"Is this really necessary?" Asked Steve as he held the dead demogorgon that had been wrapped up in a blanket.
"Yes, it is, ok? This is a ground breaking scientific discovery." Dustin explained throwing everything in the Byers freezer on to the floor. "We can't just burry it like some common mammal, ok? It's not a dog."
"Alright, alright, alright." Steve agreed placing it in the freezer "but your explaining this to Mrs. Byers. Alright? Christ help me out." Steve added struggling to fit it in the freezer.
"What am I suppose to do?" Questioned Dustin
"Get the door, man." Steve ordered
"Alright I got the door." Said Dustin pulling it open wider
"Jesus." Steve exclaimed finally getting it in as Dustin shut the door, they walked in to the living room where Max, Lucas and Marley were sweeping up all the glass from the smashed window.
"Mike would you just stop already?" Asked Lucas as he paced up and down
"You weren't in there ok Lucas." Mike argued "that lab is seaming with hundreds of those dogs."
"Demo dogs!" Dusting corrected as he appears at the door.
"The sheriff will take care of her." Said Lucas
"Like she needs protection." said max rolling her eyes.
"Listen, dude, a coach calls a play in a game." Steve started explaining "bottom line, you execute it. Alright?"
"Ok, first of all, this isn't some stupid sports game." Snapped Mike "and second, we're not even in the game. We're on the bench."
"So my point is..." Steve began pausing "right, yeah, we're on the beach, so, uh, there's nothing we can do."
"That's not entirely true." Said Dustin "I mean, these Demo-dogs, they have hive minds. When they ran away from the bus, they were called away."
"If we get their attention maybe we can draw them from the lab." Said Max
"Clear a path to the gate." Marley finished
"Yeah, and then we all die." Steve said
That's one point of view." Dustin started
"That's not a point of view man, that's a fact." Steve cut off,
"I got it." Mike exclaimed pushing through Steve and Dustin
"This is where the chef dig his hole." Mike said kneeling down and pointing to a page of Wills drawing "this is our way into the tunnel. So you got all the tunnel feeding in here." Mike lead them all to another section of the map. "maybe if we set this on fire."
"Oh, yeah? that's a no." Steve said cutting of Mikes idea
"Then the mindayer would call away his army." Said Dustin
"They'd all come to stop us." Lucas added
"We circle back to the exit."
"Guys?" Steve asked only to be ignored
"By the time they realise we're gone- Marley strayed
"El will be back at the gate." Max finished
"Hey. Hey! Hey! This is not happening." Steve yelled clapping his hands to get their attention
"But." Marley protested
"No, no, no, no, no buts, I promise to keep you shitheads safe, and that's exactly what I plan on. We're staying here, on the bench. And we're waiting for the starting team to do their job. Does everybody understand?" Steve questioned
"This isn't a stupid sports game!" Mike protested
"I said does everybody understand that?" Steve repeated "I need a yes." Everyone ignored him, as suddenly a car engine could be heard outside. Max ran to the window as it drove up the driveway
"That's my brother." Max said "he can't know I'm here, he'll kill me, he'll kill us." The tires screeched to a stop as Steve walked to the front door, pulling it open and making his way outside. All the kids ran to watch out the window.
"Am I dreaming or is that you Harrington!" Asked Billy stepping out the car
"Yeah it's me, don't cream your pants." Said Steve
"What are you doing here, amigo?" Asked Billy
"I could ask you the same thing." Said Steve walking over to Billy "amigo." He added
"Looking for my stepsister, a little birdie told me she was here."
"Huh, that's wired. I don't know her." Steve started
"Small, red head, bit of a bitch." Billy said describing Max
"Doesn't ring a bell, sorry, buddy." Steve said
"You know, I don't know, this, this whole situation, Harrington, I don't know. It giving me the Heebie-jebies."
"Oh, yeah, why's that?" Asked Steve
"My 13 year old sister goes missing, all day. And then I find her with you, in a strangers house. And you lie to me about it." Billy said Pretending to sound worried
"Man, we're you dropped on you head as a child, or what?" Steve chuckled, "I don't know what you don't understand about what we just said. She's not here."
"Then who is that?" Asked Billy pointing his cigarette towards the window." Steve turned around as they all ducked down leaning against the couch
"Shit! Did he see us?" Exclaimed Dustin
"Oh shit- Steve began as Billy pushed him to the ground
"I told you to plant your feet." Billy said walking inside
The door flew open as the kids all stood in the middle of the room.
"Well, we'll, well." Billy stated "Lucas Sinclair, what a surprise. I told you to stay away from him Max." Billy said walking over to them.
