked his teeth, unlocking the door before stepping out. He eye'd Durk with a cold straight face. Durk just nodded his head as they quickly did their usual mini handshake. Von wasn't sure why he was even shaking Durks hand right now... even though they were still beefing with each other.
"Aye I came as soon as I heard this shit."
Durk spoke up while nodding his head towards the police station. Von just crossed his arms against his chest.
"Yeah. They got Herb ass in thea for questioning."
"Questioning? fa what?"
Durk spoke in a low tone.
"Breezy."
Von lowly said back. Durk just slowly nodded his head, understanding the situation.
"I got him in there wit the lawyer though, so he should be straight."
Von added in.
"I also sent a couple guys to tha hospital where Antonio stays at. Made sure his paralyzed ass gon keep quiet even though he can't even talk on bro."
"His ass still alive?"
Durk questioned. Von just chuckled.
"Hell yeah. I want his ass ta suffer fa what he did to Mani before we blam his ass."
He snickered.
"How's Mani? She good?"
Durk suddenly questioned. Von's smirk slowly faded as he just eye'd Durk with a serious expression.
Folks can't be serious right na askin me sum shit like that??? He thought to himself.
"Nigga this about Herb, not Mani."
Von spoke harshly. He couldn't help but think Durk was trying to push his buttons or something.
"Aye look I was just askin. I ain't come here to fight."
Durk said while raising up his hands in defense. Von just rolled his eyes inwardly.
"And to be honest, I think we should talk about this shit though. I mean, how long you gon be mad at me over her?"
Durk continued to press. Von's eyes just grew dark as he tried to control his anger. He wasn't even sure why Durk was so concerned with all the wrong things right now.
"On my mama now is not tha time ta be discussing this shit-"
"When will it be the time huh? We been brothers since before you met her ass. Now all of a sudden we can't be cool?"
Durk said while cutting him off. Von couldn't even believe his words right now. He could feel the crazy in him wanting to come out. Herb is literally being questioned by detectives and this the shit Durk wanna argue about?
"First of all yo goofy ass in love wit my bitch, and ion fuck wit that shit on my soul! Case closed."
Von pointed.
"Look Von, I do have love for Mani, But I would neva try her in that way out of respect fa you-"
Von couldn't help but let out a dark chuckle, cutting Durk off mid-sentence.
"Oh, so you think Mani wasn't gon tell me about how you told her ass you loved ha at my mamas funeral? Yo ass got me fucked up! You did that shit behind my back!"
He snapped. He was starting to see red as Durk just sucked his teeth.
"On BD I could kill yo ass right na fa tryna play in my fuckin face. You not my brother get the fuck on wit that shit."
Von went on.
"Look Von, I was wrong for that and I'm sorry okay?!"
Durk yelled back. Before Von could even say anything else to him, the doors to the police station busted open.
"Unt Unt! Not ma niggas outchea fightin like some bitches!"
Herbs voice boomed as he exited while smirking. Von couldn't help but chuckle as Durk just rolled his eyes inwardly. Herb came walking out along with the lawyer by his side.
"Y'all hoes missed me huh?"
He joked as he made it towards them. They all dabbed each other up.
"Damn nigga we thought yo ass was booked. Almost hadda make a shirt talm bout sum 'free Herbert' up in this bitch."
Von joked as they all started to laugh.
"Ain't no free me. Ima always be free long as we got these folks."
Herb said while pointing towards the lawyer. His name was Steve. He just smiled while shaking hands with Herb, Von and Durk.
"It's always a pleasure working with you guys."
Steve said while grinning.
"But honestly, I would definitely advise you all to keep a low profile. Those detective in there look like they aren't going to let up."
He added in a serious tone.
"I gotta make a couple of calls to see what I can do to try and get them off your backs, but please... no more trouble."
Herb just sucked his teeth as Von playfully rolled his eyes.
"Yeah we get it. Don't een worry about that Steve. Aye look, I wired you some money this morning fa coming thru for us. We appreciate you G."
Von said. Steve just nodded his head, shaking hands with him again before saying his goodbyes.
"Aye Steve not lyin tho. Those detective was askin me all types of questions about you Von."
Herb whispered.
"But I ain't tell em shit. On my mama I would rather choke on a bitch titty milk before ever snitching."
Herb said proudly while grinning. Both Durk and Von looked at Herb with disgust as he just laughed.
"Nigga yeen had to say allat now..."
Durk groaned. Von just waved him off.
"I ain't scared of they pussy asses anyway. If they want me they gon have ta come get my ass."
Von muttered, referring to the police.
"Now come on. Mani been textin me telling me that Ari going crazy over yo ass."
Von stated. Herb just sucked his teeth.
"Her ass dramatic as hell."
He laughed.
"Aye speaking of Ari, she throwin a Friendsgiving tomorrow. Y'all niggas coming?"
Herb said while looking between both Von and Durk. Durk just shrugged as Von mugged him a bit.
"The fuck is a friendsgiving."
Von questioned with confusion.
"Nigga ion know, but the girls is cookin food and that's all I know."
He said while raising up his hands.
"I might got plans with family and shit."
Durk said while scratching the back of his head awkwardly. A part of him wanted to go to the friendsgiving, but he knew it might be too awkward with Von and Normani being there. Plus, with him and Von not getting along... it might just be a bad idea all together.
"Family? Nigga we yo family hell you talm bout?"
Herb questioned. Von just sucked his teeth.
"Aye look, y'all boys needa kiss and make up for real. I'm tired of this shit. Cus if y'all don't, I'm going back in that police station and tellin the detectives everything-"
"Aye chill out."
Von said while playfully punching Herb in the stomach. Durk just laughed as he pushed on Herb, causing him to almost fall.
"Aiight y'all niggas lame fa that shit. I hope Normani dumps both yall asses on foe nem."
Herb said while stumbling a bit. Von just sucked his teeth.
"Aye come on folks I ain't got all day."
He began while hopping into his car. Herb and Durk said their goodbyes before Herb hopped into the passenger seat. Von just started up the engine before zooming off down the road.
He couldn't help but think about what the lawyer said earlier. If the police weren't going to let up, that meant he definitely had to keep a low profile for sure.
No more killings. No more running plays all through out the night. He might even need to pull some of his runners back from the streets.
Von wanted to do everything in his power to make sure he was in the clear.

