the two were sprinting through the forest, hand in hand.
it was like a scene out of a drama.
laughing like no tomorrow, they both weaved through the trees, jisung letting chenle lead the way to wherever he was taking him.
jisung was now deeper in the forest he had ever been, and it was beautiful.
chenle suddenly stopped, face-to-face with a tree.
"you probably can't see this, but this tree is glowing white in my eyes. trust me when i run full pelt at it"
"okay... i trust you."
chenle turned around, gave a warm smile to jisung which seemed to warm his heart, and proceeded to really run full pelt at the tree.
he was dragging the younger with him, and jisung really trusted him, so he didn't brace.
instead he was met with a flash of light which honestly hurt his eyes and he closed them, but felt the soft brush of long grass against his shins.
this grass was not there before striking the tree.
realising something magical was at play, he was nervous to open his eyes back up.
"open your eyes, ji. you really won't regret it."
and so he did.
"holy fuck"
the place they were now in was everything jisung could have ever dreamed of. it was heaven on earth.
he stared around at the picturesque scene of trees surrounding a clearing with luscious long grass, flowers and fruit trees, neatly arranged into rows.
in the middle of this clearing was the most cozy-looking cottage he could have imagined, with vines climbing the walls and making little flowers sprout off the roof.
he turned to his right, seeing a small, well-kept pond with a family of ducks inhabiting it, frogs bounding from lilly pad to lilly pad.
he smiled at the sight of the ducklings frantically trying to keep up with their mother, and saw one jump onto her tail.
he now turned to his left, met with a path out of the clearing which led to something he couldn't see.
he also observed a large flower garden, with all the prettiest flowers you could imagine, and concealed a healthy vegetable patch.
the whole thing seemed to be glowing a gold colour, like it wasn't real, but it is.
the grass seemed to be sparkling unnaturally in the light of the sun, and it was swaying elegantly in no wind.
"so, what do you think?"
"this place is... unreal. i'm speechless. it's heavenly. i get why you go here every night."
"it really is everything i could have wanted in a place. in these woods, there are so many other wonderful places, but this is what i call home. and i never thought i would ever share it with anybody else."
"was it never lonely?"
"not at all. there are others living here that i cherish. watch this... guys i'm here!"
chenle raised his voice, and they waited for a few seconds.
suddenly, out popped three flying creatures from the path out of the trees, speeding towards them.
"chenle! welcome ba- AHHHHHHH!"
the three screamed in harmony and promptly reversed, hiding behind the first tree they could find.
jisung turned his head towards chenle, and they both burst into laughter.
"guys it's o-okay!", chenle struggled through giggles, "he's fine i swear! i trust him to be here so i hope you can too!"
after a few seconds, the three emerged from the tree, quivering.
timidly, they approached the two, fluttering their little wings, and jisung got his first good look at them.
they were the closest thing to fairies he's seen. humanoid, about a foot tall each, dainty wings, one themed green, the other blue, and the last pink.
they were basically humans compressed to a foot and wings plastered on their backs.
not to mention they were all really handsome.
"you three, he's not a threat. he may look scary but he's just like me, okay?"
the one on the left accepted it quicker than the other two, but they also got there after a few moments.
"friends, this is jisung. jisung, meet renjun, ", he gestured towards the green one, "this is jeno," , he gestured towards the one in blue, "and this is jaemin.", lastly the one in pink.
"nice to meet you guys, i hope we can get along", jisung offered his finger out for them to shake, which they all did.
"we hope so too!" , they all said in an overwhelmingly positive way.
it was already rubbing off onto him.
"ji, these are my fairy friends which accompany my while i'm here. they're great, and they are very important to me."
"aweeee thank you my baby!", jaemin flew over to hug chenle by the shoulder.
"surprisingly, they're all older than me."
"that really is surprising."
"hey are you calling us short?", renjun questioned.
"no comment."
"YAH!" , renjun flew towards jisung, but jeno prevented him from getting there and throwing punches.
"i'm just playing with you! you guys really are a good trio huh."
"we like to think so"
"anyways,", chenle put them back on track, "should we take you around ji? there are so many cool places here."
"I'M LEADING THE WAY", jaemin finally let go of chenle's shoulder.
"i guess we're following him.", jisung said.
jaemin was already zooming away, and the four had to catch up with him.
"first, the incredible view!"
he guided them down the path, which winded through the forest, and brought them to a rocky climb, similar to the wall chenle had to climb, but less risky.
"i hope you're a good climber, jisung! break a leg. not literally. but you might. but i hope you don't. because that wouldn't be good. and we wouldn't know what to do. and you would just have to lay there. and we're not strong enough to carry you. and you would be in agony. and-"
"jaem you're ranting again", jeno butted in.
"oh, sorry. just don't break a leg."
"don't worry, you should be more worried about chenle. i got this."
"confidence muc-"
and before jaemin could finish his sentence, jisung had grabbed the highest rock up he could with one hand, and with one heave, he launched himself up about 15 feet and landed feet first on the ledge.
"...oh"
the fairies just stared up at jisung, then back down at chenle, waiting for an explanation.
"i forgot to tell you he's really strong"
"ah, he's not a normie like you chenle."
"hey!"
"i respect it jisung, just don't crush us accidentally"
"once again, i'm only strong when i wish to be. don't worry."
"thank fuck. anygays, come on chenle!"
"anygays?", jisung looked at renjun with confusion.
"nevermind"
chenle started to climb up, but it was taking a while and excitement was filling jisung's body.
out of impatience, he hung back over the ledge, grabbed chenle by the arm, and pulled him into his body.
jisung then heaved himself up again, this time with chenle in his arms, like a superhero that had just saved their lover.
the three fairies watched in curiosity as the two awkwardly separated from eachother, mumbling words they couldn't quite make out.
"what do you think, jen?"
"they're so homophones"
"what do you think jun?"
"they're so homosapiens"
"i agree, they're so homographs"
"what was that?", chenle asked.
"nothing! uh, follow me again."
and off they all went following jaemin again.
maybe jisung caught a little bit of what they were saying.
just maybe.
enough that everything was now making sense.
