由 LazyWhiteRaven

I open my eyes and before me is a forest. More specifically... close to the Owl House.

Madelene: A dream again... wonder what this one's about? Why do I feel different?

I try to move but for some reason my body won't react to what I thought of.

Madelene: Okay? Body, what on earth is wrong with you? Why can't I mov- Oh right... dream...

I let my body do its bidding, letting the dream trudge its course into events I barely could even think of doing. I mean, really? When did I ever let myself pluck grass with my mouth!? And... Santa Maria... why do I ... urinate like an animal?! What the fluff brain!? Don't you freaking dare let my body in the real world pee under my covers!

Luz: Aren't you worried about those guards finding us?

Jolting from my despair, I was surprised as Luz appeared in front of... well....

Madelene: That's.... me....

I saw my body, along with Luz and Eda approach the Owl House.

Eda: Nope, my house has a state of the art defense system.

Hooty: Hoot, hoot. Password please.

This is when we first arrived here... The scene suddenly whizzes by as it's replaced by me outside the house with a sack beside me.

Madelene: 'This was when Eda had us sell her potions and elixirs. So this is that astral projection thingy? Weird, I thought you could move around.'

Eda: Remember, never befriend a man in sandals. And always measure once cut twice.

Luz: Uhhhh..

Eda: Good Luck!

Eda closed the door and we could still hear her talking about how even with me there Luz would probably still get eaten or worse, prompting her to argue by smooshing herself against the window.

Luz: No I won't!

Madelene: Luz, down!

Eda closed the curtain and we hear King making angry noises before he came out as well, along with Eda carefreely stating.

Eda: Be back by sundown or face mortal peril!

The scene changed again this time when we were running back home from Hexside after the whole Luz almost being dissected. The view moves from Luz and the others to my shaken form at the foot of a tree when I learned that I am a witch as I traced out a gradient spell circle.

Now I'm met with the morning I was practicing my magic when Hooty asked me that one question.

Hooty: Maddy, can I ask you something?

Madelene: Sure bud. HA!

I launched a red ball of light directly at one of the trees leaving a charred hole in its trunk.

Hooty: Why do you practice your magic so much?

Madelene: To get better at it, obviously.

Hooty: Hoot! I know that, but why exactly?

Madelene: Oh. Well. How should I put it. I want to keep my friends and family safe, but I didn't really have much to contribute, and now that I have magic, I want to be the strongest witch, strong enough to keep those close to me safe from harm.

The scene changed again, and again, and again. I'm shown all the times we left and returned to the Owl House on our different adventures, even the day I had my panic attack, all seen from the sideline, from the perspective of someone keeping an eye on me, stalking me. The scene kept changing until I am face to face with a being enveloped in darkness, as if I was leaning into the boiling pond, the only thing visible are their three eyes, then everything went black.

Madelene suddenly woke up with a jolt sitting upright, panting, her eyes scanning the room. Her panting stirs Luz awake. She sits up rubbing the sleep from her eye, she turns her head and sees her sister panting and in deep thought.

Luz: Maddy? Everything okay?

She placed her hand on Madelene's shoulder offering comfort.

Madelene: Huh? Oh sorry, did I wake you?

Luz: It's no biggie, what's up?

Madelene: It's nothing, just had a weird dream.

Now that she thinks of it....

Slowly looking down at her lower part, Madelene can't help but sigh in relief. At least she didn't pee. The last time she did that was when she drank a liter of water before bed. The humiliation back then, with Luz complaining that the rain flooded their double deck.

Luz: What .. are you doing?

Madelene: Just checking if I peed.

Luz: Uh... Maddy... that's...

Madelene: Hmph! What!? You asked!

Luz: Alright, gonna erase that part out of my head. Wanna talk about it?

Madelene thought on it for a moment before nodding.

Madelene: It was a really weird dream. I dreamt about when we first got here, and all our other adventures after. But it was always when we were leaving and coming back.

Luz: Okay, I can somewhat see how that's weird.

Madelene: That's not the weird part. I saw all our adventures, even my early morning magic practice, but I could see myself. Like I was there but just as an observer.

Luz: Okay, now that is weird. But It's probably nothing.

Madelene: Maybe...

Luz: Should we ask Eda?

Madelene: No, at least not until I'm sure it's not just a one time dream.

Luz: Okay.

Luz was about to go back to sleep but Madelene stopped her.

Madelene: Luz...

She turns to her with a hum.

Madelene: Thanks... you know for talking.

Luz gives her a hug.

Luz: No problem sis, you've always been there for me. It's the least I can do.

Madelene returned the hug with a tender smile on her face.

Madelene: Hey, wanna sleep together... like we always used to?

Luz: Of course.

They lied down...

Luz: Just don't pee on me, o-

Madelene: Geez, Luz! That was one time!

—---

Eda suggested we should all head to the Slayground to relax a little and unwind after the weeks of action. I just came back from getting an icecream cone with eyeballs in it called eyescream from a vendor.

It looks gross, but curiosity finally got the better of me. All in all 8/10, though the eyeballs were juicy, I had to pretend they were grapes just so I could even attempt to eat them. Not even gonna comment on the wiggling sensation inside my mouth... no siree.

