In order to prepare for his wedding with Gong Sun, Bai Jintang had already found a church in Copenhagen and bought a cottage nearby, so that he could stay there with Gong Sun a few days each year.
As everyone there were quite young, they did not know any of the regulations. Also, two men were getting married, so they knew even less on how to get things done. As for best men, there were two. On Bai Jintang's side, it was Bai Yutang. On Gong Sun's side, it was Zhan Zhao. None of the family members were there, as Bai Jintang did not tell his family, while Gong Sun had no relatives or other friends.
Everyone from SCI was busy. So were the twins, from ordering cakes and decorating different new houses to ordering meals and booking tickets for the honeymoon. Everything was top-class and ready for the wedding the next day.
This time around, SCI had helped destroy Wo Fu. Leonard and Karula contributed a lot as well. A few days ago, Eugene specially arrived in Copenhagen and airlifted 10,000 red roses to Bai Jintang, covering the entire new house. It was a gift from him and Leonard. Karula was even funnier, as he had a few barrels of wine sent over.
Bai Jintang liked these gifts very much.
Everyone was thinking about different things for the wedding. Some people were busy buying gifts, as they wanted to send something memorable to Bai Jintang and Gong Sun. Only the young kids did not know why everyone was so nervous.
Seeing that everyone was busy, Gong Sun became more nervous. As the wedding was the next day, he felt a tightness in his chest and a shortness of breath. He was also restless. He thought about how he had been single for so many years and was free for so long. Now that he was getting married, he would be living with someone else. Although he was already staying with Bai Jintang, getting married still felt different.
Gong Sun always felt uneasy inside. Besides, the two of them were usually very busy. Being in love was fine, but after getting married, Gong Sun was scared that they would divorce. Thinking of this, his mind became a mess, as he took deep breaths.
During the day, Bai Jintang was busy with his business and preparing for the wedding. When they ran into each other, he tried to get Gong Sun. However, Gong Sun was embarrassed and broke away. He was extremely worried, which made Bai Jintang baffled.
Zhan Zhao sensed that Gong Sun was very nervous, so he grabbed Bai Yutang and said, "Xiao Bai, Gong Sun has premarital phobia."
Bai Yutang raised her eyebrows. "How is that possible? He's a man."
"It has nothing to do with gender." Zhan Zhao glared at Bai Yutang. "Generally speaking, for those who have been single for too long, it's easier for them to get premarital phobia when they suddenly decided to get married."
Bai Yutang could not believe it, as he said, "He won't run away from the marriage, right?"
It was supposed to be a joke, but after saying it out loud, they both frowned and looked at each other. "Would he?" They thought to themselves.
At 12 in the evening, when Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao were ready to go to bed after taking a bath, they heard Bai Jintang knocking on the door next to them. "Gong Sun, open the door, what are you doing in there?"
When Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao heard the sound, they went out and saw Bai Jintang frowning and knocking anxiously on the bedroom door.
Bai Chi and Zhao Zhen next door, as well as other SCI members, also came out and watched curiously.
"What's the matter?" Bai Yutang asked.
"He locked the door. I've been calling him, but he won't open. He's been acting weird all day." Bai Jintang said anxiously. Then, he heard Gong Sun's muffled voice from inside, "We'll sleep in separate rooms tonight."
"Why?" Bai Jintang was puzzled.
"Just do it." Gong Sun said. "I want some time to think calmly."
"Calmly? Shouldn't you be more excited? What else do you need to think about? We're getting married tomorrow." Bai Jintang looked back at Zhan Zhao anxiously. "What's wrong with him?"
Zhan Zhao thought for a moment and said, "I'm pretty sure he has premarital fear."
"What is that?" Bai Jintang frowned and looked at Zhan Zhao puzzled.
"Premarital phobia." Zhan Zhao said. "There are many reasons for this symptom, perhaps because of fear that life after marriage will be different, or because of stress, or because of constantly questioning himself... Whatever it is, it's making him anxious."
Bai Chi blinked and asked, "Oh, is it like the bride played by Julia in 'Runaway Bride' where she ran away right before she got married..." Before he could finish speaking, Zhao Zhen covered his mouth. Everyone turned around and saw Bai Jintang turn pale while gritting his teeth. "Want to run away?!"
