Chapter 05: Supportive Brothers
ALEXIUS NEWTON's POV
"So where on earth is Alexis now?" We heard brother Alexiares said while staring at us and when I say 'us', it was literally me and brother Alexandre who were currently in our eldest brother's hot seat.
"Didn't Alexis just say on our group chat that he'll just visit Jayden's house to get something?" We heard brother Andre said which made me just nod. Yes, and brother Ares also saw that, right?
"Yeah, he did and I also read it but I already contacted the Tolentino's and they informed us that Alexis didn't go there." We heard brother Alexiares said which made my heart skip a beat. Oh no... Could it be that...he's there?
"But Alexis will never lie to us, right, Alexius?" I heard brother Alexandre suddenly said which made my eyes grow wider in surprise. H-huh? U-uhm...
"O-of course. Of course, he wouldn't..." I said as I tried to act normal. Ah, geez. That caught me off guard, brother Andre!
"You know something, didn't you, Alexius?" But I was even more surprised when I heard brother Alexiares asked me that while looking at me seriously. U-uhm...
"No... I don't know, brother Alexiares! I swear that I really don't know anything!" I said. I'm so sorry, brother Alexiares but I already promised Alexis not to tell anyone about his lair. I'm really sorry. I just saw him nod his head and when I thought that he already let me go...
"Okay... If that is so then call him right this instant." I heard brother Ares suddenly said which made me even more nervous. W-what?
"R-right now?" I asked as I could hear my heartbeat beating so loud. Tsk. He can't be serious, right?
"Yes, right now. Right in front of us, Alexius." We heard brother Ares said which made me gulped as I slowly nodded my head before reaching out for the phone which was just on the table.
"Okay..." I said and obviously, I'm so nervous to the point that I don't know what might happen to me next. Goodness... Alexis, you have to do everything I want next time. Tsk. I searched for his number first and called him.
"He's still not answering?" I heard brother Andre ask which made me shake my head.
"Not yet, brother Andre." I said while trying to calm myself. Come on, Alexis. Answer this damn call or I'll be left with no choice but to tell them where your lair is! Argh!
[Hello?] And finally, I heard Alexis answer the call.
"Thank goodness, you finally answered!" I said, which made me sighed in relief. Thank goodness.
"Alex-" I was about to speak so that we could end this already when I suddenly heard brother Alexiares speak in a very low voice.
"Loudspeaker it." Eh?
"Eh?" I asked while looking at brother Alexiares in complete shock. I-is he serious!?
[What's wrong, Alexius?] I was back to my senses when I suddenly heard Alexis suddenly ask me. I just took a deep breath before I did what our eldest brother wanted as I obviously left with no choice but to do this.
"U-uhm... Nothing, Alex...is." I said as I slowly emphasizing his name, hoping that Alexis would get it.
"So where are you now? You told us that you'll just drop by at Jayden's house before going home, right?" I asked but in reality, I of course know where he is right now. And I'll bet all my savings that he really didn't go at Jayden's home but in his lair, the Kiran.
[Calm down, Alexius. I'm fine.] I heard Alexis said which made brother Alexiares furrow his brows. Tsk. I honestly don't know if I should be grateful that this guy hasn't said a single word about where he is right now or I should worry about myself and my safety here? Hah~ You should really treat me more nicely, my dearest twin.
"Fine. But why didn't you contact us? Are you still at Jayden's house right now?" I asked which made my heart beat even faster. Please Alexis, don't you ever speak any single word about the Kiran or else, I could no longer help you hide your future secrets with our brother Alexiares.
[I just dropped by there but I didn't stay long.] Alexis said, which made me sighed in relief. Thank goodness, looks like he gets my warning.
"So where are you now?" I asked once again.
[Just chilling somewhere.] We heard Alexis said which made brother Alexiares heave a deep sigh. Oh no...
"Where-" I said and was about to ask him again when brother Alexiares started speaking.
"Where exactly is that somewhere, Alexis?" Brother Alexiares suddenly asked and for goodness sake! His voice sounds so terrifying right now. Tsk. You should have told us that you'll be sleeping over at Jayden's house instead of just saying that you'll just drop by to get something. Tsk.
[Brother Alexiares?] We heard Alexis said which made brother Alexiares nod his head.
"Yeah, it's me. So where exactly are you now? I'm gonna pick you up right now." We heard brother Alexiares said which made me and brother Alexandre look at each other. Oh no...
[No, brother. I'm fine. Please don't worry too much about me.] We heard Alexis said, but the way brother Ares is looking at my phone right now... It's as if my brother will smash or throw away my phone if Alexis keeps on rejecting him.