Madelene: This was a pretty good idea, Eda. After what we've been through, a little R&R could do us good.

Eda: Exactly, especially you.

Madelene: I know, and that's exactly why I'm excited for the Grudby match between Hexside and Glandus High later.

Luz: -My parental instincts are freaking out man!

Eda: He's fineee~. Look at him.

I turn my attention to where Eda and Luz are looking and I see King trying to climb up a slide, using the slide.

Luz: He does look like he's having fun. Aww~ I wonder what little game he's playing?~

Surprisingly he managed to climb up and stood at the top triumphantly.

King: Yes! HEHEYES! This is a throne worthy of a tyrant! Bow to me you snotty underlings!

The kids did just that, the three eyed one doing a handstand and the other -I seem to recognize- turns around and bends backwards.

Madelene: I guess those are sorta like bows?

Luz: Whatcha got there, sis?

Madelene: Oh, it's just an eyescream I got from the vendor over there.

Luz: Ooohh demon food! Can I try?

Madelene: I'm not sure. You know you're lactose intolerant.

Eda: Lactose what now?

Madelene: It means she can't handle dairy very well. You know milk, cream, cheese, butter. If she eats any her stomach's gonna churn.

Eda: Oh, well, she'll be fine. I think. The milk here in the isles is different from earth.

Luz: Yeah, I'll be fine.~

Madelene: Well... Okay... But I'm not taking responsibility if your stomach starts to churn and your buttcheek-

Luz: Geez, Maddy! just oneeee~!

Hesitantly I hand a whining Luz the cone.

Luz: Thanks Maddy!

She was about to take a lick when an eyeball opened, making her freeze. She was locked in a staring contest with the desert, until it was broken when the eyeball blinked.

Luz: WAAAUUUGH!!

She tossed the cone into the air, going above and past our heads.

Madelene: My eyescream!

Luz: Maddy! You cannibal!

Madelene: It's normal here, you ding dong!

I climbed up onto the surrounding wall, then up on the archway, sliding down its roof before diving forward and barely catching the frozen desert.

Madelen: Oh darling food, thou shall be treasu-

The desert tip to the side, sliding at the ground with abandon, fizzling the hope I have to zero.

Madelene: Nooooo....

I lamented, sobbing long as I cleaned myself and buried my precious desert somewhere else.

As I come back to Eda and Luz, King runs off letting out an adorable little squeak.

Madelene: I would have mourned more... But what was that?

Eda: That was King's squeak of rage haha! He's like a little tea kettle.

Eda snort laughed.

Luz: Hey what's that?

Luz pointed to the little carving under Owlberts foot.

Eda: That's his interlock so he only fits under my staff. Every-

Eda suddenly fell asleep, slumping on the bench.

Madelene: Eda!? Eda!

Luz: Eda wake up! Maddy, what's happening to her!?

Madelene: I don't know! You don't think-

Eda's eyes suddenly shot open. We helped her sit back up as she shivered.

Eda: W-wha? Oh no! The curse. We have to get home, now.

Eda picked up her staff as she got up and started to walk away with us following her as Luz called for King.

Eda slumps onto the couch face first with an exhausted groan.

Luz: I'll go get your elixir.

Eda: Don't worry about it, I'll get it myself in a bit.

Madelene: Do you need us to stay and take care of you?

Luz gasps at the suggestion

Luz: I can put King in a little doctor's outfit~.

King: Meh???

Eda: No one wants to see that...

Madelene: Well~ I know a couple certain witches who would pay to see that.

Eda: Tempting, but no. Look I know how to take care of myself, I've had this curse longer than you've been alive.

Luz: So how'd you get it?

Eda groans an "I don't know." to which we parroted back to her.

Eda: Somebody gave it to me, I don't know who, and I don't care cause I'm fine. Alright?

Madelene: If turning into a giant Owl beast is fine then sure, you're completely fine.

Eda: Hey, I've managed for a long time now, and last time when I transformed was because someone took my elixir. Besides, don't you two have plans with tweedle dum and twerple dees?

Luz: Well, we are going to the Grudgby game between Hexside and Glandus High.

Eda: Since when are you into sports? I mean Madelene sure, but you?

Luz suddenly got in Eda's face, I would've grabbed her but eh.

Luz: Since I found a little something called Hexside pride! To think that Glandus, whoever they are- would dare face us.

Madelene: Glandus is a rival school of Hexside, that's located somewhere between Bonesborough and Latissa which is in the Titan's armpit.

They look at me silently questioning how I know that.

Madelene: I've been chatting with Skara on Penstagram. Which reminds me, we'll miss the ride to Glandus if we don't go now.

Luz: But, if Eda needs us to stay-

Eda: Gross, go. Go have fun at sport.

Luz cheered "Hooray for sport!" as she runs up to King who was doodling.

Luz: Hugs and kisses King~.

She gives King a kiss on his cheek.

Luz: Don't spend all night plotting revenge.~

King: That drooly faced heathen will know my wrath.~

Madelene: Don't forget to take your elixir Eda.

I follow Luz to the door as I hear Eda.

