"What?" I said as I looked at Noah who was standing at the doorway. He placed his bag on the ground and came towards us.
"No," he said again.
"But..." I started but he gave me a stern look.
"No" he sat on the chair beside mine and pecked my forehead before moving my plate of food towards him as he start eating.
I sat there in silence for a few moments until I stood up and stomped my foot on the ground.
"I am going to New York University and that is final. You two can't change my mind" I yelled at them. Caleb gave me a scolding look but Noah only focuses on his food as if telling me his words are final.
"If you don't let me go I will not talk to you ever again," I said to Caleb and he seems a little perplexed.
"Just like the last time where you couldn't even last for six hours and you started talking to us," Noah said nonchalantly while drinking my juice. He reminded me of the last time when I threatened them with that when he wasn't buying me a car.
"But I got my car," I said with a little pride.
"Yeah which you still couldn't drive!" He gave me a look.
"I will cry then," I said and this seems to affect him as he stood up and turned away as if to leave. Whatever happens, they don't like me crying or even letting me. I looked at Caleb.
"Please Kay..." I pleaded with Caleb who looked in thought.
"Muffin you know that we don't want anything bad for you. We just think new york is not for you. The people there are... not like you" he explained but I wasn't having it as I felt tears swirl in my eyes.
"Don't?" he said to me when he looked at my tears.
"Caleb let her be, she needs to realize she can't get everything," Noah said gravely I gave them one look and then I ran towards my room. I locked my room and went towards my laptop.
"I am going to New York, they can't stop me," I said as I used my bank account to pay my fee. I have enough money in my account. I can live on my own without their help. They have to listen to me!
After that, I slept and didn't go out of the room even for lunch. It was near dinner time when a knock came on my door.
"Al" a soft yet deep voice sounded from the opposite side. It was Noah!
"Come on, I know you are awake." He said but I sat on my bed reading my book.
"Come on buddy, I haven't seen you for a week," he said in a small voice and I instantly melt. I stood and went towards the door feigning ignorance as I opened the door and went back to read my book. He sighed and sat with me.
"I brought you new books," he said as he gave me a huge bag with a lot of books. I wanted to squeal in happiness but had to put up the act. If he will realize that I am angry with him then he will go with my decision or even will convince Caleb.
"So we are not talking huh?" He elbowed me lightly but I remained focused on the book. He then sat quietly after that when hood 10 minutes passed I was the one who looked at him to see him already looking at me with his teasing smirk.
"Noe....!" I groaned.
"I am angry at you, you didn't even listen to me" I complained as I shut my book.
"Sorry," he said as he hold his one ear. I removed his hand from his ear.
"Don't say sorry" I don't like them saying sorry to me. I know it's me who is at fault most of the time, sometimes I do act like a child but it's their fault they always put up with my tantrums and mood swings. They are the reason I am spoiled.
"You know that we love you and we don't want you in trouble. You would be away from both of us, we won't be there with you and the thought alone is enough for me to say no" he sighed as he looked away. It's always difficult for him to show his emotions and I can tell right now he is trying hard.
"I know and I respect that but don't you think I am a grown-up now? If not today, tomorrow I would have to face the world. Not every time you two would be there with me." I sighed trying to explain to him. They are too protective of me.
"You would always have both of us with you" he grumbled, I giggled at his words.
"Yeah but... that's not the point," I said.
"Please, you always have meetings in New York so you can visit me now and then. Please!" I begged.
"Please...!" I repeated and at that, he groaned and closed his eyes.
"Fine, but you will listen to us from now on, And no puppy dog eyes shit," he said and I nodded like a good child.
"If we will stop you from something you will stop without arguing, you will have to follow some rules. Deal?" He asked me.
"Pinky promise," I said as I grinned at him.
"Fine now come we have to talk to Caleb, he doesn't seem fond of this idea at all," he said as he stood and went out.
"And one thing more..." I stopped him.
"Yes," he asked turning around
"Uhmm actually I already submitted my fee," I said and he glared at me and then shake his head.
"Alara!" He groaned and then walked out, I ran after him as we reached the dinner table where dinner was already served. We have a chef Ben who makes our food, he is a middle aged man but is very nice and fatherly. He cooks for us for so long that now he is also a part of our family.
"What do you make Ben? It smells amazing" I praised, and he smiled at me.
"Spaghetti and meatballs" he said and my mouth watered. He makes the best food.
"Thank you, Ben, you are the best" I sat on the chair as he served me. Noah also sat down as we waited for Caleb who also came as soon as Ben served all of us.
"I have to go now, Nancy wasn't feeling good today," Ben said as he excused himself.
"Tell her to take care of her, I will come to meet her tomorrow," I said as he smiled and then he was gone.
We all ate in silence with me giving Noah looks now and then. I was motioning for him to talk to Caleb but he was glaring at me to shut up.
"Uhm... Caleb, I was thinking maybe it's not a bad idea and we will visit her every month so it won't be a problem. Don't you think?" He said in one go and I looked at Caleb nervously, he looked at Noah and then at my pleading eyes.
"You two.." He huffed but then sighed.
"Fine but you have to be extra careful, we are trusting you," he said and I stood and hugged him.
"Thank you, you are the best big brother in the whole world," I said happily and then someone else cleared their throat as they raise their eyebrow at me.
"I mean I have the two big best brothers in the world," I said as I hugged Noah. He patted my head and then motioned me to eat which I do so with happiness. I told them about my courses and the books that I have been reading. They listened to me quietly as they always do. After that, we went out to eat ice cream.
Finally, I am going to New York!