"Billy go away." Max pleaded
"You disobey me." Billy said "you know what happens when you disobey me?"
"Billy." Max pleaded again
"I break things." He yelled grabbing Lucas and pushing him back against the wall
"Billy stop, billy stop!" Max yelled
"Get of me you..." Lucas started
"Since Maxine won't listen to me.
Maybe you will." Billy yelled raising his voice as he spoke "you stay away from her. You stay away from her! You here me?"
"I said get off me." Lucas yelled kneeing him billy groaned stumbling back
"So dead, Sinclair. You're dead!" Billy yelled
"No you are." Steve said appearing in the room pushing Billy. And punching him in the face
"Steve!" Dustin and Marley exclaimed
Billy started laughing "looks like you got some fire in you after all, huh?" Billy chuckled "I've been waiting to meet this king Steve everybody's been telling me so much about."
"Get out." Steve said ignoring him billy looked at him before throwing a punch, quick as a flash Steve swung his fist hitting billy back.
"Kick his ass Steve," Dustin yelled
"Get him." Mike added
"Kill that son of a bitch!" Dustin added cheering
"Steve!" Marley yelled
"Billy!" Max also yelled
"Holy shit." Mike yelled as Billy punched Steve again and again
"No one tells me what to do!" Yelled billy grabbing Steve's collar before head butting him sending Steve stumbling back and to the ground. All the kids began yelling as billy walked over to Steve
"You're going to kill him!" Marley yelled tears running down her face, billy began punching Steve's face and all the kids continued screaming and yelling at Billy to stop. Suddenly. Max ran forwards pushing one of the needles Joyce had taken from the lab in to the side of Billy's neck.
Billy stood up and stumbled around staring at Max. He pulled the needle out of his neck and stumbled over to max
"The hell is this?" He questioned "you little shit what did you do? What did you do?" Billy stumbled a bit and fell back
"Shit." Mike says unsure of what to do, max looked over at Steve's bat and grabbed it
"From here on out, you leave me and my friends alone. Do you understand?" Max yelled
"Screw you." Billy mumbled, max bought the bat down in between Billy's legs.
"Say you understand, say it!" Max yelled "say it!"
"I understand." Billy mumbled
"What?" Max questioned
"I understand." Billy said again
Max dropped the bat and pulled Billy's keys out his pocket.
"Let's get out of here." Max said holding the keys up.
The tires screeched as Max drive Billy's camero down the road. Steve lying unconscious in the back with Marley, Mike and Dustin, Lucas sat with Max in the front.
"Nancy?" Steve mumbled looking at mike before reaching his hand to his head
"No, don't touch it." Dustin orderd Steve looked over at Dustin "hey, buddy." Dustin added
"It's ok, you put up a good fight, he kicked your ass, but you put up a good fight." Marley stated
"Ok your gonna keep straight for half a mile," Lucas voice came from the front "then keep straight on Sinai."
"What's going on?" Asked Steve, Max turned around to face him "oh my god." He mumbled
"Just Relax, she's driven before." Dustin says
"Yeah, In a parking lot." Mike argues back
"That's counts." Argued Lucas
"they were gonna leave you behind." Dustin adds
"Oh my god." Steve says again
"I promised that you'd be cool ok." Dustin says
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. What's going on?" Asked Steve as Max put her foot on the execrator "oh, my god. No! Whoa!" Steve exclaimed as the car speed up "stop the car. Slow down!" He ordered
"I told you he'd freak out." Marley argues
"Stop the car!" Steve ordered again
"Everybody shut up! I'm trying to focus!" Max yelled
"Oh, wait, that's mount sinai. Make a left!" Lucas yelled over the top of Max
"What?" Questioned Max
"Make a left." Lucas yelled max griped the wheel and sharply turned taking out a mail box as everyone else screamed.
Max continued driving finally they came to the pumpkin patch, Max skidding to a stop in front of the hole hopper had been down days earlier.
"I told you zoomer." Max says putting the brakes on, they all jumped out the car, Steve slowly followed stumbling before leaning up against the car door.
"Oh, no guys." Steve mumbled as they all pulled on googles and other assortments "hey, where do you think your going?" Steve questioned as Mike walked over to the hole "what, are you deaf, hello? We are not going down there right now. I made myself clear. Hey, there's no chance we're going to that hole, all right. This ends right now." They all ignored Steve and continued carrying the bottles of gasoline towards the hole.
"Steve, your up set, I get it." Dustin begins "but the bottom line is, a party member requires assistance, and it is our duty to provide that assistance. Now I know you promised Nance you'd keep us safe. So keep us safe." Steve sighed and grabbed the bat.
