Chapter 28: Raindrops
Victoria Abbel's Point of View
I woke up feeling refreshed and hopeful. I'm still naked while lying on his bed. Tanging comforter lang ang tumatabon sa katawan ko. Tumingin ako sa tabi ko at hanggang ngayon ay natutulog pa rin si Trevor.
We didn't do it once, or twice. We actually did three rounds before we collapsed in bed and decided to sleep. I'm still grinning from ear to ear. Trevor was inside of me and I want to feel him again but we were both tired.
Dahan-dahan akong lumapit sa kanya para hindi siya magising. I leaned forward and stared at his sleeping face.
His mouth is pressed into thin line, kaya kitang-kita ko ang pagka heart-shaped ng kanyang labi. His lips are really pinkish and when he's kissing me I can feel their plumpness. His eyebrows are really thick and when he frowns, naeemphasized talaga ang kilay nito. And his eyelashes are kinda long, seems like he got eyeliner on. I love his eyes.
I removed some strands of his hair on his forehead and push it to the side. And when my hands get in contact with his skin, he moved a little. Kaya naman inilayo ko ang aking kamay at piniling pagmasdan na lang ang kanyang mukha. His nose is rather proud and perfectly sculpted. And his chiseled jawline seems like he came from a painting.
I thought I wanna move on from him but I ended up being naked in his bed. Kakaiba ang saya na nararamdaman ko ngayon. I can feel it in my bones. It was fantastic, a great feeling I want to feel again. I can feel it, Trevor is starting to open up to me.
After another five minutes, I decided to get off the bed and started to wear my used clothes.
Napagpasyahan ko na rin lumabas ng kwarto niya at iniwan si Trevor na hanggang ngayon ay mahimbing pa rin na natutulog. Naabutan ko naman ang mga kabanda niya na kumakain sa labas at nagkatinginan nang makita nila ako.
They're all eyeing me suspiciously.
"What? Ngayon lang ba kayo nakakita ng maganda?" Sabi ko sa kanila at nag cross arms. The four of then frown as if I made a joke that they can't comprehend.
"Hindi ka ba nabibigla sa sinasabi mo, Tori?" Sabi ni Lucas na ngayon ay kumakain ng burger.
"Hindi naman. Ikaw ba?" I crossed my arms and looked at him, daring him to talk back. But he just let out a deep sigh and shifted his gaze to the burger he was eating.
"Did you do it?" I almost choked from Henry's question. Tiningnan niya na parang napaka inosente ng kanyang mga mata at parang hindi big deal ang tinatanong niya.
"Of course not, Trevor is a private person. Do you think he will do it with Tori? We don't even know if he kissed a girl." Binaling ko ang atensiyon ko kay Elijah. My face suddenly reddened from embarrassment. Totoo pala talaga na makakaramdam ka ng matinding paginit ng mga pisngi kung ganitong mga bagay ang itatanong sa'yo.
"Leave her alone, idiots," Leo said and gave his two friends a tap on their heads.
"It's clear as daylight that they didn't do it." He added.
"Paano mo naman nasabi, Leo?" Henry asked.
"Parang hindi mo naman kilala si Trevor."
"Don't tell me you made a bet if we both did it?" Sabi ko sa kanila na ngayon ay tumataas na ang aking boses. They can't do that!
"Of course not. We are not that petty. We're just curious." Lucas answered and I pursed my lips. I glanced over at Trevor's bandmates as they waited for my answers.
"I think they did it! She's rather overjoyed." Henry said, who's too invested in this topic.
"Bakit ba ang chismoso niyo. Hmpf." I muttered in disbelief.
"So I know if my sister still has a chance with Trevor."
"Oh," That word slipped into my mouth before I knew it. So his sister, the rumored girlfriend from two years ago, like Trevor.
I said nothing which seems like an eternity. Pondering the thought of his sister being in love with Trevor. And when I collected myself, I looked straight at Henry, a little irritated since he looked like his sister. Nakikita ko talaga ang kapatid niya sa kanya.
"Well?" Henry asked, still waiting for me to go on.
"Well, your sister doesn't have a chance in the first place even if I am out in the picture." Those words felt so foreign in my mouth.
"Besides, sainyo na mismo nagmula na kilala niyo si Trevor. He's not someone who'll shove his face anywhere." I tried to be confident as possible. Because I can't speak on behalf of him, there's this initial panic that I felt when I learned about Henry's sister. And then it occurred to me, I am not the only girl who is after his attention.
Pero ipinagsawalang bahala ko na lang ito at kinuha ang atensiyon nilang apat.
"Okay listen up, gentlemen. I'll feed your curiosity. We—," Bago ko pa sasabihin ang dapat kong sabihin ay bigla na lang bumukas ang pinto sa aking likuran kaya napatingin kaming lahat dito.
"Victoria, I think it's best if you keep your mouth shut and get ready to go." It was Trevor. He's already wearing his clothes and his hair is fixed as if I didn't run my hands through it earlier. The four of them groan from frustration. And when our eyes meet, there's something from it that I can't pinpoint. Parang may gusto siyang sabihin pero mas pinili na lang niyang manahimik.
"It's getting late and I have to bring you back to your house." Baling ni Trevor sa akin. My cheeks went pink to red when I remembered what we did in his bed. And when he gave me a meaningful look, I am certain that we have a long way to go.
And before we left, naka sunod ang bawat tingin nila sa aming dalawa. Kaya bago sumara ang pinto, I stick my tongue out at then as I saw the four of them groaning. Mamatay sana sila sa kakaisip kung anong ginawa naming dalawa. Bigla na lang akong natawa sa aking isipan.
