"What...what is she doing here?" Hyunjin asked, his voice cracking in between, a sign that he was closer to tears than he thought he was
He looked to his side, his eyes met with Ni-ki's. The male was not calm, nor was he terrified. He was confused
He ripped his gaze away from his younger brother as he felt the male's hand latch onto his, trying to calm his older brother
"She is family, is she not?" Mr Hwang answered the male's question, sending him another lifted eyebrow
Hyunjin felt his throat dry out as his gaze met the woman's stern one, sending shivers down his spine
His mind wandered to his childhood, the times he'd spent with the female but they weren't as pleasant as he had hoped they'd be
Hyunjin never had a troubling family. They always had little to no family drama, just a happy little family
That was until his aunt, Hwang Jihyun, waddled into their lives, leaving black ash on the flowers she had destroyed
His anxiousness soon retreated, being replaced with burning anger just by looking at the woman
"She is not family" He rasped, feeling heated tears well up in his eyes
"Oh but I am. I am your aunt. Do you not remember, my little Jin? Or have you forgotten me after you ran away"
"YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHY I FUCKING RAN AWAY! AND DON'T YOU EVER CALL ME THAT AGAIN!"
Ni-ki watched, worry evident on his face as he saw tears stream down his older brother's face, causing tears to well up in his eyes aswell
"Hyunjin, you are not go speak to your aunt like that. She traveled a long way to come see you. The least you could do is sit and be quiet, like Riki" Mr Hwang spoke with a glare that terrified Hyunjin to no words
"Is this the little angel from Shibuya I've been hearing about?" Jihyun cooed, walking closer to the boys as she crouched down to Ni-ki's seated height
"It's nice meeting you. I'm your aunt, Hwang Jihyun" she introduced herself, reaching her hand out for a handshake when Hyunjin reached out and grabbed Ni-ki's wrist, forcing him to stand and pulled him behind him
"Don't you dare come anywhere near him" Hyunjin rasped once again, his gaze sharpening, causing the woman to step back with her hands in the air in defense
"I was just introducing myself. God, you are just like your other aunt, always wanting to be superman and save the day. It sickens me"
With every word she spoke, Hyunjin could feel his anger growing and he clutched harder onto the sleeve of Ni-ki's sweat
"You...you bitch—" the male was soon interrupted when a hand grabbed his shoulder roughly, causing him to let go of Ni-ki
"If you'll excuse us, Hyunjin and I need to have a little chat" Iseul spoke, slightly bowing his head as he dragged the boy out of the room and into the empty passage. The maids were on break outside
Mr Hwang slammed the door shut, letting out a heavy sigh as he turned his gaze back to his eldest son, the son who had disappointed him
"What is your problem?! Huh?!" The male fumed, landing a forceful slap on his face that turned out to be more of a push to the side
"Are you out of your mind?! Do you think it's okay to speak to an adult in anyway you want to, especially your aunt?!" He grunted, landing another push to the male's cheek
Hyunjin kept his head down as his father continued to rough up his face, tears wetting the male's fingers
"You are not a little kid anymore and I will not be treating you as if you are one! You are old enough to know when to shut the fuck up, so act like it. And yet you keep disrespecting your own blood relative"
Hyunjin let out a little yelp as his father grabbed the front of his hair, pulling hard on it to pull his head up
As soon as his eyes met his father's orbs that reeked of disappointment, he broke out into a silent sob
"Why are you crying?! Someone like you shouldn't be crying! Be a damn man, do not cry like a little baby!" His father yelled, landing a proper back handed slapped on the male's cheek
The male's cheek started to sting, knowing that a bruise would develope in the spot his father's wedding ring met with the skin of his cheek
"Instead of abusing your son you could get rid of the reason we are even here" Hyunjin muttered, his tone dark as the male's hand dropped from his hair
"What did you say?"
"I SAID GET RID OF HER! SHE'S THE FUCKING PROBLEM AND YET YOU STILL LET HER RUIN OUR LIVES!" Hyunjin yelled, feeling a sort of relief that he had finally gotten the chance to yell at his father
"SHE IS MY SISTER!"
