Scott's POV
My phone rang. I pulled it out and saw that Kirstie was calling. Then Kevin called. Then Avi. I started a group text.
Me: Guys I can't answer all these calls at once
Kirty: YOU'RE IN THE NEWSPAPER SCOOT
Kev: Congratulations!
Avriel: You saved a life man.
Me: I didn't save his life, Avi, the doctors did.
Kirty: They never would've known if you hadn't called them.
Kev: The guy you saved said himself that you saved his life.
Me: Mitch said that?
Kev: Yeah
Kirty: Yeah
Avriel: Yeah
Me: Mitch is weird, y'all. He keeps going on and on about his wings.
Avriel: Wings? Is he a dragon?
Me: Unless dragons have feathers.
Avriel: Some do.
Me: Pretty sure he's not a dragon, Avriel
Kirty: Then what is he?
Me: Not sure
My fingers hovered over the screen. The others are silent. I decide to break the silence.
Me: I think he's a fallen angel or something
Kirty: Really?
Me: I think so. Not 100% though
Me: The receptionist told me he hit a note high enough to shatter glass
Kev: And this supports your theory....how?
Me: That's practically impossible. He couldn't be human if he could do that AND survive a five-story fall with just a couple of fractured bones
Avriel: Point
Me: Plus, he was wearing a white robe when I found him
Me: And that guy can SING
Kirty: Oh?
Me: I heard him singing when I came to visit him in the hospital. I think he's a countertenor
Kev: Whoa
Me: Doctor Carr had tears in her eyes
Again, I hesitate. They can probably barely believe me as it is. Can I really tell them he's been dead for 2 years?
Me: And another thing...
Kirty: Ya?
Me: Doctor Carr told me that Mitch Grassi, the guy I saved, was killed two years ago in a car accident
It took a solid five minutes before anyone replied.
Kirty: Scott, I want to believe you, but that's just CRAZY
Kev: I have to agree
Avriel: Sorry man, but it seems kind of impossible.
I opened up Google and looked up "Mitch Grassi."
The top result was his obituary.
Mitchell Coby Michael Grassi, Mitch to his friends, was born on July 24th, 1992 and hails from Arlington, Texas. He spent most of his life surrounded by music and other fine arts. He's a well-known vocalist and moved to Los Angeles after graduating high school to build upon his name. But his dreams will never be accomplished as he was driving late Friday night when he collided head-on with a drunk driver. He was killed on impact. He was 20 years old.
I took a screenshot and sent it in the group text.
Me: Proof
Avriel: okay it's hard to argue with that
Kirty: Then how is he here?
Me: I don't know. I would ask him but he has amnesia.
Kev: keep us updated, okay?
Me: I will.
I ended the group text and sighed.
