What is that noise?
Marissa must be up and vacuuming the hallways. I sat up feeling an arm around me. I looked down to see Leo fast asleep, his chest gracefully rising and falling. Should I wake him up? Nah
I slowly lifted his arm from around me and searched the bed for my phone. Once I found it I turned my screen on and shrieked
"OH. MY. GOD" I scrambled to get up causing Leo to wake up. We had to be at the reading in 15min. He stretched rubbing his eyes. I guess he didn't know what time it was
"Whats-" he tapped my screen and widen his eyes "shit"
"I can't believe we're gonna be late!" I ran into my room to grab my bag and shoes and headed down stairs. Both me and Leo grabbed our keys and headed towards our cars. Great Leo was parked behind me.
"Hey where are you going?" He yelled out causing me to pause half way getting into the car
"Let's just go together it'll save time" I rolled my eyes and ran to his car. Hopping in and then him speeding out off our driveway. The car ride was quiet. Not even the radio was turned on. We both looked at each other both thinking the same thing. We fell asleep together earlier. Shocking. I think we were both taken back with what happened but I guess it was good thing that we were able to do such a thing given the circumstances.
We arrived at the location just as I pulled down the sun shields to look at my appearance. I need a retouch and bad, I frowned. Leo parked up and headed out, him turning around when he realised I wasn't following him. I looked at him while grabbing my brush to brush out my hair. He ran to the car opened my door
"Ummm McKenna we gotta go, we have 1minute to be there"
"I have to look presentable Leo I'll be there in a second"
"It's just a table read it's nothing formal" with that he shrugged then closed the car door and headed inside.
After a couple of minutes I was ready, brushing through my hair with my fingers then heading into the white building myself. Luckily it was the first door as soon as you walk through the entrance. I glanced at the sign saying reading for Romeo and Juliet and I sighed. This is it
I walked in. Face palming myself mentally as they have already started. I looked around the room watching everyone's face lift and then looking to the front of the room where my dad and Leo was seated. Leo raised an eyebrow
"Good of you to join us McKenna" my dad smiled and nodded. Don't be fooled though, if my dad didn't have to pretend he wasn't my dad than he'd probably be on my back for being late.
"Sorry I'm late me and Leo..." I blurted, Leo sat there biting his lip trying not to send out a chuckle. My dad on the other hand raised his eyebrows clearly not amused
"You can just go sit next Paul" Leo directed and winked. I sighed as I looked around the room. Paul already staring in my direction and waving
"Hey I'm Paul, you're knight in shining armour" he joked, I just smiled already flustered as I tried to bring everything out of my bag. My book. Where is my script. No. No. No. I scanned the room everyone seemed to have theirs. I think I could cry at that moment.
"Ok everyone, let's get back to it. If you're not aware this is our leading lady, Juliet. McKenna Rae Roberts" some smiles and some just wasn't that phased. What a great first impression
My dad nodded at me with a small smile then gestures to what seems to be the guy playing Tybalt. Everyone had there scripts in there hands besides me. Can I remember my lines? I'm going to have to at this rate
I snapped out of my thoughts looking across the room seeing Leo already looking. He raised his eyebrows as if he was questioning where my script was. I shrugged and placed my head into my hands. I felt a light nudge to my side
"So are you and Leo together?" I shook my head at Paul
"No no nothing like that, we hate each other, at least we used to I think. He's actually somewhat a stepbrother only my dads no longer married to his mum, I guess he's not a a stepbrother, I don't even know" I couldn't really explain the situation between me and Leo. It was strange
"Riiiiight, he just keeps looking over at you" he said then sitting back to read along his script. He definitely didn't need to know that extra information but I wasn't going to let people think we were together. Ew. Leo was only looking at me because I forgot the one damn thing I really needed for this reading. What am I supposed to read?
I heard Paul start talking next me, it must be his starting scene which means mine is coming up next. Think McKenna think what are your lines
"Please excuse me I just have to take this important call, continue on, Leo will be here to assist" dad walked out and I let out a sigh then bringing my hand up to bite on my nails. I'm so fucked. You see I would ask the others to share, but they all looked like they needed it. I guess they couldn't get their heads wrapped around the William Shakespeare dialect either.
A book suddenly appeared in front of me breaking me from my thoughts I looked up to see Leo walking back to his table then sitting down. You angel
I flicked through the book and found where we were luckily there was only a page left until my scene. I smiled at Leo appreciating the fact he's lent me his script, I mean I guess he didn't really need it. He sent me a wink and smirk making me feel relaxed and warm
"JULIETTTTT" my lines were coming up, I took a deep breath and recited my lines
3hrs later the reading was done. I actually could see where my dads perspective of the movie was going. I suppose he wanted to make it more modern. I managed to get a good conversation out of Paul Rudd. He was actually really cute. He gave me some kind of golden retriever energy, he was just so sweet
"Have you met the others yet?" Paul started as everyone packed up to leave
"Well, no actually, I did rock up late" I giggled
"Well come on then!" He said pulling my arm.