Bai Jintang raised his foot, wanting to kick the door open. However, he was stopped by Bai Yutang. "Wait, you can't use force!"
Bai Jintang asked helplessly, "What should I do then?"
"The balcony seems to be open." Zhao Zhen said.
Bai Jintang thought for a moment, then headed into Bai Yutang's room next door. When he opened the floor-to-ceiling window, he was so surprised that he almost cried out. Gong Sun had tied the bedsheets together and hung them out of the balcony. He was currently climbing down. "Does he really want to escape?" Bai Jintang thought to himself. Their room was on the second floor. Although it was not high, Bai Jintang was still scared.
He was even afraid to call out, as Gong Sun might fall after shouting out in surprise. Bai Jintang took off his coat and jumped off the balcony on the second floor. After landing on the lawn, he quickly ran under Gong Sun and shouted, "Sun, what are you doing?"
Gong Sun was stunned. He looked down at Bai Jintang below and wanted to climb up. However, he wasn't paying attention to his hands, which loosened. He began to fall.
"Ah!" Zhan Zhao was startled as he ran to the balcony. Fortunately, Bai Jintang went down first. He raised his arms and caught Gong Sun.
The people upstairs breathed a sigh of relief. It turned out Bai Chi was right, Gong Sun really wanted to escape.
After Bai Jintang caught Gong Sun, he saw Gong Sun become nervous. Bai Jintang shook his head helplessly before going into the room. Gong Sun refused to enter, so he was forcefully pushed in by Bai Jintang, who closed the door behind them.
Everyone outside the door looked at each other, then they leaned against the door to listen.
"You don't want to marry me?" Bai Jintang placed Gong Sun on the bed and asked.
"It's not that." Gong Sun shook his head.
"Then why did you run?" Bai Jintang was puzzled.
"I don't know... I'm agitated." Gong Sun whispered.
"How come?" Bai Jintang asked.
"Aren't you nervous?" Gong Sun asked Bai Jintang.
"Why would I be nervous?" Bai Jintang asked curiously. "I am extremely happy."
Gong Sun was stunned after hearing this. He was less nervous and felt a little better.
"What are you so afraid of?" Bai Jintang sat next to Gong Sun.
"We will live together after we get married." Gong Sun said. "Then, we will need to be responsible for each other."
The more Bai Jintang listened, the more he didn't understand. "So what? We are living together already. I'm marrying you because I want to be responsible for you."
Gong Sun blinked. He felt a little better as he said, "Marriage is the grave of love."
Bai Jintang nodded. "So what? We'll be in a grave sometime in the future anyways."
The twins at the door applauded. "Wow, he's got class!"
People next to them put up their index fingers and said, "Shh."
Gong Sun felt much better. He said honestly, "I didn't really think much when we were just going out. But now that we're getting married, I'm afraid that we will divorce one day. After the divorce, I'll be going back to being single... I'm scared I won't be able to adjust."
Bai Yutang blinked outside the door and looked at Zhan Zhao. "He really does have premarital phobia."
Zhan Zhao raised eyebrows, as if to say he was right.
"Is there any way to treat it now?" Zhao Zhen asked Zhan Zhao.
"It's nothing serious, mainly because of uneasiness. Gong Sun has lived alone for many years and is very confident about his single life. However, he lacks a sense of security as a married couple, so he is very nervous. Jintang is usually not good at expressing himself either, which contributes to Gong Sun's sense of insecurity." Zhan Zhao said. "As long as Jintang says he loves Gong Sun for an entire night, it will be fine."
Everyone turned to look at Zhan Zhao, and then shook their heads together. "No, impossible! Such a scene is too terrifying!"
Zhan Zhao shrugged, then everyone continued to listen.
After listening to Gong Sun, Bai Jintang thought for a moment before asking, "Are you worried that I married you on impulse?"
Gong Sun looked at Bai Jintang and whispered, "Think about it. You usually only do that..."
Bai Jintang raised his eyebrows and asked, "That?"
