two week passed after their first in-person meeting. During the week Yoongi visited a few times again but this week they havent seen eachother at all. well not face to face. They did call every day at least once. Jimin would tell the other when he finished his schedule and could call and the older would call him as soon as he could. It was the highlight of both their days. They were growing so attached to each other. They were wondering the whole time how the other was doing and waiting for the moment they could call each other.
Today Jimin felt good. He had been able to eat proper breakfast and get out of bed on his own. This was one of his good days. the days he felt fine and as if he was getting better. only for it to drop back down later. It was a fake sign of healing, that's what the doctors told him. his body would save some energy and give him energy to walk but it won't be for long. Jimin seemed to be too stubborn to die. But eventually the sickness will catch up to him.
"Are you still hungry?" Jimin asked with a chuckled seeing the ducks walk up the grass. He looked at his plate which was now empty, few bread crumbs on there. "i'm sorry you can't have more or you will get a stomach ache" Jimin smiled and put his hand down hoping to pet one of the ducks. they came very close when he was about to reach out for one they quacked and ran back to the water. "oh, im sorry duckies"
"Jimin '' the nurse was back smiling as she finally found Jimin after checking his room but only to find it empty. "i was looking for you"
"oh, i just went to get fresh air"
"it's fine. You have a visitor."
"A visitor? Taehyung and Jungkook?" Jimin asked if he didn't hear any of them were coming today. He didn't know Taehyung was even free today. and yoongi also didn't let him know anything. Who could visit him here?
"Min Yoongi, he said he knows you"
"Yoongi!" Jimin's eyes lit up seeing the older walk up from behind the nurse. waving at him.
"hey Minnie"
"I'm so happy to see you" Jimin smiled and stood up, alarming Yoongi a little. He didn't think Jimin could walk to him like this.
"be careful-" the older reached out in case jimin fell but he didn't. Jimin calmly walked over to Yoongi and hugged him unexpectedly.
"ah-" Yoongi was surprised but he smiled returning the hug. He wasn't a fan of hugs and skin ship but this was nice. And on top of that he did not expect Jimin to hug him. He wasn't complaining though. "you look quite active"
"Yes, I feel good today. but i'm not doing too much. i want to enjoy it while it lasts"
"Also sorry for stopping by so unannounced. i just felt like seeing you"
"It's fine, you can come anytime," Jimin smiled. He felt comfortable with Yoongi, as if he didn't have to pretend to be okay. He was comfortable showing his weak self to the others. ever since their first meeting yoongi gave off such a welcoming vibe. He assured him it was all fine, and it was. Yoongi has not judged him even once. He was so open and supportive. He showed interest and treated him normal. only with a little worry when he noticed something was hard for Jimin. And that was okay. "I was thinking of going to grab ice cream from the store on the corner of the street. if the doctors allow me to leave that is. i really really want some ice cream, it's been so long since i had one."
"Are you sure? it's quite a walk still"
"I can do it. you will come with me right?"
"Of course, I am here now. i will go with you" yoongi smiled. he didn't want to think of jin going alone. What if something happened? What if someone bothers him? What if he gets unwell? He doesn't want to imagine it. He felt a protective wave go over him but he brushed it off. Jimin was just a friend...yet it felt different.
"Ready then? i will go ask the nurses that i'm going outside" Jimin was already feeling excited and he walked off with a big smile halting the first nurse he saw in the white hallway.
"Are you sure? I don't think that's good right now. yesterday you were very bad"
"I feel good now. please let me go get ice cream, it's just at the end of the street. i will be fine, and if something happens i have yoongi" Jimin said pointing at the other proudly. the nurse looked at the friend and sighed nodding.
"fine. But be careful okay. don't take any risks"
"I'm always careful. don't worry" Jimin bowed at her thanking her three times before walking towards the exit with yoongi. "lets go!"
Yoongi smiled seeing Jimin so excited for an ice cream. For Yoongi it was just getting ice cream, for Jimin it was much more. He lived here in the hospital. being in his room for days unable to live normally. going to get ice cream made him feel somewhat normal. doing things he always could do before he got sick. before he was left alone with this.
Yoongi walked out into the sun but noticed Jimin wasn't next to him anymore, he turned around a little concerned if something was wrong but Jimin was just standing there at the exit."everything okay?"
"yea, im just....nervous" Jimin smiled awkwardly and walked out standing next to yoongi again. It's been a long time since he did something like this. He was excited to get ice cream but nervous for the walk there and back. "I'm okay. let's continue"
"Okay" the older followed Jimin's pace which wasn't fast. slow steps. people would walk past them, being faster. but yoongi didn't mind. As long as it wasn't too difficult for Jimin then it's fine. other people didn't matter. Jimin was very silent. staring at the ground in front of his feet until he spoke up. His voice was soft and breathy like he was out of breath.
"Can i...stop for a few seconds?"
"of course" yoongi immediately halted in his steps and followed Jimin to the stone wall where they sat down. Jimin felt his neck for his heartbeat hoping it would calm down soon.
"Sorry, i never really walk or stand long like this. it's very exhausting."
"take your time. I'm already impressed to see you walking at all. Last time i've seen you you were still stuck in bed"
"Sometimes I feel good. like today. and i really want to go do something on those days. But most of the time the nurses are afraid to let me out saying they can't keep watch over me then. But when I am with someone they let me. Like today, Usually i am with Jungkook or Taehyung but they are both busy today. They said they will visit me tomorrow again"
"Oh that reminds me, '' Yoongi started. "my friend Hoseok has been asking if he can meet you"
"oh. really?" Jimin was surprised. He didn't think anyone would want to meet him. a sick person who can't even go get ice cream on his own. who can't even get out of bed some days.
"Yes, he was really curious about you. He is very outgoing but he has a good personality."
"uhm. sure. but please on a day I'm good. I don't feel comfortable showing my weak self to others...you is fine but...yea"
"I will ask you first, okay?"
"thanks" jimin smiled and then he patted his thighs. "i am okay to continue"
"you sure?"
"yes. but. can you help me up?"
Yoongi nodded and helped Jimin on his feet, feeling him hang in his hand a bit.
"Is it okay to hold your arm? In case I fall. My leg is feeling heavy but i want to continue"
"hold onto me as you like." The older smiled and felt tingles go through his arm when Jimin held onto it. Normally Yoongi wouldn't like this. He wouldn't like the eyes people gave them. the look of being gay. But he didn't mind it now.
He didn't mind Jimin.
Instead he smiled even more and made sure to not let the other trip over anything.
and so they arrived at the ice cream shop. where Yoongi insisted on treating Jimin for the ice.
"Strawberry? really, so plain?" Yoongi joked, raising a brow at the other who took his strawberry ice cream from the man behind the counter.
"I like it. mind your own ice cream, mr i want cookie dough"
Yoongi chuckled and paid for the ice sitting down next to Jimin in the store. With Jimin he was different. There was something about Jimin.