"No Paul it's cool, I'll meet them soon, they look eager to go" I've already had enough today
"We're actually all going out for drinks, you know as some sort of celebration you should come" I smiled. Ever since that frat party my social battery has been really low lately. I couldn't even be bothered leaving the house
"You ready to go" all of a sudden Leo was by my side
"Hey man, this movie I'm telling you its going to be good! The concept of movie is brilliant, genius even"
"Aaaah it's all Baz, he's been working on this for a while I just had small ideas here and there nothing big" I stood there while they chatted. I didn't really want to go back with Leo but I didn't want to go out for drinks either but I guess going home with leo is my only option
"You should come Leo, I'm trying to get young McKenna here to come along"
"Hmmmm nah I think I might go home myself, all this reading is making me exhausted" he gave me a glance and I nodded
"Yeh, I'm might come with you" I states, Paul giving us a glance between the 2 of us
"I mean like you can drop me off at home" I chuckled awkwardly
"Ok you guys are lame but ok, I'm telling you though as soon as we hit Mexico we're all going out" he seemed so excited, he did have more experience in the acting world I guess meanwhile I've only been in a couple and was so determined to focus on filming once we arrive on set
"We'll see" both me and Leo said at the same time looking at each other both knowing I out of all people should not be out partying after my dads little freak out on my last Wednesday night adventures
Paul laughed and bid us our goodbyes. We walked out in silence and hopped into his car. Driving home was quiet
"Thanks for lending me your script" I smiled him winking again sending me butterflies in my stomach. I couldn't shake the feeling, maybe it was because we were finally talking somewhat normally to each other.
"My dad would've brought on a storm tonight if he found out huh?" I laughed causing him to smile
"Yeah, I think i was stressing about it more than you were to be honest, it's awkward having to sit there while he's yelling at you.... "
"Well get used to it. I seem to be doing everything wrong these days I think I hear him yell more than talk to be honest with you" I furrowed my eyebrows. It was true though, I feel like I'm constantly walking on egg shells around him. I got a bit quiet
"You hungry?" I nodded in response. We decided on McDonalds, driving into the drive through to order. I guess there were too many people in the restaurant for us to go in without Leo getting spotted.
"Hi, what can I get for you" a girl said through the intercom
"Hey can I please order a large quarter pounder meal with a coffee frappe, a large Big Mac meal with a coke and 10 nuggets" I smiled at the thought that Leo still remembered my order.
"That's what you wanted right?" Him saying with a slight worried expression licking his lips in the same pattern he's always done since he was little.
"I guess that will have to do DiCaprio"
"Oh sorry, I should've asked you can have my big Mac if you want? Or I can get y-" I giggled
"It's fine, you dork, I can't believe you remembered my order"
He grinned, whilst driving up to the next window.
"You haven't changed one bit have you Kenna" him smirking. Oh I've changed a lot believe me. We got our food and started to pull out of the car park
"WAIT" he came to complete stop. Almost sending our food flying
"Whoops" I smiled
"What is it?!"
"I just need to grab something for Marissa for dinner it's almost 6" I pouted
He rolled his eyes and parked up. I thanked him running into the restaurant. I ordered Laylas dinner and sat down in the waiting area looking out the window out to Leo's car. He was on the phone
After waiting 20 minutes, I walked out and hopped into the car
"Yeah, miss you too, but you're back soon right.... See not long now.. ok... I love you too bye" Leo then hung up
"Ooooo mommas boy" I teased popping a fries into my mouth
"Actually no it wasn't mom" he said focusing on the road, me too busy devouring my fries and doing my happy dance. Leo started laughing
"It was actually my girlfriend as a matter of fact" he grinned then licked his lip. Turning his attention back onto the road
I paused frowning. I wonder who his girlfriend was? I wonder if this is why he acted different to what he was before? If so bless this woman. But, but what if it's someone I know? I shrugged off the thoughts, who cares
"You ok?" Leo turned laughing again. He was actually happy as Larry this afternoon.
"You just shrugged what are you thinking?" He questioned. Gosh we fell asleep together earlier today. Would she be ok with that? I sure as hell wouldn't be happy if my boyfriend did. But it was completely harmless I just fell asleep and I guess he did aswell, it's not like we were planning too
"You're blanking out again? What's up" I stayed silent taking a sip of my drink
"Alrighty then... well we're home, have been the last 5 minutes" I faked a smile. I was so deep in this loophole that I didn't even realise we where we were
"Well... I'm - gonna head inside now" he got up and closed the door. Walking into the house. I suppose I should get up as-well considering I had the food
I need to know who his girlfriend is. I thought to myself slamming the car door. I don't know why I'm even thinking like this I don't really care. But I should care right? She might be around a lot since Leo's living with us. What if she's a bitch because I've slept in the same bed as Leo? Again completely harmless but what if? I heard Leo asking if she was back soon so maybe she'll be around soon. uuuuuhh I wish I could just switch my brain off. I'm just over analysing everything I'm over it