"No. Tell me where you are now, Alexis or else, I'll let dad know that you're out somewhere we don't even know." Brother Alexiares said which made me gulp. No way. You have to tell him now where you are, Alexis or else, we'll both have to live in China with sister Anna!
[I'm at Dominic's cafe.] We heard Alexis said which made brother Alexiares nod his head.
"Okay, I'll be right there." We heard brother Alexiares said before they both ended the call. And when I thought that everything's fine now when I suddenly heard brother Alexiares call me.
"Alexius." I heard brother Ares said which made me return my attention to him once again.
"Yes, brother?" I asked.
"Come with me while Andre needs to stay here in case dad suddenly calls." We heard brother Ares said which made brother Andre and I just nod our heads.
"Okay, brother. I'll inform you as soon as dad calls." Brother Alexandre said which made brother Ares just nod his head.
"Thanks. Let's go, Alexius." Brother Alexiares said which made me just nod.
"Yes, brother." I said as I stood up and I picked up my leather jacket.
"Rowan, prepare the car. I'll drive by myself." Brother Alexiares said to our butler.
"As you ordered, sir Alexiares." Rowan said before he let brother Ares walk first before he did.
"We'll go now, brother." I said as I turned to look at my brother Andre who was just simply standing here beside me.
"Yes, take care on your way." Brother Andre said while nodding his head before I went and followed brother Ares.
"Ah, Alexius..." I heard brother Ares suddenly said before he turned to look at me. We are now here at his office as I saw him go there first, maybe to get something.
"Yes, brother?" I asked.
"I'm so sorry for raising my voice to you just now. I didn't mean to do that." I heard brother Ares said which made me just smile as I nod my head.
"It's alright, brother. I understand that you're just worried about Alexis and so do I." I said as I saw him walk towards me and messed up my hair.
"Thanks. Uhm... By the way, Alexius..." I heard brother Ares suddenly said while he was locking his office.
"What is it, brother Ares?" I asked.
"Have you noticed anything unusual about Alexis recently?" I heard brother Ares said as he turned around to face me.
"Like what, brother?" I asked, a bit confused.
"Like he was having a problem at school or whatsoever." Brother Ares asked once again. At school?
"No. I heard that he's doing pretty great in his studies." I said and based on what I've heard from his schoolmates, Alexis has been doing really great and he is actually very famous in Foreign Languages Department.
"Then is he in a relationship, Alexius?" I was back to my senses when I suddenly heard brother Ares asked me that? Eh?
"Alexis? No, I haven't heard nor seen Alexis together with someone at school." I honestly said. And also, if ever Alexis does have one... I doubt he'll hide it from everyone so I don't think he has one now.
"Are you sure?" Brother Andre asked as he leaned on his office's door.
"I'm perfectly sure, brother. Unless, if we could consider Jayden as his love interest then there's a possibility." I simply said, which made brother Alexiares shake his head.
"That's crazy." Brother Ares said while smiling.
"I know right." I said. Of course, that's really impossible since those two were just friends.
"Sir Alexiares... Sir Alexius... The car is already ready." Both my and my brother's attention was suddenly averted when Rowan came.
"Okay. Let's go now, Alexius." Brother Alexiares said which made me just nod as I followed him towards his Mercedes Benz which was already parked outside our mansion.
"Ah, right. If Amara comes home early. Please inform her that I'll be picking up Alexis at Dominic's cafe, okay?" Brother told Rowan which made Rowan nod his head.
"Yes, sir Alexiares." Rowan said before we got inside the car and brother Alexiares drove the car.
"By the way, how's your studies, Alexius?" Brother Ares asked while we're already on the road towards Dominic's cafe.
"Everything's going well, brother." I honestly said which made brother Ares just nod his head. Uhm...
"Uhm, brother... May I ask you a hypothetical question?" I said but to be honest, I really don't know why I suddenly asked him this.
"What is it?" I heard brother Ares ask. Uhm...
"What if... Just what if, okay?" I said and made sure that it was just a 'what if' though I really don't know what urged me to suddenly ask this to my brother.
"What if...even though I already have a fiance..." I said as I tried to think of a better way of saying this... Though I'm not even sure if brother Ares wouldn't suspect me.
"What if I fall in love with someone else? To a man perhaps? What will you do?" I asked, a bit nervous but I can't help it since I'm also curious.
"Honest answer?" I heard brother Ares asked which made me just nod my head.
"Yeah..." I said while still looking at him, focusing on his driving.
"I would make you two separate." Brother Ares simply answered which made my eyes grow wider in shock. What!?
"Huh? Why? Love knows no age and gender, right?" I asked. Wait, don't tell me he's against it? I just saw him heave a deep sigh before answering me.