"YEJI WAS YOUR DAUGHTER!"
Mr Hwang went silent, biting his bottom lip as he had nothing to say
"SHE FUCKING DIED BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T GET RID OF SOMEONE THAT NOBODY HAD HOPE IN!
IF YOU DIDN'T LET HER LEECH OFF OF US, WE COULD HAVE ALL THAT WE LOST BECAUSE OF HER!"
"You have no right to speak, you ran away from all of us!" His father yelled, hitting a certain spot in Hyunjin's heart
"DID YOU THINK I LEFT BECAUSE I WANTED TO PURSUE MY STUDIES IN SEOUL?! I LEFT BECAUSE YOUR DARLING SISTER PUT ME IN DANGER
SHE COULD'VE KEEP HER LEGS SHUT FOR ONE SECOND AND I ALMOST GOT TAKEN ADVANTAGE BY THE OTHER THUGS THAT WEREN'T FUCKING HER!"
"You don't understand anythi—"
"I understand enough to say that she has ruined our lives. I have one less siblings because of her, because some thugs recognized Yeji as her niece. My sister is dead because you failed to protect our family. My sister is dead because you won't let go of someone with no hope what so ever"
With every words Hyunjin could sense the anger inside of his father grow, his eyes twitching as he carefully listened to the male
"She's dead. Yeji is dead because you couldn't say no to the princess of the family. Instead, you let your daughter die, your son run away and the other fall into depression. All because of her, because of you"
Hyunjin's mom lead tears undlessly roll down her face as she pressed his ear against the door, listening to every word Hyunjin had to say
Ni-ki sat on the couch, his shaky hands between his thighs, his head hanging low as he shut his eyes tight, trying to convince himself that it was all a bad dream
"Not only did I lose my twin, not only did you lose your daughter, but what about Ni-ki? Do you even care for him? Or is he just a filler child?"
The silence loomed over the two as they kept a deadly glare, Hyunjin's eyes continously leaking tears as they stung his whites and make them red
"She killed his older sister. SHE KILLED MY SISTER!"
Mr Hwang took a step closer to the male. In a flash, he landed another harsh slap on the male's cheek, landing a back handed one right after
"Don't you ever correlate Yeji's death with Jihyun ever again" he spoke, his tone so deadly, it caused Hyunjin's chest to tighten
Hyunjin went from feeling a different sort of anger to feeling another level of vulnerability and fear for his own father
In a blink of an eye, the male was on his knees, his head hanging lower than before as his shaky hands hung at his sides
The only thing that could be heard was Hyunjin's sniffling and choked up sounds, echoing in the hallway as Mr Hwang stared down at him
"Father please...help us- help mom. We can't...I can't afford to lose anyone else. I can't afford to lose anyone else" Hyunjin begged, stammering on his words as he took in sharp breathes
"I can't...I can't lose my little brother"
At that moment, Hyunjin head snapped up his teary eyes meeting with his father's one that had an unidentifiable look in them
"I'll take my life. Just please...don't let her hurt Ni-ki—"
The two men snapped their heads to the side as Areum, also known as Mrs Hwang, burst through the door with tears staining her cheeks
"That is enough...Hyunjin" She spoke, straightening up her posture
He looked into her pained eyes as she desperately tried to look intimidating and stern when in actual fact, she just wanted Hyunjin to leave with Ni-ki as quick as possible, for their own safety
"Iseul, leave him be. Join inside, Hyunjin and Riki will be leaving" She spoke, her voice cracking in between as she roughly wiped her tears away
The father soared Hyunjin one more look of disappointment before he scoffed and walked through the door, leaving Hyunjin and his mother alone
She immediately rushed over to Hyunjin, dropping to the ground as she pulled Hyunjin's head to her chest, her breathing unsteady as tears fell of the top of the male's head
"My baby...I'll protect the both of you...I promise, okay? Mommy will always protect you"
