You walk outside and see Vance waiting in his moms truck listening to some music.
A smile spreads on your face as you walk up to the car.
"Hi" you say as you open the the passenger side door.
"Hey" he pauses
"You look...really go-"
"Look nice, you look nice" he spews out putting his eyes down and slightly curses himself for what he had just said.
He starts the car and starts to drive.
"Sooo, what's your favorite horror movie?" You ask breaking the silence.
"Uh, probably the shining or Halloween" he says slightly smiling while turning his head to you.
"What's yours?" He asks turning his attention back to the road.
"Hmm I don't know, I like Children of The Corn and Poltergeist though" you say smiling at him.
"What's Children of The Corn?" Vance says confused.
"What?!?" "You've never seen Children of The Corn?!?"
"Vance omg, ok this weekend your coming over and watching it. No questions asked" you say touching his arm.
"Ok cool" he says his face slightly pink.
You arrive at the drive in, pay for your tickets and then get some snacks.
You grab popcorn and drinks and head back to the truck.
You place the popcorn and your drink down as you hop into the bed of the truck.
Vance goes into the back seats of the truck and grabs multiple blankets.
"You cold?" He says walking around the side.
"Yeah actually" you say grabbing the blankets from him.
He gets in the back with you as you situate yourselves the Exorcist starts playing.
As your watching you feel Vance scoot slightly closer to you. You shift your eyes as you feel his hand start to move ontop of yours.
Instant butterflies♡
You could feel his hand slightly shaking. You look to to him.
You see him quickly turn his head away from facing you and his cheeks partially red with a small smile on his face.
You grab his hand and interlock your fingers with his. You feel him look back at you. Without a word you just smile.
About halfway through the movie you speak again.
"Vance?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm still cold" you say looking at him
"Oh uhh" "here" he says taking off his jacket and putting it around you then opening his blanket for you to move closer to him.
You move over to him and lay against him woth your head on his shoulder.
The first movie ends and Vance leaves to go to the bathroom before the second starts.
As he's gone you hear teo people fighting a few vehicles down from you.
"I feel bad, it's not her fault her mom is like that"
"So what Claire, she's a slut anyway"
"No she's not she was my friend and it should have stayed that way, im not doing this anymore Tyler. It's not right"
You hear a smack and hear Clair let out a gasp.
"fuck you, you know I'm right Claire."
You hear Claire start to silently cry
"Go cry to your fucking daddy them bitch"
"Fuck you, once Gwen gets back were fucking leaving"
"Whatever then go, do whatever the fuck you want"
You didn't hear anything else after that besides a car screech away a few minutes later.
Not to much time after Vance comes back with some candy.
"Here catch" he says tossing you a bag of sour keys as he gets back into the bed of the truck.
"Thanks" you say smiling at him as you open the bag and eat one.
A few minutes later the second movie starts.
You both settle back to how you were before and Vance puts his arm around you.
After the movie was over you got back into the truck and started driving back.
"Hey, do you wanna stop for a smoke?" Vance says.
"Sure"
Vance pulls into the parking lot of a playground and gets out.
You walk down to a small pond and sit down on the grass near the water.
Vance pulls a pack of cigarettes and a lighter out of his jeans pocket.
Lighting his smoke he takes a drag and hands it off to you.
You share the smoke and talk for a bit.
It was about 11:30 now and you both decided it was time to go home.
Vance drives you home and gets out to say goodbye.
"Thanks for taking me tonight" you say as he walks over to you.
"Thanks for agreeing to come with me" he says giving a soft smile.
You hug him, and feel him stiffen but then relax as he wraps his arms around you and hugs back.
You lean your head up and kiss him before letting go and heading to your front door.
"Bye vance" you say giving a small wave before going inside.
You hear the truck leave as you are putting away your shoes.
You then see your grandma walking down the hallway.
"Have fun?", she asks with a warm smile
"Yeah it was really fun" you say walking to her.
"I'm glad" "what movies were playing?" She asks as you walk to the kitchen.
"The Exorcist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre" you say as you get a cup of water.
"Ahh good ones your grandma says patting you on the back.
"Well I'm off back to bed, goodnight honey" she says giving you a kiss on the head then walking upstairs.
You get some more water and go up to your room aswell.
As soon as you get to your room you close the door and plop onto your bed squirming with joy. You laid with Vances jacket.
You eventually got up and changed but kept Vances jacket on and laid back down and fell asleep.
Maybe Becca was right when she said being at the drive in, in the back of a truck was romantic....
