in the school hallway on the bulletin board where papers and announcements stood.One of them had a poster announcing the newest dance: a winter dance.
"hey look exer! a winter dance!"david said looking at exer.
" oh that's nice. that would be fun."
" who are you planning on taking?" david asked with. a smirk on his face.
" hmm... i don't know... i don't really have anybody in mind yet."
" hey! if we both don't get a date we can go together!"david realizing what he just said,said," o-oh! just as friends of course though!"
exer smiled, and nodded in agreement and then the bell ring.
RIIIIIIING!
" oh! see ya exer!" david yelled while running to class
"see ya."

exer sat at home, thinking about who he would take to the dance with him. his mind immediately thought of david and his beautiful face... and his blue ocean ey-hold up! what am i thinking! he's my best friend... stop thinking like that! besides he wouldn't want to go as more than friends anyway.you heard what he said.
o-oh! just as friends of course though!
just as friends... something about that made exer feel uneasy.he felt weird and all mushy inside like...like...No...no way! he can't! he just can't! he's wrong. it's just because he's happy he made up with david.Yeah... yeah it's cause of that. it can't possibly be that he's in love with him.

" hey David! how are you today?"
" i'm doing pretty good but i don't know who to ask out to the dance."
"0h... i'm sure you'll figure it out."
"do you have anybody in mind exer?David asked
"hmm... not really."exer replied
"i'd probably ask a cute girl to go with me."David said with a grin on his handsome face.
"hey David wanna grab some milkshakes later?"
" yeah! of course dude! who's paying though?"
"let's split it"
"alright fine with me!"

"get in David!" exer said with a smile plastered on his face.
David gets in and exer turns up the music, which is playing def Leppard.
"man this song is good!" David exclaimed reaching the volume on the radio, coincidentally exer also went to raise the volume, and they touched hands.
"o-oh! sorry exer!"
" nah! it's fine." david said awkwardly looking away his cheeks blushing a little but not so much exer could notice.
exer raises the volume to the song and make their way to to milk shake place.once they arrive the both get out of the car and walk toward the milkshake place. once inside they wait in line
" do what flavor are you gonna order?" exer asks.
" hmm... maybe.... uhh mint?"
" i'll get chocolate."
they wait their turn in line and they decide that exers going to order.David gives exer a 10$ bill to pay for his own shake.
"one mint shake and one chocolate please."
" is that it?"
"yeah."
" that's $20. and your name?"
"exer! :)"
exer then hands the cashier the $10 he has and the one david gave him and pays.david and exer go sit at a two person table they both notice all of the couples in the restaurant, drinking strawberry and vanilla or chocolate milkshakes with two straws in one cup. they both sort of feel uncomfortable but just dust it off.
"for exer!"a worker calls out.
exer walks over to grab the two shakes and puts them on the table.
" so did you think of anyone?"david asks.
"huh? for what?"
" for the dance stupid!"
" OHHHH! naw i haven't thought of anybody yet. i think at this point i might go by myself, it's in a week and i don't have a date yet."
"aww exer! don't be like that! i don't have a date either!"
"then... will you be mine?"
david's eyes widened at the question he could feel his face burning up at the question, it was so sudden, but david knew he secretly wanted him to ask it but
he never knew i'd come true.
"o-of - of course! yeah! of course! i'll be your date!" david said still in shock from the question.
exer, realizing what he just said made his face turn red and they both sat in awkward silence for like 10 seconds.
" so... i guess this means we don't need to find dates anymore."
"yeah..."exer sighed still embarrassed about the question.
they both finished the milkshakes in silence, only hearing the sound of people talking and the music coming from the speakers of the restaurant.After they were done they headed to the car in silence.Even the car ride was silent with only music playing.
" thanks exer for the fun time. see you at the dance."
"yeah... uhm... see ya!"

on the day of the dance exer was really nervous. way too nervous to just be going with his friend. but... then again, he asked him to be his date, so mabye they are going as more than friends? he didn't know if david thought if it that way though.

exer pulled up to david's house and david came out the house a minute later.
" hey david! how ya doing?"
"fine.."
exer was concerned for his friend but he was dressed real nicely like if he were going to a wedding but his suit was white and his tie was blue.
"hey david, you alright?"
"yeah i've just got something on my mind right now."
david said with a nervous face, he wasn't even looking at exer.
" what is it?"
" well, uhm... i was just thinking... did. you really mean to ask me to be your date? or go with you as your friend?"
exer looked away since he wasn't sure himself.
"uhh i can't really awnser that, i don't really know either i was just thinking it and it came out."
exer reached for David's hands and held them "but i'd be honored to go as your date or your friend."
david looked at exer and started crying, he had never heard anything so sweet, anything so nice about him.
" ahh! d-day! are you alright?! was it something i said!?"
"no.. no.. it's just.." his voice cracked," i've never heard anything so nice about me..."
exer pulled david into a hug and comforted him.exer held david's face and wiped his tears away with his thumb.
" let's get going day."
" yeah, let's." david said with a warm smile.