And when we reached his car, he was silent.
Goodness gracious, matutuyua ka talaga ng laway kapag si Trevor ang kasama mo. He will just speak if he needs to and most of the time he rather listens to the noise of his surroundings.
I want to infiltrate his mind and know what he's been thinking. If only I have the chance. Hmpf.
"Why are you so quiet?" Lakas loob kong tanong sa kanya habang sinimulan na niyang pa andarin ang kotse.
"I'm contemplating," I almost bolted out from my seat when he chewed his lower lips, and with his thoughtful eyes? It's so hard not to fall in love with him.
"About what?"
"About what to say to you."
"And why is that? Bakit kailangan mo pang magisip pwede mo naman sabihin kahit anong gusto mo."
"Okay,"
"Okay. So?"
"Tori, why are you always curious?" Napailing siya habang sinasabi niya iyon. And I chuckled from his statement.
"I'm more curious about people," I told him. And that's true.
"And besides, you'll never have your answers if you are not curious," I added. I know I got a point. With a defeated sigh, he answered.
"Fine," Trevor stared at me in disbelief, then cracked a faint smile.
"I thought you already left when I woke up but I didn't realize you were just talking to my bandmates."
"Don't be silly. I would never leave without you." Natatawang sabi ko sa kanya. Dapat pala ay hinintay ko na lang itong magising at hindi na lumabas ng kwarto niya. I giggled from that thought.
"Don't worry Trevor, I know we've already done it. But I'm not going to pressure you to be in a relationship with me. I'll wait for you." I think it's futile if I pretended that I no longer like him. Halatang halata naman ngayon na may pagtingin pa rin ako sa binata. And I know he's not naive not to notice. Bigla na lang ulit kaming napatigil na dalawa. Even his car stopped because of the stop light. I gave him a smile when he looked in my direction.
Trevor's lips are parted, trying to figure me out. I stared back at him longer than necessary before shifting my gaze outside the car windows.
"It's raining." Sabi ko sa kanya habang ibinaba ang car window. I looked back at him and his eyes widened a little when he knew what I am about to say.
"That's not a good idea, Tori." I wrinkled my nose and smiled. He narrowed his eyes at me.
"C'mon Trevor! Don't be such a pussy. See you!" Binuksan ko ang pinto at lumabas ng kanyang kotse. The rain started to pour over my head.
"Are you always been this cheeky? Oh, God! You'll be the death of me." That's the only word I heard from him and look how he parked his car on the left corner. Minutes later, I saw him going out in his car and jogged his way toward me.
Parehas na kaming nababasa ng malakas na ulan.
"You are such a kid." He commended. The raindrops pour in his hair, kaya naman ang buhok niya ay bagsak na bagsak ngayon sa kanyang noo.
"Bakit? Ngayon ka lang ba naligo sa ulan?" Natatawang sambit ko sa kanya dahil halata pa rin sa kunot ng kanyang noo na hindi niya nagugustuhan ang paglabas niya sa sasakyan. But later on, the emotions on his face lifted. Raindrops started to flow on his handsome face.
And from that moment, I realized that Trevor is so different from Kalev. Buong akala ko kasi ay magkaparehas lang itong dalawa. Trevor is naturally quiet and reserved. Kalev on the other hand choose to be quiet. A little menacing and intimidating, siguro ay sa nature na lang din ng trabaho ng pinsan ko.
When it comes to Trevor, he's self-sufficient. He may be quiet but he got the loudest mind. Dahil sa mga nagagawa niyang kanta, doon ko lang napansin na na marami din itong iniisip. He's drenched in creativity and I adore him for that.
And now we're both drenched in the rain, I felt so free. Now that he's with me. And I really appreciate this moment. Kasi kahit ayaw niyang mabasa ay sinasamahan pa rin niya ako.
"Happy?" I heard him asked when I tried running on the pavement, drenched from the rain. Tumango naman ako sa kanya dahil nageenjoy talaga ako ngayong gabi. And when he runs his hands through his wet hair, there's something odd in his eyes. Something fleeting and elusive.
"By the way Victoria, I want to ask you a question." Napataas ang kilay ko sa sinabi niya.
"Here?" Tukoy ko naman. Bakit ngayon pa niya naisip na magtanong sa akin. We're in the middle of the street, wet from the rain.
"Yes,"
"Okay, what it is?" With a loud sigh, he asked.
"Why me? Why do you like me so much?"
"Why not?" I felt the corner of my mouth twist when he started asking me those questions.
"You don't know about me,"
"And that's why I am willing to know about you. If you only give me a chance."
Trevor slowly turned his head to face me as he closed the distance between us.
"Everyone say I'll find another, but it's you that I like Trevor. I waited for you so I can be worthy of you." Isn't it right? I want to prove him that I can wait for him. Na kaya ko maghintay para sa aming dalawa. Ano pa ba ang kulang? Kasi kahit hanggang ngayon ay kita ko pa rin maintindihan ang pag iling niya sa sinabi ko. Why is he disagreeing with me.
"Victoria, listen to me. You don't have to wait for me. You don't have to wait for anyone and that's the girl who's worth it."
"What do you mean by that?"
I almost choked on my own words, shocked that I can still manage to speak. And I'm a little surprised that he's speaking such things to me.
Isn't it that waiting makes you worthy? Isn't this what we've learned through our teenage years? But why is he telling me otherwise?
I know what he's trying to say, I am not that stupid not to know.
The woman who is worth having won't wait for anyone at all.
