"Huh?- WahhHhHhh!"
She cries, dropping all her supplies as she stepped on it anyway causing the stick to be lifted right into her face leaving a red mark.
"Ouch, that looked painful."
I say while cringing at just the thought of pain
"Ow ow oW, who put that there?"
She grumbles as she backed off and kicked the hoe to the side before turning to look at me.
As she did that I couldn't help but notice her thick ankles my mind too distracted by them to ask if she is alright.
"AhhYouDidn'tSeeThat! That's so embarrassing..."
She mutters way too fast while covering her face
"Here I go~"
I thought as I got closer to her and softly gripped both her hands to move them away from her face.
"If you hide your face I can't see if you hurt or not~"
I say gently as I could feel a pink filter with glitter and sparkles surrounding us suddenly
"WHERE DID THE GLITTER COME FROM?!?!?"
I think genuinely scared of the illusion powers the girl possessed
Her face started to shade a soft pink colour as she replied
"A-ah don't worry I-I am fine!"
"Is that so? Alright then~"
I say quickly backing off from the powerful foe. No one had warned me of the power this radish possessed.
"Oh well um, who are you anyway? I don't think I saw you before."
She asked her eyes sparkling with stars
"Hm me? I'm just a student here, I usually go home right after I'm done with school that's why you probably never noticed me."
I lie with ease while ruffling the back of my hair
"Really?! I think I would have noticed such a cu- cool person around school! Yes, yes, cool person is what I wanted to say not cute or Hottie, ah what am I even saying?!"
She nervously blabbered her face turning a full red making a confident smile creep on my face.
But that confidence was only to mask my confusion. I wasn't sure if I was doing anything right. I was just ripping off what I saw when those shojo animes appeared on Television at the Minamoto house.
To my surprise, it wasn't Tiara who watched them but Kou late at night. When everyone was asleep and he was finally done with the dishes. I was trapped in a toy box in front of the TV and watched it out of boredom.
Kou who always acted tough and watched only Shonen together with Tiara. Watched cute romcoms late at night while hugging a cushion.
I snapped out of my thoughts as I got closer to her and looked into her eyes
I chuckle slightly before saying
"So you think I'm hot?"
"Wahh! No, it's not like that. Anyway, what are you even doing here? Didn't you say you go home immediately after school?"
She says casually changing the topic making me realize how good she was at this.
"I didn't feel like it today so I took a stroll around the building and that's when I saw a cutie almost stepping on a hoe. I tried to stop her but she stepped on it anyway. "
I say, my smile turning into a teasing smirk as I crossed my arms imitating the love interests from the shojo shows
"AhhhHH, don't ever mention it agai-"
She says as her whole body slowly became red upon realization
"C-cutie?"
She stuttered as I internally panicked if I did something wrong. I wasn't sure if it was good if humans turned fully red I never knew they could change colour. Might they be a subspecies of chameleons?
My thoughts were interrupted by a loud ringing suddenly coming from her bag on the stairs beside the garden.
"Kiss, kiss fall in love~"
The lyrics started playing reminding me of a show I once saw Kou watching
"Oh, that's my phone. I'll be right back!"
She says as she rushes over and crammed through her backpack a few books landing on the ground.
"Right I need information on how to make her work for us. Something so embarrassing she never would want us to reveal it to the world. Or other things that will make her fall into our grasp."
I thought as I observed the books falling from her bag as she found her phone and picked up the call.
"She seems like the type to keep a secret diary. But would she have it in her bag? Nah that's unlikely who would be as stu-"
I swallow my thoughts not intentionally wanting to insult the girly as I saw a pink journal laying beside the school books
"Is it that late already? Sorry, I forgot but I think I won't come today. There's a totally hot guy who is flirting with me, I think he might ask me out on a date."
I overheard her conversation wondering if she wanted me to hear that
"Hm, yea he does have that hair colour. Yes, he does look like that...how do you know this Kou?
What he made a scene before? Do you really think he is that suspicious...fine I'll be on alert. I'll share my position just in case.
