Melanie

I wish Dominic would let me pay for something. So far he has paid for the fancy hotel and the fancy food. He's paid for gas. He's paid for tolls and even a single bottle of coke I picked up at a gas station. He won't let me do anything. He insists on changing my bandages which really isn't that bad. I enjoy his help.

He also informed me Emily's birthday has gone and passed. Today was actually my birthday and I know he knows that. It was our second night and we found a place to stay in Ohio. We drove twelve hours yesterday and Dominic again to stay in a expensive hotel again. How much money can this man have. Actually I shouldn't even ask that.

I woke up warm. It was winter and relatively cold. Luckily we could control the heat in the room and it was nice.

I got up after many attempts and headed for the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror for a few moments staring at my reflection. I looked like I went to war. It didn't help that I was wearing one of Dominic's shirts that was absolutely huge on me and covered my thighs. I only had underwear on underneath, but that's all I've ever slept in.

I carefully started lifting the bandage on my right arm. I wanted to do it myself today.

The bandage peeled away from my skin leaving the tingly feeling. I ran my fingers down the burn feeling myself tear up. I can never dance again. I'd never be as desirable in the dance world again.

After I removed each of my bandages, not as gently as Dominic, I stared at the wounds. They looked horrifying. Like from a horror movie. If kids thought I was scary before, they will think I'm terrifying now.

"Melanie." Dominic called from inside the bedroom. I quickly straightened myself up when I heard his footsteps get closer. "Babygirl, what's wrong?" He asked.

"I just want to go home." I said. Dom sighed from the other side of the door.

"Almost." He said. "Let me in, Babygirl." He asked

"I'm just... just going to the bathroom." I responded. I wanted to do this myself. I hated he had even seen me this way.

I attempted to put the ointment on myself, but failed miserably. I began crying. Why can't I do anything myself. I thought my father could do nothing worse than leave me with the scar across my face, I was wrong. He ruined me even more. How can Dominic still look at me after seeing my burns. I look like a belong in a horror movie.

"Melanie, let me in." Dom demanded from the other side of the door. I gave in. I need his help anyway.

Reluctantly I opened the door. Dominic saw the tears in my eyes and pushed his was into the bathroom. "Give me the damn cream." He said and put his hand out. I handed him the bottle with my head down.

I gasped in shock when I was lifted onto the counter. Dominic stood between my legs with a very angry expression. Great.

"Why are you crying?" He asked. I just shrugged. It reminded me of the first time he comforted me. I was unsure than, and for some reason, I am unsure now. "Melanie, please. I hate when you cry."

"How can you look at me?" I managed to get out.

Dominic's eyes softened. He began to apply the cream while he spoke. "You will always be beautiful, Babygirl. I loved you before and I still love you now." He said. How did he always know what to say?

"Everyone is going to be afraid of me." I looked at the burn wounds up my arm. Why can't life be kind to me just this once. Why can't I just be normal. Why did I have to get these burns.

"They won't. They will see the same beauty I do." Dom finishes with my cream and helped me off the counter. "Let's get ready for another long day." He said before leading me to the bedroom.

Dominic stopped at a fancy restaurant in a random town. He still has not figured out it was my birthday, but I don't tell him either. He doesn't need this too.

"Why are we here?" I asked.

Dom's lips tug into a small smile before he helps me out of the car. The tall building is decorated like a Roman temple. Architecture really surprises me sometimes.

Once inside I realize just how fancy this place is. The carpet looks almost untouched. The tables where clean. And everyone was dressed for a party. I felt very out of place. I was bandaged up, wearing leggings and Dominic's sweatshirt, and a pair of worn tennis shoes. I probably looked homeless. Dominic, on the other hand, wore dark blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and biker boots. He looked much better than me.

"Follow me, please." The hostess broke me from my
thoughts. She led us through a back hallway to a open room with a beautiful view of the city. A singular table sat in the middle. "Your waitress will be here in just a second." The hostess said before quickly leaving.

"Dominic, what are we doing here?" I asked again. He only helped me in my chair. He was being oddly silent. "Dom?" I scrunched my brows together.

"Can't I spoil you?" He asked with a tilted head. He looked really cute actually.

"What are you doing? What did you do?" I asked. He just chuckled.

Before I could press him anymore, the waiter comes in. A tall lanky man wearing a suit. How high end was this place?

"What can I get you?" He asked politely.

"Bottle of your finest Cabernets, and a porterhouse steak. Rare." Dom than nods to me. I glance down at the menu and order the first thing that looks good.

"Chicken Corden bleu, please." I smiled and handed the man the menu. After he left Dom turned to me.

"Come here." He demanded with a curl of his finger. I raised a brow in confusion. Wasn't I close enough.

I stood up and went around the table to stand in front of him. He wasted no time in pulling me down into his lap.

"We have ten minutes until he comes back. Anything you want to tell me, tell me now." Dominic said. He sounded as if I wasn't telling him something. What could it be? I haven't kept many secrets from him during my time of knowing him.

"What?" I asked. Dom just shook his head.

"Fine." He sighed and placed a hand on my thigh. His hand tightly wrapping around the flesh. What could I have done?

He kept me still on his lap until the waiter returned with our food. Before he left, Dom told him not to come back unless he goes to find him. What was he doing.

As soon as the waiter had left Dom straddled me over his lap. His hands massaging my thighs gently.

"Nothing you are hiding from me?" He asked again. What was he fishing for? What did he know?

"No?" I said with u certainty.

"Wrong." Dom inches his hands up further. My breathing quickened at the thought of him touching me.

"Dom... what?" I asked again. He only inched further up.

"Nothing special?" He fished again. I thought hard. What hadn't I told him?

Than it clicked. It was my birthday. He knew. He wanted me to tell him.

"I didn't want to much on your plate." I confessed. No sense lying.

"I don't fucking care. You deserve to be celebrated." Dom said with a sharp tone.

"You wouldn't let me celebrate your birthday."
I huffed.

"I don't care about my birthday, only yours." He grumbled.

"Ok, I'm sorry." I pouted. I didn't like when he was mad at me. It made me feel like there was a pit in my
stomach.

"Too late." Dominic grumbled before his hands finally made contact with my core.

Like a switch, his touch turned me on. I was dripping before he even rubbed his thumb over my sensitive bundle of nerves. He's the only person who could ever make me feel that way.

"Now lie back and let me enjoy my meal." Dominic said before and explosion of pleasure washed over me.

And enjoy his meal he did.