Eda: I won't mom, sheesh.

—--

We make it to Hexside just in time as the thing we'll be taking to Glandus hasn't left yet. I see Skara already on board, she spots me and waves my way, I wave back.

I'm ready to go onboard, but Luz took the hem of my shirt for a moment, stopping me on my tracks.

Luz: Maddy, they're not here yet.

Madelene: who?

Luz: My friends Gus and Willow!

Madelene: Oh.. that's not good.

It really isn't. I can see the bus filling in fast, and the others at the front slowly moving forward towards the transport.

Madelene: You wanna wait for them here?

Luz: I think I need to look for them at the entrance?

Madelene: Alright. Do you want me to wait for you?

Luz: You sure?

Madelene: Go ahead. I'll wait just right here.

Luz: Thanks Maddy, you're the best!

Silently moving out of the way of the bus entrance, I waved apologetically towards Skara, pointing towards Luz and putting my hands in my pockets in patience.

A few minutes passed and two teachers asked me to go onboard so we could go already, but with Luz still absent, I can't help but decline their offer, even if I were to not ride the bus and be left behind.

Madelene: Luz, where are you?

Boscha: Who?

Looking towards the gate, I saw Boscha in her letterman outfit, with a pack at her right arm, looking at me in confusion- her lackeys behind her. She nodded her head to her team and everyone just walked past them, looking at me in wonder before Boscha's eyes froze their curiosity and walked on their way.

Madelene: Oh... hey B!

She just sighed, and I smirked at how much she tolerated that nickname.

Boscha: I could barely tolerate you, but I guess your insipid mind won't let your stupid habits go as quickly as I hope. If you're not here to join the crowd to Glandus, what are you even doing here?

Madelene: For your information Miss Captain, I'm waiting for my friend. I thought it would be great to have a plus one to cheer your team up against the enemy, right? I think you need a lot of cheer coming from us, honestly.

Frowning at the double innuendos, Boscha stared hard at me. I would've sweat under her hard stare, but I can't help but let the smirk bloom in my face.

Boscha: You're saying you're not certain we'll win.. is that it?

Madelene: I mean... I barely saw you practice, and I heard the other teams good or something...

Boscha: Or something, huh...

I huff, leaning into the wall as I teased her, seeing the ever growing offense on her frame.

Madelene: Meh, you never know....

I let the tension simmer, before I let a very wicked fanged grin to rile her up more. I believe that the more you antagonize a person, the more determined they are to prove someone wrong. And that's what I want to do, make her so annoyed that she'll have me eat dirt if ever she wins. I continued with a shrug, barely stopping my laugh at her reddening face.

Madelene: ... Bet you they'll win. Easily.

Boscha: Oho? Bet, huh? Traitor, I'm not falling for that.

Madelene: What? Afraid you're gonna lose? And here I thought you were the best.

Her face reddens more as her scowl deepened.

Boscha: Alright, fine. You wanna bet? Let's bet. Loser has to do whatever the winner says.

Madelene: Sure, what are the terms?

Boscha: Hexside will beat Glandus without letting them score one point!

Madelene: Deal.

I held out my hand, she confidently shakes my hand with a firm grip which I return. I really got her riled up.

Madelene: No everlasting oath?

Boscha: No, I always keep my word. And I'm sure you do too.

I shrug with a tilt of my head.

Madelene: Just making sure.

Boscha: Whatever.

She rolls her eyes and boards the bus, once again I'm left alone as I wait for Luz.

Madelene: Donde esta chica?

After a few minutes the teachers told me to get on but I refused repeatedly stating that I'm waiting for Luz and her friends.

Teacher: Come on kid, the bus needs to go, or else we'll be late and the team won't be able to geit in some practice.

Madelene: Okay, I can just walk there, I don't want to be the reason Hexside loses.

The teacher shrugs and raises the steps to the vehicle and they take off.

Taking in a deep breath I make my way to the steps and see... no one. No one was at the steps.

Madelene: Luuuuzzz...

I groan facepalming.

Luz: Achoo!

Willow: You okay?

Luz: Yeah, someone must've remembered me.

Madelene: Looks like I'll be walking to Glandus alone.

.

.

.

Madelene: Where on Titan's butt is Glandus?

Not knowing my destination I head to Bonesborough, hopefully someone can point me there. Better yet provide me a mode of transport.

Madelene: I knew I should've asked Skara where Glandus is.

Welp, this has been... let's say difficult, asking around I'd get different directions to Glandus. Finally I got proper directions and I was on my way.

Madelene: How could Luz forget I was waiting for her? Well she can be easily distracte- WHOA!

*THUD*

Face, meet dirt.

Madelene: *muffled* Ow.

I prop myself up as I rubbed my head.

Madelene: What did I just trip on?

I look to my feet and see my laces are untied. I start tying my laces, when suddenly.

???: C'mon, we don't wanna miss- WHOA!

*THUD*

???: Hold your snorses- ACK!

*THUD*

Two people trip over my crouched body startling me. I finish tying my laces and stand up.

Madelene: You guys okay-

I turn my head to see who tripped over me and see people I was still preparing myself to see.