Alright then see you later!"
She says before typing something and then putting her phone back into her bag together with the books
I walk over to her with a soft smile and say
"Hey, do you want to join me on my way to the candy store?"
"You're asking me- to join you?"
She stutters flusteredly
"Yep, unless you don't want to get sweets."
I say with a noticeable pout
"No, that's not what I meant. I'd love to go with you, do you know any good sweet shops?"
She asks with a pure smile and rosy cheeks.
A small warmth appeared on my cheeks when she asked if I knew good candy stores. Doesn't she know that Mokke know the best shops for sugary stuff and the best dealers?
But it didn't bother me as a ticklish feeling filled my stomach while speaking
"I know the best ones in town and in the boun- ahum I mean and in the area."
A sweat drop rolled down my cheek as I clumsily covered up my mistake.
"Boundaries?"
She spoke finishing my sentence while looking at me with an irritated face
"Hmm? What do you mean boundary, what's that?"
I question with an amused look and a small tilt of the head.
I couldn't help but think of the Candy-Bar. It was truly the best shop for sweets, illegal stuff and potions but sadly I couldn't take her there.
"Oh, it's ahh nothing, nevermind ahaha!"
She answers while waving her hands in front of her
"Let me just quickly check if I have my wallet with me."
She says quickly rummaging through her stuff but before taking her wallet she sneakily took her phone and that's when I realized I fucked up.
An odd feeling bubbled in my stomach as I realized I didn't have any money. Usually, I didn't need it since as a Mokke I could just snatch whatever I wanted but now I needed to pay.
I quickly took off my backpack and dug through it soon finding a curled-up note.
"I knew this was going to happen to you sooner or later idiot. But no, this isn't for free. You'll have to work at Minka's shop later and I don't want to hear you complain she is already letting you stay at her home for free. I can't ask her to just gift you money we aren't that close with her!"
I read taking out the rolled cash and a bit of white powder fell out of it
"Mint you fricking addict, did you snort sugar again?! But credit to you comrade, you really thought of everything."
I think as I count the money
"I got it! Also, I forgot to introduce myself I'm Nene Yashiro."
She says and I reply cheerfully
"Wonderful meeting you Nene! I'm (y/n)~"
"I didn't expect you to have such a name but it's beautiful."
She says as we both stand up
"Heh, I guess it's a bit weird."
I mumble remembering that my name might not match my Human appearance or maybe it did but she just didn't expect that particular name.
After a decent amount of walking and chatting about our interests. We geeked over our preferences in songs both of us loving Washing machine hearts by Mitski.
It was a cheerful atmosphere around us and yet occasional chills ran down my body.
We arrived in front of the small shop. It had white walls and a pastel-pink ceiling. It had a huge dark wooden door that creaked loudly as we entered the rather empty shop. The tiles on the ground were almost as colourful as the shelves stacked with sweets.
The overwhelming scent of strawberry and vanilla hung in the air as I looked around amazed. Forgetting the discomfort of the guilt I felt.
But was it really guilt I feel or maybe it was sympathy...perhaps something completely different.
"I'm in heaven..."
Nene and I say at the same time before giggling
"So what would you like to get?"
I say drooling as I looked around making her laugh
"How about we get what you want first?"
She says kindly
"R-really?! Then don't mind if I do!"
I answer quickly giving in to the urge of wanting as much sugar as I could get.
In a matter of seconds, my basket was full of a variety of sweets and Yashiro looked at me amazed.
"That was fast!"
She exclaims as I look into her basket and see gummy bears and chocolate
"You do strike me as the type to like gummy bears but I think I know something you might like even more."
I say while she looks at me puzzled.
"Don't worry you'll understand later!"
I say as her cheeks went red and I wondered if she misunderstood something. A weird feeling had been lurking in the back of my mind for a while. Something uncomfortable was burning into me without me knowing.
"WHaT dO yOu mEaN?"
She screeched
"It's a surprise~"
I reply before going to the cashier and asking her if she could pack a slice of strawberry cake in a pink gift wrap.