Gong Sun turned over onto his back and covered himself with the quilt. "Oh well, I'm not as nervous anymore. We can talk about it tomorrow." He muttered to himself.
Bai Jintang also got into the quilt, then grabbed Gong Sun's hand and said, "Should I say I love you all night?"
"Bang!" The sound of a cup being smashed could be heard outside the door. Then, everyone gasped in surprise before rushing back to their rooms.
Bai Jintang said "I love you" for the second time before kissing Gong Sun, who felt helpless. "Why does it feel as scary as saying I'm going to kill you? Do you usually say it in this tone?!"
Bai Jintang tossed about helplessly. "How else should I say it? I will only be saying it to you."
Gong Sun was stunned for a moment. He felt that the tension was about to disappear, so he covered his head with the quilt to sleep.
When Bai Jintang saw that Gong Sun was sleeping, he asked anxiously, "So, are we still getting married tomorrow?"
"Mmhmm." Gong Sun nodded. "Yep."
"You won't run away in the middle of the night, right?" Bai Jintang continued to ask.
Gong Sun reached out and grabbed Bai Jintang's hand. Then, Gong Sun placed the hand against his chest and whispered, "I won't."
That night, it was Bai Jintang's turn to stay awake. At a little past three in the morning, Gong Sun was suddenly woken up by Bai Jintang.
"What is it?" Gong Sun looked at Bai Jintang half asleep. He had been anxious these past few days and was finally able to sleep well.
"Gong Sun, I don't think you've said those words to me." Bai Jintang said seriously.
Gong Sun was stunned for a moment. Just as he opened his mouth, he was covered by Bai Jintang, who said, "Forget it. Tell me tomorrow at the wedding. I'm afraid I won't be able to control myself if you say it now." With that, he covered his head and went to sleep. Bai Jintang saw Gong Sun's expression just now and realised there was nothing to worry about.
Afterwards, the two of them began to sleep peacefully until noon the next day. Suddenly, there was a deafening sound of the door being smashed open. Bai Yutang shouted outside, "Jintang, why aren't you up yet? We're going to be late!"
The wedding ceremony was very simple. After entering the church, Bai Jintang ignored the priest who was ready to ask the questions. He reached for the ring and placed it on Gong Sun, who also grabbed the ring and placed it on Bai Jintang. The forgotten priest wanted to remind the two to wait, but Bai Jintang asked Gong Sun instead, "Would you like to marry me?"
Gong Sun nodded. "Yes, I do. What about you?"
"Of course I do."
After they spoke, they kissed.
Gong Sun asked again, "You won't get a divorce, right?"
Bai Jintang frowned. "If you dare to even mention it again, I will kill the twins."
The twins on the side sucked in a breath of air. Gong Sun was satisfied and nodded. "That's it then. What now?"
"Now..." Bai Jintang looked back at the crowd and said, "Now what?"
Everyone looked at each other, then pointed to the limousine parked outside. "Go to the new weds' bedroom..."
As soon as he heard this, Bai Jintang was in high spirits. He picked up Gong Sun and ran out, while the others quickly followed after them.
A moment later, the church was quiet, with only the priest left, who stood there speechless... He looked at the time and calculated that the entire wedding only took 5 minutes.
Bai Jintang rushed back to the villa with Gong Sun. The bedroom was located on the third floor, which was carefully arranged by the twins. Pushing open the door, the first thing they saw was red roses all over the floor.
Bai Jintang felt very satisfied as he closed the door behind him.
"Wait." Gong Sun grabbed him. Bai Jintang was unhappy as he looked up at Gong Sun. "What's wrong? Do you want to back out? The ceremony is already over!"
"Last night, you told me to say it today." Gong Sun looked up at Bai Jintang and whispered, "I love you."
Bai Jintang was stunned.
The next evening, Gong Sun finally woke up. He looked at Bai Jintang next to him, then went back to sleep.
Bai Jintang looked at him and smiled, "Are you still nervous?"
Gong Sun smiled as he laid on the pillow. He placed his hand on his chin and thought, "Hmm, I think there is another kind of depression after marriage..."
Bai Jintang jumped up, kissed Gong Sun and whispered, "Don't worry, I won't give you a chance to get depressed."