"Yeah and I'm not really against it, especially our family but the reason why I'll not support you about this no matter what is because you already have Hazel." I heard brother Ares said which made me just nod my head. Ah...
"Oh..." That's the only thing I could say as I get what my brother wants to tell me. He's not against about that but what makes him against it is because I'm already taken and I should be loyal only to my beloved Hazel.
"For goodness sake, Alexius Newton Lin. We asked you whether you were serious about her before you two got officially engaged tons of times already so what made you think I'll support you with your decision?" I was suddenly caught off guard when brother Alexiares suddenly said that. H-huh?
"Let me remind you that Hazel is part of the Jung Family, a family that we shouldn't want to become enemies with." Brother Alexiares said while I'm still looking at him in complete. W-wait a moment...
"Wait... Hold on, brother... I just said that it was just a hypothetical question, wasn't it? Of course, I'm serious with Hazel. What made you think that I'll cheat on her?" I said, assuring him that I'm serious about Hazel and I will never cheat on her no matter what. I just saw him take a short glance at me before returning his attention to the road.
"If it's not you then it's probably Alexis." I heard brother Ares suddenly said which surprised me even more.
"H-huh?" I asked in disbelief. D-did I just exposed my own twin just now?
"It's him, wasn't it?" I heard brother Ares asked which made me shook my head.
"I-i don't know what you're talking about, brother Alexiares." I said as I averted my attention away from him. Oh no, I'm sorry, Alexis. I didn't mean to expose you.
"You know what? The probability of you lying to me right now is 85%. So tell me... It's Alexis, isn't it?" I heard brother Ares suddenly said which made me just gulp as I continued to stay silent. W-well... Not all silence means yes, right?
"So who was it? Is it someone I know?" I heard brother Ares asked once again but I still didn't speak. Uhm... Yes? Actually, it is someone close to us.
"Was it brother Hezekiah, Alexius?" I heard brother Ares suddenly ask, which made me turn and look at him immediately. Eh?
"E-eh!?" I asked while looking at him in complete shock. No way... Does he know?
"Bingo." Brother Ares suddenly said which made my heart skip a beat. So he knows!?
"You're speechless so stop pretending already, Alexius. After all, even before you asked me about this. I'm already aware about Alexis' feelings towards brother Hezekiah." I heard brother Ares suddenly said which surprised me even more. Huh?
"Are you serious, brother?" I asked which made brother Ares just nod his head while still focused on driving.
"Yeah. I may not be the eldest child but I'm still the eldest son in our family so how could I just let this one go?" I heard brother Ares said which actually makes sense.
"So are you against it?" I asked since I don't think hiding will help us anyway since brother Ares already knew about it. Oh, well. At least, I didn't expose him. It's just that, brother Alexiares is smarter than anyone else.
"Why would I? Especially when I've known the person my brother has feelings for... And also, Hezekiah is a great person so I don't think I'll have to worry about him hurting our Alexis." Brother Ares said which made me just smile. He's right about that though. Brother Hezekiah is definitely one of those people I know who has a heart of gold.
"So it's just fine with you, brother?" I asked once again which made brother Ares just nod his head.
"Of course." Brother Ares confidently said, which made me sighed in relief.
"That's a relief." I said which made brother Ares just shake his head while still smiling at me.
"We're here. Are you gonna go inside first or I'll park the car first before we go inside together?" I heard brother Ares asked. Hmmm...? I think I should go inside first to brief my stubborn twin so that our answers would match if ever brother Ares asks something.
"I think-eh?" I said but was shocked to see him here.
"What?" I heard brother Ares ask while looking for a parking spot for his car.
"Isn't that Alexis, brother?" I asked as brother Ares took a short glance at where Alexis was before returning his attention to the road.
"Huh? Can't you recognize our own brother, Alexius?" I heard brother Ares asked which made me just sighed. That's not what I wanted him to see.
"Of course I can, brother but that guy he is talking to..." I said as I pointed out the person Alexis is talking to right now.
"Wait, is that Gabbie?" Brother Ares asked as he finally parked his car.
"It's really him. What is he doing there? I wonder if Alexandre knew that he was here." Brother Ares said while looking at them, talking inside the cafe.
"I think we should inform brother Alexandre about this." I asked but brother Ares just shook his head.
"No. Let him worry about his fiance." Brother Ares said as he unbuckled his seatbelt.
"That's harsh." I said before I unbuckled my seatbelt as we went out of the car.
"No, that's fine. Let them be separated from each other once in a while." Brother Ares said, which made me just laugh as we both went inside Dominic's cafe.