Normani mumbled the lyrics as Love Galore by SZA blasted through out the house. She was currently in the kitchen washing the rest of the dishes that were in Ari's sink. They had spent the last few hours seasoning food in preparation for the Friendsgiving tomorrow.

Ari started to yell out the lyrics as she entered the kitchen. Normani just laughed while shaking her head. She was just so happy that she was able to get Ari to calm down, and back to her regular mood.

She snickered. She was finally done washing the dishes. She went and grabbed a dry rag, wiping each dish down before putting them away one by one.

Ari pointed while eyeing Normani with a smirk. She could feel her cheeks warm up as Ari moved closer to her, staring hard at the necklace.

Ari snickered. Mani just gasped at her comment.

She laughed while Ari waved her hands.
"Aye Im just sayin. He got you iced the fuck out with his initials just so these other niggas know."

Mani said while placing the last dish into the cabinet.

Ari curiously questioned. Normani couldn't stop cheesing as she just nodded her head.

She gushed.
"Girl you should've seen. He had roses all over the floor, with balloons hanging from the ceiling- oouuu and he also wrote me a love note!"

Ari gasped. Mani just continued cheesing.

She pointed. Normani could just feel those butterflies in her stomach as she leaned against the counter.

She said while giggling.
"Awww Im happy for you. Is he coming to the Friendsgiving? He better."
Ari insisted.

Mani said while shrugging. Before anything else could be said, there was a sudden knock at the door.
Ari's eye grew wide as she hopped up.
"That must be Herb!"
She said excitedly while exiting out the kitchen. Mani just chuckled, mentally hoping that it was in fact Herb. She hadn't heard any updates from Von since he left this morning.
She could hear Ari opening up the door before screaming with excitement.
"Damn girl, you missed me that much huh?"
Herb said while chuckling. Normani just smiled as she entered the living room where they were at.
"Hey Herberttttttt."
She teased as he just playfully rolled his eyes.
"Hey Mani, what I said about callin me that?"
He pointed as she just laughed.

Von yelled jokingly as he entered through the door. The girls just laughed as Herb sucked his teeth.

Herb snickered. Normani made her way over to Von as he just grinned in her direction. She shyly smiled as he pulled her into a hug.
"Is everything okay?"
She questioned into the croak of his neck. He just embraced her tightly while humming a bit.
"Everything betta be ok. I don't need the police comin up in here no more!"
Ari snapped while shaking her head. Herb just mushed her with his hand as she sucked her teeth.
"Nah for real we should be good. Steve gon handle that shit like he always does."
Herb said while smirking.
"Steve?"
Normani questioned while pulling away from Von.
"Yeah, that's our lawyer. He been working wit us fa years now."
Von explained. Normani just nodded her head.
"Good, cus I swear I was about to raise hell if they really kept yo ass."
Ari pointed. Herb just looked at her while chuckling.
"Girl you woulda went ta war for me huh?"
He cooed in her face as she smirked.

She said back to him. Both Normani and Von looked at them awkwardly with disgust.

Von began while grabbing onto Mani's hand. She just giggled.
"I actually drove your car here so we might have to drive separately back to your place."
She explained while they headed towards the door.

He said while swinging his arm around her neck. She just playfully rolled her eyes as he kissed her cheek with his lips.

"Aiight... so it go a lil sum like this-"
Von said before pausing a bit. Normani just grinned while watching him. They currently were lounging in his living room on the couch with the TV on mute.
She sat with her legs propped up on his lap. She had convinced him to show her the song that he claimed he wrote this morning before the whole Herb situation. He refused to show her at first, but after giving him a look that he just couldn't say no too, he finally caved in.
"On my mama you bet not laugh at me."
Von pointed while glaring at her. She just chuckled while frowning her face.
"Why you gotta be so mean for? I'm not gonna laughhhhhh."
She giggled. He just sucked his teeth, quickly grabbing her hand and kissing it a few times apologetically.
"Aiight my bad ma.."
He cooed. She just playfully rolled her eyes.
"Vonnnn come on. Let me hear this song."
She insisted. She knew that he was just trying to stall because he was probably nervous. She watched him as he rolled his eyes before looking down at the notepad he had in his hand.
"Gotta drop on this flexin nigga, he from tennessee, I had a thot she be with the shits she told me where he be I say fasho, baby let me know if you wanna eat, she like Von you already know just put yo girl on fleek- that's all I got so far."
He said while placing the notepad down. He looked at her face as she just stared back at him with shock.

She pointed.

She questioned. She watched as he looked off into the distance before looking back at her again.
"The police was questioning Herb today about me apparently."
He began.

Normani said while making a face.
"Because, they asses be so thirsty to get me locked up."
He said while rolling his eyes. Normani definitely did not like the sound of that. It was like a new fear unlocked inside for her as the thought of Von being in jail floated through her brain.
"So... is Steve gonna do anything about that?"
Normani said while raising her eyebrow a bit.
"Yeah that's what I pay him fa. His ass better take care of it."
He stated. He just looked at her, noticing that she seemed a bit worried. Her eyes just looked off to the side as she was in deep thought.
"Watchu thinkin bout beautiful?"
He said while placing his hand on her chin, making her look at him again.
"I don't know I just...."
She mumbled a bit. She sort of hesitated while eyeing him as he frowned.

"And watching how broken Ari seemed because she thought he was gonna be locked up for a while... that situation just made me think about us."
She admitted.
